Add death match, delete time warp from tpvp, nerf eles. Now people can actually enjoy a character they feel like playing instead of worrying on how imbalanced “Objectives” are.
criticism without constructiveness does not help Anet it just sounds like subjective QQ and is usually dismissed by the devs
how would this deathmatch work? how would it be balanced to prevent class stacking and running zerg comps? what would the maps be like?
delete time warp and give mes what in exchange?
nerf eles? how? how will they be nerfed but still stay viable?
how are objectives imbalanced what would you change?
details details!
where to start.
well the first thing to start with if you haven’t already looked up some viable builds for 5v5, google is your savior, i’m assuming you have already so then at that point you and your friends (don’t have any? http://gw2lfg.com/ is your friend) can start queuing up at the tournament npc who ques you and you friends for paid tournaments (cost 1 ticket and a group of 5 people) which currently a new mode is under testing (team v.s team) for paids.
free tournaments (que solo at your own risk) which is mostly for practice and free tournament token’s is a good way to work yourself up to good team’s you find in paids, and is always a pug smashing good time.
gl hf =D
edit: need extra advice tips, tactics and builds for your classes you can add me and wisper me in game when i’m on

pvp needs to be more profitable. I’ve made a few threads in the past and I will continue to share my ideas to Anet in hopes that they make the mists more profitable giving more incentive for Anet to keep supporting pvp and not just pve, because things take money to happen its just a fact of life and is no exception in the gaming industry.
the skins now usable in the mists was a very good start but I think Anet can do more and specifically for the mist players and some idea’s that me and my guild came up with in team speak were.
“Wrapping paper” this item which can be purchased for gems in the cash shop can make soulbound pvp items in the mists trade-able to your friends this makes it easier to help your friends out with there sets and getting that last piece of armor they may need.
“Templates” where are they? its crazy that you guys have not bounced on this idea yet and make them sell-able in the cash shop. they were amazing in gw1, no doubt they would make amazing revenue for the game and pvp.
I encourage anyone else who posts here to pitch there own ideas for the cash shop to make pvp more profitable.
worse people still appearing out of no where and not loading into view
and even more so since this last patch
this build makes it a little better
edit:healing surge for more dmg
(edited by Kline.9561)
Still dunno where should i post topic – here or in “Bugs”…
Anyway. I’ve read Anet said all macros guys would be banned. It was about 1 month (or smth) ago, so what i see when play against premade with thief? Yeah, i got macrosd. What i get playing against any thief 20+ rank? Macrosd!
For sure i know how to evade, break stun etc but it helps in 1×1 not in 3×3.Anet guys, you thinking about competitive and e-sport, spectator modes and other usefull things. But you really think if someone would be interested in those things if he dies in 1 sec?
I thinking on my build, testing it, discussing with my mates and die of noskill-1-button-5rank player. Why do i should compete with anyone with lower skill and got beaten? Seems kinda unfair to me.So i have just 2 questions: 1. Will you ban players who use macros? (your words guys, just tell Y\N)
2. When?
i think they need to develop a system that can counter macros
about thieves in general though one of the things that makes thief so potent with this back stab combo is a lack of global cool-down which is how Anet wants thieves to play
yet with so many people complaining about thief back stab I think it warrants change if the community is not happy with it, there are a lot of strong skills that seem cheap in this game but unlike the thief most of the time you have a fighting chance against these classes or at least a chance to fight back
getting jibbed in one second is not fun and poor counter-play by design Anet needs to stop balancing only for the top players or they will never get any new ones.
First up I have to say I think custom arenas are a terrible idea and just another way to milk the player base for cash.
However, if it be possible to disable downed state in a custom arena, then I’ll eat all my words and will be the first one to sign up.
milking? no i think they need to be able to make money off pvp if you want anet to continue supporting it in the future.
but i do think there are better ways to make mullah off pvp than just this
how do you report hackers in this game?
or macro users in pvp
(edited by Kline.9561)
that’s the only way to improve yourself.
and when there will be a ladder, it will be everything more balanced..soon
yes and no
yes-fighting better people will make you better forcing you to adapt if you want to win
no-because how can you get better when paid’s hardly pop making practice not as consistent and its the same few top teams queuing with the game having no observation mode and very few streams to go off of.
on a more positive note, Anet is still saying there working on a better pvp system that will cater more to casuals/new players and help the lambs rise to lions.
I think Quickness should be disabled on sPvP/tPvP.
Don’t need to say much about it, since everyone knows what it does and how it works. As well how we like it on ourself and dislike taking hit by it.
But overall I think this is a boon that should be disabled since it helps instant-high damage builds which are the easier way to not show the skills of players but get easy kills.
What do you think?
Two changes i would prefer
1. make it removable
or
2. forget making it removable but have the other quickness skills that don’t have negative effects ‘actually’ have them and make them more give and take.
That would be a fantastic convenience/luxury, but should it be a priority?
If you could choose between this or doing something other than cap points what would you pick?
Don’t get me wrong…that was really nice to have.
both because Anet is full of talented people and if they could spit out those holiday events and the lost shores as quick as they did I’m sure they would have no problem coming out with a pvp patch….with templates
Oh the good old times when you could press a key and choose all your equip (weapons, runes, mods) and save/load it in a file.
Same for Builds.in PvP, not having this feature got me a bit upset. I hate when i want to try a new build. Its so annoying to change it and keep records of the old one…
that’s why i think its something that could make Anet a good bit of money
i have all the classes and i could really use some templates from gw1. for when i want to switch out builds in the mists and i need a specific build for the composition our team is running
I’m surprised you think grenade kit needs buffing. Glass cannon grenade burst is pretty much the only remotely viable build for engineer in NA top tier pvp ATM.
^^ this
I’ve heard that PvP-Players invest a much smaller amount of Money into GW2 than the PvE-Players (with that I mean buying Gems for real Cash). They need to make sure that they can make Money off of Players that got the Game for free; ANet isn’t a charity, it’s a company!
I like to think that the main reason of this is there isn’t any real incentive or cool cosmetic/craft booster etc… marketed towards pvp’ers and people who play in the mists
more items targeted towards mist players might make more potential money from pvp. i mean come-on who really buys the cow finisher they can do better
I don’t think anyone just wanting to try pvp with their friends wants to start out in a tournament, maybe I’m reading it out of context but it sounds like from a league of legends point of view, you can’t play normals with friends only ranked?
As Kline pointed out, the “structure” part of PvP is not friendly to new players. You can actually play with your friends in pick-up games, but you aren’t guaranteed to be on the same team all the time. Also, you can’t just form a party and join—you have to manually join your friend’s game, or choose the same PvP room number as him from the server list.
As for tournaments—they’re actually better for new players than hotjoin, since hotjoin has a high population of people just looking for noobs to farm. Tournaments guarantee that you can play with your friends on the same team. Unfortunately, tournaments don’t have any matchmaking either, so it’s pretty hit and miss. No matter how you do PvP, you can expect to do a lot of dying for a long time before you play a close match.
yes this is one thing i agree with but i was more leaning towards how spvp seems alien to new players and just joining the pvp and how its separated from the rest of the game making it it’s own thing
though the basic are explained by npc’s on how to handle the control’s and mechanics for spvp in a very intresting way. its still very daunting trying to figure out what everything is when you enter the the main isle of the mists for the first time.
basically things could be explained more thoroughly when you discover them
:like what is this free tourney i see for the first time? and what does it mean to me when i pvp, say i don’t pve what implication does these runes and sigils have. small stuff like that adds up and can aggravate or turn off a player because they feel overwhelmed by the stuff they have to learn (not saying everyone but a lot of people do)
as for casuals that’s a bigger issue because it has more to do with the lack of content catered to them and difficulty curve of entering turnys for the first time, making turnys basically require a group of people using Voip. turning off a potently large portion of a player base that Anet could have for pvp. while most people on these forums are yelling make a free to play client for just the mists, i could see some issues with this answer
mainly technical and financial, building a new free to play client for the mists then funding it so that client can happen. Anet would have to convince the higher ups that it would be profitable and a time/effort worth investment first
this is why i will not stop saying this THE MISTS NEEDS A CASH SHOP SECTION. PVP NEEDS TO BE PROFITABLE TO GROW, THINGS TAKE MONEY TO HAPPEN.
Or we can nerf bot the core and the symtoms everything feels weird. 90% of the thieves are runing this. Thing is that is extremely easy to counter what sucks is that thieves can restealth everytime they want it seems so many ways to stealth and gain initiative, then when you are around 50% hp is simply a heartseeker fest.
I am playing a condition thief which is funny and effective i hope this “i only need 2 fingers to play” build gets so nerfed that becomes unplayable with this purpose and people start being creative.
i play condi thief and honestly I don’t mind it
yeah its really simple but i don’t think that’s a strong enough reason to warrant a nerf
i think they should look at the builds thief currently has, then keep them viable, then see about buffing other potential builds thief can play so that the variety in what people can play adds up.
No, I actually don’t see all that much “spam” posts, maybe because of moderators. Rather, the posts are are usually quite fair. If you want to see real spam and whining, go to WoW forums.
Sometimes there are posts that just poke fun at something but may seem like whine/spam posts.

this
Surprise surprise! im not talking about sPvP (neither tPvP). Im talking about all these posts concerning “the future of pvp”, “im sick of this/that”, “when we’ll get this/that” guys stop please.
no u!!!!!!
jk, in all seriousness though I’m glad that all this talk for pvp is happening no matter at what level or extremity because in all the other games I’ve played like this one that has had great potential for pvp the developers don’t give one iota and troll there own pvp playerbase (looking at you wow) and then it fails.
to me it shows that a lot of people like this game and want it to succeed really bad so they have a strong passion for it which in my book is ok, personally I want to see more threads that talk about the state of the game, it gives a good idea of what the devs should look for in making there player base happy. because its very easy to make a disconnect with the players if the devs are not hearing a vocal community.
I am curious with the current changes preventing weapon swapping and skill swapping why it is still allowed to log off a character and re-enter the match on another profession. Is this intended and if so isn’t that kind of counter intuitive to the idea behind locking skills and weapons? You are starting to see teams do thing such as stack elementalists for Khylo and to me that is frustrating and a bit broken. Just curious if the Devs have noticed this or intend to let this stand
i believe it’s because the weapon swapping and trait swamping was a quik fix and they don’t have a system at yet to stop char switching which prolly req more tech work
that’s what i think anyway
bookmarked =)
darn u Anet i want my templates
Will you ever be able to play spvp with a friend or 2 on your team without having to use one of those tokens?
I don’t get why this isn’t in the game.
^^^
Another good example as to why pvp is not friendly to new players or casuals
Better they learn how to counter it than them convince anet to nerf one of our useful dungeon elites into THE GROUND!
if this is a pve v.s pvp issue im sure that things will be kept different and they can make a split version of the skill. already assuming they wont do this before anything has changed and there has been no patches yet just sounds like “end of times” talk to me
I certainly hope they split it… they’ve failed to on other occasions, which is what has me all jumpy. Nerfing TW would make boss fights just that much longer… ugh.
then i suggest to all players that if this does happen in the future make sure to let aNET know.
@dalincida please read under my name it says dont make fun of my spelling. i never L2S (im sure you know what that stands for) i had a different up brinning then you so that is very much a sensitive subject for me.
Point still stands, you come off as an elitist moron who has nothing to back up their claims. The game has balance issues, anyone claiming otherwise needs to wise up. What those issues are is a point for discussion, unless you are suggesting this is somehow a magical game that is perfectly balanced, something which no MMO has ever been able to do, let alone a 6 months from launch.
ignoring your first 2 comments cause your trying to bait me into a infraction with your sillyness kid.
your interpretation of me is wrong on so many lvls “elitist”? i help everyone. “moron” because i type so fast and dont bother with grammar because my mind keeps racing with thoughts that i make many threads about that many ppl agree with? (do on google and tell me all the smart ppl know how to spell and have proper grammar"
this game has no balance issies unles u look at this game from a 1v1 perspective then i agree with you. to bad this is not a 1v1 game and if you wise up you can L2P guild wars 2 (this is not solo man2) whisper me in game if you need help against super mesmers or thiefs i can help you bro thats why im here.
and yes as stated in the SOTG by vain “this is the most balanced game he has played”
i understand you want to poke at me but i still see in your replys u want to get defend QQ ing but truthfully it wont help this game
You just quoted Vain in the SOTG. Go and listen to the SOTG again.
Vain also states that more classes need skill shots, time warp needs to be changed so that its not so essential in 5v5 and particularly team fights (I.e it needs a smaller radius and a negative effect) and Vain also thinks Portal should be changed to be used by the Mesmer and Mesmer only.
All points I agree with. Don’t use one comment by Vain exclusively but then whinge and kitten about people asking for changes to mesmer Timewarp and Portal when the same person endorses those comments.
Snap.
well i only agree with him saying this game is the most balanced and its not just a quote from him. most everyone i know says the same thing. and if i was on the SOTG i would have rebuttled vain when he said those silly things.
i dont care who it is the QQ nerf this or nerf that needs to stop im sick of it.
all the rambling on the spvp forums is nothing but qq and subjective opinions of this guy said this and that guy said that. Truth is the census of opinion but the forum makes a very small census at best
my advice: don’t feed into it just ignore it. not even worth the time getting mad over it or making this thread, cuz I guarantee you this forum probably makes up very little of the changes that happen ingame. dev’s just use it to kinda get an idea on things
Better they learn how to counter it than them convince anet to nerf one of our useful dungeon elites into THE GROUND!
if this is a pve v.s pvp issue im sure that things will be kept different and they can make a split version of the skill. already assuming they wont do this before anything has changed and there has been no patches yet just sounds like “end of times” talk to me
So I went and had a read of that QQ timewarp thread. It was a sad sorry thing, and I have to tell you, I saw a lot of talk of OP and “cheap”, yada yada yada. I hadn’t seen such a concentrated group of scrubs in a long time, but I’m also not surprised.
So let’s talk tactics. What you QQ’rs need is to break down what’s going on inside a timewarp, and come up with some actual valid counters to it. I’m not the master of all PvP combat, but a couple things are so stupidly obvious I shouldn’t have even needed to come here to say so.
Yes, running away is a valid tactic, like it or not. But let’s move beyond that.
Confusion: You can expect within a TW for your enemy to spam his skills. In fact he’ll be firing them off so quickly he probably won’t even stop to check what he’s doing. If he is, he might have rinsed through them so quickly it’ll be to late. Confusion will chop a person in half, even in sPvP. Look into it. It’s amazing.
Retaliation: Getting smashed by TW? Well, so can your enemy. Retaliation exists to punish your enemy for trying to punish you.
Got confusion AND retaliation? Well guess what, TW is as much a problem as it is a solution. Your class/group loosing against a TW using mes/team? Build a better class. The options are there.
More ideas? I know they’re out there.
lets not talk about tactics with this move and more about tweaks change it so that it is not so mandatory in pvp and how it currently weaken’s any kind of variety on group composition, at the same time keep it viable and worth taking and using as a skill, all this banter about mesmers saying a nerf to time warp will destroy mesmers…..it wont the good players will adapt and still do great as a mesmer just as all the other classes that got nerfed over something thought it was the end of times. but most of this is common “dont nerf me bro” talk.
its not cheap its just to strong especially in a game mode thats capture the point and hold so I blame the game mode more than the ability its self.
sadly there is no counter to this ability a lot of good games I see while playing or watching streams mid point almost all the time is given to whoever can pull off timewarp first its not a boon and it cannot be removed.
but in a general sense I like to think pvp is still in its most earliest stages due to deadlines on gw2 when it came out so give it time and don’t sweat the small things change its apart of mmos
Bah, i dont get it. Why is everyone calling stuff OP if they cant handle it? (I do not mean necessarily you). I guess they dont even think about “how to counter” that. It was the same with Warrior 100b at start and now everyone is laughing about 100b Warriors.
I think its the same with time warp from Mesmer.
FOR EXAMPLE:
Lets say we are in a 5v5 Team battle in Forest of Nifhil at Keep. Mesmers of both sides are caping close point and move up to keep for Time warp to support the team. So when you see how the enemy Mesmer is using Time warp your Whole Team have to retreat immediately (ofcourse you will lose the point for a moment) to force the enemy team out of the time warp field so they will lose their quickness. Even if they still have it (lets say you got a warrior and a necro in your team) necro can pop well of corruption to remove quickness and warrior can use Greathammer F1 to stun multiple enemys ( ranger, thief, etc. can also help with traps to slow their movements). So now you turned the whole teamfight, make your mesmer pop Time warp and blow the enemys away (since all their melee and dps classes should be right infront of you, you should have no problems in taking them down).Thats my opinion how to counter Time warp! and im sure there are still alot more ways to counter it. Ofcourse its just theory and needs alot of coordination and practice.
PS. sorry for my broken english. grammar and spelling
We’re playing a game mode that is mostly about holding a point and your counter to Time Warp is to tuck tail and leave the point letting the enemy have it.
That is the textbook definition of an “I Win Button.”
this just gave me a great idea what if Anet came out with these other maps and stuff where you did not have to play conquest…..
oh wait……
Yes I agree thief is boring to fight but there’s nothing more satisfying when you know you killed a stealthed thief just to have him destealthed on the ground.
I’d rather have bunker guardians nerfed opposed to thieves, I don’t like the idea that they can just pop 1 cool down and sit in a bubble while still considered to be contesting the point and survive for a good few seconds.
I also would like to see certain bunkers toned down but I also
don’t like the idea that I wont even get a chance to retaliate with some of my classes/builds half the time due to the extreme burst one trick thieves can pull off.
I don’t like how almost every hotjoin is full of 90% thieves when I want to goof around before a turny que
I don’t like how people defend backstab so narrow minded saying l2p or dodge when in pvp there are to many variables to keep into account not everything is 1v1 and you wont always have defensive ability’s up when you need them.
I don’t like how all the other builds are cheese or worthless and it feels like i’m pigeon holed into backstab to feel competitive on my thief.
I don’t like how backstab thief is just poor counter-play by design
if so many people are complaining about backstab combo then yes I think it might be worth looking into or to change, things need to be balanced for the top players and the casuals because without the casuals we have that much smaller of a player base, and spvp needs a better playerbase.
in short the backstab combo (not the build the setup and dmg) is just not fun to fight against like other classes are.
i will not stop saying this and people need to start asking for it too
if spvp is going to get the attention it needs from anet it needs to make money and become economically viable this was mentioned a bit in the state of the game stream
and its very true.please anet make a tab in the cash shop for all the mist players
skins, weapons, graphical effects that display on weapons, heck you could sell the ability to use templates from gw1, come out with chest’s that can only be open with cash shop keys for the mists, i’m guaranteeing you people will want this look at other successful games that do this.
things take money to grow and mmo’s are expensive and a lot of times for a publisher it’s a big risk in profiting a developer studio to make an mmo.
so lets make pvp profitable
Cosmetic stuff should remain exclusive of the rewards system sorry, but a good idea would be to allows PvPers to obtain something in PvP which could be translated to gold, take this example:
- Glory essence
5k glory for one essence, 250 essences can be converted to 5G by using a special essence converter that can be bought only in the gemstore for 300 gems, something along this line
Let’s make PvP a profitable environment for PvErs so to attract more of them, in GW1 we had zkeys which were essential for PvPers in order to obtain moneys by selling them( ohh if I miss zkeys trade)
I agree and disagree,
I agree that there should be some sort of exchange system but not one that gives you currency in the way you speak of because exchanging glory and pvp items for gold would probably only serve to debunk the economy even further. I think pvp currency should stay pvp or convert it to other currencies or craftable items,
like a converter that you can buy for gems that gives you twice as many arcane crystals or slivers per use.
overall agree there should be items much like the converters and zkey’s you mentioned this games pvp disparately needs the support it deserves, it has such great potential.and what better support than one that pays off for the developers who develop it.
(edited by Kline.9561)
spvp needs to be more financially viable!!!! things take money to make
It’s easy. Solution:
Open up the Heart of the Mists and make it free-to-play (people cannot leave the Mists without purchasing the game). Expand the cash shop to give cosmetic PvP gear like weapon skins, armor skins, outfits wearable in-combat, unique and interesting finishers, etc.
Making Heart of the Mists free-to-play will make the game so much more accessible to the general gaming community, much like how League of Legends does it.
this ^^^^
i will not stop saying this and people need to start asking for it too

They talked about many important things that I hope the devs will listen and act to. For example that we would like the UTILITY-SWAPPING back.
Nobody wants comp wars.
personally think you should play what you walk in with
now this wouldn’t be as big a deal if all the classes had more viable builds/comps then just a handful we do now. that and class swapping during mid fight needs to go too imo
honestly i think there are other things they should focus more on like coming out with a more robust and varied pvp system more features, maps, game modes then go hardcore on balance
cuz it just feels like were playing bare bones pvp…. one game mode, no ranking etc..
I watched it and I started thinking “Who is Helseth?” I ended thinking, “Thank God this Helseth guy was on there.”
That guy brought up amazing point after point. Solo queue being the biggest issue which is what I’ve been saying since the start. Hopefully DEVs watch this because they all had some great points.
which goes into the subject of casual players, you can balance around both the top players and casuals
but without the casuals you don’t have a player base and spvp NEEDS players
this game needs to be more friendly to new players more inviting and fun for casuals as well.
you can make modes for casuals and hardcore players and make both sides happy
You didn’t miss anything, discussed what was already discussed on forums.
i still think that its important to have these kind of videos though, they convey these things said on the forums in a much more clear way while being conversed among a group of people who have experience and understand them effectively. cutting out the criticism with out constructiveness and the trolling
text only gets you so far i think these videos will help the devs see in better light what the community is trying to say…. more videos i say.
not to mention i think they tackled one thing that isn’t brought up in the forums enough
spvp needs to be more financially viable!!!! things take money to make
video? pleeeease
it will probably be posted soon
Basically, all they talked about: basic keybinds needs to be changed, helseths hair, EU>NA, helseths hair and..that’s all
THE HAIR! OMG THE HAIR
it crit me for 9999
Would anyone be kind enough to post a summary of what was discussed during today/tonight’s session?
Thanks in advance!
basicly
-the mists need to be more profitable, more money means more effort being put into pvp.
-mesmer portal needs to go cuz it restricts compositions into being pigeon holed to bring mesmer
-spvp needs to be more solo ques for stuff and more friendly to casuals
-balance on classes is really good better than other mmos but there is still some bad counter play with certine classes
-more people should be playing paids tickets need to be easier to get and anet need to find other BETTER things to make money of most suggested thing was cosmetics like skins .
-the game needs more features, game modes and overall just more support from anet to be successful
-also NA and EU still hatin =D
i keep saying this and ill say it again everything takes money! …money money money
mmos are exspensive they need to make spvp more profitable it needs its own section in the cash shop
a perfect example of a good cash shop for a game like gw2 is team fortress 2’s cash shop its optional but achievable
(edited by Kline.9561)
Desolation ………………………………..
i just physically felt irony
at first the sensation was funny then i felt sad
Just imagine if pvp looked like this
brutal but so fun looking
My guess is that most competitive PvP players would choose to show off their accomplishments via high tier gear, so not many of that already limited player base would use the shop much, so Arena Net just didn’t bother.
simple answer to that possible predicament
make sets that still req skill, dedication etc… to achieve so people can still feel leet and then make sets that can be purchased optionally while still being able to unlock them through ranking up or crafting through mystic forge, then make sets that you can only get in the mists via cash shop.
make each piece of gear cheap something like 30-50 cents per piece
imo i think it would work and i believe there are plenty of people out there willing to spend a little bit to unlock a set they want or just wants to fill in that missing piece to get the full set they are working on.
its easy to get just about any piece of gear (except hats) in team fortress 2 but valve still rakes in truck loads with there cash shop, so that means someone is buying.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWMBeLrZoyw
and therefore get more attention from Anet
if it had a pvp cash shop to begin with…
looking for ideas Anet? team fortress 2’s cash shop is a great example, its fair and optional
As the title asks, what roles can the Guardian play in tPvP other than bunker?
I main a Guardian and have close to 1000 hours as one at this point. However, I haven’t touched tPvP and I’m curious as to what role I could play other than bunker or a dedicated buff kitten.
support, balanced point defender, spirit weapon build and others that you can google.
and yes dps guardian is more than viable I’ve seen ones that have completely wrecked havoc in frees as well as paids but still very uncommon
so i have has guild wars 2 for 3 days and still cant choose a class i will be doing pvp manly after i lvl up to lvl 80 i want a good support class but i also want to be able if want be kinda in your but when i fell like kinda be a chilled back support char. so plz tell me what class sounds like what i am describing
get them all
Had a guy named Knark*** today on BP asking me to ping my weapon in LA. When I explained that in spvp your pve gear doesn’t apply, he basically told me I was wrong. I tried explaining to this guy that it doesn’t matter what you use in pve, that in spvp it’s different. I
I don’t understand how this long after release people are still running around without even the basics of spvp down. I’ve seen this from several sides of pvp. There was a guy similar in wvw that ran by a fight to get a skill point while his team was fighting. Just ignored them.
Now I know that isn’t easily accounted for with a tutorial, but I would hope that better tutorials can be added for both spvp, tpvp, and wvw. Further it should be required that people complete the entire tutorial at least once on an account if they want to do any pvp.
edit: to avoid the name and shame I removed most of the guys name.
Kline,
Good points on the warrior.
thanks =) btw on that build you want to use a soilders amulet or a knights for dmg
and a signet of stamina not dolyak
Any ability that one shots somebody is stupid. Period.
That’s an opinion if I ever saw one.
Why is the ability to kill someone quickly stupid?
truth is the census of opinion, guess this is something the community cant agree upon but i guarantee you most casuals don’t like this and probably get turned off by pvp, i see no reason to only cater to the top 2%
personally though id have to agree more with the video

getting one shot with Hblades or a backstab thieve is NOT FUN FOR BOTH SIDES just the guy doing the jibbing, meaning this is not very good counterplay or gameplay by design.
nerf then buff these classes in other areas
I have a masters level degree in computer science and in trying to solve hugely complex problems with potentially millions of combinations of factors.
This game’s PvP system feels like that. There are SO many possible interactions among the class attacks, defensive moves, timing factors, and debuffs… that it will never be balanced for all players.
It’s what they call a “combinatorial explosion”.
For one thing, new players and experienced players are playing two different games. New players don’t know how to counter Hundred Blades. Experienced teams now often don’t even bother to bring a warrior to tPvP because the warrior is shut down by players who understand how to counter the warrior.
Balance the game for experienced players, and the noobs get smashed.
In that respect, ArenaNet is absolutely correct to FIRST: get ranked matches working. Let people play against people with the same limited knowledge and skills.
That, and their plans to revamp the sPvP points system to reward a different sort of play style.
That may be all they will be able to ever achieve, as far as leveling the playing field.
i’m just glad that anet at least tries to balance. other mmos I’ve played treat pvp as an afterthought
i have to agree but disagree with the warrior thing though
i agree that tpvp teams are not bringing hblade warriors but instead bringing
more support and hammer warriors to the scene
imo give the warrior issue more time and theory crafting before giving the verdict
ive already started running a titan build http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mMRzcc0zMMGnxMMGnFMGG0GaVaMmzkz8kij7khs7khS7070M7kGL70V7ofD8ofy

Am I the only one that really wishes this was in the game?
I mean, I know it would take a good bit of time to get the balance right on this, but I’m getting a bit tired of only having objective capture for sPvP and I think it’s stagnating the metagame to only have this option available.
i’m for it
but there needs to be checks and balances that makes sure that no class is too good at holding the flag (bunkers) like a movement penalty or a health penalty that stacks the longer you hold the flag etc….
I have never seen speed hacks or any kind of hacks in pvp yet but okay.
i have
on top of wall clipping and insta stacking conditions to 25 and one shot hacks
