For me, if Glint is ranged legend, i will rock Shiro/Glint with Staff and now be both melee burst as well as ranged burst. I would be unkitable in SPvP and I would be able to lock down capture points.

because one of the Sword skills dont allow capture of points. Hope you all know that.

I also want Tridents for staff skin. But keep in mind what would happen if Anet eventually gave us what we really want…. (aka Spear and Tridents on land) it would conflict with that addition of tridents to staffs. But they already share a lot of models already. So not sure about that theory for Trident —-TO-→ Land .

I don’t think so. Shiro will most likely be sword/sword combo seeing as that’s his thing. I still can see his legend working with staff altough at the price of damage.

This all depends on skills he gets. Remember however Shiro was categorized as an assassin so we can expect more Shadowsteps and cool effects. Revenant is the only profession besides Thief that gets shadowsteps

Keep in mind people. That last legend or even the Elite Spec legend could be ranged combat focused.

Meaning it deals with ranged magic attacks that allow the Revenants to fight from afar while still having a melee weapon equipped. Basically making the Revenant immune to kiting in a sense.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Knighthonor.4061

Why are people acting like you need to use a specific legend to use each weapon? Your weapon affects your 1-5 skills, your legend affects your 6-0 skills. There will be some synergy between support weapons and support legends, but that’s true of any class that can choose their utility skills, too.

That said, Rev Staff is likely going to be about as DPS focused as the Guardian Hammer. Not too embarassingly low, but definitely not its main focus. If the auto attack is a group healing tool, you can bet the weapon won’t be dedicated to doing the most damage. And the datamined skills should be viewed with skepticism, since we know that they’re probably not accurate, as seen by the datamined Ele sword skills being literally just copies of the dagger skills.

I believe people are going off the original trait reveal. each specialization (as they are called now) was associated with a Legend.

Each Specialization also had traits for certain weapons.

Revenants have only 5 skills for each Legend?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Knighthonor.4061

Knighthonor.4061

I expected each legend to have a bunch of utility abilities to choose from within the legend.

This is quite disappointing.
I hope I can at least change the order of utilities on the skillbar.

In the stress test beta where we first tried out Revenant, you could indeed swap the order of the 7-9 skills. I did so first thing. I assume this remained true for last week’s beta or people would have lit up the forums about the change.

In the last beta i played utilities been resetting its position every legend swap. Hopefully its olny a bug if not they better change it..

That was just a bug, it’s intended to save each bar’s skills independently so you can rearrange them how you like per legend. It’s already fixed internally.

Are you kidding me? This thread brings up a design question about Revenant that people have been asking and being ignored regarding since the details of Revenant were released. An Anet employee FINALLY responds to a thread regarding the subject and the response is off topic.

Simply put – your new profession seems inflexible with very few decision points for the player. The other professions with only a single weapon set have access to potentially a LOT of skills via their mechanics and utilities (kits) whereas the number of Revenant skill build combos are ridiculously low with zero room for nuance. There’s no true ‘utility’ in their utility skills. If you’re playing a ranged build and want to use Jalis then his spinning hammers utility is worthless. If you’re playing Ventari and in a situation without many projectiles then one of his utility skills is worthless to you without the ability to swap to something more useful.

The Revenant is a neat idea – but for crying out loud actually address players concerns.

This profession is like using a Smash Up deck to play against a Magic the Gathering deck.

That simply means Anet is still planning something, and forced to be silenct about it.

Remember the dreaded “Trait” thread?

Theres a problem, if Glint is the elite spec legend as some of you say, and shield is tied to glint, there is a contradiction since mesmers already got shield for their elite spec. So this means that shield is a non-elite spec weapon, or Glint is not an elite spec legend, but in either case it points out that some non-datamined weapon must be the Revenant’s elite spec weapon.

Personally I hope it will be scepter or warhorn, but it could be literally anything at this point that hasn’t already gone to a different class.

I believe all the weapons so far are baseline weapons.
5 Legends baseline. 5*4=20 utilities which fit other classes numbers.

So thats a contradiction.

Revenant - 3 More Legends

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Knighthonor.4061

Knighthonor.4061

I assume one of the not yet introduced Legends is the elite specialisation. I bet for Glint.

I concur and have said as much in the dozen or so other threads just like this one. 1 legend each for the first 4 traitlines. 1 traitline that is more associated with the mechanics and not tied to a legend exactly. Then 1 legend plus some sort of core mechanic change for each elite specialization.

I also guess that Glint will be the specialization legend and since Rytlock seems to use her, he is likely using the elite specialization himself.

If revenants only get 4 base specs, that’s 4*3=12 utility skills. In contrast, other professions have 5 sets of 4 utility skills each, for a total of 20. That seems incredibly unfair.

But if revenant gets 5 base legends, and if anet decides to add a forth utility skill to each one of them, then revenants will be comparable to the remaining professions.

Even more so, if you consider that each new elite spec brings 4 utilities to a base profession, so it would be only fair if the that was the same case for revenant’s elite specs.

Finally, their “traitline that is more associated with the mechanics and not tied to a legend exactly” happens to have plenty of synergy with the ventari. But you may be right on this one.

5*4 = 20

This is why it makes sense for them to make Legends get 4 utilities each.
also likely 5 legends baseline.

Maybe a 6th legend in Elite Spec.

And do you think a demon like Mallyx would help anyone?

I dont think the legends have much of a choice…

Legends that don’t want to lend help have penalties, mallyx inflicts conditions on the revenant. I don’t think Ventari will do that.

I disagree. Legends are only aspects for Revenants. They channel the powers and memories from them with their own free will. They dont summon the legend themselves to do the work for them.

You know I may have missed it but I didn’t see them say anything about the Tablet disappearing when you swap out of the legend, just if you move a certain distance from it or overload it. Maybe with traits and stuff you can give all sorts of passive effects on ticks within the Tablet’s circle but still be able to switch freely between Ventari and another. It does say when you first attune Ventari that you get his tablet summon skill though so that makes it kindof up in the air.

Tablet is linked to Centaur stance.
the first skill summons it.

the rest of the skills control it.

changing stances and not having it disappear would leave no control and the first skill useless.

Knighthonor.4061

Hmm, this part makes me wonder:
So, how does it work? When you first invoke Legendary Centaur Stance, you’ll have only one available skill. This skill will summon the tablet to appear next to your character. After you bring the tablet into the world, your skill bar will fill with the five legend-based skills, all of which manipulate the tablet.

The “You will only have 1 skill until you activate tablet” was what I’m thinking is odd. What is the skill? Where is it placed? Is it our heal slot? Utility? What happens to the heal slot when you are in the stance but haven’t activated the tablet yet? If you don’t have a heal until you activate the tablet, it’ll make it extremely important not to camp the Ventari stance until you absolutely need it.

Just seems very odd to me.

similar to a reverse Engineer Kit, or a reverse Warrior Rampage.

It starts off as 1 skill when you turn into the legendary Centaur. They the first skill summons the Tablet at the location of choice. then the 6-7-8-9-0 skills change into normal Legend skills.

Skill 0 will destroy the Tablet, and go back to having a single skill again.

In regards to the staff, it seems like a great secondary weapon if we could weapon swap, but I just can’t see myself taking it into battle over other weapon sets except in very specific ways. The more I see the weapons, the more I see they basically lock you in to a specific style and don’t lend well to blending. At first I was completely on board with not having a weapon swap with Revenant, but the more they reveal the more I think that is extremely limiting.

As for Ventari legend, it seem a bit cumbersome, but then I’d like to see it in action first.

Keep in mind the defensive potential for Staff in Melee combat.
With Jalis and staff, this could be a nice team up.

Here are the skills you’ll be able to use after summoning Ventari’s tablet:
Ventari’s Will

“Will the tablet toward the target location. As the tablet moves, it will heal allies it passes through.”

This is a core skill of the legend since the other skills are based around commanding the tablet to do something. Because the tablet heals allies it passes through, the revenant will need to strategically coordinate with other players to get the most out of each movement.

Protective Solace

“Summon a protective barrier around the tablet that destroys enemy projectiles.”

This skill creates a barrier of natural energy around the tablet. While this barrier is active, it will destroy all projectiles that come into contact with it. This is the upkeep skill for the legend, so you can toggle it on or off at the cost of rapidly depleting your energy bar. The tablet can be moved while the barrier is active.

Energy Expulsion

“Force energy to erupt from the tablet, knocking back foes and leaving behind energy fragments that heal allies.”

This is the elite skill, which I briefly touched on before. It will send a surge of energy through the tablet, dismissing it. Foes will be knocked back by the energy forced through the tablet, so you can use it at opportune times to interrupt key skills or even knock enemies away from a downed ally. Energy fragments are left around the area as well, and allies will be able to walk over these fragments to receive healing, similar to the staff skill Rejuvenating Assault.

WvW is an awesome feature. And I must suggest for others to at least buy an account for one of the larger major WvW servers.

But I refuse to jump servers on my main accounts. Thats not my kind of thing in MMOs unless forced (server merge, or no server anchors).

But on Smaller WvW servers, I really want more smaller task for soloing in eternal battleground and borderlands.

its hard to capture points when outnumbered and one of the few on the map for your faction. Also not as fun.

I would really like for more smaller task that could benefit my faction.

I am not a fan of just simple roaming for 1v1 kills. Thats not really productive to the WvW concept IMO. I want jobs that can help my faction when outnumbered.
