What Ele traits should become baseline?

Yeah it might as well just be a full 25 stability stacks. It only lasts a second, so even with extreme boon duration you’re not going to be getting much more than that. The point of that stability is to make it so you can’t be interrupted on your use of stomp, but having just the one stack can prevent that sometimes.
But maybe they want it that way for a sense of counterplay? I dunno, seems like a weak excuse to me, especially since stomp is an uncommon utility to bring at the best of times. You can cancel the stomp animation and move around for a bit with the stability, which is useful for getting out of rings of warding, but that’s a fault of the skill design itself. It should either have a uncancellable animation or just work some other way.
also if animation is canceled it goes on full cooldown.
I could rock this.
but i dont know about riding a bear. I have a norn warrior. I would like a Horse like humans.
Any sort of Pet/AI seems unlikely
I don’t think Warrior getting AI is unlikely at all. For example Warrior could get a spec called Warlord or General or something like that and get soldiers or like soldier spirits they call to battle. Like, healing skill is a called Mender/Healer and goes around healing and buffing you until killed and then you could have generic soldier summons like Archer, Footman, Squire, Pikeman and Fighter for the utilities.
Aragorn? Something like the Oathbreakers would be nice and all but that sounds like a Necro/Revenant thing.
I dunno man, I just said spirits because some people might have a problem with corporeal live soldiers popping out of the ground outta nowhere even though Thief has skills that do that. I personally don’t care one bit about justifying skills with lore or whatever.
Its just game mechanics to explain lore to it. Charr racial also has this ability so i dont see how its a reach to spawn live soldiers adventurers and Scholars to the battlefield.
I actually like that idea more honestly.
Finding a utility type that hasn’t already been used and can make some sort of sense on Warrior is tricky. Any sort of Pet/AI seems unlikely, Gadgets are a bit too close to Physical skills, and many other either overlap in theme or are just too tied to another class thematically.
One type does stand out, Mantras. I’ve always found the mechanic behind these skills to be interesting. On Mesmer, you can set up a build that is almost immortal 1v1 (high condi cleanse, healing for both you and those around you) and the traits surrounding them give the skills dual purpose.
Thematically, it would be possible to spin the skills in such a way that they aren’t necessarily magical (although Warriors already sort of use magic in the form of Signets) in nature but that the chant you recite gives you some sort of power.
There’s a lot you can do with Mantras gameplay wise. You can have a low CD and “spammy” skills like Mantra of Pain (something like Distracting Blow or Distracting Strike), one that gives a type of CC that Physical Skills don’t provide (Taunt?), and some sort of sustain focused ability (Maybe a Stun Breaker that does a small push back when you use it). The Elite is where you could add a bit more skill to the class. Perhaps something like “Flourish”: only it recharges your Mantra charges. It would theoretically force you to manage your charges and not just spamming them so that you can avoid the lengthy cast time.
This probably isn’t what we’re going to get, but the concept struck me as interesting.
The problem here is how would an elite like that work? It depends completely on the player having othet mantras in their build which they may not. Making it a waste. No elite or skill on the normal bar rely on other utility to be used except chains.
if Mantras were coming, i would really hope for some powerful support and defense. Because mantras in melee combat in pvp seem like it can be a nightmare.
I want a chant that grants my character the “Anti Life Equation”…. :^)
I feel warrior is boring because i dont get as many unique (non boon/condition buffer skills) like other classes get.
Honestly this one of the reasons i hope the elite spec has some kind of magic to it. Cant be a coincidence that all the magic oriented classes (including thieves) get unique skills but i am stuck with stupid passive signets and a couple of lame banners. Only skills i would put in the unique category are physicals.
Add 3 stability to Stomp, instead of 1.
Or better yet, think about changing the interrupt mechanics of Stomp all together.
I think the end answer, if I’m perfectly frank is “This game just isn’t for really hardcore dungeon types”.
I knew that when I started. It was much the same from GW1 that I spent a few years in. But not once have I said in forums “GW2 needs public dungeons like UO does/did etc”. It’s called self control. Lest why would I screw up my gameplay having multiple games with the same exact gameplay? Oh yeah, they [public school systems] teach kids now-a-days (for some time now) how the hive mind is king and everyone/everything should be the same. It gives marketing a single target to focus on (makes them happy), rather than the diversity of interest that is hard to contain. So if one game is popular using instanced raiding, every game needs to have it, comrade.
you are being pretty deceptive.
because that same argument you call logic, can be applied to any feature that happens to be in other games.
*Party Dungeons
*Classes
*Events
*Quest
*Instanced PvP
list goes on.
In WOW “Raid” orignally meant more then 1 group – in that game groups were 5 people, same as GW2. I would say keeping the name and that definition is the way to go.
Not all raid content had to be dungeons though. I remember doing quite a few open-world pvp “raids” before people figured out that it was completely pointless. It wasn’t until a bit later that “raiding” came to mean the large, instanced dungeon it does now.
Well in WoW there were two different terms.
*Raids
*Raid Dungeons.
Dungeons were mostly Instanced with a few open world dungeons in the game.
Raids is to have something larger than standard party size.
Raid dungeons are dungeons designed around raid groups bigger than standard group side.
So raid dungeons themselves are Instanced dungeons for larger than standard group size.

Yeah but would you be okay with playing the same build for 1-3 years with nothing new to change things up?
Who says you can’t change a legend from time to time? Also: New elite specs.
5 legends all with preset skills,,,,
Can only use 2 at a time. So 10 combos. No telling if some of the skills on each legend aren’t desirable.
So can you deal with that exclusively for 1-3 years before the next expansion with a new elite spec comes out?
Why do we have chalenges == raids though?
Anet hired Raid developers, and they told us the challenging content isn’t open world content which they will also make challenging but isn’t the challenging group content that was talked about.
No they said Wyvern isn’t the Challenging Content, and they said they want general Open World to be more challenging. Not quite the same as saying Open World isn’t the challenging content. We still have to wait to see what it is.
If they find a way to make challenging Open World content I’ll be impressed and quite happy, but I simply doubt it can be done. If they resort to pseudo instances (smaller maps with controlled flow of people) then I’d simply call it instances and consider it a move to a more natural/immersive version of such content, but not Open World.
Come on now. You are starting to sound like one of those people that were arguing with everybody that HoT wasnt an expansion….

I’m not worried about losing a little customization. So long as I can find a good synergy between my chosen weapon, legends, gear and traits, I will be happy. And providing they can add useful skills to every legend there shouldn’t be a problem.
A lot of core builds tend to use 2 or more of the same type of utility skill as it is, so I do not think the revenant will be a lot different in that respect. They may lose a little customization, but so long as they offer a variety of viable builds, I don’t think it will be a problem.
Utility skills are only one part of your build. Weapons, armour, runes, sigils and traits are also important factors. So really in the grand scheme of things, utility skill choice is only a small part of the big picture. Some builds may be defined by them but those builds tend to have most or all slots filled by the same skill type, and often many traits are focused on that skill type too (mediguard for example). How is that any different to choosing a legend and traiting around it?
Another thing to consider, is because the skills are balanced around being fixed to a specific legend, they can potentially make them a little more powerful than some core utilty skills, because they do not need to worry about players combining skills from 3 different legends.

Many GW2 players actually want
Yep, and the argument usually progresses to there. It’ll never be a good as your beloved game, no matter what, it’s just not “WoW” in the end. Same as happened to many once good games. Some people are happy playing two totally different games, others… cannot. It’s a promise that has wrecked a many great ships upon the rocks. Alas…
Hey everybody DAoC, EQ and AC all all like WoW….you heard it here first!
Hello everybody. Something i have noticed for a while now, is that the GW2 community seem to get less upset about certain features that they may have been against,
as long as it goes by a different name, than other known MMOs call that same feature.
Raid Dungeons seem to be one of those features that is looked down upon in the GW2 community compared to the general MMO community.
If Anet has any intentions to add Raid Dungeons, I believe it would be in Arena Net’s best interest to change the name of the feature to not ring too many bells the wrong way.
This is where you all come in.
whats some substitutes names for Raid Dungeons feature?
Ok here there is the link from where I take this information:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/App-for-Android-and-Iphone/first#post5108060
I think that is a great idea. I can take the daily chest, buy armor, weapon, ecc from everwhere…. I need just a mobile phone and a connection. For example is coming the summer we all traveler. We need to connect 2 sec and we will take the chest, ecc
OP you should apply for the Anet Art Team.
You fit right in….
D/w staff

TY notice major difference.
I am assuming a power build since you’re running lich?
use locust swarm, immobilize a target, drop wells, go into ds, use 4 and 5. One of those things should proc your air and fire sigils, and the rest are nice damage to multiple targets.Alternatively, take the down state damage trait, kill yourself, and then burst them down
what weapons work best for Wells in PvP?
I am trying to figure out the best way to increase damage output burst wise in SPvP without Lich Form.
any ideas?
wow Dragon Hunters look beastly!!!
Maybe they should be the people hunted perhaps?
I start duels at 50%. If someone wants to duel with me having 0 life force than I refuse, because its a big advantage for whoever I’m fighting.
My opinion may not be popular or accepted but to me it’s like you said, fighting without my class mechanic and main defense.
what thats not fair is it tho?
Sounds like more Black Lion Chest RNG grind they are preparing for…
From what I remember Anet saying in their blog post about the Itzel and Nuoch is that the red Hylek that are trying to convert your new froggy friends by forcing it upon them.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hylek-in-the-heart-of-thorns/ In here the describe the red Hylek/Zintl fanactics as “These traditional hylek have come to Maguuma to forcibly convert the Itzel and Nuhoch back to worshipping their sun god, Zintl. Led by charismatic demagogues and mounted* on giant beetles, the Zintl fanatics have begun a brutal campaign of terror and manipulation to force the Itzel and the Nuhoch into recanting their faith in Ameyalli in favor of Zintl.”

DID SOMEBODY SAY “MOUNTS”?!

I wonder how the long term fun factor of the Rev class is being built. They dont seem to have many options for customization. In other words, they dont seem to have many ways to change the gameplay of the class to feel refreshing for a year+ long expansion, if we are to compare how Vanilla GW2 was handled.
I want to see some video play of hammer in action. I see a lot of complaints about it.
Whats this sll about?
I believe Revenant will get 5 legends, and one of them is Ranged Damage focused. Hammer right now doesnt work out with the two current legends which are built more for the other unrevealed weapons and the current known single handers.
Wait jumping puzzles for Mastery points?
I dont like that.
Is HoT more group focused rather than solo oriented?
Does Warrior in beta have 2 burst skills UI?
Any Revenant Twitchers on right now?
so whats not in the beta?
I want a refund
yeah I need some outfits that fit Charr. I have two Charr. one an Engineer and other a Necro. come on. Lets do this Anet. Give them a 4/5 on this outfit tho for other races.
Sword gets 1/5 because its lame.
I was about to buy the chain whip, but I’m glad I watched the Dulfy video first. The whip part is virtually non-existant. Certainly not enough to warrant such a high price tag for it.
I’ll mull on it
I should have finished reading this thread before buying.
I would have seen this post. I agree. not worth 600 gems…
Well, actually support is exaclt the thing ranger is missing. So, I think that it fits perfectly on ranger. DPS you say? as if Longbow/Gs was not enough of dps for a ranger.
Well, It is not a obligatory to play new elite specializations, and it will have more specializations in future, so it simple have no reason to stop playing your ranger. A lot of people dislike their main professions specializations (I’ll not change my guardian for trap things), but that don’t compromise anyone gameplay.
You can still play your ranger exactly how you do today, specialization its not the unique thing that HoT will bring on
But what new skill type fits the support role?
Stances? Tricks? Gadgets?
I think we should be allowed to troll in game and forum.
It makes things so much more interesting.By trolling I mean non-malicious trolling.
For example, hmm…anyone knows any non-malicious trolling?
Your momma jokes fit this.
OP doesn’t understand ranged vs melee DPS. I stopped reading.
Is it just me or does Ranger staff seem like it’s melee?
Doesn’t look like it from the ONE skill we have seen used. However, from some datamining we can see that the Rev staff skills are melee.
I meant more melee range instead of melee swings.
that vine attack we saw looks like a close range attack.

Has Anet said anything on this?
Kids these days. Bring back the Guild Wars 1 healing signet! (From what I recall, it was a decent spike heal on a low cooldown, but you took double damage during the activation. No passive effect.)
That would not work in GW2. Imagine that skill in WvW. Suicide.
Good point. Each legend has to have double the set of skills. Lol. Bet Anet regrets the underwater combat system now as much as we do?
Any plan for an elite specialization reveal this week? Or was the break two weeks instead of one?
The last idea would be exploited to harrass people on the Internet. .
Is it just me or does Ranger staff seem like it’s melee?
Where is it mentioned that this is nerfed?
I like this actually.
the passive would need better group support. thats the role I want to be better since I play that role.
Hi I am kind of bored, and I became interested in trying some new play styles. I am interested in testing out experimental builds for Warriors, Necro, Guardians, Rangers and Engineers.
If you have any experimental builds that you are working on and need more feedback, please share here or send me a PM with the build so I may help.
