Coverage does not equal Zerg size, yesterday I have seen [agg] with a 70 man Zerg get obliterated by a 40 man [Foo] Zerg again and again. It all comes down to skill honestly.

Since when does [Agg] field 70+……lol, and FOO zergs during NA time?

FOo have been super sneaky in hiding their true time zone. They’re all secretly housed in an abandoned missile silo in the bible belt of America.

Someone in Agg must have found out their secret, and thus FOo had to come out to silence them.

I don’t mind doing everything else with everyone else. I just want a community that’s competitive in wvw during our primetime.

If you have a group of SEA players to keep things competitive, consider helping out SoR to round out the player base for all 3 servers in that time zone.

Nope, Red drew the short straw in EBG. Blue side is in the middle, and Green made out like a bandit.

As far as any advantage with SM goes, it’s a subjective perception. Any territory lose is more due to server WvW population and cohesion of guild commanders doing the thankless job of zerg herding.

I’m in all honestly sick of being one of the 5 people in EB at night, I’m a late night gamer. Usually on weekdays from 12-5am. (EST)

So what servers have a decent night time wvw player base? But don’t actually steamroll over everyone else at those hours, cause lets face it, that’s boring.

Your basically looking for a PST – OCE presence. Most of that are on T1 servers, some in T2. For T1, JQ & BG. For T2 KN & FA.

If you want to help a server, I’d recommend jumping on any of the T1/T2 underdog servers, which at this point is SoS and SoR.

I think you can draw a few conclusions from what we’re seeing on the scoreboard. To begin with, JQ has no major EU guild coverage. Hence, it’s reasonably safe to presume that BG will continue to post 300-400 ppt during the weekdays and remain dominant during that time.

I believe from the last gw2junkies show, VoTF mentioned they have people on JQ.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how long we will be around to continue fighting you as I suspect Kaineg will drop us down to T2. I wish it were otherwise, but I don’t think we can put enough points up on the board during our 12 hour coverage period against two competitive servers to stay in T1 for long. I promise we will keep bringing the fight to you though for as long as we can though.

I’ll presume your from SoR, KN has less coverage. The only way SoR is going to drop tiers is by not showing up, and I would be very surprised to see that happen.

I dont wanna waste 1000 gems (O.o) on it, and then 1000 back to my server, I dont have gold for it.

You will have to spend the gold to transfer to a server that is dominating it’s tier against 2 mostly inactive WvW servers to finish your map completion. Then guest back on your old server till you have funds to transfer back if you really want to be hard linked to it.

Even If JQ were to lose a match, rating would keep JQ #1 for the following week. JQ also had a large stable WvW player core before the transfer lockdown. So it wouldn’t lose more than a few fair weather guilds in the worst case.

The other thing is to also take into account that T1 will be competitive with 3 heavily active servers kicking each other as much as possible in the jollies. So if there is an exchange of crowns it will be hard fought and won by sub 30k leads.

I saw this earlier. It was just a bunch of people dueling from two servers dueling each other.

From what I saw in map chat, it was directly hurting our efforts in the rest of the map. These were people who were essentially taking up a world vs. world slot while failing to contribute in any way to the group. It’s basically the equivalent to people AFK botting in a battleground in other games.

It’s due to the serious lack of PvP resources from Anet. No Dueling option and no GvG is why you see players using WvW areas. You complain as if this should be punished vs properly yelling at Anet to provide proper game play options.

What could be done about server pops? What if ANET offered free transfers from high pop servers to low pop servers? Has anyone been talking about this?

Server rated population doesn’t reflect the actual participating PvP population. All T1 servers in your example are rated as Very High since the changes, and were all Full before the transfer changes.

If the Kaineng crew that has coverage in BGs weak spot would transfer to BG, then BG would be a HB/Thai type guild during NA prime from being JQs equal. Then let SoR and SoS flip a coin on which server to load up to equal coverage and the left over moves down to T2, then you have 6 equal servers, good fights and such

If the goal of the format is true 24/7 fights. Then the whole system would need to be rebuilt from scratch. Since the chances of that happening are zilch, I’d settle for top 6 as defacto PvP servers and T3 – T8 just merge up.

I’ve never done PvE, and leveled 5 toons to 80 in WvW alone, and they’re all fully geared in Exotics. I don’t have a single piece of Ascended Gear, and I run solo 90% of the time, and compete very well with other players.

Dumbing the game down to easy mode play is not going to get GW2 into eSports, nor will it make the game challenging. They dumbed down sPvP so bad, it isn’t a challenge, and it isn’t even close to being balanced.

You want to see something funny? Go to the sPvP forums. They complain about the RANGER. Who in thier right mind, and is good at the game loses to a Ranger? I have five full exotic geared toons, and I have never had a single Ranger kill me, ever. And I run solo almost all the time.

Anyone that would argue that sPvP is balanced shouldn’t be taken seriously. All they’ve done is remove a lot of choices, and that is it. We don’t need WvW dumbed down.

I love the aspect of challenge in WvW running solo, fighting under the added element of siege, where damage is high enough, you could go splat in an instance, if you make a minor mistake. In sPvP you can make mistake, after mistake, after mistake, and the damge is so weak, you never have to learn from your mistakes.

Your misinterpreting way to much, they only thing i’m advocating for is a relief to power creep. The quickest solution given Anet’s fail resources would be to allow premades for those that have zero interest in PvE. Since adding equivalent items to the WvW vendors seems to be to much for them.

The SPvP play format, agreed is woefully incomplete. It’s a pitiful shadow compared to GW1 PvP. Hell, no GvG in Guildwars2 really Anet?

If ‘pvp’ players want to partake in W3 they should put in the same effort and work that W3 players have had to with their characters.

As for bringing them closer together I see that as an issue with the players, after all they sure do like to keep making the distinction that wuvwuv ISN’T PvP, and that THEY are PvPers while putting down wuvwuvers at every opportunity.

TLDR: No free rides for the elitists.

The elitists as you call them, are the PvP guilds that carry their server to competitive tiers. Without the hardcore PvP players in WvW/SPvP there is no PvP, it’s carebear pillow fights and will be as dead as T8.

If Anet wants GW2 to be taken seriously for competitive PvP, the SPvP premade system migrated to WvW would bring that.

It bring everyone in line eliminating power creep, and becomes what it should always be. A skill based competition. If you don’t understand power creep go read up Taugrim’s article on it.

No one is asking for a free ride, but no one wants to waste their time doing PvE they’re not interested in.

All I can say is, I’m looking forward to fighting Kain and TC next week.

Kain for the old WM rivals and TC because they’re awesome.

It’ll still be about 2 more weeks at the earliest, since there’s no change in the rating system. It could happen faster if there’s a WvW boycott though.

On a side note, it would be interesting if there was a mass boycott of WvW across all servers showing displeasure at the shallow resources the PvP side of the game is getting.

Given the vitrol in the T1 thread, and the fact BG is an older memory for SoR. I’ll lean on the side right now there’s more angst towards JQ atm. Some from SoR even rooted for us when we went to T1 last time. I’d expect SoR wouldn’t mind BG pushing hard on JQ for a change.

What is going on?, is ANet aware of this and responded somewhere?

Skill lag has been in since Live, nothing new here. The server is under heavy load and can’t handle large 3 way fights.

I can only toss a suspicion that WvW map caps are being adjusted without public knowledge. Last week it was odd having que’s on all 4 maps, generally not something BG has been known for during the weekdays. Which also made 3 way fights have less noticeable skill lag.

Something I would like to see and I think might help, would be to have a zerg always appear on the map.

(It might also encourage an equal sized zerg to rally up and meet that other zerg on the open field, which should be interesting.)

Interesting idea, it could add new dynamics for zerg herding and coordinated strikes from guild groups.

Also Necro played well with a solid guild group will end an evening between 500 – 1500 kills. It really depends on how many times the other team decides to throw their bodies in the the grinder.

So, what you are saying is to throw out everything that one of the developers who wrote and maintains the queue code is saying in favor of what is most likely emotionally-exaggerated, due to frustration with the long queues, claims? I’m sorry, but I will not do that.

Your drawing the wrong conclusions. I brought up the same issue he said earlier, from the lack of what the devs posted on the subject.

There is a pretty good chance the DB is not properly clearing offline players, thus the Que thread making DB requests is getting an inaccurate number of open slots. Any dev worth their salt will tell you there’s no such thing as perfect error free code.

SoR relies more on Zergs, while BG relies on strategy and trying to use as little as possible to do a lot.

However, BG Zergs (if they do zerg.) arn’t as good as ours and usually fall pretty easy, they are better as individuals, not zergs.

However, I saw a group of 5 BG kill 20 people, they are really good when they arn’t grouped up.

Zerg’s that are not of a majority guild on any server fall pretty easy. Then there’s also the fact not all guilds on every server are same, and a mixed bag depending on the time slot.

I expect better guilds on each server to farm pug zergs, and have mixed encounters depending on the guilds they face.

There’s no point generalizing servers given the limited perspective.

Then there are the times that they don’t appear at all. Our 5 man was taking a supply camp and not a single one of us saw a single enemy player at range until they were literally standing on top of us. The camp models and the spiders mobs on the other side taking prioritization? Who knows

Now this is the issue the updated friend/foe binning should be checked for. NPC objects, and especially non-hostile ones should hopefully not have priority over players.

You do know that culling is server side right? Your system is only going to affect the rendering, not the culling of the models.

If the caps were lowered. It may have been done to reduce the server side load, thus lowering the chance of skill lag during 3 ways fights. Obviously only a dev can confirm such changes.

Unfortunately you cannot possibly know that.

The only official response has stated that the queues on TC are acceptable, intended, and that all the “missing” players are indeed present. You can see this response on the first page of the following thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Any-Tarnished-Coast-citizens-agree/first he even goes on to explain exactly how the queues work. I used this information, some educated observation (I’m a Software Engineer), and some plain old common sense to formulate my OP. where’s your proof outside of wild speculation and anecdotal claims?

Since no one else has pointed this out. Habib has yet to post if he had a chance to verify that the map slots were being properly cleared from the DB when players logout. There was no mention of player status in post when he polled the DB, just that he was able to poll for player names and presumably saw some movement of the lists. Even you cannot ignore that fact that players “offline” are still showing up on the maps. Nothing has been debunked, this requires more investigation.

This poll is flawed. The latest update was to help load assets faster for players with slow machines, and changed to friend/foe binning for assets being rendered vs an all or nothing.

Culling has not been resolved, it’s servers side, and the devs have clearly stated they’re still working on resolving it.

Im still trying to figure out how SBI went from being the best server for WvW to now being one of the worst with hardly anyone ever on. Finally met up with the group and took everything back in our boarderlands. Hoping they will come to Eternal. The entire map is ripe for the taking.

HoD, ET, SBI, etc.. shows how a very small population relative to it’s PvE pop affects WvW outcome when they decide to leave.

This video also demonstrates some particularly bad culling issues. In the third fight VS TC in the NE part of Bay, myself and some other people in a gank squad are killing from the west side (you can see the dunk marks on Azi’s minimap) but we didn’t render to friendlies for the entire fight.

The last fight with KnT shows what appears to be a peculiarity with the new culling mechanic I suspect, in that it appears to have a variable range at which characters are forced to cull past a certain range, even if already loaded. At the start of the fight it’s around 1600, but for whatever reason (I suppose proximity) that range deteriorated to around 800 mid fight, as you see us flow in and out of vision depending on Azilyi’s perspective. It’s equal in so far as neither side has any idea how many people the other have

The lack of total models being updated to screen, is per Habib a server side limit. I’m only guessing the total Enemy/Friendly binning is probably limited to 25 per side to match squad caps, with a priority for nearest friendly/foe.

In the end it’s something everyone hopes Anet can resolve soon.

PvP players don’t want PvE in their WvW either, but PvE tears are so delicious thus there’s JP camping.

I wouldn’t mind at all if SoS dropped down to tier 2 for next weeks match. Let BG, SOR fight against JQ. I think Tier 1 would be better off having 3 servers hungry for a win. SoS would be better suited dropping down, regrouping, chilling out for a couple of weeks. This reset couldn’t of come at a better time.

I have no idea what the size of SoR is currently but it would be nice if another server could match the size of JQ zergs. It’s clearly obvious SoS and BG even if they teamed up still would struggle against JQ’s numbers.

Glicko is dictating even if BG gets #2 in this match, it’s going to be in T2. If SoS wanted to game the rating hard to drop to T2 for the reset. SoS would have had to sandbag the match all week to throw a ton more rating at BG and JQ.

After next weeks match is over the Big4 will be separated for a few weeks due to a few lower tier servers sustaining their blowouts to mostly dead servers. So in a way SoS gets it’s break the week after next.

We had 20 guys trying to 1 thief from destroying all the siege. But they kept on hitting the siege to gain stealth. So basically thieves can run around attacking walls and siege and stealthing off that. cool trick >:(

also the culling bug is still there with thieves. Some thief just went invis to do the finishing move on me and didn’t come out of stealth once he/she did it. sigh.

If 20 players can’t be bothered to use CC’s on a thief, they deserve to get trolled.

TIP: You can still Dmg/CC a thief while they’re in stealth.

on top of that one of there busiest citys has been flooded, the other half of australia is on fire.

Meh, we’ve got at least another 2 months of cyclones and a reasonably large amount of the place burns down every summer. I just hate working in telco, it just means extra work fixing everything so people can play games and calling emergency services.
(As opposed to their usual routine of playing games, calling their drug dealers and ordering pizza.)

I’m surprised nobody noticed the BIG thing at the top of the list. Preloaded placeholder models. THIS COULD BE A BLOW AGAINST CULLING.

After all, culling was caused when too much info on characters was pushed through the line at once, causing a backup, causing culling. Placeholder models essentially says “Yes, there’s something here. We don’t know WHAT but it’s something.”

So you may not know the composition of the enemy force, but you’ll at least know there’s 30 of them about to zerg over your little squad of 2.

Sadly this does little to solve the main issue of having a total asset cap. This patch only helps those on slow machines to see the limited assets faster. It does not solve the problem of invisible enemies at all.
