Honestly, it was a good move – the two weaker servers teamed up to defeat the stronger one. It should be done more often. And if it were, WvWvW would be more fun. Look at this matchup… it was meaningful down to the last few hours of the last day! I’ll take that any week of the year over the typical way it goes down lately! Win or lose!

Hopefully, what YB and EB did will be contagious, and we’ll see more exciting matches in NA and EU.

Elementalist Animation & Skill Use Error

All kinds of ANIMATION GLITCHES in the recent past weeks. Look at the lingering Ranger Swoop Animation that doesn’t go away once it gets stuck unless you leave the map. A real problem if you WvW on a queued server. It’s very annoying and makes it difficult to hear skill sounds and other animations and movements.

I’ve reported it in game and on this “BUG” forum a couple of times. No feedback from Anet. -.-

You would think this would be a “low hanging fruit” kind of bug that can be easily fixed by changing a value on the weapon’s “on the back” position. Heaven forbid Anet makes an assessment of how the other bows in the game fit properly and make an adjustment to these bows. Personally, I think QA is the last thing Anet is concerned about. It’s all about releasing temporary content and cash shop items to generate more gem sales. Who cares if that content adds new bugs to the already existing content. And to hell with fixing things like these bows’ position.

Pick up Glitch

As a Ranger, I periodically have problems picking up the drops from my porcine (pig) pets. When this happens, my toon does the pick up motion, but doesn’t actually pick up the item. And when this occurs, I can’t use any of my skills again until I die. -.-

I’m not sure if your situation and what I’m experiencing is related, but my situation started happening about a month ago. NOTE: my pick up issues are always in WvW, but that’s the only area of the game I play anymore. (And soon I won’t be doing that at the present rate of bug releases that Anet seems to like to dish out.)

They’re having all kinds of graphical glitches/bugs. From the funky GS twirl while it’s on your back and you’re running, to the Swoop eagle flapping animation getting stuck until you do a map change… and now the Incredible Disappearing Ranger!

Us rangers must have gotten a new perma-stealth skill that wasn’t in the release notes.

Gotta love the testing and quality assurance! pfft!

Can i keybind deselecting a target or am i stuck using the escape button to deselect a target so i can actually use my movement skills without getting myself killed?

No, not that I’m aware of, and that would be too easy. You have to either….

Hit escape (sometimes more than once) and then try to get your hand correctly back on your keys to hit your movement skill

-OR-

click with your mouse button frantically on a friendly target or the open space, then hit your movement skill

Neither one is really desirable imo. I try and use the 2nd option. Heaven forbid we have key binds for such things as this or Ranger pet passive/aggressive toggles or pet stowing. (If you play a Ranger, you’re used to this kind of lack of keybind shi…kitten.)

Yes, it was putting a Band-Aid over a bullet wound. They thru in some achievements and the promise of an end-of-the-season chest into WvW. Basically, a distraction attempt from the real problem with WvW – population imbalance regarding the matchup system.

And for a lot of people, it has been very disappointing as they were roflstomped weekly and found out they can’t get their achievements done. So no chest prize for these 3rd world server folks.

So, yeah, I’m disappointed.

I experienced the same thing on my Norn ranger last week. It’s particularly bad if it happens in WvW because logging or changing maps means another 2 hour queue.

I’m getting this animation glitch on Ranger Swoop GS daily now in WvW. I can’t play more than 1 hour w/o it showing up.

The kitten constant wing flapping noise makes it hard to hear other skill sounds, which I depend on to fight as effectively as possible. Also, visually, it’s very distracting and hard to see my weapon changes while in combat. It started happening around 1 to 2 weeks ago. It seems to trigger when I’m in the thick of combat (zerg vs zerg fighting) and using my GS heavily.

When it happens now, I just exit out of Gw2 for the remainder of the day. I’m not waiting hours in queue to get back into WvW due to this.

This needs FIXED ASAP!

I’ve reported it in game and on this forum. CAN a ANET DEV respond, please?

Since these animation changes, my female ranger’s swoop animation is getting stuck occasionally. And the only way to get it “unstuck” is to leave the map. Very annoying!!! And having to leave maps with queues sometimes several hours long really sucks!

This is just like the WvW blue color map change. Why in the hell would you kitten with it? It was fine and now it’s broken.

I’ve gotten this a few times now in the last week. The Greatsword skill Swoop will have an animation issue after using the skill where it never goes away unless you leave the map or log off. (Not even death gets rid of it. ) It’s continuous and, as you can see in the image, it’s even on while I’m in water.

I play a ranger on SBI, and our EB has a queue almost 24 hours a day, so I really dont want to leave the map.

Please fix.

It’s worse now.. there’s swirly animations around me along with the annoying swoop animation that I cant get rid of except my leaving the QUEDED for hours EB map.

Anet, this is probably due the human run change. Please FIX ASAP.

Whenever i jump while running, my Greatsword “spins” 360 degrees on my back. Weapon must be stowed for this issue to occur. Very annoying visual bug.

Playing Female Human. Issue started after the patch that changed Human Female running animation.

You can go to the Mists and preview the items from your PvP locker. You can copy the ‘chat code’ from the Wiki and preview the items that way. You can use any of your identified, unopened dyes on the preview, or use the TP dyes, or again, use the Wiki for ‘chat codes’ for dyes. The codes for dyes and items can be found on Dulfy and the GW2database, as well.

Oh, and you can ask in chat or your guild or a friend to post the item in chat and preview it there, as well.

this skin looks quite dumb in any color other than black. which is what it was previewed in. when you go to dye it there are parts that remain black and green which do not go with the rest of my armor. i would like to politely ask for a refund of gems.

If you would like to ask for a refund, you would have to contact Customer Support. Top of page – Support. If I might make a suggestion, in the future, try out some different dyes on a piece of armor before purchasing. That way, you won’t be in for any surprises. =) There are several different methods to accomplish this.

That’s good info about how to go about getting a refund. But how do you preview Gem Store items so you can also preview them with dyes, like you can with TP (player posted) items. I tried and I cant see how to get the Gem Store Toxic Gloves into the regular preview window. Right clicking doesn’t work.

If I’m not mistaken, it isn’t the stealth that causes them to escape the vines. It is the trait that removes a condition every 3s while in stealth that allows them to escape (or one of their several evade skills). In fact, the only profession that struggles to escape the vines is necromancer if you already forced out their heal.

Stealth lets them escape Entangle.

Just let me stow my pet and keep him stowed regardless of whether I’m in combat or not. And for the love of all that’s sacred and created equal… let me have a kitten key bind option for stowing/unstowing and passive/attack mode.

But the above is too much to ask from Anet, so I’ll settle for just giving my pets the PvE HP boost in WvW. Maybe then while he’s following me around in passive mode, he won’t get constantly killed by AC and AOE fire.

Disagree here, its a pet class the only problem is that the pets are unreliable in terms of timing. Can’t tell you how many times my pet has canceled his f2 skill because I had to dodge roll two feet away, then it’s on CD and I’m SOL.

Hahaha…forget about dodge rolling, heck, if I’m moving or my pet is moving, the F2 skill usually doesn’t work when I’m fighting in WvW. And, yes, the CD kicks off regardless. It’s like my pet gives me the finger and then kicks me in the kitten for even thinking about pressing the F2 button. What an insult!

No, Ichan, you are not imagining things. I often have to hit the key I have bound to “nearest enemy” twice in order to actually get the enemy that’s closest targeted. (And at times, I’ve even had to use the mouse to click the enemy right in my face that refuses to be targeted with Tab or my nearest enemy button – Mouse4).

With the above said, I think it’s gotten a little better in the last few weeks. Anet may have changed something, or I’ve just become more accustomed to double clicking my Mouse4 button before shooting. /shrugs.

And we need to have the Avoid combat/Guard button in a key bind, i.e. F5. Trying to click it during WvW battles is a joke.

If ranger pets would just work right, flawless fighting from the ranger wouldn’t be necessary. It really kittens me off when easily 1/2 the time (or more) the F2 skill doesn’t work. And whether it works or not, the CD kicks off. That’s insult upon injury. /facepalm!

Give me working F2 functionality and I’ll be in heaven! Imagine if you hit F2 and your brown bear would stop where he’s at and 100% of the time (w/o fail) do his condition removing skill. Or the fern hound’s heal worked when you needed it as you’re running for your life and need some regen johnny on the spot. As it is now, I have to stop running, call him to me with F3, wait for him to stop moving around, then hit F2 and I got about a 50/50 chance of having his heal ability actually work. Oh yeah, if I got an enemy targeted, he runs to the enemy then tries doing his heal skill. /facepalm again! Forget about getting healed on the run as I’m trying to survive.

Anet, please fix this! Pets are an abomination! We cant stow them for good, they have X percent (20% or more) of our offense, their F2 skills are hit or miss (mostly miss), their AI is slow, and their range is too small, etc.

Half the time my pet goes invisible and i’m still visible and get killed in WvW. Sometimes we both go invisible and other times just me.

Ideally, both the ranger and his pet go invisible. But I’ll take me going invisible 100% of the time over what’s presently happening.

I think a mix of the two system types (adjacent matchups and random +8/-8 ranks) would be better to have than going back to what we had immediately before Season 1.
Perhaps every month have 3 weeks of adjacent matchups, followed by a random +8/-8 matchup… rinse and repeat the next month. This would hopefully keep competitive matchups really common and have a little of variety every so often.

Why not just have same RNG system as before but with the volatility tweaked to make large rank disparities in a matchup much less likely.

In any case, the less notice they give for the start date of the next league (hopefully there won’t be one) the better — tanking is bad for everyone.

But here’s the thing, with anything more than adjacent matchups you usually get lopsided results. Tweaking the +/- rank number might work. It used to be +/- 8 ranks pre season 1. But unless it’s like +/- 3 (or less) ranks, it’s probably going to be alot of lopsided matchups still. I know we, SBI (rank 7), would be roflstomped by TC (rank 4), and we’ve already beat YB (rank10) by almost 200k last week. So even with +/- 3 it’s still difficult to have good match ups.

I like 3 weeks of adjacent and then one week RNG match ups because at least 75% of the time, you’re probably going to have competition that matches your server’s population with both enemy servers.

Adjacent matchups become boring if done for too long (months), so I’d like a little RNG every 4 weeks just to break up the bordem of the adjacent matchups until Anet comes up with a system that deals with the population difference/coverage problem.

What I’m suggesting is just a short term fix. I just don’t want to go back to exactly what we had immediately before season 1 either, which is basically what we have now…. weeks of many roflstomp match ups. /shrugs

Could you imagine what a kitten show it would have been (more so then now) if Devon had gotten his way and made NA 2 Leagues.

I agree, the lopsided match ups would have been even worse.

But on a positive note… Devon and Anet devs did listen to the wvw forum community and changed up NA to 3 tiers, reduced the BL bloodlust to something reasonable and they’re continuing to listen to us with the Collaborative Development threads. Plus, the Edge of the Mists is coming, and they’re making an area of the Obsidian Sanctum for guild vs guild fights.

All in all we’re moving in the right direction.

This is also a good idea because not only does it help with the queue problem of the busy servers but can also help servers like Vabbi which don’t have many people playing WvW.

Imagine… if a bronze league red faction is having trouble in their match up that week. Well, they send a PM to a commander of their silver or gold league brothers, “bros, could u spare a few people waiting in your queue to come down and help us get our garrison back?” I’d bet most people would help out their brothers and sisters of the same faction that are in a jam.

Plus it can help strengthen cross-server ties and build the wvw community, like the PVE’ers do it with dungeon guesting. And while say a gold league guild is helping out their bros in their bronze match up, they show them some T1 tactics. The gold league guys/gals get to get out of queue and play wvw and the bronze leaguers get some disparately needed help, while everybody builds a stronger wvw community. Sounds like a win/win to me.

I’d love to see something like this happen.

Until wvw is redesiged, it’ll be what it has been:

1) Either you fight the same worlds/servers for sometimes months on end and have close match ups, which is what we had before the RNG +8/-8 ranks systems went into place. (Fighting the same servers got stale and boring, so…. Anet changed it up and did #2 below.)

-OR-

2) You have rotfstomp match ups often (you could be the stomper or the stomped) and sometimes have a close match up when you fight adjacent ranks. The league is bascially this approach with a slight modification on the +/- match ups and it groups servers up – gold, silver, and bronze.

I personally like an idea that I’ve seen posted in these forums that involves factions based on the 3 WvW colors – green, blue, and red. Where groups of severs belong to a faction color based on rank. Basically, each faction color has strong, medium and weak servers in them to try and make things fair.

There’s a youtube video created by El Taquito Bandito/battleaxemultimedia that explains it all. He says it’s not his idea, but he put the idea together in a video form, which I greatly appreciate. IMO it’s a very good video and is worth checking out and could potentially save us from option 1 and 2 above.

Depends on the commander and the group. Why are so many people caring about some kitten greens and blues so much?

Aren’t we playing WvW for fun?

Tonight, we (SBI) had BPs garrison for awhile. We kept defending, repairing, etc, the garrison for well over an hour until they finally took it back. Did we get some bags in the process? Yep. But, the more important thing is that we had fun (and we held that ppt, and kept BP busy for a while).

I think people need to get back to the fact that WvWvW is supposed to be about competition. About, your server competiting against other servers. It isn’t just about your greens and blues.

The problem is that it’s not even a decent competition; it’s a rotfstomp in most match-ups almost every week. Very little fun on either side of that coin.

You can only beat the living hell out of someone so many times before it becomes boring and even less times have it beaten out of you before you just say “screw it”!

As far as commanding… any guy or gal willing to punish themselves and try to do that job, more power to you. It’s not like it’s really going to matter. By Monday Sunday most matchups are decided pretty much regardless who’s commanding or how. It’s more or less about superior numbers and coverage. <shrugs>

I don’t know, man. I’m getting really tired of these rotfstomp matches – pre-league as well as now during season 1. There’s no competition when you’re outnumbering the opponents 4:1 or greater. You’re just either beating the living hell out of some servers or getting the living hell beat out of you. I know Anet is trying to do something about it “now”, but this horrible wvw design is really taking its toll on me regarding the Gw2 experience. The fun factor is nearly gone.

This is a really terrible suggestion… not only it has nothing to do with wvw but also it would encourage people to fool around.

I agree duels are pretty fun, but are you out of your mind to suggest it in wvw ?

Id rather have designated areas in a town to duel a friend or being able to duel in any pve map, which would make alot more sense.

Until Anet addresses the root of the WvW problem – population imbalance within the matches, WvW will never be what it aspires to be. The trick is to figure out a way to give each server a fighting chance throughout the 7 day match up (or at least most of it) and to not sacrifice the ability to have different server matchups each week. I think, as pointed out by at least a few other people, a handicap system might work.

Is WvW fun, yes, at times it is for me. Is it as fun as it could be, no, definitely not. I just hope Anet figures out something before the competition releases a MMO with RvR that people leave GW2 for.

I think if anet insists on proceeding with the idea of leagues, we definitely need shorter matches. Being stuck with a lopsided match for an entire week is pretty demoralizing.

Whereas having new opponents to fight every couple of days might be pretty fast paced and interesting.

Sure, you’ll get cases where certain players would be completely unable to participate in certain matches due to RL commitments, but that might be an advantage as well – some matches might be an upset because coverage over the week is not even.

I think 2.9 days might be a good duration for a match. The .9 is to make reset times vary with each match, so different time zones can participate in post-reset gameplay.

IDK…I sorta like being able to overtly tell if that dude over yonder hill is a necro (w/o pets) vs being a mez or an ele. With us rangers, we’ve always been easily identified due to our pets being out 99.9% of the time. Sure we can stow a pet, but as soon as we take or deal damage.. POP – they come out even if they’re set to passive mode (which is bullkitten).

This change sorta levels the field a little bit for rangers and pet necros, even though we’re still identified w/o even being clicked on.

FA right now in my opinion is in the middle of no mans land. We’re either up against servers that dwarf us, or we are up against servers that we dwarf. I don’t remember the last time we had anything really close and exciting in my mind.

I would love to see some of the lower pop servers consolidated for this reason, or some of the top tier servers spreading out to lower pop ones.

I just checked millenium.org, and you have to go back to week 21 (17 weeks ago) for a non-extreme blow out match up involving FA.

Week 21 had FA/DB/TC. Where TC-rank4 won with 235K, 2nd place was FA-rank5 at 201K and DB-rank6 had 188K. Every contest from then til now looks like a 100K+ blow outs, except for week 24 which was around a 60K victory for DB.

17 weeks is a long time without a decent WvW match up.

Didn’t you know??…. there’s a WXP AOE cap of about 5 players (6 players MAX!) when capturing structures in WvW. Anet implemented this long ago to help reduce the strain on the hamsters that power the WvW servers.

Apparently, giving simultaneous WXP to more than a 1/2 dozen players greatly reduces server performance. :P
