Thank you for the recent additions to the Sound Options that allow us to mute certain items sounds that can easily be perceived as Annoying - i.e. The Dreamer’s horse neighing projectile sounds.

I also feel that some of the Mini’s sounds can be terribly annoying due to the sounds themselves and/or the repetitiveness of the sounds they make. (And it can be worse when you run into multiple people with the same mini.) I believe, the Sound Option that would seem to be perfect for this is – Disable Player Item Chatter. So, if checked, this option would not only disable the sounds of other people’s items like the talking backpack, but also disable the chatter/sounds of their mini’s.

NOTE: presently, the only way I see to silence the sounds of other people’s mini’s is to either turn down Effects Volume or Master Volume. Both of which, however, remove so many other sound aspects within the game.

Please consider adding Mini’s to the Disable Player Item Chatter option in Sound Options.

[Soulbeast Bug] Dolyak Stance Severely Broken

Anet,

The Dolyak Stance for Soulbeast appears to be almost totally non-functioning/broken.

When clicked, it:

1) Does NOT display the stance icon above your utility bar like other stances and provide its effect
2) Does NOT provide Retaliation or Stability (also no icons for these boons are displayed)
3) Does NOT remove cripple (and probably doesn’t remove chill or immobilization either)
4) “Does” work regarding doing a stun break, but that’s all it does at the moment from what I can see.

NOTE: I’m testing it in the sPvP lobby.

Please help us Crown a Victor and allow that victor to ascend properly from the Bowels of WvW NA!

Except Dragonbrand is only in T4 due to random shuffling. Based on rating, DB is 8th, TC is 10th, and SoS is 12th. You should have been facing HoD this week, not DB.

1-up-1-down has never actually been used. They should start with a week that’s based on pure rating with no random shuffling and then run 1-up-1-down starting at the end of that week.

DB was cast down into The Pit by the cruel and wicked sisters – Chance & Fate! But… I’m so glad it happened! >:) DB and TC have been a blast to battle against!

And I agree with you… proper tier grouping should be put into place first before the 1-up-1-down. I really hope we get to try this out soon more.

(Edit… I guess it was in place for 1 week, so says another thread :P)

Is it possible to manually do the 1-up-1-down until the bug is fixed which is keeping it from functioning automatically?

It would be greatly appreciated if you can do this manually. I’m in the T4 NA match up, and the winner could come down to the last skirmish on the last day!

Skirmish Tickets is a fulltime job

If you want end game skins, and the new WvW Legendary is something you want, it becomes a fulltime job. Not saying I’m forced to do it against my will. But Anet set the bar high, and the tickets needed take a long time to farm.

I’ve been sober for a couple of months now, so I have more control over my in-game impulses. I’m just greedy and want more for less effort to get the skin.

It’s only a full time job, if you want the armor ASAP. Treat it like the long term goal it is supposed to be and it won’t feel like a full time job.

I personally put the T2 (ascended) ,T3 armors, and the Legendary WvW back piece in the long term goal category. In my mind, they’re no different than any other WvW Achievements.

I just play the gamemode and enjoy the pillaging and the carnage; the rest will take care of itself!

Skirmish Tickets is a fulltime job

After almost 5 years, the outnumbered buff finally feels a little rewarding to those who are fighting on a map where they are… “outnumbered.” In other words, it now has some positivity associated with it for those who “actually” play the game mode.

Defending spawn tower on an enemy BL has been even more gratifying now since the patch. Roaming, killing people, taking camps, killing sentries and yaks on an outnumbered map feels even better than before! And folks on my server seem to not feel so bad when fighting outnumbered any longer (if anything, they get happy about it…haha!) And it’s an incentive for people on the map to stay there and keep up the good fight!

I like outnumbered as it is now and would like it to stay this way.

[BUG] Multiple Instances for WvW Maps

So, something is ….. strange. We seem to be caught in 2 different instances of BG, and JQ borderlands. We had people in both instances and had to do some crafty hopping to get everyone on the same map. I don’t know if it’s strictly a T1 NA error, but it’s really messing with our ability to do anything. Similarly, camps aren’t flipping the right colors when captured. GREMLINS.

This is sounding like a rather serious problem. And as one person speculated in the above reddit post – it could explain why some servers in last week’s matchup were at times seemingly receiving “double” skirmish points"… (as seen in the below post)…. because they were potentially getting points from multiple instances of the same map?

PPT Score Bug?

Maybe some of you guys and gals that understand how the scoring works can better explain, but if I am understanding things correctly (note: I am NOT a mathematician), Skirmish 44 (and some of the other skirmishes) is way off when you look at NSP’s skirmish warscore. It might have been doubled like some folks have said above.

Lets look at Skirmish 44…

Skirmish 44, NSP had a skirmish warscore of 12,463. (see image)
NSP had 410 kills in skirmish 44, which is 1 point per kill, I believe. (see image)

So that’s 12,463 – 410 = 12,053. So 12,053 points would have had to come from PPT, right? There are 24 five minute periods in a skirmish (2 hour period). So that’s 12,053/24 = 502.2, which in my mind means NSP would have had to average a PPT of 502 for the entire 2 hours of Skirmish 44 to get a grand total of 12,463 skirmish warscore.

Is there even that much real-estate on all four maps to account for this? (see image from 40 minutes ago – 409 PPT total available period.)

I believe the higher the tier a structure is the more it’s worth and I also believe you can get points for killing sentries, but still – 502 PPT average?

Yup! I’m also down with thieves running in a gank party within (or outside) the squad. Heck, I do it sometimes just by my dang self. Sorta like a clean-up man, you know? And I try to share my venom with whatever friendly is in the vicinity too.

Nothing like catching the enemy out of position, stumbling with 1/2 health trying to escape the swirling zerg-ball and then… WHAM!!! - I send him back to spawn in a body bag in .0287 seconds, baby!

When I’m in a ganking mood, I get on my thief. When I’m in a skull cracking, smash-mouth mood, I go on my warrior or guard. Every class has an opportunity to contribute in WvW imo. It’s what makes it grand!

As a WvW veteran (mithril raider), when I cleared the Diamond line for the 2nd time, my first thought was: WTH… where are my kitten tickets?!? HAHA!

Then I came to the forums yesterday, checked the wiki and found out what was going on. And I’m sorta ok with it; I mean… I’m gonna WvW regardless of this as I have been for almost 5 years. I like the game mode too much! I’m gonna earn the back piece and all the armors no matter what.

Now… as a compromise to the hard-time gating, I think a “Diminished Return” approach would be cool. This way us vets get a little extra for being long time WvW’ers, but not so much that we’re bathing in tickets. Say… every time you complete the diamond chest after the first time during the week, the ticket output gets cut in half?

So… first time – 40, second time 20, third time 10, and it bottoms out at 5. And stays 5 until reset.

Here is a thought. Ignore it and go back to enjoying the game. If someone rage whispers me I love it. It means I did my job well enough that they are now upset because they died or lost a camp, tower, or keep. Nobody said you had to pay attention to it lol.

Malerian, like you, I often find that receiving such messages means I really got under the enemy’s skin and I did a pretty good job of it!

But I can definitely see Swagger’s point as well, and Swagger, I appreciate the post.

So, Anet, how about this – you add an OPTION in the Option menu to disable all enemy communication. This way we can choose if/when we get enemy whispers/emails and when we don’t. And we don’t have to go “invisible” and avoid getting friendly whispers.

It’s almost too simple a solution, right? A check box.

I just wish for a salvage device you could double click that would convert all green and below to materials in your bank and copper in your wallet for the minor runes/sigils. All the clicking for managing that is just getting really old. Better yet, no clicking. Loot just gets ‘processed’ automatically and you only need to deal with rare/exotic and above.

Elric, now you, my friend, have the RIGHT IDEA! I’d pay gems for a Salvage-AUTOmatic device that had options/settings as you’ve described!

My suggestion is to change the current design into a handle that appears like a thick linked chain, or chains, with a hound of Balthazar for the head of the torch. Have the hound drool molten metal and have the footsteps molten metal as well. The arm of the user can change to a reflective molten metal effect.

Swagger, this weapon that you described – now that sounds like a REAL Legendary Balthazar themed Torch weapon! I can dig it!

Dude, I would craft your suggested weapon and I don’t even have a toon that uses a torch. (I’d learn to use it, though!)

I mean its kinda true that they’re doing joke/serious for each legendary. So far we’re had:
bifrost / nevermore
I guess it doesn’t work for the axes, at a stretch you could say astralia was jokish.
quip / hope
dreamer / the tiger bow
moot / eureka
shooshadoo / flameseeker prophecies
hms divinity / predator
flames of war / rodgort

All except axe.

We had a developer comment here in the forums that they were surprised people regarded the “HMS Divinity” rifle as a joke, because internally at anet they considered it a serious legendary.

I don’t think the Bifrost staff is a joke — it’s got rainbow effects, but nothing like the unicorn arrows tied to it otherwise. It’s … also kinda, like, a rainbow themed legendary, because the (serious) real world Bifrost is also known as “the rainbow bridge”.

It’s funny you mention the HMS Divinity! I finally decided to make it this morning even though I’ve not personally seen anyone with one in game with my own eyes.

And WOAHHH, Nelly! I am impressed by how “POWAAA-FUL” it feels (with its animations and sounds) in the hands of my Warrior. Dude, it feels like a bomb is detonating in my hands every time I shoot it! This thing is not for children! HAHA!

I’d put the HMS in the serious category for sure, just like the Predator, which I also have.

Since the legendary is made of metal, my guess is its gift will be similar to Shooshadoo and Eureka. Checkout the Gifts for the last 3 legendary weapons:

Then they have their own unique 100 quantity of “x” item (Shards of Friendship or Shard of Endeavor). For the Flames of War, I’m guessing it’ll be 100 Shards of War or something. This unique item is typically made from:

1 Mystic Curio
“x” number of Mithril Ingots
“x” number of Elderwood planks
1 Tribute to"whatever" (for the Flames of War, it’s the Tribute to Lithurgy.)

NOTE: You can buy Tributes to Lithurgy from the Ship NPC in Bloodstone Fen. I’m there now and he has them for sale – 10 Unbound Magic each.

Your conclusion is wrong. Torches are huntsman weapons so the gift requires a Gift of Wood, not a Gift of Metal.

The only good ones so far have been the initial 3 that were released soon after HoT release.

I swear, if the next legendary is a broomstick or something, I will die.

You’re not far off with the whole Broomstick legendary prediction! My highly reliable sources tell me that the next HoT Legendary Weapon is gonna be a Spatula Sword that has Grease Spot foot falls! This weapon’s design will be inspired by the final BIG Battle of Ep6 that happens to take place in some back alley soup kitchen in LA.

SUGGESTION - UPGRADE Option on Siege

I’m not sure if this has been suggested, but I thought I’d mention it…

How about an UPGRADE option on Siege?

So when regular siege is placed, and someone walks up with Superior or Guild siege of the same type, he/she can choose to “Upgrade” it. Basically, replace the regular siege with the same type of siege but of higher quality.

Me and another server mate were talking how this would really help folks who have little resources still place regular siege and contribute to the protection our server’s stuff, then, when needed, folks with more resources (superior and guild lvl siege) can replace it. It would also help with having an area siege capped by regular siege and having to wait for it to “hopefully” die so you can put say, a SUPERIOR AC in the place of a reg AC in a now T3 tower/keep.

Oh and perhaps you could even make it a profession of sorts – i.e. tie it to WvW Ability Points?

Ascended Vendor WvW

This is another prime example of you treating the WvW Game Mode like the proverbial “Red-headed Step Child.”

NOTE: you did the same thing with Auto-loot. It was like you were initially oblivious that auto-loot would be highly useful in WvW. It wasn’t until WvW’ers mass complained about this feature missing from their game mode that you made auto-loot available to WvW via its Rank and Abilities system. (Thank you, btw!)

As a primary WvW player, I feel that having an ascended gear vendor in WvW would also be useful to the community “As Long As” the pricing is fair and inline with the other game modes’ ascended gear vendors. (This appears to be what you’ve done recently with Fractals, sPvP and Raids.)

Please consider showing the WvW Community the same consideration you’ve shown the other game modes regarding having an ascended gear vendor within their respective game modes.

[BUG] Warrior Burst Casting By Itself

I can consistently re-create this bug, it happens when you enter berserk mode on warrior and then proceed to cast the primal burst skill. If I hold down the skill for a split second too long it will bug out the burst skill, causing it to cast itself repeatedly even after a weapon swap, and certain skills are used.

I just want to chime in and say:

This bug of the Warrior Burst skill (F1) going off by itself periodically happens on Vanilla-core Warrior too. (I never run Berserker, but I experience my burst skills firing by themselves periodically.)

I think with Vanilla the key is also what the OP said regarding holding the burst skill down too long. Or, in my case, perhaps it’s being triggered by me quickly and repeatedly hitting my F1 button when trying to get Earthshaker (Hammer F1) to fire. Something then goes wrong and the next burst skill is then queued up and activates by itself when it sees fit so it seems.

I have had some issue with burst skills going off after I use one and then switch weapons could just be me. That and king of fires is bugged.

I’ve been experiencing a strange phenomenon where a burst skill will periodically go off (fire) on its own, as if I pressed the F1 button, but I didn’t. It’s been happening since the Aug 9th patch and occurs about 2 or 3 times per day (maybe). It’s weird, and I haven’t been able to put my finger on it as far as a pattern. Thanks for your info.

I have literally used stow pet once when running a dungeon before they changed how pet aggro works….

I hear you… for PvE, now-a-days especially, Stow/Activate Pet is perhaps not as frequently used.

However…

In WvW, where you’re fighting other players, having your pet out can be a disadvantage pre-combat. And stowing them via a mouse click is inefficient when compared to a key bind button press – LIKE EVERY OTHER Class Mechanism is able to be key bound in GW2. (I can go into more specific instances where clicking on this small button on the screen is particularly problematic, but if you do any WvW, or perhaps even sPvP, you probably catch my drift.)

As a comparison to your situation mentioned – dungeon running, if I’m WvW’ing for an hour, I’ll easily mouse click Stow/Activate Pet a dozen times (or vastly more) depending on whether or not I’m roaming, scouting, or running pick in a zerg.

In short, the game’s 4 years old and there is no reason I can see why Rangers (or any other class) should not be able to Key bind Major Class Mechanisms.

**NOTE: Anet added a key bind for the Passive/Aggressive Pet mechanism last year. And, for the love of Dwayna… we can key bind Stow/Active “Weapons”... (weapons!), but Rangers CANNOT key bind Stowing or Activating their Pets!? -.-

I’m having a similar problem with Shield 4. It removes immobilize but it doesn’t actually leap forward, which…doesn’t really help.

As well, I seeing that Shield Bash is broken as you’ve described in your post.
I have also reported it in-game just now.

Note: A year ago, Bull’s Charge had the same exact issue. And I made a video of it and reported it. Ultimately, Bull’s Charge did get fixed. So I’m hoping the same happens with Shield Bash in relatively short order. (If necessary, I’ll create another video – this one with Shield Bash malfunctioning and submit it. But I’ll first wait and see if this bug gains any traction with what’s been submitted so far.)

I just tested it after the patch they just pushed, and it’s working again now via a MOUSE CLICK. (And I use the term “working” very loosely. -.-)

But Anet really, REALLY needs to add a HOT KEY Option to this MAJOR CLASS mechanism - Stow/Activate Pet!

No class should have to click anything as the ONLY means of triggering a major class mechanism.

Yes, it has been reported in the bugs forum. And I also reported it in game; I’d suggest we all do the same. (The more they hear about it being a major problem, the better.)

Please mention that it’s ridiculous that Rangers have had to CLICK on the Button since the game’s inception. We need a HOT KEY option for Pet Stow/Activate! (What other major class mechanism has to be clicked to use it except for Ranger Stow/Activate pet? Plus, they added the Hot Key option toggle for Passive/Aggressive, so why not Stow/Activate? And you can hot key stowing/activating a weapon, which is pretty useless imo, but Rangers CANNOT stow/activate a pet with a hot key? wth???)

…HAVE TO CLICK ON the Stow/Activate BUTTON for pets, BECAUSE for 4 YEARS ANET has NOT SEENT IT FIT to ADD a HOTKEY OPTION for STOW/ACTIVATE PET…

… but now CLICKING does NOT even WORK!

Why is Signet of Humility enabled in WvW?

It can break the game for high-rank players that get targeted by enemy groups. If you’re turned into a moa 3-4 times in every fight then what is the point of playing in WvW?

This needs serious consideration for removal in WvW.

I mean, thank Dwayna Anet gave it a bit of a nerf so the transformation is now 6 seconds instead of 10 (which was Redonkulous!) But, I agree – it still needs revisited regarding WvW.

IMO… it’s a Cheap-shot/Low-blow kind of mechanic that should be found in a Box-O’-Fun (which is a box of “goofs and gags”) not on someone’s skill bar.

… it’s more about the balance of players on the map and having more even “good” fights. I’ve brought this up before, but I think it’s time to take stronger steps to balance populations by experimenting with factions then running a vote AFTER testing for a period of time… I’m thinking at this point it’s easier to accomplish so just put more maps in play. Divide out the servers into 3 sides. Adjust individual servers weekly as needed to balance faster. Reevaluate things after a trial period.

With half the servers being absorbed via the linking anyway, I’m guessing “Server Pride” for these poor souls has started to take a backseat in the scheme of things. (“Backseat” as in the last row of seats on a bus with 30 rows of seats …especially in Tier 4 NA!)

Even though I’m from a host server, on an importance scale – I put having good/even fights at the top of my list. (And w/o over-stacked blob lag!)

So I’m down for trying something like you’re proposing, Swagger.

Please at least consider bringing it to a vote for a possible TRIAL implementation, like Swagger said.

Kitten, guys, we’ve had two votes to add more siege related items into WvW on a trial basis… cuz you know that’s what WvW needs – more siege! /sarcasm off.

You are definitely experiencing some kind of unique phenomenon. I just tried doing the same as in your video, in EBG, with no delay on using Rapid Fire after hitting with PBS. (My skills are operating normally.)

Some things to try that may help you figure out why it’s happening (random order… just typed things as they came to mind):

1) Try swapping bows; maybe it’s the sigil or something in your bow in the video (or the bow itself is bugged).

2) Take off all of your gear including jewelry (go naked) and just use a reg blue or green bow, no sigil.

3) Swap your pet to something else.

4) Do a repair on the client.

5) Try a different map – home and enemy BL’s. Same problem in PVE maps?

If all else fails submit a report to Support.

Edit: just thought of something else… change all of your utilities and elite too. Maybe it’s one of them that’s causing the bug.

Glad to see you’re still in Anet Development; we haven’t seen a post from you in a very long time.

Thanks for the pet names saving ability.

Now can we also get something implemented that has also been un-addressed for years that needs attention: The Ability to KEY BIND Stowing/Activate our pets.

Some time ago you added the Ranger Pet Combat toggle that gives us the ability to key bind when our pets are set to passive/aggressive, which was extremely needed. Thank you! I use it all the time! But I don’t understand why you didn’t at the same time just add a – Ranger Pet Stow toggle as well.

It’s been about 4 years now, and it’s STILL a major pain in the rear to have to use the MOUSE and try to stow my pet in certain instances, i.e. – trying and keep my pet from taking unnecessary damage or getting me into combat, particularly while in WvW.

Are there any other classes that have a major class mechanism (or any mechanism at all) that has to have a Mouse Click as the only means of using it because there is no “key bind” option???

Please address this 4 year old problem. (Sadly, it’s been a bit of a handicap that I and other rangers have had to learn to live with.)

You know, just because my Granddad has some old leftover cans of Puke-Green LEAD paint in his garage from 1945, it doesn’t mean I should snatch them up and paint my kitchen with them in some kind of misguided effort to revive its look. I understand Cannon Blueprints may be a “Low effort change” because you got some old/mostly completed code laying around, but, man… MORE siege? Really?!?

Maybe instead of working on more siege stuff they should switch to QoL changes if possible.

I agree – Anet WvW development hours spent on “siege” related tasks, especially in regards to increasing its use, is time NOT well spent imo.

At this point, QoL changes for WvW would be awesome! Even simple things like adding more commander tag colors and increasing the tag’s visibility in zerg fights, or adding the ability to give squad credit to scouts that are on different maps to promote holistic scouting, or fixing bugs like the occasional “rooting” problem when you don’t have immobilized on you, or the problem where skills don’t go off during large scale 3-way combat, which has been getting worse at times lately… etc.

Putting additions into WvW like the Repair Hammer in for a trial period is a good approach and I applaud that! But I think development time could be better spent on other things in WvW that would help the game-mode more as a whole. So I voted “NO” on this poll for the above reasons.

How I see it is this…

If you are a “Real” WvW’er… then not being able to Craft in WvW is of little importance. Like most of us, you’ll just craft somewhere else… no problem.

What would upset a Real WvW’er is NOT being able to WvW for any reason - i.e. – Crafters taking up possible queue spots, Loiterers taking up possible queue spots, whatever… whoever is not there to WvW for their server’s benefit.

However, if your primary objective is to be able to “Craft” when and wherever you want and to have the benefits of doing it in WvW (no loss of position in PvE land, crafting bonuses, etc.), then you’re more likely to be upset by not being able to CRAFT in WvW.

So I call “BS” on all the Pretend WvW’ers saying, “Removing the crafting stations is horribleeeee. OMG!!! Now I cannot be there to get a callout and help my server when I’m really there to do other things. This is a travesty!”

Pfft! Please!

You know, there’s probably exponentially more players who like to do BOTH (or all three aspects of the game, i.e. PvX) that strictly “real” WvWers, as you put it. WvW is seriously hurting and has been hurting for years because of dwindling population. Hence the server pairings.

So I would think the last thing that a “real” WvWer would want to do is chase away more people by looking down on them as not “real” WvWers.

BTW, I’ll bet the server merges have much more to do with queues than a few crafters. But go ahead, ignore the obvious variable so you can trash anyone who doesn’t play the game they paid for to your specifications.

Hey, man, I’m not trying to chase off people in WvW that are actually there to WvW. And I don’t have anything against people doing PvX (I do PvX). BUT if you were coming into WvW to do your PvX and it was crafting, specifically when there were queues, now you’ll need to take it somewhere else. As Anet has stated…

“Upon observation we found there have been players taking up space in the [WvW]maps who are only crafting and not participating with their teams.”

This was their reasoning for removing the crafting stations from WvW. And I agree with it. And what I was saying as someone that is a Crafter and a WvW’er… it’s not a problem because: when I’m in WvW, it’s to do WvW. Crafting in WvW was just a convenience thing. (It’s no big loss; I got a toon parked at the Grove now that does my daily crafting.)

Our guild had an Anet employee who would pop his tag which made enemy groups break formation and charge straight at him. He’d get plowed over, but we’d wipe them every time (even when they had double our numbers). That tag makes people go nuts.

Yeah, I could see folks doing that for sure! Thankfully, there’s NO friendly fire in GW2, cuz I could see his own server-mates accidentally cracking him upside the head a few times simply cuz the urge would be too dang great to hold back.

As the squad is marching on their way to defend SMC…

Anet Squad Commander: OUCHHHH! Hey, what the kitten?!? Did I just get hit by an enemy Mez or a Thief or something… I lost half of my health!!!
