As the post say that complexity make the balance hard to do.A-net could ship another expansion as standalone PVP game and trash current profession spec entirely. And use Hero format as another MOBA outthere. So they can do away with complexity.

And focus on making Hero (in the old word build) that interesting to play at higher pace instead of quarterly balance patch

To make incentive for people to play the standalone expansion they could put a tie in AP to the main game similar to Hall of Monuments from GW1 or even use main game currency to purchase hero with reward to main game as fashion equipment or even old BL skins.

Honestly it’s not your fault but it’s a design fault.

It’s too easy for people who play badly to reach higher divisions.

I guess people will feel less forced to get to diamond or legendary if the Achievement do not tied to division crossed. Right now all the time gated stuff will keep people coming back even if they know they aren’t enjoying it. An unhappy player don’t perform well which lead to toxicity in game.

People say T1 Ruby is the most toxic because they got match up with a Sapphire Rank who still farming their class win AP. When you match people with different goal it won’t end up happy ending. Cause Ruby will always feel bad losing and not so much the sapphire dude.

The cross division and play X class win game really make people think differently.

Because matching a laidback sapphire who farming class win achievement and ruby who trying to get out of ruby is good idea.

I say this because I was last pip away to sapphire matching a nice PVE commander (which I dont reveal his name and Im not close to him) by chance. When team strategy go south. He become a keyboard warrior for entire match. So I pm and ask why the rage because its only sapphire and got reply that he’s in Ruby now.

The way Achievement setup rightnow causing some toxicty in the game.

DH VS Reaper on Point

Last game when I played DH (Standard medi trapper) against reaper on foe fire. I know he’s a minion reaper. Team fight was going on mid point. I pew pew support from the waterfall point ledge then saw a reaper trying to cap home point but have to stay off point because of all that minion swamping on me.

F1 was unreliable because Reaper USE that LOS to block the spear and I dont want him to be too close

So I killed him eventually but the point was flipped for a minute which lead to unfavorable situation to team.

Whats wrong with hammer right now
-Jump pads screwup your movement You cant use skill when airborne not even stunbreak . Make jump pads activate when running from certain direction and when facing it. and make it land on curtain spot.

-Sky Hammer is too strong make it DMG overtime and knock down after getting stacks of debuff from the hammer

- Falling through the floor should considered instant dead. Teleport them to danger zone which later port you back to spawn.

1 event the larva defend is ok for solo player since most of the chack will aggro the guard first

2 next phase is a nightmare because the larva are stupid and making player defending more than one choke point against mobs with a brain dead VIP that keep getting in the fire zone .Also whats with the zero EXP , drop mob that spawn unlimited its really overkill here

3 Herding the beetle is Ok as long as you dont aggro those frog gank .But still making one player doing fed-ex over 10 Objective is a turn off

4 Ahem one mushroom is headache but ganks of Mobs that spam AOE and knock back. Are you Cereal! And the scaling is off too I soloed that and it need 15 part to complete it.And the placement of drop off NPC is too close too frog ganks and too far from the mushroom They leashed before reaching the drop off NPC

I tried again with 3 people and still need like 15 of mushroom piece as well Please change it that it need specific amount like doing Shatterer Pre-event.That will encourage people to do events

I didn’t have chance to do the rest yet because of random map close every 15 minute stop the chain event group going.

If you are running in HoT zone you might want to go daredevil + deadly art + acrobatic.
Because there weakness on poisoned enemy and weakness on critical trait. Let you so pull some mobs without taking any hard hit even if you run sinister gear.
Blind arnt that useful most of the time because of mobs built in defeint bar which nullify blind. And loads of AoE in events where every mobs can Spam it.

Its seem the more skin and skill effect add after this expansion make this game a memory hog. I usually crash on zerging event. Running on lowest setting seems to be helped prolong the crash. But when HoT live I crash every 5 minute .

After chance my OS from window7 32bit to 64 bit version there almost no crash eversince while running medium setting.

Console at Professor Portmatt’s LAb near the chest does’nt update collection.
Quandry Scratch does’nt spawn any Experiment rifle if you already completed renown heart.
Scarlet’s Prototype Mechanism cannot be found in her hideout in Lonar pass

I play from SEA region with 300 ping. Its doable with ranged class but not anything in melee unless your opponent have roughly same ping. Build with lots of skill that need target will be hard to use too. Because your targeting dont update with your client and you will lose a lot of target with manual targeting.

The current Daily win make people switch to winning side. Too much binary.Should change it to getting X point from certain class. So when you win you got enough point to finish the daily and if you lose you still progress.

Revise X Class win daily.

Getting daily done is at he mercy of matchmaking with the Guild PVP misson on the roll you have higher chance playing against pre-made. You might end up having very high lose streak.

And don’t tell people to use Daily farming Room. Becasue you still cant AFK there.And someone just still want to play PVP normally . Not playing walk in and out of circle.

So in a middle change it to X Class rank point.So people still have to participate to get the daily done while still able to complete it despite having a losing streak.

Game need a causal 10 v10 map. And reviesed the Daily to be point with X class instead of win.So even people with low skill or bad lag can still complete the daily while not giving excuse for AFKing.

I’ve finally got my crashing every 5 minute problem solved .After looking at the log I got out of memory error. Have to install window 64 bit version to fix the problem.

Maybe its time to update the game system requirement to 4GB of ram instead of 2GB

I’m quiet salty right now. Crashing every 5 minute since Expansion hit. Updated my driver and redownload .DAT file for 4 hours.Still crashing.

I still can’t play the game without crashing every 5 minute.Now i’m crashing at the start of Thorn from the Sky Story instance where you go to first green WP mark and get to see a dragon swoop down.

I got a lots of crash after update to the point that its unplayable.going to update GPU driver to see if its the cause.

Edit1: updating GPU not working. Running repair archive command.
Edit2: Repair not working Im downloading the .DAT file from the start.
Edit3: Nope I’m still crashing after redownloading the DAT file please send help!

I agree with predefined build balance much easier to do while splitting PvE.
On the otherhand the league worry me.Because it be so much unfun that you are match in server with great fluctuate Ping between team. So condi spiking and CC lockdown team is very effective. Because it’s one way to make sure that opponent don’t have time to react. And that’s is nofun builds.
If it no fun people will not play it.Even with threre best stuff in game at the end that’s too hard to attain. Surely E sport = Fun.

About player poll if you mean unranked. It’s fine at the moment with less that 5 minute queue for most of the time. For ranked I think with loot at stake as part of legendary crafting. There should be more people queuing leagues.

As for players number per server. Heroes of the Storm match making already Fix that.The game merge Asia and America region together. When queuing for bot match for practicing the game ignore region restriction.So some Singaporean player might end up in Brazil.

But when in Quickmatch (unranked) Match making will have preferred group of server to put people on the same region together if not it will place player to nearby region. So some Taiwan player end up in Singaporean server.

And in Ranked play MM will try to put people in the same region together first. After a period of time MM will relax the rule to match nearby region together.

So if translate to GW2 league system lower division could use a relax rule while upper one when you start to lose point should use a strict rule.If there good PvP coverage and community there less chance that people will have to use server that too far away.

If all else fail. MM will match player back to their original PVE server.

TL:DR If A-net want GW2 to thrive in E-sport.Make PVP server where no one play in laggy environment. PVP server will be a standalone server run without PVE/WvW content to cut the cost. In return you get to see how balance actaully go.And player get to enjoy good unhandicapped PVP.

Hello A-net Devs. I’m a long time fan of guildwars series from Southeast Asia.Playing since GW1 Faction and loving it for 10 years.I’ve been watching Heart of thorns development till recent announcement of PVP League.With the free to play model there should be enough people to fill PVP queue in reasonable time.

But without a fair ground for people to compete there a slim chance that PVP scene will be that popular but not sustained. Because there are no reliable server for players to practice the actual timing of skills and many skills don’t work as intended on a high ping server.Which will turn off potential pros.

Latency while its ok in PVE because of encounter , mobs have specific pattern which players can memorize them But not in PVP where timing is key.Highping player suffer the following disadvantage.

  • Cannot react dodge incoming skill but instead guess and remember threat range from specific class
  • When its come to CC skill trading player with less ping will win and get an advantage.
  • Stealth mechanic can be counter but need split second of Reaction to dodge/counter burst attack from stealth which make it hard to balance based on users with variety of ping.
  • Condition damage build that require player to read what condition they have on them which make it a race to cleanse it before damage tick away.
  • Movement skill that track players never land or move to unintended location because of mismatched location between client and server.
  • Melee attack need a co-ordinate from both attacking and one at the pointy end. Make it awkward that an Asura will be able to out-kite laggy norn player while laggy norn player always on the receiving end Because when laggy norn swing Asura already move away from the spot 1 second ago.So in order for laggy norn to hit he must step on the Asura model while moving to compensate the lag.And when Laggy Norn see Asura coming from feet away , Asura already poking at the knee.
  • Using ranged attack on stealthing player cause to shoot blank.
  • Using Leaping skill to get out of combat will make you dive back to the fight because there a second delay that server still remember that you have selected target for skill

Having a normalize ping environment will give better feedback because more people can counter lots of build.While putting people with different ping on the same server is like putting people with different skill rating on the match.

So high-ping players are stuck with low skill ceiling passive build which are boring to play.While a high risk build never picked.

Rent a servers was a nice move but the customization was limited.So we see only 1 on 1 or Daily farming room.There should be more game mode or the event activity like dragon ball arena can be hosted during the event.And even develop a PVP scenario like Jade quarry , Fort Aspenwood from GW1 with 10 v 10 and longer game time format with different reward structure than SPVP where people get reward during the game not just at the end of the match.

While players waiting for implement of more Local server.I want to share my time on some of the competitive games I had played.

Team Fortress 2

While not a MMORPG game. This game have long standing player base.Valve really successful monetizing them.Drop in and dropout gamepaly mean that everyone get the piece of action and no serious consequence of losing.While still reward player who play periodically with customizing weapon and cosmetic.I believe that there are still people playing this game is because of there are servers all over the world which some of them are private server with their own rules, map cycle and game play mod to keep the game fresh.

Super Monday Night Combat

An Old game from 2012 by Uber Entertainment that I think very close to Guildwars 2 Stronghold mode.But not very successful after a few month of going out of Beta.Because they have limited budget and have to launch the game too soon without strong PR.There were no reliable training stage and A gap between newbie and beta veteran due to customization that make hero perform better at some point which the matchmaking keep having bad matches and can be seen very clear because of those customization.

I have opportunity to play a few match in SEA server where ping is low.I played assassins type hero who can dive backline and cannot be detect by defending NPC.And Another one who can teleport trough wall,ceiling Which I played
very effectivly because all that melee attack I see on screen actually hit! People cant out-kite easily and have a blast wrecking their support. But once people have their TF2 hat there are not enough people sticking around to start a match.Have to go back to America server and never touch those hero again.

The last straw that make the game unplayable for me.After some point Uber offer a new game mode that play the same but with different game rule. Where player having a boosted stats and having a reduced death timer in order to get a shorter game.But its so bad for me that I got killed a lot because no time to react.But people actually like it so queue time in normal mode is too high for me.Then I quieted the game.

Eventually Uber move on and stop updating to pursue other project.The game still running nowadays with cheat and hack in random matches.

Heroes of the storm

A game that is classified as MOBA but Blizzard call it Heroes Brawl by Trimming unnecessary game play length with different maps and Objective. Despite being opened to public in less than a year their first Grand Tournament.Road to Blizzcon have a very high viewing count. Southeast Asia grand-final have 10K view indicate
there enough players to sustain the matching anytime in the region.

Last game that I see that it might take a lot of PVP player from GW2 if it goes live

Overwatch

Upcoming Blizzard FPS game with 5v5 format. With many playable character to choose and variety of Ability. The game play is very fast but still offer strategy thanks to switchable character during the match. The game still only have 2 Type of Objective. Point capture and Payload. Capture point mode roughly the same as GW2 SPVP.But level design will accommodate the FPS game Such as corners and very different high. And Blizzard might already have servers setup for All region at launch.

I hope A-net do well in E-sport to get enough revenue to fund and get sponsers for the PVP only servers.

I would love to see PVP tempelte For each type of PVP map.I hate it when people come in courtyard with their capping , melee bunker build. Courtyard wont be much of a hassle with that.

Thief meta is like being annoying Shadow arts with Shadow refuge that reset your HP,Condi in stealth. Also vampire rune that only make it not fun to play aganist since it only delay the inevitable. Because thief dont have much mechanic or nerfed one that cause them to cannot stay in fight too long.

So current thief rotation is like. Go in with steal that rip boon and try to damage as much as you can. Then go back to Stealth wait for imitative regen.

IMO to fix this current meta Stealth mechanic might need an overhaul so that stleah do not completely make user 100% invisible while buffing Thief HP , unnerf their defensive/initiative regen mechanic.

Please add Death Blossom to the List.Getting immobilize midair lock your character and become unresponsive to skill activation.

But this is actually happen anytime you get immobilize when not on the ground

My Idea on Acrobatic line

Name: Fleet Shadow: Change to Fleeting Lotus
When you Stealth you get movement speed.For 3 second gain 3 stack of might (6 sec) for each second you moved.This trait will have 14 second cool down.

This will encourage thief to reposition then use Stealth attack but not perma stealth to get might stacks then burst people down.

Name: Pain Response
Extend the list to Torment , confusion.

Name: Hard to Catch
When trait proced gain 50% of endurance bar. And your next dodge instantly refilled 50% of endurance.Also keep the break stun.
This trait kinda too situational right now this buff will make the trait a little more easier to use.

Name: Upper Hand
Option1 : Add Aoe weakness when sucessfully dodge with weapon skill.15 Sec cooldown.
Option2 : Also make evasion on weapon skill gain 1/4 sec more evasion time.

Name:Assassin Reward
Gain stack of Assassin Reward when you use skill that spend initiative and hit people with it. When you get hit or the trait timer is expired you are healed. This trait will have 1 sec cooldown.

Current use of this trait is not really promote thief for staying in fight because when you run out of Int you are dead. And this trait lock you down in a fight instead of letting you go when fight not in your favor.

There is one serious bug with Death blossom. It make you float in the air. If you get immobilize in the air you are stuck and unable to press any skill like this.

This immobilize bug happened when they introduced some teleport fix months ago.Still no word from A-net

Time to bring projectile blocking skills. My reaper pretty much kill them on sight while the tempest got nailed by those kitten. Berseker gear get shot like 1200-1300 × 5 shots.And they crit pretty often every 3 shot like 3000-5000 DMG. While typical Ele got like 15K HP which mean they are down in one burst.

This feature was requested for a longtime.I think they don’t have the technology yet.
Right now you just need party to rejoin map.Or if boss got a sliver of HP left and you crashed just count 1 to 60 before log in again your char should still be in the event and get reward when you log back in.

Here is what happen you get immobilize when using dead blossom.Generally it happen when you got immobilize in the Air.

Its been months since the bug goes on.

Ever since the patch that fix teleport skill There’s a bug with immobilize condition that if it applied in in Air player will be stuck just above the floor that no skill can be activated like the one show in the clip.

I think its the new code with latency for anyone who didn’t play in US with ping over 100 that in game client and server doesn’t sync with each other.

Since auto loot coming can we have NPC that pickup unclaimed loot that left in the world ? Skritts in Lionarch could be good candidate.Maybe some fee for the pick up at NPC.Such as normal 10 Copper Rare 10 silver. Also give them container opening service so that we can aviod carpal tunnel.

D/D is not very good because of Immobilize in the air bug, If you got immo while in mid animation of death blossom you are dead because it make your character unresponsive .
Basically if Ranger use entangle you are stuck for entire duration while before bug death blossom spam will save you.

The bug happened for months by the introduction of Teleport fix. Still no word from A-net though.

I really hate the stutter step of death blossom aftercast. Also when they will fix mid air immobilize.I have been killed many time because of random root while Death blossoming and stuck unable to press any skill.
It’s really bad that A-net nerf skilled based on A few pro player while in reality not everyone can pull that kind of stunt.
