Ive mained ele since bwe2 and i do share this idea:
Having an ele in your team puts you at a disadvantage
Having 2 means you lost
How long have you been thinking that ? Because eles used to be godlike, you know.
Healing turret is simply hard to use.
Activate it too early and you won’ t get any combo field.
Activate it too late and the turret will start his passive regen animation before providing the actual combo field.
There would be rage even if the game was balanced, probably less that’ s for sure but people have been mean to eachother on the internet since forever.
One thing that really gets on my nerves though is when people play absolutely wrong builds.
I can understand them playing bad with good builds but playing bad with bad builds is simply pointless.
If you don’ t even take your time and look for a viable build before entering the queue for a tournament (which is something that takes commitement) you’ ll have to bare with my disappointement (aka me telling you “omg noob go back to hotjoins”).
well you don’ t really need to make it a boon, it could be added to skills such as the ones you mentioned even without anet adding a new boon.
Are you really THAT dumb ?
Big teamfight going on, guardian goes down, the guardian team has 3 seconds to ress him.
Big teamfight going on, mesmer goes down, the mesmer team has 8 seconds to ress him.
I watch mortals from above and cast my judgement upon them, mine is the hammer, mine is the room in the sky, mine is the power that shall befall those who i deem unworty.
OR, i guess i could say that i love to rock skyhammer on my engineer.
@ensoriki that p/d was supposed to be d/p lol, most theives were playing that before the patch that introduced larcenous strike.
@otherpplz i’ ll start doing field research to bring to you the correct percentage of stealth uptime accurate to the decimal.
Eh .. what works in hotjoin usually doesn’t work on anyone who’s even slightly good….
king of the hill isn’ t hotjoin, it’ s the most popular 1v1 room EU ruled by lxl super lxl himself which is part of the EU team that made it to the finals of the invitational tournament.
?
join a king of the hill room and watch as a stealth based phantasm mesmer has 80% stealth uptime and the bleedings from his illusionary duelists make up for at least 50% of his damage output.
Call them “Just slightly over the top” if you don’ t like the word broken, it doesn’ t change things.
Conditions everywhere.
Warriors gained sustain and are good at 1v1.
Thieves migrated from d/p shadow arts to s/d acrobatics.
Elementalists lost their place at the top of the food chain.
Condition mesmers became viable and are totally broken for 1v1.
Conditionmancers gained sustain, damage and control (8s fearchain anyone ?).
Engineers lost their breakstun on elixir r (ninjanerf to the knee).
Rangers’ spirits are back to what they were pre release (strong).
Guardians are more or less in the same state they have always been (not as unkillable as in the early days ofc but still very tanky).

Hi, i am Lachanche both here and in game.
I play warrior, ranger, necro, mesmer and guardian at good levels, i know the basics of the other classes because knowledge is power :P
Region: Europe GMT+1
Avaiable Time: i am on a 1 year vacation before starting university so all the time the team needs.
Experience: i play since beta and i took part in a lot of tournaments, in the early days i also played with a competitive team before we broke up.
I don’ t really know how to check my rank (lol), if you can check it for me or tell me how to check it myself it would be much appreciated.
Let me hear from you again ^^

Also, no thief using that weapon combination ? Ok sometimes thieves go d/p to brutalize necromancers but sword/dagger still stands as the strongest 1v1 thief build right now. Where have you been all this time when people complained about larcenous strike brokeness like no tomorrow ? Anet even nerfed that freaking thing (same patch that reduced dhum fire from 4 seconds to 2 seconds) and it is still the strongest land weapon skill in the game. If you genuinely think that no thief uses that weapon set you are either trolling or unexperienced. (although i often see shadow refuge used instead of rolling for ini)
And you are either daft or ignorant quite frankly. Nobody uses double Sword/Dagger anymore, neither does anybody use RFI among other things (which makes me wonder where you have been all this time).
So let’s summarize:
- He’s using a 0/30/0/30/10 build (So no Mug and no Serpent’s Touch) on top of the lower damage output of the build compared to the 10/30/0/30/0 build. Mug, Serpents Touch and Pain Response would have made a huge difference in this fight.
- He’s using double S/D, which nobody runs with anymore and never was a good idea to begin with (though one could argue it was viable before the Infiltrator’s Strike "nerf)
- He’s not using Pain Response, which practically 90% of the S/D thieves use since the necromancer changes and which would have come quite handy here as well
- He’s using RFI, Infiltrator’s and Agility. Most thieves will either run with Shadowstep, Refuge (or both) and the Assassin’s Signet (and Infiltrator’s Signet, if they don’t run with Shadowstep for the stun break), as that’s the most effective set of utilities
- He’s using Energy sigils, when 95% of the S/D builds out there are either using Fire or Air for the extra punch
So basically out of 7 traits that the meta 10/30/0/30/0 build you mentioned uses, he’s running 5 and not even the same trait or stat distribution (and I am being generous, because most S/D thieves have also dropped Signet Use by now).
Out of 2 preferred weapon sets, he’s only using one that we see in a S/D build nowadays and out of the 3 preferred utilities, he’s also only using 1. Furthermore he’s using different sigils.
It’s a completely different build basically.
Your eyes are more keen than mine
I thought the “not seen playing that weapon set” came from a non-thief player who was surprised about the sword/dagger combination, not from a thief player who already analized the build better than i did.
Not impressed.
Maybe you would be if you knew that flanking+infiltrator costed 4 ini instead of 5 before nerf ?
I know from my experience of sneaking into wvwvw guilds once in a while that wvwvw builds are specifically studied to deal with large number of players and, as such, are often different from spvp builds. I think it would be nice to have an organized 20vs20 mode to bring some build diversity into the game.
@someone
weird build ? i wonder what game have you been playing so far, every single thief i meet in tournaments (or 1v1 king of the hill for what matters) plays 10 30 0 30 0 s/dLook closer.
Not only is no thief really using that weapon combination or those utilities, he’s also not using the 10/30/0/30/0 build you mention.
He has at least 15 points in acrobatics because he recovers endurance after each dodge, he seems to recover initiative after some critical hits which suggests at least 15 into critical strikes, at 0:32 he recovered ini using a a signet which is VIII in critical strikes. BUT at 0:42 he didnt heal using steal and recovered initiative instead, which means his last 10 points are probably into trickery instead of deadly arts.
At 3:37 you can also see a 2.2k larcenous strike hit which suggests +20% dmg under 50% health. It’ s not the exact same build but mantains the same core.
Also, no thief using that weapon combination ? Ok sometimes thieves go d/p to brutalize necromancers but sword/dagger still stands as the strongest 1v1 thief build right now. More testing may be needed
I want them to give warriors the ability to quadra wield greatswords so that i can hundred blades while i whirling attack while i bladetrail while i sword rush !

Lol these guys were honest and admitted it. Here we go again tho
You mad at me aren’t you?
Yes i am mad at you because i just found myself into skyhammer !
Skyhammer is not suitable for conquest and i think it should be removed from solo queue just like it was removed from team queue.
Each time i get it i go afk.
It’ s not like everyone can go “oh hey let’ s reverse the protocol used by gw2 so i can manipulate what’ s going on between me and them and make my warrior dualwield greatswords”.
Network manipulation is serious buisness,it took years before another famous mmo begun being bothered by such problems and gw2 is a relatively young game, I think we won’ t see anything like that for a long time.
about time, i have seen teams switching characters during the match countless times.
hint: spectral skills last longer and grant life force on use
1. Necro
2. Engi/Mesmer
3. Ranger
4. Guardian
5. Warr
6. Ele
7.Thief400+ tpvp wins – Classes: ranger/thief/mesmer/engi
1096 tournament wins here distributed on every class except for engineer and elementalists.
i disagree with you.
this is why http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1754/w3dx.jpg
also worth noting: i have done 25 games on my engi 20 of which during beta.
Solo queue only works if you queue with the right mindset.
What i do:
Solo queue
Join a 1v1 room in the meanwhile
Enter the match when the queue pops
If we lose all the points within the first minute i quit
Play a level of warframe
Get back to gw2 and repeat.
Let’ s turn this thread into fanta gw2.
What do you think would be better between a 30 30 30 30 30 war with the ability to switch between all of his weapon sets and a 30 30 30 30 30 ele with just 1 weaponset ?
Somehow skyrocketed over the ceiling to a whopping 99%.
I don’ t know if the random team members i keep running into simply have phisical problems, which is ok since i can understand equal rights, or just take it as their duty to make the team they play for lose.
“Ok don’ t go far because you will just die and make us lose all 3 points”
…goes far, dies, and makes us lose all 3 points…
“Ok don’ t try to steal because you will just die and we’ ll have to fight with one less man”
…tries to steal, fail, and forces us to fight an outnumbered fight…
“Ok focus the necro before he melts everyone’ s face”
…starts bashing on the guardian while eaten alive by burning fear torment…
There was a time i used to think these random feeders were just unexperienced players but a lack of experience just doesn’ t cut it, you must gain some sort of insane pleasure by acting against the interest of your own team multiple times in a row after being repeatedly told to avoid doing so.
Which brings us to the next question, why do you think the percentage of masochistic players increased so much over the last month ? A major moba game closed and all the rage inducing players who played it migrated into gw2 ? Financial problems instilled the need to self inflict into average gw2 players ? People don’ t want to lose to necromancers and make the team lose before the necros can take the credit ?
discuss…
imo:
Guardians , staff eles: supporters and holders at the mid point.
Power thieves: single target spike and blast finishers, great roamers.
d/d, s/d eles: depending on their build they can go anywhere from AOE power pressure to team supporters (or both), great roamers.
Condition thieves: AOE condition pressure during team fights, great roamers.
Necromancers: AOE condition pressure during team fights and fears. Technically you can also spec for holding but imo that would be a waste right now.
Power mesmers: close point holders with portal and AOE power pressure during team fights.
Condition mesmers: reroll power, condition is not a thing for tournaments imo.
Engineers: AOE pressure or single target spike, close point holders or far point contesters, big amount of cc.
Rangers: condition pressure or single target spike, close point holders or roamers. Long lasting water combo field and over time condition removal for team fights.
Warriors: fail version of thieves.

Now imagine necros would have actually kept some of the goodies they had prior to release…oh the screams and cries of agony would make hell freeze all over, haha.
Are you implying that the old DS wasn’ t indeed broken ?
Or that signet of the undead breaking stun giving a necro the chanche to cancel the cast than use it again an be immune to stun was a good thing ?
The meta will just shift back to run double ele/guardian with pure anti condition functions and we’ ll get back those lovely full runes of svanir teams.
Lol i think it’ s ridiculous that you have to focus necros first than everyone else or they melt your whole team in a matter of seconds.
Tier S
+ Necro
Tier A
= Mesmer
= Guardian
= Elementalist
Tier B
= Engineer
= Thief
= Ranger
not seen a single time during the italian tournament
= Warrior
When you have to focus a necro rather than a backstabber you know that necros are rank S.
#1: get a team
#2: you aren’ t supposed to solo queue if you want to escalate the leaderboard
mmh i think ranger pet if beastmaster, otherwise necro flesh golem.
that thing got hit by a big buff lately.
Today necro , engi ,mesmer, ranger is able to overcome without major problems every Bunker Guardian 1v1.
Talk for yourself dude, i’ ve been playing bunker guardian since ever and every 1v1 i do lasts at least for 3 sanctuary cooldowns.
Nerf spectral wall to kitten shreds, nerfhammer it down the depths of unplayability, something worse than what happened to c&d after beta, even worse than the deathshroud nerf, banish it for all eternity with the banscythe of dhuum himself.
lol yesterday i was in the mist when suddenly i noticed that the camera was making my norn ranger look like she was hiding something…
I immediatly opened paint to do this

I just had a bad bad experience against a duo mesmer + ranger, his skill counted but mine was left in another world. there was nothing i could do to prevent getting stomped. He pulled me with the wall, immobilize, not even the time to change to the staff to cast number 4 that he feared me with the wolf, knockback, illusion explode and dead. Worst experience ever. This all in about 5 seconds. Is there a counter to these situation for my beloved necro?
Either preemptively dodge that with a fear mark already placed under your feet or fall back to plague + runes of lyssa.
Btw necros have a lot of good builds (for real) that are simply overlooked.
0 30 20 20 0 for instance is the best side holder build i found so far (was, since now thieves can larcenous strike spam my protection to oblivion).
And most of you will probably laugh at my 30 10 0 0 30 but the combination of spectral walk and flash wurm make it perfectly viable.
(this last build still needs appropriate tpvp testing though)
It’ s not about what a necro can’ t do, it’ s about what you want your necro to miss in order to play the same overused build over and over.
Just cant get over the feeling that the devs dislike this class so much that they nerfed it into the ground. I have not seen this class one time be OP since launch
I call supreme bs, i also happen to be playing since launch and i perfectly remember deathsrhoud lasting twice as much, granting permanent stability, removing all conditions upon activation and soaking up a full un-nerfed mug+c&d+backstab combo.
(edited by Lachanche.6859)
WUT are you talking about.
corruption is old fashoned and way too much counterable by certain classes, aoe point bombing with ranged wells is the way to go.
LOL i remember something along the lines of “duels don’ t comply with our policies, go duel elsewhere” as the motivation behind the lack of a duel button and now it turns out people dueling elsewhere has become a problem too.
Oh, the irony…
This game totally needs someone to self righteously claim himself as the best ranger around pretty much like what happened on “a game with dc characters in it”.

I like her gentle look
Here’ s mine (how do you guys hide the interface when taking screenshots ?)
Just give us 1v1 2v2 3v3 and I’ ll call it a day.
@mufa yeah because fps and mmorpg are exactly the same thing
To keep stealth up 100% of the time a thief needs to time his c&d exactly 3.6 seconds far from eachother.
Stealth wears off after 4 seconds, c&d has a cast time of 0.5 seconds.
This way stealth wears off and 0.1 seconds later it is reactivated.
How to counter it ? Well first don’ t leave clones around or he is just going to use them as free stealth fodders. Second with knowledge which you obviously lack, you didn’ t even know that what he was doing is legit.
Anyway, once you aknowledge the time limit just dodge 3 seconds after the last c&d or simply spam a meele autoattack. That’ s how you deal with stealthy theives.
By the time you get to the Mesmer, you’d have used the majority of your skills for them to easily kill you, or they’d run away with their multiple escape skills. How do you guys deal with Mesmers?
Look for the one that moves like it’s controlled by a human*. Do Fear Me when the clones are near you, then go after the human and use whatever you’d normally use.
‘* it always amuses me when a mesmer thinks they can just run away and I’ll stay fighting one of their clones.
Pay attention though, you don’ t want to fear the mesmer only to find out you were chilled.
If PvE was complex then you have to figure out which hits are you supposed to take and which hits you’re supposed to avoid no matter what.
Kinda like Vindictus.
The flame shaman (charr) or the giant fire elemental (asura) strictly remind me of the first time i accepted the white tyrant challenge…
“why does this bear look like he is going to jum…k im dead”
“what’ s that red thing this guy is spraying on the grou… k im dead”
And fractals luckily kept this tradition up
If your only purpose is to kill mesmers use a soldier amulet and play some heavy aoe weapon set such as greatsword and axe/shield (just found out axe hits in an aoe frontal cone).
The key is to use whirling attack defensively to dodge shatters and kill clones.
As a guardian you have to cycle through mace aoe counterattack, istant smite conditions, focus block and either greatsword or hammer.
Mmh i am not completely sure yet, there are workarounds for condition removal.
For example the warrior is a burst bleeder, meaning that it does a lot of short bleedings in a short time.
Bleedings from flurry only ticks 4 times so a condition removal has to take place in that time.
It isn’ t shown in the video but fearme also lasts 4 seconds and its function is to prevent targets of flurry to remove their bleeding.
Another cool thing is that a warrior has access to quite some secondary conditions to mask his bleedings, you have vulnerability cripple and immobilize on sword and blindness on bow which also helps against condition highjacking.
Speaking of bow, the burning field has an huge range and a decent duration which makes it pretty useful in teamfights, clusterbombs and water fields work so nice togheter so why not to try a fire field version.
I also like the confusion from interrupt trait but one can’ t reliably use it to mask bleedings since fearme has a very long cooldown and it isn’ t worth it to stop a flurry to knockdown with mace and gain 3 stacks of confusion.
I don’ t know, maybe i lack the experience to judge but to me a warrior doesn’ t look so much worse than a caltrops thief, for example.
