“I 1v3 at far and you can’t get mid”.
. .. Says the thief who got roflstomped after his team wiped 3v4 at mid.Too any times these days…
lol 100% this
step 1: far push
step 2: team wipes 3v4
step 3: 2 enemies move to far
step 4: far pusher dies 1v3
step 5: “wtf i 1v3 far and u lose fight”
yeah basically in solo q everyone does his own thing
mesmers are awesome !
they make the plays and are high risk high reward (talking about 4 4 0 0 6 shatter don’t get strange ideas), master mesmers mechanics and you will really play gw2 pvp to the fullest.
Simply pushing far and not pushing far equate to the same thing—it may or may not work.
You can blame the one who pushes far, but it’s also everyone else’s fault for not realizing that in a 3 v 4, you have to play more cautiously until another teammate comes to help. Ideally, you hold off the 3 v 4 until home is captured and the guy moves home or the guy at far wins the fight. If you know you cannot hold out, go far instead.
I don’t care if someone pushes far, but I care when someone is sitting around doing nothing when there are 5 enemies on the map.
Imo i would blame it on the guy who pushes far rather than the guy who doesn’t leave close, the pvp voice pretty much tells you “you have captured a point don’t let them get it” and i can see why someone would do it, the problem is the guy who tries to play it smart in solo queue.
I see you have not experienced what i am talking about, let me break it down for you.
If you push far you take a gamble. Will our close holder go mid so that we can have 1v1 + 4v4 or will he stay close so that we have 1v1 + 3v4 ?
If you win your gamble then it’s a 50% 50% situation, if you lose your gamble the game is lost.
No way your team will regroup, everyone will keep rushing one by one and by going far you will have single handedly destroyed every chance your team had to win.
So it’s either a 50% 50% split where you could win far by leaving close undefended or a 100% certain defeat situation.
Why would you take such a risk ? It’s not something you can afford in solo queue.
Even if you are a thief you are much better attacking a priority target like a necro or a mesmer on mid, this way your team is more likely to win the teamfight and you avoid to bet the outcome of the entire match in the first minute of the game.
HOWEVER, i was talking about an even more specific situation, a situation where someone from your team stubbornly keeps going far, he doesn’t care whether your team already has 2 points or if his presence is needed elsewhere, he just wants to win that duel with the far holder and he loses everytime.
This is something you should never do regardless of whatever.
What skill exists that prevents you from being turned into a moa?
Blind, Block, Daze, Fear, Launch, Pull, Push, Knockdown, Stun, Float, Line of Sight and Sink… oh yeah and as you mentioned. Dodge.
None of those are counters.
You are bad. Moa is fine.
You are worse. Moa is not fine.
Players who stubbornly keep rushing far and dieing 1v1 leaving everyone else to fight an outnumbered fight: stop.
Just
stop.
Well, meditation guardian kinda counters warriors, warriors rely on hitting telegraphed attacks and the standard 2 1 6 1 4 meditation build can avoid those forever.
The only time a warrior has a safe way to land damage on you is when he pops berserker stance but then you have your blocks.
If it’s a duel you can bring signet of might to shut down the guardian defense mechanisms (signet of might + berserker stance), if it’s a tournament and you have 3 stances you must kite him, warriors generally don’t need to do so because they are the apex build but when you encounter a meditation guardian you really need to make him waste his cooldowns and to do so the best way is to run around and dodge when you feel he is about to burst you.
no builds limitation ? enjoy endless settler vs settler duels
no but srsly if you want to play thief in solo q before you click submit a warrior npc should spawn and if you get kittened by the npc the queue will reject you with the message “you are not prepared”.
engi /thread
15 charrrr
mmh when i saw spirit weapons i was a bit diffident but after trying your build i had a blast, it’s so much fun !
You can bounce people around with hammer of wisdom and your hammer, block them with line of warding and ring of warding, chill… oh the chill, i love it XD Want to kite my hammer ? Nope, chilled. Want to get out of the teamfight ? Nope, chilled.
I think i will try a variation with soldier amulet, berserker gives you some nice precision but i feel too squishy with so little thoughness, maybe i’m too used to world vs world where you can have both :P
I have one question though, wouldn’t it be better to take defender’s flame instead of meditation mastery ? That way you can burn enemies when they remove your aegis and more burning is always nice.
You would get a slightly longer cd on renewed focus though, not sure if that could kitten your survivability :S
10k hp ? are you sure you don’t get insta gibbed by other condi classes ?
i respect you for taking pride in playing turret engi but i disapprove of your choice anyway.
germany is not a supported country so the lag will stay
Gank someone 2v1 then type “rekt” and /dance over his corpse.
He will most likely come back to 1v1 you and get 2v1’d again effectively lowering the chances of his team to win the game.
This is one thing but ganging up on 1 mesmer from your own team because he dies often is simply rude, you were just bullying him.
GS is mostly used to do aoe dmg on downed players (100b) and to move quickly between points, what it doesn’t have is a reliable way to do dmg which is why i don’t think it’s viable yet.
If you are fighting on point with gs what you do is basically 4 + 3 and swap to longbow or autoattack, occasionally you will land a pin down 100 blades combo.
I think sword/shield+gs or axe/shield+gs is more an obsidian sanctum duel thingy where you can take full advantage of dogged march + rune of the hoelbrak with the lemon poultry soup, the condition reduction you have on chill/cripple/immobilize is quite crazy :O
I like your color theme and the “technological” feel of the armor but I don’t think it is too fitting for a norn, I will give you an 8 because i know how hard it is to get the color right on orrian armor pieces lol.
this here is my norn guardian, i went for a pretty standard kitten mix but i like how it looks on him, not too sure about the colors though :mmh:
this here is my charranger Grunko showing off his aviator glasses and glorious armor chest
Hammer longbow is not the ultimate weapon combo solution, the lack of damage mitigation outside of cooldowns makes you weak to burst classes like s/d ele and meditation guardian, you are also countered by axe/sword warriors and have an hard time killing an engi who kites you.
The bulk of your damage relies on your enemy being stunned so stability is also a problem.
Hammer longbow is seen often but not because of his dueling potential, it is because of the CCs and might stacks it brings to teamfights as well as his ability to hold in 1v1 or 1vX situations long enough for reinforcements.
There are mace/sword and axe/sword variants to the defense/discipline theme, there is also an axe/warhorn build recently made popular by rom as well as a greatsword/longbow build occasionally seen around (although imo gs is not quite there yet).
Baseline is, for team queue you NEED the area denial, the cleansing abilities, the might stacking and the immobilize of the longbow, your secondary weapon set depends if you want to seek out duels (mace/sword) have more presence in team fights (hammer) or a mid way of the two (axe/sword).
If you don’t care about team queue and just want to familiarize with warriors mechanics you could as well play mace/x + gs and go with a 100blades build or roll a minsize asura and play a killshot build but those are only good for starters, if your aim is being competitive you need to learn how to play with competitive builds.
btw i think i forgot to mention sword/shield + greatsword wvwvw builds, every now and then you see them used around.
(edited by Lachanche.6859)
bulky build = huge shoulder pads.
it applyes to every race, not just human, and to female toons too.
I really like how the armor matches the ash legion theme and how it all meshes in toghether, a bit too much grey though so it’s a 9.5/10 imo.
this here is my char ranger taking full advantage of the glorious medium chest armor (yay for no trench coat)
the second picture is the same ranger during a guitar solo wielding a long bow
Basically i am never going to improve if i don’t duel a good thief like 100 times or so and i don’t want to wait hours to get just 1 chance in king of the hill so if you play thief in EU and you are good you can whisp me your info and we can have duelz.
btw i will be playing mesmer for our duels
Yeah the new player experience is just bad but they had to put it on because they have it on gw2 asia so here it is. Enjoy your ruined lvl up phase and your gated content.
well for example casters resort to the useless flying cameras you can’t see kitten from, if they showed us the actual pov of players instead if would be so much better.
I recently found out that I fail at 2v2 and you ve been quite succesful in that game mode, would you mind writing a short 2v2 guide for newbie 2v2ers ? I would greatly appreciate that
i just lost my daily solo queue match and i hate everything, just wanted to share my feelings with the community
Yeah lol that dude is either trolling or unexperienced, atm there is 1 s/d build with traits 2 0 0 6 6 and 2 d/p builds 6 0 2 0 6 or 2 6 0 0 6 used in tournaments.
elementalists have diamond skin though, that kinda hard counters condition necros
…they need berserker stance.
Think about it, they have signet of endure pain and signet of balanced stance, they need signet of berserker stance to be ready to join the tournament of legends.
Point in case, discuss plz.
my new hypothesis is that you were blinded the moment you used your overcharged shot but the blind wore off before the projectile actually connected.
Kit swapping does not cancel out the knockback, i can confirm this after an intense test session.
idk, on one hand celestial amulet makes pretty much everything viable, on the other it makes already viable builds a bit too much viable.
I mean staff eles finally have an amulet they can have fun with, d/d eles feel like they are back to their prime days, engis can finally move away from rabid, rangers don’t have to chose between sacrificing thoughness and sacrificing vitality, warriors are warriors.
Celestial amulet, powerful runes and powerful sigils enable every class to play basically every trait combination.
This is good, build diversity is always good.
However some classes gain a bit too much from it, they become a staple of every competitive team and this is bad.
I can’t see how to fix one problem without creating another.
P.S. celestial guard is a bad idea, stop bringing that up (lol).
Pick any 2 styles and they can work together in the right game.
MMO and RTS…
hmmmm
World of Starcraft!!!!
Pros:
- Epic pew pew weapons.
- TANKS.
- Many options for professions, even class advancement (Marine -> Ghost -> Raynor, so epic).
- You start with enough resources to last you for half the playing time, no need to grind anymore!! (well unless you’re rushed).
Cons:
- You have to start your character again every time you win.
- You have to start your character again every time you lose.
- Arenas are based on the number of players, not on the arena types.
- Backdoor thieves are still present (Dark templars), expect 50k posts of whining about their perma-cloaking.
- To create gear you need to wait 20+ minutes per piece, don’t get me started with upgrading it to level 3.

It’s dead 23 hours a day? Why do I still get queues all the time?
you are playing with walking deads o_O
Well the thing is there is a constant recycle of new players who try out pvp but very few of them actually keep going and join the ranks of the experienced pvpers.
If your leaderboard variance is well enstablished (aka you had consistent results for a long time) chances are you will keep meeting other players in a similar situation and there aren’t many of such players.
As for possible solutions to this issue, i see none o_o.
Would you care to expand on this concept ?
I know what you mean but you should try to make it more accessible for the everyday forum goers if you want to sollecite a broader response.
Maybe you used your knockback then swapped weapons ? weapon swap can interrupt almost every cast (including eviscerate and ranger sword auto attack).
I know engis can’t swap weapons but maybe equipping kits has a similar effect.
control effects override eachother, maybe someone dazed you and the daze made it look like you didn’t knock yourself back.
well that’s completely stupid.. why not put it in all game modes
because people pay to look shiny, standard models take that away from them
you don’t even need bubbles just los the ranger behind your thumper turret
bear with me for a minute
another newfound longbow ranger ?
guys just solo q into team queue it’s even better rewarded anyway so you gain more and avoid the maps you don’t like while the scrubs, i mean the other pvpers, will be able to enjoy skyhammer in solo q.
get a team and play tpvp, yoloQ is absolutely ridiculous.
better yet, solo queue into team queue, you avoid annoying maps and get more rewards.
but dodging is hard
with assassin you get killed by arcing arrow + eviscerate
I think that the medium glorious armor is absolutely cool and it is a variation from the trenchcoat theme and i have to get it at all costs. at. all. costs.
