Hello,
So looking at the upcoming changes to Trickery, I really like most of it, but I noticed Flanking Strikes change is less than impressive.
Currently we have “Flanking Strikes increases damage when attacking a foe from behind or the side by 5%.”
With the change it becomes “Gain haste when attacking a foe from behind or the side.”
So basically they mixed Flanking Strikes and Critical Haste to get a weaker new trait.
Unfortunately, instead of just giving off Quickness it gives Haste, which kills your endurance.
Now I think it makes this trait really weak because it puts you in a bad position, similar to what randomness of Hard to Catch would do. I explain.
When using Haste as a skill you can time it with Signet of Agility to mitigate the effect of losing your endurance, but on a trait it’s harder to predict when it’s going to come in effect and so it could really put you in more danger than it would help you.
Therefore I suggest either simply grant Quickness and not Haste, or change the trait entirely to grant Initiative, which would remain in the spirit of Trickery.
Flanking Strikes: Grant 6s of Quickness when attacking a foe from behind or the side.
OR
Flanking Strikes: Regain Initiative when attacking foe from behind or the side.
Thanks.

What needs to happen is it needs to trade places with Resilience of Shadows. RoS is way too OP as a minor trait and blind on stealth is useless as GM.
Agree 300%
Then if we take that route, let’s say we move Resilience in Shadows as GM trait and merge Cloaked in Shadow with Shadow Protector or with Last Refuge, then put back Hidden Assassin as a GM minor trait instead of RoS.
I guess that could work too, although I personally liked to have RoS as a minor GM trait.
If they merged hidden thief into it, I would be even less likely to take it. It should be made a minor trait or merged with shadow protector. In fact swapping it with last refuge would solve a lot of problems.
I understand that they put it there based on blinding ashes for ele, but D/P is handing out blinds like candy already, and D/D will have have to hit a crucial CnD for it to do anything. If you’re using the utility stealths (BP, SR, HiS) you’re not going to proc it often anyway.
It should be made more accessible for /D.
Yea I also just noticed that Hidden Thief is already kinda there under Descent of Shadows:
“Release a blinding powder when you steal or take falling damage. You take less damage from falling.”
So if we added Hidden Thief to Cloaked in Shadow we would be having 2 traits that are very similar and not super useful.
Merging Cloaked in Shadow with Last Refuge or Shadow Protector wouldn’t be a bad idea like you said.
I think I like where Resilience of Shadows is though, because as it currently is, no one ever picks RoS over Shadow’s Rejuvenation and Thief is kinda squishy so it’s nice to give them that.
But then, without Cloaked in Shadow we are down 1 GM trait.
Maybe add Hidden Assassin as a GM trait instead of Cloaked in Shadow. I think this is a strong trait that could add a nice option to the GM traits.

Hello,
This is a suggestion for upcoming specializations changes regarding the Grandmaster (GM) trait Cloaked in Shadow.
Even though blind when stealthing is O.K., it’s not in my opinion GM worthy and definitely not amazing since thief already has a lot of blinding options on their weapons and I’m pretty sure not many people would choose that GM trait as it is now.
I suggest at minimum merging Hidden Thief and Cloaked in Shadow into a GM trait. These 2 traits work in good synergy and merging them would make this trait more appealing.
It would also Synergize well with the Master Trait Shadow Protector.
Thanks.

I would also suggest you to check LFG of post there to find people to do content with you.
There are often people posting for exploration so maybe try that.
Good luck!
I cannot log in either and same for my partner. Been like that for 1hr.
That’s the reason you join a party instead of creating your own: so that you can follow, sit back and not think to much.
If everyone created their own party there would be nothing but single person parties and no group would ever get formed.
Some people like to make the group and control the party, others like to join and follow. That’s pretty simple. There will always be both. Don’t worry about that.
The point is to give the power back to the person making the party.
The point is that there are more than one reason people join parties.
Ok but that doesn’t matter that’s really beside the point, which is need more group options.
Ok thanks sorry I couldn’t find a post about it.
Maybe they will merge topics.. I hope they fix this.. I am totally unable to connect

Hello,
Anyone else not able to connect?
My partner and I share the same network and we both are unable to connect.
The game is stuck on “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” and we can’t close the window after that, but must kill the application through the task manager.
It was fine an hour ago or so and we haven’t made any changes to the network or the computers and Internet works fine for browsing.
Thanks for the feedback.
I had an experience similar to OP but not as bad.
My partner and I opened a CoF instance to do P1 and we posted on LFG for 3 pugs.
Not long after they joined, our connexion crashes but only for a moment so we are back in the game quickly (under a minute).
When we log back in; we are still in the party and just in time to see the three others kick us.
It wasn’t a big deal since we only started, but it’s still insulting that you get a party going and get booted of your own party and then you have to rebuild another party.
It’s not true that we don’t need party leaders. There is always someone leading and most groups expect to have someone leading them. That’s the reason you join a party instead of creating your own: so that you can follow, sit back and not think to much.
If anything, either you agree or not with having party leaders, we have to agree that Anet needs to look at options regarding parties. The situation is not good at the moment and no one can disagree to this because all the negative posts speak for themselves.
My 2 coppers.

You can have similar builds for PvP and WvW, but you definetly wants something different for PvE.
Meta Battle is a good starting point to try figure out what you like.
For PvE, the most optimal DPS build would be a D/D or S/P build. S/P might be a little easier because of the evades, but your DPS won’t be as good overall.
For WvW there are many options. If you’re not very experienced, but want to play in a zerg you can use VenomShare.
If you want to be a ganker/roamer you want to use D/P (difficult to master), S/D (easier to get started) or P/D (condi).
For PvP I recommend S/D (easier overall and more survivability) or D/P (again, harder to master) . Some people also use S/P, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Note that D/P is a really difficult build to master in WvW and PvP and requires a lot of practice.
Playing thief revolves around Stealth mechanic, especially in WvW and PvP the most, but also useful in PvE to skip content and speed up things.
A visible thief is a dead thief.

I want the bunny ears and the sport sunglasses.
I am disappointed that there isn’t Easter events anymore like in GW1 and I miss it.
This would have been the perfect opportunity to reintroduce them.
I recognize there is an issue here and so far my favorite solution is to have a Party Leader (PL), which would be working similarly to what we had before, but with some differences to avoid as much as possible abuses.
PL Features:
- The player opening the dungeon automatically becomes PL;
- The PL may choose to name someone else as PL;
- If the PL leaves the party, the next person in order that joined becomes PL;
- The PL has a marking to identify him/her as party leader near their name (e.g. brawl champion crown or commander pin) and on the mini map;
- The PL cannot be kicked. If a party member tries to kick them, the attempt will still be shown in party chat as it is currently the case;
- PL must accept kick request before they can be voted on (count as a vote);
- The kick request is cancelled if the PL rejects the request;
- Kick requests still require 50% players (includes PL initial vote) to agree;
- If the kick request is pending for more than 1 minute it is cancelled;
- If a player is idle for more than 5 minutes in a dungeon, a kick request will be automatically prompted for vote.
We could also have more detailed party requirements in the LFG tool so that incompatible people won’t be in the same party and therefore avoid many kicks:
- Level/fractal requirement;
- Agony resistance (for fractal);
- Gear rarity (any, exotic, ascended);
- Gear stats or player stats;
- Run type (casual, roleplay, experienced, speed clear);
- Achievement Points;
- Class slots to be filled (e.g. M, T, W, G, E);
- Etc…
All I can think of for now. To be discussed.

I like this suggestion.
It would really make the permanent mining pick useful and in the same time make them all equal.
It’s also a very good idea to allow player to access now unavailable event related items through mining.
These items could include tokens or festive materials : https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Token
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Festive_material
Instead of Sigil it could be called Seal to distinguish it from weapon sigils.
Here are some ideas of seals that could be made:
- Seal Name (Common Drop, Rare Drop)
- Watchwork Seal (Watchwork Sprockets, Blade Shard) (already exists)
- Sweet Seal (Piece of Candy Corn, Trick-or-Treat Bag)
- Dragon Seal (Piece of Zhaitaffy, Coffer)
- 8-bit Seal (Bauble, Bauble Bubbles)
- Zephyrite Seal (Fortune Scrap, Kite Basket Supplies)
- Consortium Seal (Karka Shell, Supply Crate)
- Wintersday Seal (Flawless Snowflake, Small Wintersday Gift)
- Sand Seal (Pile of Silky Sand, Lump of Raw Ambrite)
- Azurite Seal (Azurite Crystal (rare), Azurite Orb (very rare))
- Lunar Seal (Red Festival Lantern, Homemade Lucky Envelope)
- Queen’s Seal (Festival Token, Gauntlet Chance)
Of course it doesn’t have to be exactly like this, but it’s out there for discussion.

I don’t agree with this suggestion.
It’s everyone’s choice to decide who they want to play with, and that’s why you have kick option. Also if 2 other persons agree with you, it legitimizes it. If they don’t, then you can always leave of course.
I already think it sort of annoying when you create a party that you do not really have control over it anymore as it was before, but I understand some people were abusing it to scam players so I agreed with that move to some extend and even to have 50% of the party agree on kicks, but I’ll never agree with punishing player for deciding who they want to make a party with.
Usually, people don’t get kick for no reason.
I agree with op and I saw other threads about that so he’s not alone.
I think the new dailies are good on reward and AP, but way too specific, which become an unnatural chore, unless you do WvW, because they left those not specific (they could have said kill dolyak in green borderland for example).
Personally I miss that I can’t get my dailies by playing dungeons like I use to. Now it’s only 1 dungeon once in a while that counts. Bring back daily rez, dodge, condi remove.
Remove specific area daily to something more general (daily gatherer, daily champ slayer, daily dungeonner, fractal runner, daily pvp winner,etc).

I logged in just to say I’ve been thinking of suggesting the exact same thing. Having a “custom outfit” item would be amazing. You could swap gear and still retain the same look without having to go through the process of reskinning and redying. Yes please to custom outfits. <3
I suggested something like that recently and I’m sure we could incorporate town clothes skins to it.
Here is my post for reference purposes:

You kids have it easy.
In GW1 we had to lick the walls of each map to discover map, as areas were not discovered all at once as asection, but as a ‘drawn area’, like a ‘fog of war’ in a RTS game.
So true.. often had to hack the map as well to get the last 1% completion. Yes Anet made us go to the dark side… some of us never came back. /cry

I agree with op. So many times I was disappointed by this.
They also often do that with outfits. Outfits are already the lazy route so at least make it gender specific.
And if its about equality, then try give the female version to the guys see how they like it. Yea don’t think they would like it either.
I really wanted this outfit for my thief so thank you Anet.
Now back to making more armor sets. Thanks!
+1
I wish they would add auto loot already.
They added aoe loot and have wvw loot at your feet. With that already in place, I don’t see the problem in getting what you already worked for.
Some people suggested mini pet could pick up your loot, maybe not a bad idea to add this.
I’ve been waiting for that outfit since before the game release, back when they were drip feeding us screenshots of the dye system and the armors.
I thought then: “wow this is so much better than the 15k Kurzick mesmer armor”.
And what do I see when I started playing? MY armor on that kitten Anise for her exclusive use. kitten.
So please Anet, don’t make me wait anymore…
I agree with op, the texture is poorly done.. the face is not so bad (the idea behind it anyway), and obviously being a reskin of the raccoon the animation is awesome, but I really think the fur texture should be reviewed (i mean who approved that to go public..).
If we compare to the raccoon, we can see its fur really detailed and smooth looking (see attachment) as opposed to the red panda where it appears compressed and pixelated.
Well if they reword the texture a bit I will buy it, but for now I think I won’t. Not worth it in my opinion… my money is worth at least a minimum of quality
There had been an increase in lag in WvW since the last big update. Mostly fine for havoc groups or smaller zergs, but when you hit a full map with blobs there is obvious skill lag, which is different than your normal latency where time appears to stop then catch up quickly.
I know in the past there use to be skill lag all the tim and Anet optimized the game a bit and then it was fine.
But then came the stability update and it all changed from there.
My guess is the way the game now calculates stability stacks could be more demanding in term of processing when a large amount of people are affected in a small space.
Not sure they can do anything about it but I’m sure they are aware of the situation and will try resolve it if possible, given how important WvW is to them.
P.S. no, you’re not alone.
Rumor has it that the option will be available to you in the expansion to deactivate your pet and will get damage bonus in compensation.
Now this is just a rumor I’ve heard from a guy that heard it from another guy in WvW.
The only reason I might believe it is that WvW rumors are often true
Maybe you can dig and try find an official statement somewhere.

I’ve been wanting this feature before locked dyes preview, but I’m willing to accept it now I suppose..!
Thanks for the replies.
I forgot to talk about the armor types, but I wasn’t suggesting other classes could use different armor weights.
Instead, the outfits could be restricted by armor type.
The whole idea is basically so that people can play dress up everyday without having to commit into transmuting your armor and your look.
The extra cost in outfit slots and transmutation stones is only to compensate the loss for anet in transmutation sales, but they could decide to go with other options, doesn’t have to be too costly.
Anyway I appreciate your opinions thank you.
Summary
Being able to create custom outfits to put over armor.
Details
Create an outfit
To create an outfit would be the same or similar as how we currently transmute our armor from the Wardrobe, but instead of clicking apply, there would be another option to “Save As New Outfit”.
Dyes
Dyeing the outfit would be done through the Dye tab, as it is done now.
To be able to dye the specific parts of the outfit we could either have the custom outfit replace the armor slots here, or, have a separate column for outfit on the right.
Gem shop outfit dyeing could remain the same.
Cost
Custom outfit slots could be sold in the gem shop, therefore compensating for the transmutation.
Creating an outfit could cost extra transmutation stones (e.g. 10 instead of 6).
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Allow us to change looks without switching armor or transmute;
- Create a larger variety of outfits that we save and reuse whenever;
- Allow us to share outfits between characters;
- Use part of an already existing system and improves on it;
- Opportunity for the gem shop.
Cons:
- More work for the dev team;
- Less transmutation stones sold;
- Player base complain because of unnecessary change.
Feasibility and priority
Although it is probably not too difficult to implement, it still require significant work to adapt the outfit system. It also does not have a very high priority, given that it is only a cosmetic change of convenience.
The fact that it represent an opportunity for the gem shop and is part of something that the player base has been asking (better outfit options) could however make it somewhat a more desirable change.
Thanks for your consideration.

Bring back the old loading screens!
I really dislike the black border which is way too big.
Also it will ruin my loading screens collection, which I use as screen savers.
Not too bothered by the loading bar, I just want the picture too be the same size as before.
Thanks.

Also it’s fine for humans most of the time but the shoulders are usually not scaled properly on other races (mostly charr and sylvari).
Now you might not want to do the effort to do that scaling the right way, but you can still do the right thing by allowing us to hide the shoulders.
As many already mentioned, not to worry about the order you choose, they only unlock armor skins for your account.
For acquiring level 80 gear, there are many ways to do so. I suggest you consult the following link:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats
It’s my gear bible and even after playing 5k hours I still use it for reference purposes.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy the game!
Colors derive from the spectrum of light which will vary depending on its power and wavelength. The human eye perception will also affect the color seen, and in this case, your screen type and settings will also be a factor.
Therefore, the outfit is white, blue and as many color as you can see.
….
And yes, I can’t believe this made it here. There is no where to hide anymore.
Also bring back celestial compass and dye-able weapons..!
But yea that contest was nice. Awesome weapons came out of it. It could also give Anet fresh new ideas.
So getting these!! I hope we get more color choices in the future.. but for now I have a few chars that could use them: Thief, Necro and probably a future revenant.
I like the necro best with them, thief is cool too, but it feels like they will get in the way of doing thiefy things, ya know.
Anyway the Revenant probably gonna change too, but I like the idea of it.
Of course I wish we could dye back pieces but not happenings anytime soon I suppose (and weapons..).
I… actually created my own sylvari just today. And I’m already a bit frustrated by the lack of really fitting armor, can’t wait to hit 35 to get the first tier of salad dresses
You needn’t wait. You can buy them any time to unlock them to wardrobe, then use transmutation charges to apply them to your armor.
Though then you’ll be using a lot of charges as you gear up over time if you want to keep the look in combat (you can always keep an RP set in your bags to change into when you want to look nice).
Or use outfits over your armor until you have your level 80 gear.
You can preview them in your Hero Panel before you buy them to see if they suit you (e.g. clipping or over stretched issues).
(edited by Lady Minuit.3186)
Well… nothing more needs to be said
You’re all awesome but this one is the best! It really does look like Groot. Too cool.
What’s the name you have for him?
Nice Sylvari everyone!
Well here are mines. I have a Ranger, a Necro and a Guard (in this order).
Probably won’t make any other, but I really like the ones I have
I would love to see this comes up in the gem store as an outfit. Not the Anise version exactly but the the code version would be fine: [&AgECWQAA].

Before GW2 was released, we were teased with screenshots featuring this armor and never got to wear it and it breaks my heart.

Please anet make this happen (at a fair cost!)
There are other pretty outfits that could be implemented in the game. Here are some examples.:

I play full glass/damage and honestly I don’t go out of my way to chase anything that’s too tanky/survivable, because it’s complete waste of time.
I call those “troll” builds. Any build that doesn’t kill you, but is really hard to kill. So best way to fight those? Ignore and walk pass. The kill isn’t worth the points anyway.
Instead, go for the glassy types!
so why does the most mobile class in the game need 1200 range again?
you already get 1500 steal range to close distance and plenty of tricks to move around and evade…. if anything it should be lowered to 750-800 to compensate for thatif you steal into a giant zerg its instadeath
Also pretty useless for bombarding a wall or pulling. Plus if you don’t trait for it it’s only 900. But again death or inappropriate for most situations not involving chasing someone.
If 1200 range is unnecessary, then why do most other professions have it? Shouldn’t they be nerfed down to 900 range as well?
Exactly. If 1200 isn’t necessary why would warrior or guard have 1200? And I’m not saying to take it away from them, but give thief a similar option. I want to kill the tentacles in fractals and hit the freaking oil in charr fractal, i want to be able to attack a tower without compromising my behind with bad camera angles. Omg I want heat seeking back!
sorry my friend, tentacles can be killed without 1200 range, in fact 900 range is enough to not be hit and hit it, oh and i melee only those things on my thief, just saying.
what are you talking about oil, i never had a problem hitting oil with my sb, plus its aoe that bounces on multiple targets make it even easier to take out 3 of them on main gate. really?complain about having bad camera angles when attacking a tower? its like other classes saying why can’t they walk through enemy zerg like its nothing.
also your argument make no sense, engis doesnt have signets, “if it isn’t necessary why everyone else have” and warrior doesn’t have skills that summon AIs/NPCs, “if it isn’t necessary why everyone else have”.
If you’re doing the tentacles properly at high level your group will want you to stand in a certain spot so you don’t aggro the other monsters, hence the 1200 necessary.
For the oil you can hit it with 900 but again that means everyone Guardian included gets to stands safely behind me while I pour the oil on myself, hence 1200 much better and safer.
Not sure what you mean by bad camera angles is like a zerg? But indeed if you have only 900 you’ll have to hug the wall almost to hit the top so you won’t see well you’re surroundings, hence the 1200 which makes it much better.
Now the signets on engies really? This isn’t the talk here. Not having signet isn’t game breaking as they have other utilities doing the same things, though I would agree they should have perma running buff like everyone other than kit swapping.
The truth is, nevermind what I said, there it’s no valid reason not to have 1200 option like Everyone else, and if you don’t agree it’s fine, but that’s not my opinion, as I see everyday reasons why it’s necessary.
Forgive me if I read that wrong, but isn’t a reduced cooldown a buff?
Not with Last Refuge. Remember it’s that minor trait that automagically puts you in stealth a split second before your c&d hits. Would be a buff if they increased the cooldown to, say, 30 minutes.
Does it put you in stealth? Really?
Weird, I thought Last Refuge was “Grants revealed once your health reaches 25%”.
Haha good one! So true though… it’s useful if you can see it coming, but it would be best of they could remove the debuf on that one only. But they probably can’t just remove the debuff for one trait
Thanks for the list.
It’s good to note as well that many of the buffs were later nerfed again (ex.: larcenous strike, and scheduled to be nerfed again) or because of a simultaneous nerf to the game mechanic itself (quickness speed nerf gave us longer duration instead).
I think if one had the patience to do more of an history of the evolution of the updates it could be quite interesting.
(edited by Lady Minuit.3186)
Guys I hear you and I feel the same way. Too much hate on thieves.
Well all I know is I love my guard more and more. When I start getting RSI from my thief I take a break on guard. Sooooo easy and relaxing. It’s like walking in a beach wallpaper.
I really don’t understand how I always pick the losers class in every game. I guess I see challenging or requires skills as a dare, but now it just feel like a trap.
This December is another nerf and whatever they give us now to keep us happy will get nerfed too in a few months.
I feel like telling Anet “take my stealth already!”, maybe then they well stop poke around to see if it hurts.
Yes I’ll keep my thief as official “main”, because I’ve put too much time and effort into her now.
Just yay for alts I guess…
I think reducing the cost of unload would help, as well as increasing the damage of 1 and 2.
One other thing I think would be nice would be to put ricochet in the critical strikes line instead of trickery.
I would also add penetration (similar to the ranger) to the trait pistol mastery to make it more appealing. Most mastery traits reduces cool down as well as added damage so I think this is well deserved.
If not make pistol mastery reduce the initiative cost of the pistol skills. In fact all to be fair with other classes all mastery traits should reduce initiative cost of said weapon skills.
I like this idea. I think they had an idea with steal, but somehow it never became really.. cool. It’s mostly a nice step in its current state.
Most classes have really useful F1-F4 skills and the class revolves around it, but for thief it’s kinda meh, unless you really trait for it.
In a previous post I even went further as to suggest to have F1-F4 with different items stolen with different effects, similar to the guardian’s special abilities.
- Give them more than just F1 skill. Add F2, F3, F4. I think all classes should have F1 to F4 skills.
People suggested venoms, but instead you could have variants of stealing with different effect or specific things you steal.
F1: steal a common object (same as current F1)
F2: steal a weapon that grants you an attack buff (Might, Fury or Retaliation)
F3: steal an item that protects you (Aegis, Protection or Regeneration)
F4: steal an item that gives you mobility (Stability, Vigor or Swiftness + Stealth)
Balance as necessary.
Well maybe it’s too OP, but either way, I think they need to make something cooler with steal.. especially if they are going to nerf everything else.
So, I’d vote for your idea at least.
