Did you put a rune or upgrade on it? unfortunately that will soulbind the item – which I think is a really silly mechanic but anyway,

There is a workaround although it will take same gems.

Transmute the look of the helm onto a blue item. (make sure it is high enough to accept the rune if you put one on the helm). It will now be account bound. Transfer the helm to the character you want to have wear it and then use a trans splitter and it will now be soulbound to the new character.

Kind of a lousy way to have to do it and considering the number of people that wind up accidentally soulbinding items you would think a reasonable company would change that mechanism but until they do gemstore items are about the only way to solve the problem.

Just throwing in a romance angle doesn’t make me care about the characters. The only characters with any real depth got killed off in the first half of the story line. Rox and Braham have some potential as interesting characters. But Marjory and Kasmeer are just plain boring and so I find their romance mostly to be an irritating interruption in my goal to slaughter as much of the tyrian wildlife as possible while wearing cool armor.

I suspect mine went through so fast because there were no special circumstances. I had put the skins onto a crap set of armor so I didn’t need to ask for any trans stones, splitters or makeover kits, etc.

I would suspect they are indeed handled in the order they are received but if it is a simple request for a refund of gems and has all the info they need to find the account immediately it is probably handled by the person who first receives the ticket. If something more is require, I would suspect, it probably gets sent on to the next level and that, of course, would take longer.

I think that after you open the chest for the first time the parts become available on a table near each chest. If i am right there should be a sport near the chest where you will get an “interact” option rather than “open.” Selecting interact should give you that part of the journal. If that doesn’t work try to trigger the consol with the code OMADD and see if that will give you the option to interact with the tables near the chests to get the journal piece.

do a google search for gw2 temple status. One of the links will be a site that shows the current status of all the temple on all servers. Then guest to a server that has the temple open. Alternatively, Isle of Janthir does a dungeon train most nights between 7 and 9 pm in which they open all the temples one after another. So guesting on IoJ about that time is pretty sure to be a lucky bet.

Some of the costume don’t have a separate leg piece, the mad king outfit is one of those.

It’s always hard to tell for sure but I would try iron, natural and grape shade. I think that would be close to that color combination.

Dragging a tradable one onto a non-tradable skin still worked as of last week anyway. I did it with a fused hammer skin that was mouldering in my storage.

With the dragon skins, most of the buy offers are close enough to the sell offers that you could buy one on the tp and then sell the two skins back and make a little extra cash.

Unfortunately, the dragon skins, unlike most of the other skins, don’t seem to be able to be obtained with black lion tickets which means you can’t farm the keys for them.

i don’t know why the old skins did not become tradable when they made the new ones tradable. i assume there must have been some difficulty in the programming that would have taken too much effort to work around because simply making an arbitrary decision to keep the old skins from being tradable would have been, well, slightly less intelligent than moronic.

I am sure this was the original intent. However, since nearly every heavy and light armor set has a butt-cape, they wind up with almost the same basic profile as the medium trenchcoats. So it is still very difficult to decide at a glance what you are facing. So keeping the armor subclass looks separate is rather pointless.

Yeah it can be but it takes a lot of time.

Actually the whole story instance of Toxx’s dungeon can be soloed depending on which scenarios you get (taking back the doll village is pretty hard to solo but the others are pretty easy, just time consuming)

In any case, either solo the story instance and then go around an wreck everything or wait for one of the scenarios that can’t fail (like one of the collection scenarios or the paint the dolls scenario) and wreck everything before completing the scenario.

Whew – what a relief, I had missed that part. Anyway, ascended armor is account bound on creation and soulbound on use so, yeah, he probably added an upgrade and that made it soulbound.

That would make the armor soulbound.

If this is what happened you can make it account bound but it will take a lot of gems. Transmute the ascended appearance onto a blue item stats. Now it will be account bound. Give it to the toon you want to have wear it and then use a splitter and it should now be soulbound to the new toon. If you use a high enough blue item I believe you can also preserve the runes.

But if you are doing this with 6 pieces of armor that’s a lot of real life money.

The different weights of armor med, light and heavy do not count separately.

you need 1 glove, 1 pants 1 shirt etc…. from tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 regardless of armor weight.

So you still need 6 t1 and 6 t2 pieces of armor

I farm it, however, because I am stuck with some unsellable fused and old wintersday skins. By getting the tickets and stacking the skins I can make the old unsellable ones sellable so it will double my money (when I finally get seven of those stupid tickets).

Lamont, all of that is not really necessary. Just take the character and use it. The only change I make is buy a longbow for warrior and a sceptor for guard (blue, can be resold at the end). All others are given a ranged type weapon.
At the end everything is sold to the tp or salvaged. Anything that can’t be sold or salvaged is left on the character and deleted with it.

No, it is not necessary. So, if you just want 1 or 2 keys then, no, don’t bother with anything other than starter equipment.

But it does cut down the time of the run a great deal (often cutting 1/4 to 1/3 of the time required) and if you are going to be farming a lot of keys (and you will have to farm a lot if you want the black lion tickets) the minutes you save on each run will add up significantly in the long run.

Just a couple of things to speed it up for those who don’t already know:

Choose human/commoner (already mentioned)
If you have deluxe version each new toon gets the banker golem and can access your bank so you can begin immediately with better armor and weapons

So go to the TP and buy the best level 0 armor you can find that takes an upgrade and put a minor rune on each piece that gives +10 power as its first attribute (be sure all your runes are different so that you don’t get the second attribute instead of the +10 power on any piece)

Same with a weapon (or two if using main and offhand). You can put a garnet pebble or a sigil in for more power.

If you want to maximize effectiveness even more you will need to use skins and transmutation splitters. Buy a headpiece, shoulder piece and any level back item. Skin them with whatever skins you have lying around (HoM for head and shoulder if you have them). Now use a splitter on each of them and you will have a level 0 helm, shoulder and back item each with an open upgrade slot that can take more power upgrades. (This gets around the limitation that head, shoulder and back items with upgrades do not inherently come in levels less than 10)

If you got the Pola doll, it also is a level 0 item that can take a power upgrade such as an adorned garnet pebble.

Doesn’t really matter what profession or weapon you choose you will be pretty much 1 and 2 shotting everything up till “infiltration.” (you do not have to kill the drakes in infiltration, by the way)

Some other hints:

1: put fancy skins on all your armor that way you won’t mix your good armor up with your starting armor and accidentally delete a character wearing your good armor

2: unlock any weapon skill that are useful in the opening sequence just because centaurs are easy and plentiful there. (depending on weapon choice you may not need or want all 5 skills)

3: if you get to the garrison and the doors are closed run around to the back side to skip straight to the giant elemental closing sequence

4: For the heart quest feed the cows 6 bags of feed and then water 2 or three corn plants – this is fast and going there opens the way point south of the bridge which will be useful for desperate medicine.

55: bags of feed give you a speed boost – pick one up to speed yourself on your way to the bandit cave for the medicine run.

6: Always choose to save the hospital instead of the orphanage. The only thing you need to really watch out for in the fight at the hospital is one of della’s early shots. Jump in to get the fight started and then go back outside and hide behind the door for a couple of seconds before going back in and taking her down.

7: let the npcs do the work in the level 10 mission (the commander) while you put your good armor back in the bank and do any salvaging/selling you need to do (an excellent way to raise luck level, incidentally.

8: if you have two free slots use 2 toons for the farm and alternate back and forth, passing weapons, armor and accessories back and forth – this also helps protect you from accidentally deleting a toon with good weapons or accessories still on them.

9: If you want you can switch to a ranged weapon for the hospital sequence but I usually find it just as easy to use whatever I happen to have already. As long as you get della down the others are pretty simple.

Personally, I enjoy warrior, thief, ele and mesmer for the farm but any prof and just about any weapon set will work fine. Also playing with a guildie makes it even faster and a lot less boring.

And, oh yes, although it should be obvious, don’t bother worrying about the mission levels. you will be only level 5 when you finish the level 10 mission.

Not horribly profitable but decent and you get some good dyes and boosts that you can use on other toons.

The old ones are dyable too. I’ve go it on one of my other toons. if you can’t dye yours you may have used a dye on it that your current toon does not have unlocked. Try using the dye remover function on each dye option and then dye it again.

Um there is a way to break soulbinding although it will cost a lot of gems

1: use the upgrade extractor to salvage the rune if you want to keep it (though, frankly just buying a new rune would be cheaper than the extractor)

2: transmute the looks of the exotic onto the stats of a white or blue piece of armor to make it account bound

3: pass to the character that you want to put the armor on

4: use a transmutation splitter to give you back the account bound white or blue item plus the exotic armor now soulbound to the toon that used the splitter

But, again, that’s pretty pricey and probably cheaper to rebuy the mats and recraft the armor.

By the way, transmuting and then splitting also resets the ability to choose the stats on ascended items like the light of dwayna – in case you ever feel the need to do that.

Not really strange. They didn’t put out any 1 ticket skins in this update like they did in all the others recently. Very few are going to bother buying or farming enough keys for 50 scraps for a single skin and those that do farm for keys don’t need to buy that many chests as they get a fairly high rate of chests to go along with the keys they farm anyway.

It comes with no stats, but you double-click and it will let you select from a LOT of stats(I think pretty much every Ascended stat). It’s a one-time deal though.

If you really need to change the stats again you can get around this by transmuting the look to another back item and then using a splitter. The stats reset to the selectable state.

If you use the splitter you should get back a soulbound ascended sword as well as a level 0 account bound sword with the sclerite look. The splitter does give you a preview so you can double check before using.

Is the golem you buy in the gemstore the same as the one you got with the deluxe edition? Once purchased will every new character you make will have the golem for two weeks?

I have never bought the one from the gem store so I don’t know for sure but i think you just get the one sent to you in your email, not one on every new character.

If you really want one on every new character I think you have to buy the deluxe upgrade.

However, it’s really only useful if you are rushing through the opening mission for key farming. After that you can pretty much access the bank from anywhere by going to wvw and taking a short trip to the cooking station, then sign out and back on to be back where you were.

Also the bank access express consumables that you sometimes get from black lion chests and dailies are useful if you really want to access your bank in a spot where you don’t want to jump to WvW.

So I would not bother buying the banker golem from the gemstore myself.

Hmm long term goal eh? Let’s take in consideration how long it’ll take to gear up everyone’s 5 char slots that came with the game.

Is there even enough time in the life cycle of this game to get this gear?

I’ve been staying out of the whole “grind” discussion while I waited to give ascended a chance. But with the last few updates I’m getting really discouraged. On GW1 I had two accounts (16) characters I think. And the nice thing was that I could work on getting my obsidian armor for one or two toons and still know that I could gear up the rest of my characters with maximum stats for effective and enjoyable game play. Players also had to work together and make sure their builds meshed for most of the dungeons and more elite areas.

But, having crafted 6 ascended weapons (3 each for my 2 main toons), I am looking at my other toons thinking it will be pure misery to craft even one more of those stupid pink things. So the rest of my toons will pretty much stay in the barn. And now I’m gonna have to craft 6 pieces of ascended armor PER TOON after raising the required crafting disciplines.

Meanwhile the combat system is still clunky and clumsy, the story line is boring, the living story gave us villains flatter than a Nebraska landscape, the missions are dull, so unchallenging a 3 year old could do them, and unrepeatable, and most of the new content can be completed in a couple of days easy. Plus there is absolutely no need to mesh builds in the vast majority of the dungeons and “elite” areas. And on top of that crafting ascended is artificially time gated to slow things down.

This game has essentially become: join zerg, read book while waiting for boss, set skill 1 on repeat, read book till boss is dead, pick up loot and move to next boss, check some chests for emperial shards, go craft some ascended crap.

Frankly, I’m not looking forward to this wintersday and so I think for the first time in 7 years, my holiday plans will not include guild wars.

Were you typing the emotes in or using the skill buttons? As I recall he will not accept emotes from chat. They must be performed using the skill buttons. Don’t know if that helps

Certain ori imbued inscriptions can only be obtained by salvaging non-crafted exotics. The ones on the table that are shaped like an upside down orange tear are salvage only. The ones that look like a block of wood are crafted only. Ii don’t know what the answer is for named exotics, however.

While i understand Gaile’s “wait and see” request, the fact is that in the past customer service has always stated that it is impossible to restore in-game items and gold. In this case, for those whose armor look gets changed into something they don’t like an don’t want, restoring the former expensive skins on some armors will be a basic requirement of fairness, as will refunding dyes, splitters, character makeovers etc for those made changes in order for the their characters to fit well with the new armor they just bought. That means the devs will have to doing far more than designing a new armor skin. And that means they need to work on these things NOW, now some time down the road when they release the new armor skin and find out people don’t like it. So yes, this is the appropriate time to deal with this issue and figure out the best way to solve these problems.

since it appears customer service is about to make totally bone-headed move that will certainly lose them customers, it might be a really good idea to get hold of reps like Regina and Gaile (are those the right ones?) right NOW before this nonsense occurs. Maybe there is still time to head it off at the pass and to find a sensible solution that isn’t totally stupid.

Thankfully, I only wanted the gloves and put it on a cheap pair but, yeah, customer service had better get ready to do right by those who put this over an expensive skin and will now lose that skin if they use a splitter. If people in that situation start getting the automated “We can not restore in-game items” message when they ask for help" there will be a well deserved gathering of pitchforks and torches in Tyria! Hopefully customer service is smart enough to think of what to do ahead of time and to delay release of the new skin until they have a fair solution to this screw up. If they can not handle this issue fairly then the best thing to do would be to leave the already purchased skin alone, apologize and be sure not to repeat the mistake in the future.

Pretty sure they are just the current back pieces (minus the 2 former magic find items) but using blood stone dust instead of mist essence.

I don’t have any problem with these other then the fact that a whole set of flame armor is a bit too much fire for me. If I could by just a piece or two to accent some other set I would. But I’m not going to buy a whole set only to leave 5 pieces in the bank.

I agree we need account wide unlock for achievement skins

However, the soulbound thing is sort of true and sort of not true. If the item has a “skin” on it a splitter will give you a level 0 req account bound item with the skin appearance and you can freely put it on another character. It will however, be limited to the armor class you originally used it on. So we are still limited to one item at a time and, if the item was on an armor piece, it is permanently locked to a particular class.

Account wide unlock would be a thousand times better.
