I don’t think you can get another machined in game. But, have you thought about the shimmering/tenabrous weapons? If you have a good guild and can get the commendations, they also remained account bound I believe. Also, you can get the commendation for the treks and races even if others in you guild do not participate. If you go that route, however, be sure to get the required guild weapon on the toon that will craft the final version as the guild weapons is soulbound on acquire.

As far as I know there was no actual bug that kept people who were redoing that quest from buying firestones. The bug was that we could not get firestones without redoing the whole story up to that quest – over and over and over.

Have you tried crafting with the weapon in the bank? Items for crafting do not need to be in the actual inventory of the character doing the craft. They just need to be in your bank. I don’t think soulbinding makes a difference for that.

By the way – you can actually play with the black cats. If you get to the snowball before they do and pick it up, you can throw it and they will chase it.

Personally I kinda liked the glowing chaos look with swirling lightning, but this…it looks pretty awesome as well. I just wonder what the effects will look like.

I had a chance to look at the link in-game. It’s a skin link (not a weapon) with no name. That’s a better match for an NPC item or a bundle. If we’re to eventually receive it, it’s not ready yet.

Given the style, I would guess it’s one of the abandoned legendaries.

The staff listed in the same post is also an unnamed skin link, but it doesn’t look legendary to me.

The staff is the envoy staff from GW1. I would suspect they will both be gemstore items since i can’t see them putting gw1 stuff in as game rewards.

This is unquestionably the worst designed event in all of GW 1 and GW 2. How could developers with any experience at all think this was well designed?

I do not like this set very much but I do have to say they are appropriate for my “Tavern Wench Barbie” toon so I had to get some.

The hunt is not a full precursor. It is the first intermediate precursor on the way to the legendary shortbow. It has to be salvaged as there is no other way to progress.

I noticed when I finished the baby book collection the kittens had grown. Do they grow or change again when you finish the training collection? Can you still carry them with you once you have finished training them?

I do like the new minis and the new way of getting them.

But I would very much like to be able to do something with the 50 or so old BLC minis sitting in my bank – at least to be able to toss them in the forge. They are useless but they represent wasted money. Please ANet, let us do something with them.

A lot of the story line got shuffled around and then sort of shuffled back when they changed the level requirements to multiples of 10. (Same time they put in the new level rewards). So yeah your story may have reset somewhat.

Or, you may have helped a friend do some story mission that were ahead of your owm.

No, but the hall of monuments and the skins earned from achievement points have unlimited free use. So I use those when leveling. Also, if you like the toy skins from Christmas, they are very cheap to buy on the TP.

I believe i put mine into a cheap exotic trinket and salvaged it back out again with a black lion kid (100% upgrade extraction) and it became sellable

Indeed, if it reads 175 when you mouse over the final skill, that is the TOTAL needed to unlock the full traight line – not just the one skill.

I have a wintersday character outfitted just they way I want him – except for his gloves. There are very few nice looking winter handwear items. Would be get some ugly wool mittens please? Those snowballs are gettin mighty cold.

It is from the laurel vendor – oh and for the 2nd recipe it is 10 wintersday gifts instead of candy canes. Just so you know when the mf does not let you put candy canes in. And, oh yeah, you will actually need 4 of the minis to make the next tier.

That’s what I mean alright. My preserved queen bee is now a winter’s presence. And, yeah I have them all at high but there is some really weird bug going on because even when I took the item off the fog stayed (over my head instead of on my body) and no matter what I do I can’t get rid of it. Logged out multiple times and still there.

Hmm I have the bee and tried it on just to see what it would look like. First I got fog and no snow. So I took it off – only I still have that fog around my toon. Even put it in the bank, logged off and back on a again and it still had the fog. Logged off, logged on with a different toon and then back – still fog.

I believe the May 11th was for the refund of very high end dyes. They are supposed to mail a refund for the dye to you by that date. Refunds of clothes should happen before then.

Took me a while to figure this out. It would be helpful if they would publish information with mechanics changes.

Go to your wardrobe panel and choose weapons. You will see two categories. The group at the top of the screen will contain the zenith skin. When you select it, it will give you the transmute screen but the transmute cost will be 0 charges instead of 1.

So I had 2 full sets of gem store town clothing – Mad King’s (which was equipped to my Warrior pre-patch) and Fancy Winter’s (equipped to my Ele pre-patch). How can I access them? Will trading them for this tonic “retrieve” them? Is this the only way?

Town clothes has been lazily done. I don’t want to trade them for a tonic, I just want to get them back where I can place them in my bank, so I can be refunded 1600 gems and have this sham taken away from me.

The mad king and the winters day were turned into outfits, not tonics. you can go ahead and equip them and use them on top of your armor.

You will note that the gem store gear they release along with the living world content stays in the gem store even after the event finishes though…

And given the fact that the only new sets of armor introduced into the game itself in almost 2 years were the ascended sets, the ONLY way to get a significantly different look is through the gem store. Even the new ingame weapons introduced were connected to the gem store through black lion keys. Other than bits and bobs for achievement rewards, this game has added almost NO NEW INGAME ARMOR in a year and a half.

That is NOT a good sign of a company that is interested in its own game. And if ANet is not interested enough in its game, why should the players be?

Frankly, now that season 1 of LS is over and the latest patch is out we are pretty much three steps back from where GW2 began.

The new wardrobe may add some convenience but it doesn’t really add any functionality to the game.

Role playing has been decimated by the megaserver move and the removal of functional town clothes.

At the end of the first living story we have no new dragon yet. No new areas opened up. Lions Arch totally empty. No significant changes to WvW. And the writing of LS was just really shallow. There was little to make you care about the characters other than maybe Rox and Braham.

Loyal guilds and alliances like TTS were totally ignored when they asked for the schedule to be altered to allow them to continue to do major bosses. I don’t know what will happen with the temple runs worlds like IoJ used to do now that world bosses spawn further apart.

We still have a grind for ascended gear, even if it can now be shared between toons.

Comparing how GW2 was on the day after release to how it is now, well, it just feels like we have less, not more. It really feels like they put out the info on the latest patch, asked opinions, and then proceeded to ignore every single thing their players said and every response we gave.

It just isn’t much fun now.

frankly, the new gemstore armor, which looks like rehashed versions of what we already have, is pretty much appropriate for this game. It is a badly rehashed version of what it was 12 months ago with less now than it had then.

serious? Every single hoodie was paired with riding pants and riding boots for their tonics? And khaki cargo shorts were paired with the long sleeve layered shirt?

I’m sorry but this is just, well, barf inducing.

And why on earth are people selling them on the TP for 2 gold when they could get a refund in gems worth more than three times that?

I know I am demanding a refund for EVERY….SINGLE…TONIC.

And why in the world were the original town clothes made into useless tonics? not to mention you get 3 endless copies of the idiot tonics for each toon – why? Why didn’t they just make the original town clothes into outfits instead of sticking us with the boring black and red undyable tonics? Blarg – that’s just really lazy design.

Looks like you guys figured it out, but I’ll make it official anyways.
- Splitters aren’t sold any more because, all skins you would get with a splitter will already be unlocked by the wardrobe system automatically.
- The only reason to use a splitter at this point is to get the stats of the current appearance back. (Or as someone mentioned to create an extra item salvage, but i’d suggest you save your splitter and trade it in for charges if you want value)

We are not removing them from inventory automatically. You will trade them in at a black lion trading post after the 15th.

Say, if I bought Phalanx armor, applied every skin on a character’s armor and then transmuted them to look like a different set, will I still have Phalanx unlocked? I’m asking this because I read a post saying otherwise.

You will unlock the current skin on each armor item as well as the default skin of the item you selected the stats from.
As the phalanx skins are stat-less and are applied onto an item, overwriting that skin means it is lost forever.
If you have at least one piece of the skin left unused or on a piece of armor then the entire phalanx set will be unlocked.
If you overwrote all of the phalanx skins with a new skin then your phalanx set would need to be purchased again to unlock in your wardrobe.

Since this is a gemstore item I would doubt he would have to repurchase. If nothing else, they probably have a record of the sale (they would have to since they are offering refunds of various duplicate skins). If the skin does not unlock for him automatically, I suspect he can contact support and they will unlock it for him.

Oh, yeah.

I was unsure of what will happen to the unique starter items like the necro masks. If they are not included in the wardrobe it will no longer be possible to transmute them to another profession. So I used an extra toon slot, made one of each and transmuted them onto an account bound item. Probably paranoid – but just in case.

I might also suggest removing any bought town clothing from your characters and putting it in inventory. You never know in such a large update what kind of bugs might be introduced and I was concerned logging in on a toon that had been wearing 2 different pieces of armor that would become tonics could cause log-in problems (probably won’t. but better safe than sorry)

And I also took screen shots of my inventories and bank. I bought 3 wintersday outfits and will be asking for a refund for two of them now that having bought one will open it on all my toons. I will also be asking for a refund for almost all the tonics. So I thought it best to have screens ahead of time.

A couple other things that can shave a few seconds off:

When you buy the level 0 armor, get ones with an upgrade slot and stick in minor runes that grant +10 power as the first benefit. (make sure they are not duplicates of each other). with boots, leggings, gloves and coat, that is +40 power which make a huge difference in killing things fast at those low levels. (don’t forget to take the armor off and put it back in the bank before deleting and rerolling).

In the initial story (defense of Shaemore) you do not have to waste time talking to the npcs. Just kill centaurs to open whatever skills you prefer and then run to the final battle inside the Garrison (or around if the doors are closed)

Sacks of feed provide a speed boost so for the run to the mission “desperate medicine” pick one up on your way to the bandit cave (if you don’t have the warhorn).

At the hospital, run in to activate the fight and the run back out for a second so Delta doesn’t hit you with her initial bleeding shot. Then run back in and take her down. Next take down all the bandits before you attack uptown Johnny. They are weak but if you don’ t get rid of them they can be shooting you in the back while you kill big nose and blaize and being downed will waste more time than killing them.

Contact support. I had an ascended I had put on a white item to transfer to a storage toon and needed to split it. They sent me a free splitter because they had removed them from the store. They might be willing to do the same for you.

This is what I thought, but if you listen to what that guy in the middle of the video said at the 12 40 mark it does make you think twice about it…..

They did remove splitters but I am not sure why.

At the 12:40 point they were saying you can use splitters till the 15th. But i think that was to let people know the splitters were able to be used till the 15th, not to say you had to use them to regain the skins because just prior to that they said both the skins will be unlocked.

The only reason you would have to use a splitter would be to regain the stats if you transmuted a high level soul bound item onto a lower level item.

But a splitter would not unlock any skins that the 15th unlock won’t open anyway.

In any case, I contact support and explained I had put my light of dwayna on a low level item to put it in storage from a toon I was deleting and needed to split it to get the stats back and they sent me a free splitter.

So you might try putting in a support ticket.

Sound like they didn’t really understand what you were asking for.

You could try opening a thread in the account issues forum and see if you can get a response that way.

And i still think it is really weird that they told us to use a splitter in the blog only to remove the splitters less than a week later – that is just odd.

They need to address this problem by giving away free splitters in the shop under promotion. Yes splitters, more than 1.

By April 15th, the splitters will be useless to “ANET” anyways.

I believe I recall reading that people with transmutation splitters would be getting charges in return in the same way as people with transmutation stones/crystals would be getting compensated. This would make giving the splitters away problematic.

Correct. From April 15th onward, instead of having its current functionality, activating a T-Splitter will add 5 T-Charges to the account wardrobe.

I hardly think it would be problematic to give away a limited number to each player since people are going to start putting skins on their items like crazy (I know I probably will). Can you imagine how many charges they are going to sell to accounts that have a legendary?

There has to be some reason these were removed so soon after they told us to use them to split items to get the stats back. – other than bad communication, I hope.

I support TTS. I am also concerned about those servers that do daily boss runs for the dragonite. Are they still going to be able to fit a full run with temples into a 2 to 3 hour window? Dragonite is already pretty tough to get if you are trying to outfit 3 or 4 characters.

I realize this would eventually happen, that either they would have to go to megaservers or start closing low pop servers.

But I do think a way needs to be found to do this that does not make it harder for players to actually play the game the way they want.

Just a caution for people who may not be looking in the BLT thread and might not be aware of this.

Transmutation splitters have been removed from the gemstore without notice. This has left several people with high level items that they transmuted onto low level stats (white or blue) in order to transfer between toons or to put in storage. although the upcoming April changes will make the skins available, it does not look like it will restore the stats to these items.

So just a caution not to transmute a high level skin onto a low level stat or you will lose everything but the skin itself unless ANet temporarily returns the splitters to the store so that we can restore our equipment before the update – which would be greatly appreciated!

(I do, of course, understand why they were removed – they don’t want people putting the skin of a legendary on a low level item after the 15th and then using a splitter to get a free legendary. But maybe, instead of removing them from the store, they could just deactivate splitters on the 15th? Please?)

gah. I just remembered I did this with my Light of Dwayna in order to put it in storage when I deleted a character. Just submitted a request. I think this topic should also be placed in discussion so more people see it and are warned not to make this same mistake until this is straightened out.
