I agree with cursE, effects of legendaries should be tied to the actual weapons.

I also think that eles should be asking for new weapons added to the class for their functionality, not looks.

You are right. When I was trying lightning rod I was critting for around 3.5K when fighting a cele ele, so I imagine the damage is way higher if it’s a duel between to zerkers. However, I don’t think that it’s more damage than you would get from fresh air.

Im not really sure about fire offering more survivability, more often in roaming u are not 1v1ing, that blind trait gets worse the more stuff join up the fight, be it players, pets , guards, or even clones.

I went back to roaming yesterday, started with my usual SPvP build Fire/water/arcana, it was all good.
Then I also tried Air/Water/Arcana. And I was pleasantly surprised.

I think air is pretty good in WvW, I don’t like it as much in sPvP.

Also Mobility is a pretty BIG part of roaming, and RTL on 13/26 secs CD is pretty kittening sweet.

I agree. When I play d/d, I use air even in pvp simply because it’s most fun for me. I love the air trait line, it’s probably not the best, but for roaming I think the mobility definitely helps a lot.

Well, I have a feeling that Shiro (he was an assassin) will let you wield sword/sword instead of daggers. And since it’s almost certain Shiro will be the dps legend, I don’t think they would be adding both s/s and d/d. Obviously it could be any combination of those weapons, but I would like to see s/s a bit more.

1. I honestly don’t understand why Swirling winds is not a field when all similar skills like Wall of Reflection, Shield of Absorption, Feedback…have some combo field. I definitely think there should be one added to Swirling winds, too.

Haha, I remember watching Caith duel Nos when they were able to try the specs for the first time and he just couldn’t dodge Singet of Spite at all.

But I agree that signets have one of the easiest animations to dodge.

Since some people prefer it doesn’t follow and some people would like it following them, I think the best solution would be able to switch between those. If you invoke Ventari, the tabled should be summoned automatically, then instead of the summoning skill, you would have a skill that would switch the tablet from moving to stationary with the skill that lets you place it wherever you want. Problematic would be the fact how to switch it back to following, but I’m sure they could figure out somethign.

Or they could simply add a F2 for the tablet that would switch it from follow you to you being able to place it and vice versa.

Note that elementalists cannot switch from a melee form to a range form either with their atunement swaps.

…but slot a summon and do it that way…what works great. Ice bow.. lightning hammer..or maybe FGS? All viable ways to change the range of battle on the fly AND that without an attument swap needed.

Please stop spreading this, it’s hardly true. While it might look good on paper, in pvp you hardly ever see conjured, they’re not really that great. The only conjure that was in almost every build is FGS, but since it was nerfed again, sometimes you don’t even bother to use it. In pve this doesn’t really matter, because most people use staff anyway and will have range from both. Not even mentioning icebow is used only for a few seconds before it’s dropped again. In most cases the chosen weapon will determine your range for most of the time, period.

Conjured are not like kits, they have long cooldowns, are not that great in many scenarios and are usually used only for some specific effects, not like something that can fully replace your weapon skills unlike kits.

This doesn’t change the fact I think revenant does either need weapon swap or change of weapon skills with legend swap.

I’m really getting tired of all the memers running around spamming mantra and stunning me with no tell. This class was so dumbed down everyone can go and play it. All the instant stuns and dazes, along with unavoidable blind, 15 sec cd on anything interrupted, stealth burst is just way too much. I’m really hoping they’re getting a nerf soon, because this is not fun at all.

ummm solo que was horrible, most people yolo que and also the best players in the game were forced to wait 15+ min for games.

There coming out with guild leader boards and a reg leader board. If you cant make it on those im sorry to say you probably wont make it on a solo one either.

As i excepted, revenant turned out to be a freekill. Theres no way to win any 1v1 even vs a fresh player, and in teamfights they melt in literally 2 seconds due to lack of tools to actually help them survive – rev is like a pve mob, just focus and down. Necros looks like a gods in comprasion.

The negative comparisons to necro are killing me lol but seriously it may fail now but they won’t let it stay like that. It will definitely take them way less time then it did for necro, HoT is on their mind.

I really hope so, since currently revenant is just totally unplayable.

I’m quite comfortable with playing anything, let it be dps, condition specs or support, but the problem with revenant is that it just sucks so horribly in every aspect of the game.

For pve it just doesn’t have enough damage. Or maybe I should say that it has so little damage, I wouldn’t wonder if it actually healed the mobs.

For pvp and also wvw it’s just food. Revenant has absolutely no defensive mechanisms whatsoever. It also desperately needs some stunbreaks, I really do not understand why there is a stunbreak on a skill with almost THREE second cast time. Many and many of the skills have insanely long cast time and you don’t need to care only about energy management, but also cooldowns (This is just ridiculous.). So yeah, revenant in pvp is just bad.

The healing of Ventari is decent, I would say, but even if you put cleric gear with dolyak runes on, you just melt to everything anyway.

I do get Shiro is not out yet, but I honestly cannot imagine there’s going to be any synergy between the legends we have so far. Not like there’s any now, anyway.

Edit: Oh yeah and due to having both cooldowns and energy management and no weapon swap, you’re going to end up just using those AA’s that hit like a wet noodle half of the time.

Another thought…I think the whole tagging system really needs a change…if you do play support including other classes…it is very very difficult to get tags for events/mob kills b/c it’s entirely reliant on damage; support builds with support gear is incapable of getting the damage needed to get rewards…it’s one my major beefs with this game since launch. That needs to be changed if they really want people to play support…it’s one main reasons why most go zerker just to get exp/loots.

I would say the main reason why people go zerker is the fact no one ever needs any kind of fully traited support spec. Pve is easy and casual, the most efficient is to just go zerker.

so to be fair I went back to my Revenant and changed everything to Zerker. Using Hammer and Jalis, I went into Southsun Cove. This is where I test most of my builds.

Sadly the dps is still lackluster on Hammer even with all Zerk gear and Scholar runes. The AOE targeting is cumbersome and abilities you would expect to pack a wallop just does nothing. I didn’t even bother with mace/axe or Staff. Anyway, my original opinion stands. Other than the armor skin looking cool, I don’t want anything from the Revenant.

You should have tried other weapons, they’re definitely better than hammer. They’re not good, but it’s not such a catastrophe.

I’d say the revenant is better designed than most other classes, it just needs more polish.

The more I’m playing revenant, the more I think the mechanic of the class is just horrible. I love the idea of legend swapping, but honestly it doesn’t go well with one weapon tied to the class. The legends have very little synergy and it’s going to be hard to make some viable build. I think I would like change of weapon skills better than utilities, those are usually weaker and don’t have much of an impact.

The whole damage is vay too low, condition application is problematic and the lack of stunbreaks is sad. I really don’t understand the idea to give a skill with almost 3 second cast time a stunbreak, just bad.

I also tried Ventari/Jalis healing spec and that’s totally unviable. While the healing might be decent, you have absolutely no defense and any healing you get doesn’t matter at all.

Overall, I’m quite disappointed. I’m hoping that Shiro will be at least good, but then we have the issue of not having any synergy with the remaining legends.

Edit: Also the cast times are quite bad, 1 second on so many skills.

It will come to all who prepurchase the Heart of Thorns. It’s not possible to buy the expansion and not also have/get the core game as the two are tied together.

I’m not understanding you. Which people are you referring to that get the core game for free but don’t get the character slot? If you buy the expansion you’ll get at least one character slot. If you buy the Deluxe and Ultimate, you’ll get 2. All 3 (Basic, Deluxe, Ultimate) will also get a beta slot.

The extra character slot, which is given to veteran players who prepurchase. If you are a new player, you get only the free core game, not any extra character slots.

Staff is direct damage melee, hammer is a high range direct damage weapon (1200) with control. Mace is a mace, melee with a hint of condition damage.

So yeah, it’s expected staff will be the strongest direct damage weapon so far :p

Higher range doesn’t mean lower damage than melee, though.

yeah on reddit a lot of people were talking about how they’re putting zerk gear on theirs for pve, but none of the weaponsets or traits will really all that great for dungeoning in a zerk build.

I tried it, too. The damage was VERY poor, especially on the AA’s. The highest damage on AA was on staff, but it still was was pretty horrible. I would say it’s around the damage of ele scepter AA’s, maybe a bit worse.

Colin just said on PoI you can put your Ascended gear in your bank and grab it on your Revenant to use because the Beta slot is just a mirror of your live account.

So basically the Ascended gear you would be using would just be a copy of your actual gear.

I think this is definitely going to be deleted, which is understandable.

I just wish people could keep their tokens and gold, so it’s not actually contraproductive to play the new class.

You’re going to need to dodge two Drake’s breaths , a burning speed, and a ring of fire every time the ele goes to fire. You endurance doesn’t recharge that fast even with energy sigils. Also, have fun dodging firegrab-lightning flash.

You don’t need to dodge Drake’s breath, you can just move away from it, especially if you’re a thief or mesmer, you can port away.

You can actually dodge both burning speed and firegrab + LF, it’s not that hard. You will get the beginning of animation and the lightning animation appears just before the damage is dealt.

All of the skills are well telegraphed and you can position yourself well enough not to be forced to dodge so much.

A marauder thief will crit 6-9K on backstabs from stealth, which he can do repeatedly. The counterplay to that is way worse.

Speaking from a PvP perspective here.

Elementalist is currently jack of all trades, and master of all. There is no build on any class that can win a 1v1 against 10011 d/d or d/f cele ele now, on point or otherwise (except maybe cele engi with egun and hgh but that’s because bunker down is OP). The best any can achieve (i.e. PU Mesmer, SA thief, settler ranger) is a hard-fought stalemate. Cele ele currently can burst harder than a marauder thief using any combination of Drake’s breath, burning speed, ring of fire, and fire grab, all of which will be traited for 33% cooldown reduction. All this while being able to outheal almost any marauder or zerk build’s DPS. All that while being one of, if not the best builds for team support.

Elementalist needs nerfs, period. Many people have already made good suggestions on how to tone down ele without breaking the class. I hope Anet implements some of them.

I do agree ele needs some nerfs, but I think you’re exaggerating. The burst of a zerker/marauder thief is insane and I don’t think cele ele does the same damage.

Also, I’m not so experienced on mesmers and when I was playing it, I was actually killing cele eles with not much issues.

Work as intended and is broken indeed, In fact Anet said Condis doing more damage then expected, srsly you can’t defend it, it’s a wrong concept.

The simply need to lower the base coefficient and boost a little (condi damage * coefficient) in this case condis would scale better if you have condi damage in your build and you have a low condi damage if you have a really low value in condi damage.

Example Burning

(0.160*Condi damage ) + 70 damage per stack per second at Level 80

So if you have 0 condi damage

Burning tick = 70 For example 4 stacks with 0 condi damage = 280 damage

If you have 1000 condi damage

Burning tick = 230 For example 4 stacks with 1000 condi damage = 920 damage

Old formulas (before patch) was

0.25*condi damage + 328

328 damage was a little too strong for a base damage so i think 280 should be better (considering now stack in intensity too)

with 1000 condi damage u had a single tick of 328 + 250 = 578 and it would be between 2 and 3 stacks with my example values.

With the actual values, condi damage is broken.

All non condi DMG classes make 1k+ condi DMG since the game’s release.

Mesmer greatsword is an all damage little utility weapon. People need to couple it with something else(CC, immob etc) to land the burst.

Confounding suggestion+daze mantra really make the burst setup way too easy. Basically all those FOTM mesmer players are running this. Imagine either confounding suggestion or daze matra is taken out of the game. All these players will not be able to do anything. Sure they can still take PU but all they can do is just stealth running around and contribute nothing.

I agree with this. I’m not a great mesmer player, but went to try things a few times to see if people are exaggerating or what’s happening with the class. Once I put daze mantra on, bursting everyone was way too easy, it literally took nothing since all I had to do was to check for stab. When I didn’t play with mantra, things seemed quite harder and made me actually focus more. However, I don’t think it’s the only issue.

Yep, the list is great, it contains incomplete list of bugs and two balance issues: having arcana and water too necessary and stepping in and out ring of fire. Totally solves the whole issue of ele being too strong.

I think most people have noticed that the devs have had issues understanding what the problem is multiple times. There’s nothing wrong with people sharing their opinions be it in game, on forums or directly talking to the devs. You seem to have problems with that for some unknown reason, try to deal with it a bit better and you won’t be so bitter and have the need to put insults in every single of your posts.

I really wonder how suggesting nerfs to the class I play actually benefits me.

I still think it’s appalling/shady behaviour not to include a character slot FOR ALL in an expansion that adds a new class, akin to me buying a second car and the retailer not providing a steering wheel because my first car came with one.

So while guardians, elementalists, thieves can blind the heck out of everything, that is fine, but a mechanic that keeps mesmers alive in melee is suddenly game breaking. It’s also max. 4 shatters in a row.

Of course it’s not fine and some of these issues has been adressed. Elementalist blind doesn’t go through evades, though and the trait is also a grandmaster one.
