There’s this game called ‘World of Warcraft’ where there’s an endless supply of brainless raiding. You should give it a shot.
you read my mind it’s exactly what I was gonna write !
also, there are new harder longer dungeons coming with the nov 15 update.
Gw does NOT need raiding !
People talk about raiding as if it’s such a great experience.
all it is, is a long as hell dungeon with gear progression as the main focus.
not to mention how boring it is the encounters do not change at all and there’s really only one way to do them, raids do NOT fit in the GW universe people when will you realize this already !
This is not exactly the same though, there is a ton of content that is different from faction to faction. So a simple faction change is kind of out of the question and very impractical. If it was just a faction you choose and that’s it I would say yes but that is sadly not the case.
If you wish to explore other factions make an alt and join the other factions.
fixing game breaking bugs take priority such as class imbalance, skill/trait bugs personal story bugs, all of these come 1st than cosmetic fluff stuff like clipping issues.
so NO it might take a long time before we see a fix for clipping issues, not that that stops us from dreaming and hoping to see it fixed and cloaks finally introduced
Polearm warrior might be interesting
you can keep the quiver, I’d like to see sword sheaths on my back for my blades.
much more useful to a warrior than a lame quiver.
They did say it’s not something they are currently working on pretty low on their priority list but it might be implemented in the future.
I do agree, and even take a bit further even gw1 had templates you could save and all of a sudden gw2 doesn’t have any, such a shame I truly expected this to be in at launch.
explore dungeon running is as pure skill point farming as it gets mate nothing else will give you 75% of a level in one shot. All you need to do is speed clears and you’re set.
explore dungeon running will get you there pretty quickly mate.
pick a dungeon you know well put a team together and run it a lot every run gives you 75% of XP needed to level so 2 runs per skill point is a sweet deal.
Oh yeah that is assuming you are lv80.
Knight’s gear w/ a shout build + Axe/Mace for the double vuln stacking is very durable.
yes but, making the axe the main hand deprives you of whirling axe which is the 2nd best dmg dealing ability for warriors.
mace/axe small useful combo:
pop stability hit 3-F1-5
They are annoying but I wouldn’t go as far as to call them OP.
There’s no way you can do all events several times, do all the hearts in the starter zone and be only lv12 just no way !
My toon was always 3 lvs to high for the next zone, by the time I got to 80 I had yet to see straits of devastation and my world completion was below 30%
I’d recommend mixing in some WvW and crafting.
My ranger was level 12 when I got map completion in queensdale.
It’s entirely possible.
/thread
Map completion only means you did all the hearts, POI and WP in the map… this is the archaic quest mentality all over again “I have completed the map and still not high level enough QQ” right of course you’re NOT ! hearts are not the main source of XP in the game DE’s are !
I’m not worried about whether it would be worth it (for me it would be, I want those skins!) But whether it would be feasible to do, and just how much harder it would be without a big player base to trade with.
contrary to believe there’s still a very sizable population in gw1, also you do not need other players to party with just make sure you start with eotn for the quick heroes switch to nightfalls for some more heroes and continue your adventure.
It will take a lot of money and time to acquire some of the stuff for HoM, for example destroyer/ tormented / oppressor weapons or vabian/ obsidian armor takes a lot of time and money to acquire these are the Gw1 legendary equivalents.
So in summary it is a matter of time and farming investment even if you can trade certain stuff with other players.
Ectos, the main currency in GW1 was easy to farm but now it is very hard to acquire specially since the underworld is not so readily accessible anymore.
You don’t seem to grasp what we are trying to tell you either,
the ele is a scholar profession, yes the core mechanic for it is the game wide combo fields and finishers mechanic, but that is their strong point no other profession has such access to those as ele’s do. you should be happy actually, I myself as a warrior only have access to 1 fire field and 2-3 blast finishers, 1-2 leap finishers, 1-2 whirl finishers.
Still, what you say is understandable from an ele’s point of view but, than again you chose that profession and that IS their bread and butter !
on a different note:
I have an ele alt as well, and the only weapon that requires this much field and finisher interaction to be viable for solo play is the staff….!
maybe if you switched to a more solo oriented weapon you wouldn’t have so much trouble soloing, and yes I know you said it’s about all professions being on equal footing but than again you don’t see me asking for stealth or banish or symbols do you ?
there’s already a long thread about this issue why start a new one ?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/The-idea-behind-the-25-Bleed-limit-in-PvE/first#post686570This thread is not just about bleeds.
same thing mate, condition stacking is the main issue just as the other thread just because he focused on bleed don’t make a difference.
Those three roles don’t exactly mix very well.
you either go:
- high crit with power/precision/crit dmg
- tank with power/toughness/vit or knight armor with power/precision/toughness
- bleed with power/vit/cond dmg
your weapons also don’t exactly match a specific role mate.
- sword cond dmg build
- axe direct dmg builds
- rifle is more direct/crit dmg than cond dmg.
I’d suggest go tank build with shout support, drop the sword for a mace
mace/axe and rifle for ranged combat
or go full melee if you choose power/toughness/vit and pick a sword/warhorn and mace/shield
a full dungeon armor set with 1 weapon is around 1540 tokens you’ve got ways to go mate.
It would be insanely time consuming and pointless to do it at this point I’m afraid,
also considering the rewards are not really all that great.
If you want to do it for the lore that is a different story though.
the things you will come to know will make you see GW2 Tyria in a whole new light.
Warning:
you may experience severe nostalgia after playing GW1 and coming back to Gw2.

Target of target and player cast bars are low priority <— seriously??
For an action based mmorpg?
Omg Anet what have you been smokin?
They are !
being able to see who is being targeted or
being able to see what your opponent is casting is so meh not skill based at all
learn to recognize key skills by their animations !
cast bars makes it monkey brain easy to interrupt someone it’s not even a challenge !
SWTOR powertech aka healer shredder anyone ?
Legendaries should be about the journey not about RNG.
they should just make a specific mystic forge recipe for each precursor weapon and make the materials something you can gather yourself, the materials themselves need to be account bound or it simply switches the problem over to the materials for making it becoming insanely expensive.
Doesn’t warrior have condition removals? Also, don’t they have access to the most weapons? Don’t rifle skills have 1200 range? I need to pvp with warrior some more but I’ve had worse experiences with mesmers than thieves.
yes, but like I said the problem is if you can’t target it it’s useless.
forced target drop will make it impossible for you to counter a thief or mesmer w/o AOE.
your best hope is to survive the initial assault than lockdown on him and apply damage as quick as you can, even than the best outcome you can hope for is the thief running away like a yellow chicken
I feel like a noob now
didn’t know attunement swapping was considered a weapon swap, that alone there is insanely powerful I take it that counts for engi’s as well.
I was in a spvp match today where a warrior was doing over 16k damage with 100b. Why is it that people like to justify glass cannon warriors by saying they have no defense while glass cannon thieves are still considered op? A backstab is harder to land than 100b.
Stealth is the key factor here about your argument.
you can always see the warrior and a skilled player will most of the time avoid a frenzy 100B !
a 20K backstab from stealth is near impossible to evade.
again stealth is here the defining factor
So why does different rules go for thieves and warriors?
Because 1 shotting someone from stealth is still not the same as 1 shotting in plain sight, also if the thief misses he can stealth run away or come back and try again in a few seconds….
if a warrior misses, he’s dead meat !
no escape abilities whatsoever specially these paper thin warriors.
Nice totally getting a long coat for my warrior
I main mesmer, and I do think they are very strong in PvP, but I will vote against a nerf, at least until they fix Mesmer’s PvE problems
I can see a nerf to portals coming from an AU away right now.
tin foil hat on:
- blade flurry I believe will also see a significant nerf.
tin foil hat off:
Yeah I die like 100x more on my warrior/thief than I do on my mesmer….melee classes just get completely trashed in this game.
O_O how? why?
isn’t Heavy Armor = more defense?
Mesmers have insane damage mitigation abilities, I’ve personally seen a mesmer trash 3 people in tPVP and never die once in the whole Rank 40 tournament.
Not even guardians which most regard as the best bunker class in the game can stand up to them.
That’s when you know something is horribly wrong alright !
@Efaicia.
I love ele’s and have always been an ele in all other mmorpg’s but….
I knew from beta that the ele was gonna be a bit complex to play because of all the core mechanic changes GW2 brought to the table. The learning curve is indeed a bit more steep than other classes because you have to learn extra mechanics on top of all the new common to all profession mechanics.
Which is why I dropped ele for warrior, now that I’ve learned all the common mechanics I will be picking an ele next again.
on topic:
not all professions are equal, if you chose the ele well don’t complain now about the one thing that makes them unique, it is by far the class with the most access to combo fields and finishers.
almost every class has this kind of uniqueness to them that they must learn, some more than others, you just happen to choose the one with the most to learn, which makes sense it is after all a scholar profession.
@plague,
Very well thought out explanation mate, kudos.
we need more rational warriors like you.
You know something is wrong when a light armor class can mitigate damage better than a heavy armor class and take on 3 opponents, kill them all and still have room to spare for the next fight.
My reasoning, I was watching what to many is considered one of the best US tPVP warriors on the scene, and even he admits, he likes the warrior but only roles one because no one else wants to play one and he only runs it for special occasions where lock down builds are required.
As a warrior he died instantly almost everytime no matter how good he played, and trust me he is insanely good.
As a mesmer he was untouchable destroying 3 opponents on a point, never died once as a mesmer in 3 whole tournaments that I saw him play.
The greatsword is only really usable for solo pve.
In any other instance the other weapons are better.. and for solo pve, any weapon is viable really, because the open world isn’t that difficult.
No one wants to see a greatsword warrior join a dungeon group or a pvp team for example, you don’t contribute anything with a greatsword in pvp, and in dungeons your team mates just end up having to revive you all the time, and you don’t contribute anything lying on the ground.
I do have a greatsword build for dungeons, but it involves a lot of toughness and no critdamage.. so no 15K hundred blades.
I beg to differ,
I run dungeons all the time and I use a GS/rifle GS/Bow build for dungeons running a shouts healer/ might stacking build 0/0/25/30/15 and my GS 100B last hit alone does 6K dmg in AC lv35 dungeon. also always carry with you a decent compliment of weapons for different encounters, I myself always have with me exotic versions of: sword, mace, axe, rifle, bow, hammer and rifle.
So you see Konamacona it’s not just so much the weapon but also the build and the player skill that finally determines the viability of the weapon combinations.

You forgot remove the downed/ress feature
how so ? wha’s your reasoning ?
solid plan if you want matches to be decided on who makes more golems.
golems are good in combination with mesmer portals which i foresee a big nerf to in the upcoming patch, also because golems are mobile I would put them in a siege destroyer class and do not damage doors or walls.
That’s just silly. If you remove the swords the puggies will have absolutely no clue about where to go, and will all go to the commander icon. You have promoted zerging even more.
NO because if there’s no icon telling you where the action is everyone is on the same boat and need to coordinate to go and attack or defend.
WvW the way it was meant to be:
- walls and doors harder to break takes more time to break through giving the defenders a chance to actually get there
- secondary entry points to keeps this makes it more strategic for siege equipment placement and troops positioning
- only siege weapons can damage doors and walls stops players from zerging doors and walls
- remove AOE 5 player dmg cap from siege weapons, makes siege weapons something to fear again
- remove orange sword they promote zerging removing these swords forces servers to have defensive strategies, player communication, scouting parties and less zerging. It also places a vital importance on having lookouts at key map locations to convey enemy troop movement.
back on topic.
I personally will be reading the warrior changes with excitement and anticipation.
Also looking forward to all the nerfs to hit thieves and mesmers.
Why was the OP infracted for this? :/
Anyway, sounds good. I’m looking forward to seeing the changes to Ranger.
It’s fine I didn’t know about not using staff names and stuff my bad, title changed to something more generic but still saying what needs to be said.
Stack on top of each other and AOE. The thief has to come to you to stay stealthed and when they do they get hit by your AOE. When they pop out of stealth kill them.
That doesn’t work anymore mate, there are other ways to permastealth other than a proc from backstab or whatever.
permastealth is real not a mythical vampire hunt.
http://www.guildwarsinsider.com/lock-key-permastealth-lives/
I’d still want to know how he put a long coat on a warrior ?
yep, a per player bleed stack limit would solve this issue alright.
I would totally fall of my chair and break a leg if capes were in this update
Someone asked for more procs, that is the definition of bad games mate !
procs are RNG based, I’d rather see them depart from this archaic mechanic all together ! even crit is RNG based which is sadly a necessary evil because we all like to see big numbers fly around.
Some people only read what they want to see not what is truly being written/ said, I feel sorry for such people.
Nowhere in that post does it say X profession will not see any changes, at best it says X profession has seen the fewest changes.
It’d be cool if when you get a legendary you also unlock the pvp version of it as well for use in sPVP. oh yeah sweet !
XP towards your character progression good idea.
drops usable for things other than PVP bad idea.
you want pve drops go play pve
I believe all classes will see both nerfs and buffs to some of their abilities as well as mechanics changes.
I do hope there’s an update for the culling issue in WvW coming with this update.
John Peters has answered a few questions while running around in the Heart of the Mists. He revealed some juice tidbits including talking about some of the upcoming patch notes. He revealed that the patch notes will be almost 5 pages long and includes lots of bullet points for Rangers and Mesmers as well as a huge number of bug fixes. The full list and bonus picture can be found on Reddit posted by iomegadrive1 (give them some Karma love).
According to Jon Peters in the mists a few hours ago:
The profession part of the upcoming patch notes is roughly 5 pages long.
~16 bullet points for rangers.
~30 bullet points for engis.
Mesmers saw the fewest number of changes.
“Tons” of bug fixes.
“Some” balance changes.
Portal is a cool ability that’s important to the game but has some problems (whatever that means from their perspective idk).
The ability to use custom dyes in pvp is possibly coming in a December patch.
Broken treb and lord announcements should be fixed soon.
Target of target and player cast bars are low priority but something they might look at in the future.
Probably no hope of ever letting us disable the terrible skill queue.
Custom rankings, obs mode, etc. all “on the way” (as usual).”

Sounds awesome.
I smell nerf bat coming for the mesmer portals as great as they are let’s face it using them to cheat bypass the keep reinforced defences, kill the lord and claim the keep is not cool at all.
Moderator edit: removed CoC infraction from the title
(edited by Moderator)
right, hmm nice job,
I commend you for the website development and all it’s great programming but….
why would anyone in their right mind go outside the game to find a group ?
as if it’s that difficult to find a few people to run a dungeon ingame or through the ingame LFG mechanics, and even if those mechanics still don’t get you a group you do have the map channel real time chat to all players online to try and fill that 1 spot and all of this ingame !
I hope arenanet doesn’t budge and NEVER develops a wowask style LFG tool EVER.
I run dungeons all the time and have never had any issues finding players to do them
and that was before dungeons were a req. for monthly, now it’s even easier.
you do not have to go the whole 9 yards in shouts to benefit from this setup.
but right now it is one of the few good builds available for warriors in general since all other professions are much better than warriors at pretty much everything.
for example why do guardians have shouts, pull abilities and banish ? those abilities seem more likely designed for the warrior than for a magic class at all.
Warrior build choices that work and make sense:
1- Sniper 2- shouts healer 3- lockdown master 4- brittle glass cannon.
@bowmastersol,
If this was any other game without downlevel mechanics I can understand why some people’s friends might get upset if your level is higher than theirs but in this game that doesn’t matter that much.
I’m in a guild with 500 other players, we play together and very rarely does the what is your level question come into play.
On a side note:
If you have a friend in this game that gets mad at you because you left him behind in levels
he might not yet understand that levels are not the end of the world in this game just the beginning, he might need some more deprogramming from the old ways into the new.
