Also the trading post is a pretty blatant copy of the Eve Online market.

Nothing wrong with that mate, if it’s a great system go ahead, better than trying to copy crappy systems.

I only mentioned it was a great system never seen before in any (theme park) mmorpg, why do you think I said it like that ? (I think by now we all know where the inspiration came from eve though I don’t play EVE)

I’d rather say it was inspired rather than rip off or blatant copy, otherwise all mmorpg are blatant copies of some other mmorpg that came before it because they will all undoubtedly have some common features between them.

I’m not saying that there is anything wrong copying features like this. In fact, when one game comes up with a good idea, copying it is a much better idea than trying to come up with something different.

Hmm, NO trying to come up with something different should be the 1st instinct, now if the wheel is not broken why fix it? meaning if what you wanted to invent already exists why try to make a new one just adapt it to your needs.

Otherwise, if all they did was copy than they would ask themselves well quests work just fine for XX game hmm why try and invent something new ? let’s just copy it and be done with it, see that would be bad !

I can see your point without all the macro and stuff explanation, now tbh I wouldn’t want GW2 to become like the WoW you just described. We can debate this all day long Kalithro, but the fact of the matter is he simply refuses to take the next step and use keybindings instead he wants the game adapted for him THAT is the point NOT weather you can be a better or worse player by using macros or some other form of simplification.

I do NOT approve of macro;s in GW2 specially if it means becoming the game you just described to me above….!

LFG tool suggestion

There is already a soft LFG tool just like the one GW1 had in place.
if you type LFG followed by for example AC story or something. your character receives a blue icon on top of your head that signifies you are looking for a group, also after that if you press Y and go to the tab looking for group you will see who has responded and wishes to join your group for that dungeon or thing you’re looking for a group for.

If you’re just trading useful items between friends, the mail system works fine and you can access your mail anywhere. One on one trading with a trade box a-la Guild Wars 1 will just reduce local chat to WTS spam. No thanks.

Yeah I totally forgot about this major PLUS of NOT having Direct player trading:D
all those spams about WTT, WTS, WTB are mostly gone though the occasional idiot still tries or he doesn’t know the TP is fully operational.

You do know you can make private SPVP servers right ?
you can train your guildies in there as much as you want and not be bothered by outsiders.

And I’m pro dueling but ONLY in the heart of the mists NOT outside in the PVE world.
It’d be annoying with all the duel requests all the time, and it’d look weird as it goes against the lore.

Yes I can confirm it is already implemented, you cannot list an item for less than what a vendor would charge.

That’s not really the issue. The issue is that selling for 1 copper over the vendor price is still a loss. After the 5% listing fee, and the 10% sales fee, you’re getting a full 15% knocked off your asking price, which puts you solidly under the vendor price for the item.

The person you were referring to was saying that the “minimum” posting price should be set so that players have to sell the item for enough to at least break even with the vendor, after the 15% that’s shaved off the top.

I did confirm what was asked by a user, now on to the issue mentioned by you than….

this breaking even is entirely the player’s responsibility the TP prices fluctuate in a matter of minutes if you see you won’t break even at this time wait a bit or list your item for a new lowest or new highest price and break even but in most cases just waiting for the market to fluctuate again after 5 minutes is enough to get you to break even. It is also part of a strategy played by the ones that know the ins and outs of the TP, for example listing 1 or 2 items at a low price and placing the bulk of your items at a higher price enables you to buy out that competitor for cheap than when that low cost 1 or 2 supply is gone your real supply which has now grown thanks to fast TP clicker sellers will sell at a more profitable price.

This does not in any way address your whole issue but it does explain why it exists and why it is the player’s responsibility to calculate weather or not he will break even, fast click sellers will almost always fall for this TP tactic, while the ones that actually take the time and play the TP game are rewarded.

Working as intended I’d say.

Being a clicker doesn’t allways = suck in MMO. I could say with this logic…

All you hotkey users suck b/c you arn’t using Keybind Macros from a game profiler. Your DPS rotation is thus inconsistent and sluggish.

Hmm there’s one flaw in your example though

you see 1st we are all clickers, than we step up our game and masterfully use keybinds than after that you still want more precise and higher level gameplay so you use some macro’s to accomplish many tedious things all at once and have more time to execute complex combos and rotations.

Personally speaking to me anyone that uses a whole load of macro’s to play is not really a good player just a macro junkie, but hey that’s an entirely new subject that is filled with war and flames.

you could try and play a flight sim with a keyboard, but you wouldn’t demand they change the game because it is to hard for you to play it with a keyboard now would you?
it’d be silly right ? just get yourself a flight sim joystick am I right ?

In his case it’s even easier all he has to do is learn to keybind properly and use the mouse to turn instead of keyboard no money involved.

on a side note:

I’m a console player at heart so a D-pad for movement is the way to go, so I switched to a Nostromo and I couldn’t be happier for it and no I don’t use the macro system at all just the convenience of the D-pad makes a huge difference for me.

Two other things that cause me a lot of hassle and lessen my immersibility and enjoyment of the game:

1. Please add the ability to send mail to alts on the same account. This would allow me to have an “AH mule”, like in the other MMOs I play/have played, and free my main toon from wasting time finding bank and AH access (waaaay to hard to find in this game, btw) and allow him to just enjoy the game.

2. Adding the ability to send and receive mail from anywhere, thus eliminating the search for a mail box. was a stroke of genius. No clue why you didn’t do the same thing for bank access. It makes perfect sense and would greatly enhance player enjoyment and simplicity.

If all you want is a TP mule it’s easy to do if you pick the right city, in Divinity’s reach the bank and TP are just a step away from each other and there’s a waypoint right there to, so no need for mailing to alt characters just send to bank.

I don’t think we really see a need for a whole new trading system but I think the addition of a COD function to the current mail interface would take care of the scam issue.

NO adding a COD option to mail system is the same as making a direct player trading system, totally circumventing the TP and the normalized prices, also in most other mmo the AH is seldom used because if you can ask for whatever price you want in direct trade why would you use the TP or AH ?

No to direct player trading I say !

the systems are fine the way they are, sure the TP needs more filters and the ability to preview before you buy but most will agree it is the best trading post in any theme park mmorpg to date, the only TP that rivals it is probably eve but than again eve is a sandbox mmorpg.

Please enable trading between players without mandating the use of the mail system. It is a huge convenience to be able to trade between players, not to mention that if I were roaming around in a fantasy world as my character is, there is no real reason I couldn’t pick up some cool new piece of armor, look at it, and then hand it over to them to use.

Honestly a trade panel with the ability for both parties to add items would be very useful and appreciated.

Mail in this game is instantaneous, unlike other games where it takes 30 minutes for mail to arrive, from that POV your point about direct player trading is mute. what you want is a way to circumvent TP prices and scam people, or worse gold selling !

If truly all you wanted was to send someone a piece of gear for them to use, you wouldn’t be kittening about the mail system as it accomplishes that without a hitch.

so NO to direct player trading….!

the only thing missing is the COD option which ensures you get your money and good riddance it’s NOT in there, use the TP adhere to normalized prices or get out.

it’s not like you have to type the person’s name, all you have to do is right click and select mail same as you would with the trade option.

Most of your suggestions are great ones, except for:

- PVE match making system call it what you want but we all know what it is you’re asking for LFG tool that ports you to dungeons so NO.

- Dueling, I can see why but it does NOT fit the lore, so NO. Though I see no reason to not allow for it in the heart of the mist area only.

- Direct player trading, now that the Trading Post is fully operational I do NOT see the need for this anymore, it only serves to circumvent the TP prices and scam people, not to mention it will be molested by gold sellers.

- someone mentioned COD option for mails, same here applies to what I said about the TP, it will be misused and molested by scammers and gold sellers.

Letting us pick weaponskills without actually changing the core game.

I read your bold written suggestions, and these are options present in many crappy low quality F2P mmorpg ‘s Perfect World is specially funned of these lazyman’s tools.

Sure they are convenient alright in those bad games, but in a game like GW2 where balance and a level playing field is of utmost importance they become ludicrous and ridiculous.

Think about it for a second, I click on the ground my character starts to move so all my fingers are now free to activate abilities since there is no cool down I can now just hit you with all my abilities in a short time span because you do not have to worry about positioning and not one of your fingers is tied down by character movement, see how this totally breaks the level playing field now ?

you say, optional I say learn to play like the rest of us did, sure it will take some time to adapt and all but in the end you will be a much better player for it. Sorry if I come out a bit harsh it’s not my intention at all.

2nd tip,
Turning with the keyboard is slower than turning using the mouse, it don’t matter what mmorpg you have played before, name them all and in all of them keyboard turning is always slower than mouse turning.

Don’t try to adapt and ruin a near perfect game, adapt and perfect your play style 1st and if you still feel things are missing I’m sure most will agree with you than !

Hello to all,
I think GW2 makes the clickers life impossible. I always used to move my characters with WASD and I used the mouse to cast spells. This is not possible in GW2: you MUST move with the mouse when in combat, and sometime you need mouse and WASD! For that it is hard to cast on movement when you are not skilled or you have expansive game controllers.

I am ok with such a kind of system and I am trying to learn how to use it. Moreover I comprehend that GW2 character control system is part of game originality. But why you decided to limit so much the play-style? One or two optional features can enable new play-styles.

For example:
- when I bring the mouse pointer near the screen borders I would like to turn the camera in that direction.
- when I double click (or single click) a given mouse button on the ground or on a target I would like to auto-move toward that point.
- when my character auto-rotate in combat due to foes movement I would like to automatically keep camera behind him.

Precise movements are so hard in GW2. I am not responsive, I can not turn my char quickly. I feel controls so uneffective. I watched the game and I said “wow”. I bought it then I tried to play it and I said “wtf”! (sorry for the term, but it is the truth)

I think more optional features will make GW2 more usable by newbies (I never played GW1). The game will be more attractive for people who played other games for long time and it will not affect the current control system since new features can be optional.

I hope in some help and suggestions about the control system.

Being a clicker is not a play style in any mmorpg, if you are identified as a clicker in an mmorpg it means you still do not truly know how to play the game, not trying to be harsh or anything like that,

I was a clicker to when I 1st started playing mmorpg’s until I started doing PVP I used to always get my peep kicked all over the place, than I asked guildies what was the problem, I fought my guildies and they than asked me (you’re a clicker aren’t you ?) I said yes, is that a problem ? the answer was a resounding YES it is, it takes to much time to find and click an ability compared to knowing the keybind for it,

not to mention the movement issues it promotes, just like you’re having now.

It takes a while to adapt and learn specially if you haven’t played many consoles games fortunately for me I did play many so my training wasn’t that long, before I was the one kicking peep in PVP, and it also improved my PVE game by a mile.

Elementalist needs weapon switch skill

Why should other classes get the ability to switch weapons and elementalists don’t?

Because the ability to switch attunements already gives elementalists access to twenty weapon skills in combat, versus the baseline ten that is accomplished via weapon swapping. Forty would be a tad much.

That said, I don’t like how elementalists are basically stuck fighting at a particular range, while other classes can have melee for one weapon set and ranged for another, if they so choose. I don’t really know what a good solution is, though. I guess summoned weapons can fill that gap, but that doesn’t seem like the most elegant solution to me.

attunements do this range / melee for ele’s to mate, switch to air and you have short range melee like abilities specially if you have dagger / dagger combo.

Ele’s are fine the way they are use your attunements, just the same way engineers use their kits. these 2 classes have access to 20+ spells and abilities on a single weapon it would make it annoying to have 40+ abilities on 2 weapons and it would make it just like older generation mmo’s where you have bars upon bars of abilities you seldom ever use.

Also some of the skins are not that great for the high price, for example at lv 18 I got a musket drop from mob that was exactly the skin used for the lv60 tier 2 musket, of course at the time I didn’t know this and replaced it with my HoM rifle skin, in hindsight
I would’ve kept it and save me the karma just transmute it to a better weapon each time.

Make gathering tools account bound please

you do know you can buy those tools with karma instead of gold right ?
I thought they were account bound already, if not definitely needs to happen.

To me what is annoying is sometimes you are gathering and all of a sudden you don’t have a gathering tool equipped error message !

I keep wishing for an infinite gathering tool so I don’t have to keep thinking about (do i have enough gathering tools ?) before exiting town. So freaking annoying I don’t mind if you make it expensive but do implement an infinite gathering tool already pls.

In a big DE with mob zergs it is annoying to have to press loot for every single corpse out there, it’d be so much better to press the button once and loot all corpses in your vicinity.

Costs of Travel

My suggestion is to link the travel cost to specific zones not what level you are.
imagine taking the bus and being charged more the older you are
that is insane isn’t it ? well it’s the same thing.

Travel costs are not exactly broken but it is a bit strange that it is directly linked to ones level, i mean if it costs me 1s to travel around in a lv50-60 map that’s fine but it’s not ok to if I try to travel around in shaemoor and it charges me the same 1s…..!

This is another road block for higher levels to come back to lower level zones it may not seem that high a cost but think about this, it’s easy to make 1s or more in higher lv zones but not so much in lower level zones I wouldn’t waste my time porting there.

Player to player trading would make the TP obsolete and it would make it impossible to regulate prices, there would be no price history and anyone can ask for an item whatever they fee like it, no the only players that want this are the ones that feel that their items are worth a lot more and wish to circumvent the TP.

GW2 Trading Post is almost perfect, the game does NOT need direct trading between players, case dismissed.

The TP only needs, armor sub catagories by armor type and the ability to preview before you buy.

At the end of the instance when fighting the guardian of the gate, the Boss did no damage to me at all it was odd, than after coming out to speak with the avatar of the pale tree at the grove again to finish the quest it crashes, the most annoying thing is it doesn’t save my progress I have to do it all over again from scratch…..!
