I would still like to see this. I know there are dueling servers but I don’t think they quite fulfill the need (is it just me?).

Dueling is necessary for players to have a fair 1v1 battle with their friends without the inevitable 1v1 battle turns into a 3v1 battle ending in rage and exasperation. This also helps a player learn to fight specific classes and hone their skills in a fair environment.

PvE dueling is necessary because players shouldn’t have to go through 2 loading screens and a possible queue to duel with a friend real fast in the mists, then take another 2 loading screens to get back to PvE followed by a waypoint to get close to where they were adventuring before when they decided to have a quick duel.

I feel this feature would be really nice and possibly even introduce PvE players to PvP in a more fun and less frustrating way… among friends and not probably angry strangers.

For the millionth time NOOOOOOOOOOOO

You want dueling?

1- go to heart of the mists and do custom arenas 1v1.
2- I don’t mind them enabling dueling in heart of the mist.

Leave the PVE world alone !

Thanks to this VID-OP for giving us a perfect example of all that is wrong with stealth and chain stealth.

Also this is not just a sPVP problem, the problem is a lot more compounded in WvW as you can see in the video.

Now, a.net has a blueprint as to how to approach it, probably, maybe, finally fix this broken mechanic.

Or….

Maybe provide proper counterplay, just a thought.

While I would normally say “Yes, that’s an oversight”, sorry, Stability is way strong enough as-is. We really don’t need a Superior Stability, especially not on Warriors.

hmm I see, so it is ok for thieves to have OP stealth and OP sure stomp from stealth that cannot be stopped, it is ok for ele’s to have a sure stomp via mist form stomp.

but…..

asking for a skill to work like it should work is a big no no just because it is a warrior skill oh the irony.

Every time i go to bed at night I shed a few more tears for all those poor warriors and their attempts to beat those OP eles with all of their useless utilities. Perhaps someday this injustice will be fixed, but we can only hope.

LOL, I’m a warrior, run pain train warrior in WvW and yes balance stance is always on my bar as well.

I used death shroud as an example because it IS as you say an innate necromancer system, same thing is true for stances and yet we have one joke of a balance stance that is a mediocre version of what it should actually be.

Here’s why.

what is the definition of a stance?

  • it is suppose to be an innate warrior skill.

Every single stance has one thing in common:

  • they have a unique atrribute to them that cannot be cleansed corrupted or otherwise removed until it is over.

examples:

  • endure pain: immunity to direct damage for a short time.
    cannot be cleansed stripped or corrupted.
  • beserker stance: immunity to conditions for a short time.
    cannot be cleansed stripped or corrupted.
  • frenzy: all actions 50% faster for a short time.
    cannot be cleansed stripped or corrupted.

Now we come to the joke that is balanced stance

  • balanced stance: immunity to CC for a short time.
    can in fact be stripped, cleansed, corrupted, boon stripped, it is a joke of a stance

Am I the only one that sees this mistake and or oversight ?
Am I the only one that feels this is more a shout than a stance ?

let’s look at other classes and some examples of their innate abilities shall we ?

Elementalist

  • mist form: invulnerable for a short time.
    imagine if this could be stripped ? everyone would be up in arms and a lot of kitten and WTF’s

Necromancer

  • death shroud: 2nd health pool and damage dealing capability.
    imagine if when you pop death shroud someone could simply strip it from you ? oh the horror and the uproar on the forums.

Engineer

  • elixir S: shrink yourself and become invulnerable for a short time.
    imagine if this also could be stripped, corrupted or whatever oh the horror !

why do I want balanced stance to be made into what it should be ?

1 – it is suppose to be a stance not some cheap kitten boon as if it was a shout !
2 – it negates the mechanic it was made for.
3 – gives warriors one way to perform a safe stomp just as many other classes have one.
(stealth stomp, plague form stomp, mist form stomp anyone ?)

How come no warriors have noticed this oversight ?

Rally up warriors notice that one of your stances is a joke already will yah !

This needs to be changed a.net, if you believe in fairness and balance this needs your attention.

Whatever is going on with the dps numbers isn’t happening as Anet has explained it.

Thank you for noticing, this is also how I feel.
It is not the fact they nerfed it so hard that makes me mad (for lack of a better word)
it is the fact they are trying to pull the wolf over our eyes and hope we don’t notice.

And perhaps our math does not take into consideration all of the potential factors or scope of the issue. We cannot accurately determine that our math is actually correct as with some formulas that have been used it has been stated that they aren’t necessarily the correct calculations. Merely assumed to be.

Side note: It could be a simple bug too. It’s as easy as sticking a decimal in the wrong spot, and its not like typos don’t happen.

The evidence we have up to this point speaks for itself.

The reality is a whole lot more than 10%.

If you only think of trait provided critical damage than yeah sure it would look as if it is a mere 10% drop, and there lies the big LIE.

You see, if we use what they have said is the conversion rate 15:1 ratio than the following items have all seen a major nerf in critical damage.

Trinkets

  • Ascended amulet: was: 9% crit damage is now: 85 ferocity = 5.6% crit damage.
  • Ascended rings: was 8% rit damage, is now: 68 ferocity = 4.5% crit damage.
  • Ascended earrings: was 7% crit damage, is now 60 ferocity = 4% crit damage.
  • Banner of discipline: was 15% crit damage, is now 170 ferocity = 11.3% crit damage.

Weapons:

  • Ascended greatsword was 10% crit damage, is now 134 ferocity = 8.9% crit damage.
    (not gonna list all weapons, but all of them have seen a nerf)

Food:

  • Bowl of butternut squash was 8% crit damage, is now 60 ferocity = 4% crit damage.
    (not gonna list all food)

By now you can see a developing pattern,
I did not go over every single item and just from this sample you can see that it is by far a lot more than just a 10% drop.

10% nerf to crit ? in what universe is that true ?

People need to be aware they have been lied to in a big way, and that is the core of my issue with this change.

It is not the fact that you nerfed critical damage that sets me off and make me mad, it is the fact you lied to us in our faces about the percentages !

Things I wonder about:

Am I missing something ?
Am I not seeing the big picture ?
Why have they lied ?
did they really think no one knows basic math to not figure this out ?

the profession trainer in the divinity’s reach VIP area isn’t working properly instead of selling you the trait books it gives you only one option and that is to pay 70c to reset your traits.

last I heard was 15:1 ratio.
Also what about decimal amounts ? does it round upwards or downwards ?

Dev’s have said that the wardrobe will automatically pull all skins you have in your inventory.

My question is this:

  • Will it also pull those in your bank storage as well ?
  • Or do we have to get them into a character’s bag for it to pull automatically ?

I have been in many WvW guilds, not one of them has anything to help a player get up to speed.
Maybe that’s on your server – other servers aren’t anywhere near as ordered and helpful.

I wouldn’t call those guilds WvW specific than !
I’m in a PVX guild and they do have guides and 101’s for every aspect of the game be it pve, pvp or wvw.

ADVICE: Find yourself a decent respectable guild to join.

TIP: Stop guild hopping, build some trust and some loyalty it will take you far.

Stuns need diminishing returns.

hard CC counter = stability
immobilize counter = condition duration reduction or condition removal.

most people run either +40% condition duration for condi classes or…..
-40% condition duration for non condi classes.
on top of that melandru or hoelbrak runes also provide condition duration reduction.

your point is mute and void I’m afraid.
it may not be DR perse but it gets the same job done.

now go buy some of that food and some of those runes.

some classes also have innate reduction for specific conditions or hard CC look them up.

after april 15th patch players will not get trait points until they reach level 30.
How are new players and low level players going to be able to run AC story mode or explore mode ?

Think about it,

Even now running this dungeon with 20 trait points is hard for some casuals, imagine what will happen when they have to run it without any trait points whatsoever.

Is this a disaster waiting to happen ?

will we see some more dungeon nerfs to compensate for this no traits at level 30 ?

I for one do not wish to see dungeons nerfed any further, they are mind numbingly easy as it is.

  • The PVE world doesn’t need mounts, there is never a WP to far away from where you want to be. The community as a whole doesn’t like mounts even if just cosmetic (personally if it is just a cosmetic mount I don’t see the harm)
  • WvW on the other hand could use mounts with a 50% speed increase, but then I would also say remove all but spawn WP for all maps and servers in WvW.

Can I ask what you perceive as a bigger problem; giving rewards to those who may not deserve them, or giving no rewards to those who do?

It’s like asking which is worse; letting a criminal go free or convicting an innocent, and I personally agree with the latter.

I say decide what rewards are appropriate, put them in place, and as you start to see the ways in which it can be abused you will much more effectively be able to tweak it to prevent said abuses.

Unfortunately that runs the risk of closing the barn door after the horse gets out. The economy is not something we like to take those sorts of risks on and we wouldn’t be adding rewards until we are more certain of their effects on all of the game.

  • create a siege type scouting bunker that needs to be build for the scout to sit in, while giving them something to do to prevent afk exploiting (siege refreshing for example). This would also have the added benefit of commanders being able to kick non scouts of the siege.
  • the scout could also be designated by the commander using a commander ability let’s call it scout promotion this would mean only these people would be able to use and benefit from the scout reward system while inside the scouting bunker.

just my 2 cents on the matter.

I wish to heck there was a way for everyone to have a WvW 101

  • Many WvW communities do have extensive WvW 101 guides, manuals, do’s and don’t.
  • Another reason for the lack of certain types of info about WvW is because certain servers have what they believe to be unique strategies that noone else knows about, and obviously sharing those is a big no no to them

All I can say is find yourself a good WvW guild, join them play and learn.
if at 1st you don’t succeed, try again.

there used to be an option many months ago either in WvW or sPVP I’m not sure anymore where after you stomp an enemy player there was a new option to force respawn him.

this is the feature we need in WvW to stop defeated spies from being able to report numbers and location and to stop mass ressing

- I like running dungeons but…I don’t like spending 45 minutes in a dungeon I could run in 10 minutes with my warrior, ele or guardian.
- it is annoying to try and find decent parties to run low level characters with in dungeons and such runs take forever…..
- I don’t like running inefficient classes in dungeons but some of those classes are actually pretty good at other game types aka WvW.

People already get around this. How? They ask if someone else is willing to open the dungeon, and at the very end of the run, HOLD the cutscene so that you can switch to the character you want the experience on. If they arent, drop group and try again, or run with friends.

I know this exists but….

I hate character switching like this with a passion
so many runs ruined by kittens that do not know they cannot switch at the end if they started the instance, so many parties that do not manage to finish the boss while I was loading and wipe :S grrrrr

this item would save me from all that grieve

And as the internet meme goes… “You’re doing it wrong.” You dont switch at the boss. You switch in the time between the boss dying and the cutscene starting. Much less prone to failure unless someone forgets to hold the cutscene. Also, it still validates my point of running the dungeon with friends.

Half a million XP isn’t all that much for a level 80. According to the wiki a level 80 needs 4,860,359 xp to level up. IMO it shouldn’t let you level down, but will take all the XP you have on hand (run a dungeon for 70% XP, use orb, buy orb, run a dungeon to get 70% use orb, buy orb).

the 4 million is cumulative throughout your way from level 1 to level 80.
at level 80 you only need 254.000 exp to gain a level but as Wanze.8410 pointed out
500.000 exp is the equivalent of levels 1 to 40.

this new idea just came to me now

How about an item that allows me to convert 254.000 exp into a tome of knowledge ?

that would solve the gaining 40 levels in one go and allows me to run the dungeons with my favorite toon while still allowing me to level my alt without all the kittenty of swapping at the end and all the mishap that it entails.

Too easily exploitable due to the different amounts of exp needed and gained per level.

To gain 500k exp at lvl 80, you need to lvl twice but those 500k exp would catapult a new character to lvl 40.

That would also mean, i gain 40 skillpoints instead of 2.

you people seem to not understand how this works at all.

- Basically the character you activate this on would not gain experience itself and thus would not gain skill points either, as long as the orb is active that is. once the orb is no longer active the character would gain experience and skill points normally again.
- this has nothing to do with previously acquired skill points or world completion or any of that.

let me give you an example, that might clear things up a bit and make it easier to understand

- make an LFG for a speedrun of say AC, TA, CoF, SE, CoE and so on.
- equip the orb on my warrior, run the dungeons and gather all the experience acquired into it.
- lock the orb put it in my bank, switch characters and use the orb on my low level alt,
voila, this character gains all of the experience and skill points my warrior would’ve earned.
- once the orb is unequipped my warrior continues to gain experience and skill points as usual.

what is it?

- this item when activated will gather all experience gained by the character it is on to a maximum of 500.000 exp points.
- you can right click the orb buff at any particular amount and lock it down for transfer.
- once the orb is locked down it can be transferred to any of your characters, this character will gain all of the experience points in the orb. the orb is destroyed in the process

We’ve been discussing this a lot recently and we agree that something needs to change. When we have a change that we are ready to talk about we’ll make sure to make it known to everyone.

Finally after so many posts made by so many people for such a long time (me included)
we finally have an official response.

Also, it is not just the warrior banner that can res, be sure to check all other res skills from guards, mesmers eles and so on.

Here’s the rub: Every stance we use contains an innate “stance” property. Meaning, it’s not a boon. If we pop Endure Pain, there’s nothing that nulls / steals / removes that ability until the timer’s up. Every other stance does this (even Shield Stance even though it’s not a stance) but Balanced Stance is a cop-out. It gives us a Stability boon which, as everyone in here should know by now, can be stripped or stolen at any time once it’s cast. So why this particular stance? Why doesn’t balanced stance have its own innate ability? It makes no sense when compared to other stances.

good to know I’m not the only one that noticed this invisible nerf.
balanced stance w/o an innate property is just a cheap shout.
they should make it a proper stance or make it into shout, the way it is now is just not worthy of being called a stance.

If it were to work the same as other stances the duration of the ability would be 5-8 seconds. For stability it wouldn’t be worth it for such a short duration.

I would rather have the longer duration and risk the boon being removed/corrupted.

I would rather have the shorter duration if it was a true stance and could NOT be stripped corrupted

what good is it to pop balanced stance just to have it stripped or corrupted after 2 seconds by a necro, mesmer or thief ?

see the shorter duration is not the main issue here, it’s the fact it is not a stance, it is just a corruptible boon !

What I mean is look at endure pain, it is a proper stance it cannot be cleanse and or corrupted as it is not a boon, it is a stance.

on the other side of the spectrum we have balanced stance which is just a boon, which is corruptible and or removable.

Shouldn’t balance stance also be a true stance and not some cheap corruptible boon ?

I believe capes are the legendary back item and that we won’t see them implemented before anet decides to release it.

if this is true it would be the only legendary item i would pursue, provided there was no stinking RNG attached to it.

After watching the S2 BG promo video, I find myself screaming what is dead may never die whenever I charge with my warrior.

  • Doors should only be damaged by rams and ballista.
  • Walls should only be damaged by cats and trebs.
  • 25% price reduction on siege equipment.
  • if for some technical reason structures cannot be made immune to player damage, reduce damage taken from players to 1 dmg.

so easy it’s kind of a facepalm it is not already as such right now in WvW.

Doors being damaged by ballistas? No.

Besides, if they are able to PvDoor your gate down then you either haven’t built enough defensive siege or haven’t bothered manning it.

LOL did you notice where I play ?
I’m on Beast Gate, I have no problem defending doors against these pvders, it’s actually funny to see them run away just to be crushed by incoming defense forces.

Does that mean I do not recognize when something is broken or doesn’t work like it should be ? of course NOT

pvdoor is unrealistic and takes away from the immersion of the game.
