this is a temporary 2 week event and you’re complaining of to much loot ? come on be serious now. I did 3 runs and got jack ! I started asking around and no one got any bags from the knights ! are you happy now ?

and why did she had to open a hole for this dragon in LA, Kryta, if the thing is in Maguuma? Let me guess, just ’coz it is funnier to destroy the main city of the game even if there is no logic at all?

La was where the epicenter of the laylines resided.
that alone makes it clear why she chose that location.

What if…

The Sylvari are to Mordremoth as the Undead are to Zhaitan or like the Branded are to Kralkatorrik…

And the Pale Tree… is being used as a sort of… mind-control nulling entity

And that is why the Sylvari are so curious about the world around them…. cause their minds are unlocked and they have their freedom…

But arn’t aware of it… like a dark secret…

Hmm, interesting but I don’t think A.net would make the pale tree sylvari evil they are a playable race of heroes after all.

What is more likely is that the pale tree and the dream protects the dream sylvari from mordremoth, while the nightmare court is an NPC off shoot faction and can be made into the minion class for mordremoth.

Now that he is awake the nightmare court will be completely under mordremoth’s control.

Mordremoth.

I just have to wonder how Colin thought this was a “one in a million” prediction.

As resident Colin, I said this back when the world thought it was Primordus or a time travel story line, as more clues came out the theories got MUCH more correct, by mid-february the correct theories were certainly far more plentiful. Also the one in 10-20K number was about the entire story in the final 2 releases, not just one specific part of the ending. Only a couple of folks correctly guessed LA getting nuked before we gave any of the hints for example.

Above all else, I just want to say how much fun it has been watching everyone theorize over the last few months. It’s one of the coolest parts of the living world experience to me. Where it goes from here….well you’ll just have to wait to find out!

She woke a dragon, does this mean we getting a new elder dragon to fight ?
if so, can we expect the same pew pew as zhaitan or are we actually gonna be allowed to fight the dragon this time ?

old game classic contra comes to mind, that last lair seems kinda like you’re fighting the boss from the inside out (hint, hint) notice also how there is no boss life bar at all instead you had to watch the boss’s animations to figure out if you were close to killing it or not, that right there was way ahead of it’s time for sure.

One of my favorite all time classics for sure

How about making it account wide just like everything else in the game that is headed in that direction anyway.

I say once you have obtained dungeon master title, I should not need to bother remembering which toon has done what anymore !!!

one of the title’s perk should be to allow any character you have to open any dungeon instance you wish to open, that alone would make the title actually worthwhile.

For example I started my journey on an EU server at launch but I moved to the caribbean some time ago so a transferred to a NA server, it would be great if that freedom of choice was still viable for everyone no matter where they are originally from.

it would also be awesome if I could choose to play in CN but keep my client in english or any other language I choose to play in, it’s fun sometimes to swap the language and listen to how another actor personifies characters we know and love.

Ooh, I’m a fan girl of zerker speedrun. And I do hope that this random mix-up never exists so I can safely avoid people who try to get into my group but do not meet my lfg’s requirement. How ironic!

I call this ^^ the sweet freedom of choice

if god forbid, they ever did implement something like the OP suggests than I also present the motion to implement a medal system, that needs to be earned before you can be matched with others randomly.

- Bronze: poor dps, no synergy, unbalanced build.
- Silver: moderate dps, some synergy, hybrid build.
- Gold: decent dps, decent synergy, decent build.
- Platinum: strong dps, strong synergy, specialized build.

before you can apply for a group in random LFG you’d need to earn one of these medals and would only be matched with people that have earned such medal.

this would be like a test of how good you can actually handle yourself and NOT be a hindrance to your team.

This is a new system some other game is implementing and I thought to myself this would solve so many issues in the gw2 dungeon community right this moment

Can someone please post some videos of these no-skip/any class/any build dungeon runs? I would love to see a 1 hour CoF P1 run.

This is an AC Tzark’s path dungeon video I made not so long after launch, it took at least 40 minutes to finish the dungeon and I would never run it like this ever again. remember this is from a time when AC used to take 2.5 hours to run it so the 40 minute run was actually pretty good at that time

This video kinda makes it clear why people skip why it is intended gameplay and why skipping kohler is fine, he is an optional boss people you do not need to kill him to finish the dungeon.

-Would you join a guild exclusively for Legit dungeon runs?
-All bosses would be fought as intended.

If I wanna skip that’s my choice as intended

-Good group cohesion, of skill, but not meta groups.

A wish: Cutscenes in Living Story

Latinkuro.9420

We are at the beginning stages of overhauling our cinematic tools. It’s still very early on, so you wont see anything big for quite some time…In the meantime, you should see a gradual improvement in the quality of cut-scenes as the cinematic and writing team strengthen our collaboration efforts.

I should add that custom animations take up a substantial amount of dev resources that aren’t dedicated to cinematics.

The GW1 cinematics team was created for machinama and traditional 3D animation…whereas the GW2 team was built around animating concept art (motion graphics work)

The cinematics that you see in the personal story where 2 characters talk to each other on a stage-like environment have been…retired.

Cinematics/cut-scenes are an important part of our game. We are constantly striving to make them better and push the limits of our current tools in the process.

is this change just for newly developed content, or do you plan to update the old personal story cinematics as well ?
what about dungeon cinematics ?

That would probably also include less time gating, maybe a bit higher drop rates… You name it!

In short, you get a full service for $10 a month. I’d say if the game’s good, I’d pay that money.

Clone Wars 2 or Why Meta Builds are for Sheep

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

i said they were designed with those builds in mind, what does that mean exactly ?
well, it means that in order for them to create hard challenging content they have to take into consideration that the community knows what works best atm within the confines of the current game mechanics, as such to make hard content means atm making something that even by meta standards would be challenging !

Do I think they designed these for me ? NO
Do I think they want to exclude people playing other builds ? NO

But, the reality is very different from what they hoped it would be, by taking these meta builds into consideration they pretty much alienated any and all that are not willing or able to run their classes respective meta build vor condi damage or beserker.

if they had not taken meta builds into consideration the content would be in the easy to steam roll category and it would not be considered hard content much less RAID level content.

Players Against Stacking/Skipping/Stuff

Posted by: Latinkuro.9420

Latinkuro.9420

This is a common theme for people new to dungeons. Once you run them hundreds of times, you will quickly see why we stack/skip. But some skips are fun, like the Arah runs. And some bosses are actually fun, like ol’ Lupi <3

This

I PASSS. Come back to the discussion when the OP run a few more dungeons (outside AC and CoF).

This

Tired of not actually playing the game when you run dungeons with pugs? Tired of skipping half of the dungeon? Tired of exploits? Tired of gameplay that has been dumbed down to dodge rolling into walls and spamming 1? Honestly, it seems that, as a result of all of the efficiency-oriented dungeon metagames and champ zerging, most of the community has forgotten how to actually play.

That’s a nice offer, but I think you are having some misconceptions about our skill levels. And I’m quite certain that speedrun tactics are the result of repeatedly doing dungeons and learning every detail of the encounters. Efficient, yes, but we most certainly have not forgotten how to play, we just want to avoid wasting time and repair fees.

But that doesn’t matter. We play how we want. Good luck. :>

This

Hey I am all for playing however you want to play buddy! You want to not stack or skip anything that is fine by me…..but when you join my LFG post that says EXP LvL 80 Speed Run….don’t complain that we are stacking or skipping. Make your own post!

And last but not least this

I pug 90% of my dungeon runs for all the easy ones: AC, CoF, SE and TA mostly.
I have the get in get out mentality, tbh you can spot a fast run from the very 1st encounter.

- group cohesion, most of the time I have no problem pugging these dungeons and hardly anything needs to be said or explained.

- though yes sometimes there is someone messing up the run aggroing stuff that doesn’t need to be killed and gets replaced very quickly.

- punishing to melee players you say
the only time I play range is when it is absolutely not a good idea to melee, other than that I love to get close and personal with my foe and bash his head in with either my greatsword or my hammer.

EDIT:
My only regret is that I still do not own a legendary weapon

All NA servers are very high pop?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Latinkuro.9420

Latinkuro.9420

Those population levels are NOT that of the active population. The Very High to Full is an indication of how many people have selected that world as their home world.

So even the player who bought GW2 and only played it for one day and will never play again is counted.

hahahahahahahahahahahahah
this made me laugh so hard because it is so kittenty for lack of a better word

come on use your brain for a bit.
server population is about currently logged on players not about who has ever created an account on a particular server.

think about it, BG and the likes have always been a very high pop server and NA had maybe 5 servers on high. now all of a sudden after the Wurm update Bg is always on full and you’d be hard pressed to find any NA server on lower than very high.

just because you do not see players in the same area you are in doesn’t mean the server is baron, have you looked at how freaking big the gw2 world map is lately ?

Server status has always been about current players NOT about how many accounts are created.

I would like to know who started this BS rumor so I can smack him around and give him some more grey matter to up his IQ a bit, maybe than he’d be up to par with average intelligent human beings.

It’s one thing to hate on the success of the game but, this rumor / misinformation is just low blow scumbaggadery.

Until I stop getting booted from my home server to overflow where you stand an exponentially lower chance of success due to 1. lowered coordination or 2. simply an inability to achieve numbers. I would prefer some of the events moved to instances or a server priority code put in place.

If I’m on my home server; I should have priority for events on that server and non-grouped people guesting over should be punted to overflow.

I loved the idea of open world Raiding, I was utterly excited by it till….
I couldn’t get onto my home server’s bloodtide coast map for 3 days straight
add to that the random disconnects and no priority for home players and I was screaming for instanced Raiding the reasons why every other game does instanced large scale group content became fairly obvious at that point.

The most skilled content of difficult games is done by a vast minority of players. Why put time and effort into something for 5 or 10 %?

- because even though they are indeed the minority, they also deserve to be catered to from time to time.
- they may be the minority, but they also help identify what is overpowered and what is underpowered.
- they are the one the ones the general player base looks to for builds, guides etc.
so you see that 5-10% of the population may be a minority but they are needed.
- 2 updates out of 20+ in a year for targeting them seems to me like a very good compromise.

if they can do it, I’m sure a.net can do it to, it’s just a matter of time before they learn.

I’m not saying those games do it perfectly but some of those vindictus encounters are absolutely amazing, and there are no red circles to tell you where and when it will land more skill play.

QoL improvement - Keybind consumables?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Latinkuro.9420

Latinkuro.9420

If I remember correctly, Colin said they (Anet) are avoiding adding a keybind for consumables because they fear it makes players feel forced to use them. Respectfully, I disagree since I rarely use consumables in open world at level 80 simply because I hate having to open my inventory, searching for the right consumable, and then double clicking it.

Just like the OP, I would love to have a keybind for consumables. Something along the lines of using the " – " and the " = " keys right next to the “0” key seems to make sense as default keybinds.

If they didn’t want people using them why make power increasing consumables in the 1st place
oh the irony, you made them and they are a must for certain parts of the game now provide us with keybinds please.

The metabolic primer was a great idea ! (sarcasm)
this is the wrong way to increase consumables duration !
Here’s a brain dead idea, allow the consumable duration to stack just like your precious boosters do stack duration

I agree with everything but your last point. THat is to say, I think encounters can be designed to cater to both groups of players…but I also think it will take time for that to occur.

The key word here is encounter

open world, dungeon encounters should be designed for just about every one to be able to beat them so designing it for min/max players is a bad idea.

the problem is raid boss encounters, cannot be designed for any subpar or inefficient build
here’s why:

- the very definition of Raiding brings up the mentality of extremely difficult content.
- if a subpar build can beat it than it would be considered to easy for any min/max player.
this is why meta’s exist and keep changing as things get nerffed or buffed aka fotm
- anything your class can do some other class can do it better, why would you bring say a tank spec warrior when a guardian can do it so much better ?
why would you bring a condition spec ranger when a necro or engineer can do it so much better ? these are just examples please don’t take them to literal.

Latinkuro.9420

@ Vayne hmmm, the main culprit here is the word “meta” if they change the “meta” to include other builds besides DPS focused builds that’s the day when open world raiding will succeed.

In this game it’s called meta. In other games it’s called FotM. It happens in every game. I agree, 100% there needs to be more build variety. But they have, to some degree, already started addressing that.

So in the Tequatl fight, zerkers are pretty useless. He can’t be hit by crits. In the wurm fight, you need people with condition damage, because conditions do more damage to the husks.

It’s a learning process, and it’s taking time, because each major encounter takes so long to develop. But that doesn’t mean they’re not moving toward it.

That said, even if they do include other builds, those builds will also have meta and efficiency factors, in that light I do not see why you do not agree with the fact efficiency and meta mentality will always be a part of this sort of content.

Think about it, if all of a sudden tanking became viable
would you bring a subpar tank ? or would you bring a meta tank focused on efficiency?

see, the efficiency and meta mentality just doesn’t go away no matter what kind of builds are included into the meta game.

come on Vayne, I expect you of all people to understand percentages as a form of saying the majority, if I had concrete numbers I would submit data sources, seriously !

I think you and I are on the same page with some minor miscommunication issues here and there.

yes many people do not know how to play the game or do not want to get better because all they want is to have “fun”
“Fun” is a very subjective word and means something different to every single individual on earth.

the point I want to bring forward is this:
- If the majority of the game is made for casuals why the outcry about 2 pieces of content implemented to keep the more efficiency/hardcore focused players happy ?
- don’t they deserve to have their needs met some of the time ?
- in a whole year there have been 2 difficulty revamps out of all the biweekly updates that have been released over the past year and half.

- to me it is very simple, you want to participate in Raid level Boss fights you need to know and understand you have to bring your A game aka meta build and efficiency mentality.

- even the Dev’s are aware not everyone will clear this content, it is there for that 2% that is willing to go the extra mile and play the current meta game to the extreme.

- like I said there are numerous Boss and dungeon encounters in the game for which you can bring any kittenamamie build you want and still be able to succeed !
- there is a big difference between participation and contribution !
- a participant does not necessarily contribute, while a contributor is both a participant and a contributor.
- participant can be anyone present no matter how skilled or unskilled they are no matter whether they are hurting the group’s chances with an inefficient build or not.
- contributor, brings his A game and meta mentality, many here say I don’t wanna be pressured into meta mentality, I say well then why do you wanna join a Raid difficulty level content clearly designed and targeted at the 2% of the population that has the meta mentality.
- if it was designed for any build no matter how inefficient it would not qualify as Raid level content, it would be to easy to beat using the so much hated meta builds !

EDIT:
I’m not talking about the marionnette here, that kitten is just easy but it does have some implementation issues. I’m talking about the triple threat wurm Boss fight specifically.

Open raid content doesn't work!

Please, ArenaNet, do not make large-scale ‘raid-type’ content instanced. I prefer it the way it is. Thank you.

- I to said that before these raid level fights were implemented, now I say make the kitten thing instanced, it’s obvious open world raiding was and is a terrible idea.

I’m against instanced content too. It leads to elitism. It leads to problems.

You must have seen the threads of people who only want zerkers, only want this build only what that build.
This game was designed so people could play different builds. Some types of players, rangers, necros, engies, have trouble getting invited to groups. But in open world content, they can play what they want and still participate.
This is much better for me than being dictated to by the current meta exactly how I should play the game.
There are plenty of games for people to play instanced raids. I sure hope this won’t be another one of them.

- Thank you for making my point ! (bold text)
these bosses are meant for people that know the game in and out and know their class in and out.
- If your goal is simply to participate there are numerous other world bosses out there below raid level difficulty for you to go and participate in.
- If you wanna contribute then by all means bring your A game which in gw2 means bring the most efficient build possible
- if you wanna play whatever build you like no matter how inefficient it is then why do you want to join a raid ? Raid definition, bring your A game or you will not come out victorious !
- Do you honestly think you can go into a raid with a crappy build and still beat it ? if you think yes you obviously do not understand the concept of what raiding is about !
- I’m gonna stop here cause this kitten is so obvious to anyone with 2 brain cells it’s making me mad.

I’m not usually big on story in mmo’s but….
this last LS story arc was done properly, the story is fleshed out the VO is emotionally engaging and feels naturally spoken without odd cut off points.

There is more to it than just clicking next, and even some of the written story has VO in it.

I particularly like the way Scarlet’s journal was done.
not to spoil anything but those intentional typo’s totally got me by surprise, I had to take a second look to figure out what was going on.

if the goal was to make me curious and wonder what happens next, well with this LS installment you finally nailed it.

keep up the good work a.net.

I’m not advocating for traditional raiding at all, as a matter of fact I hate traditional raiding ! but……whatever shape or form it does need to be instanced !
those games you waiting for I know them well, and they all suck big time !

Raiding GW2 style

- Raiding requires control, communication, and team work it is not something you do in the open world.
- in the open world you can never truly control or know who is doing what, where and the simple fact it is open world means there will always be someone present that is not willing to follow commands, or just wants to do his own thing regardless of the consequences to the group’s organizational purposes.

- GW2’s version of raiding looks like a lot of fun if:

- you could buy an in-game item that grants you the ability to create and password protect your own overflow in essence creating an instanced version of the map.
- this allows for all the intricate organizational needs of true raiding to be met.
- now that is a consumable I’d want.
- consumable description, for the next 24 hours you can choose a Raid Boss map and create a password protected version of it for you and your team of raiders.
