why would you run AC in clerics?

Can someone explain to me why a level 80 warrior would need to run a level 35 dungeon in clerics? I was doing AC p1, which is pretty easy IMO, and was in a PUG with all warriors, but I was 1 of 2 running full zerk. The other one said they needed to swap out theirs for valk gear cause they kept dying…Please explain why you would use clerics gear. The guy with 25 stacks has 25 stacks of HEALING!! WTKitten?!

I only run a guardian in full magi gear when it is late and it becomes time consuming to find decent players for dungeons, when that happens I switch to my magi gear and party with the terribads to keep them alive while they try their best :P

Builds Templates when ?

I do not presume to know how they will do it
but stats will probably not stay the same as we know them today, otherwise pvp/pve gear unification wouldn’t be possible.
Furthermore, what makes me think something like removing stats from gear will happen is the fact they seem to want to make the pvp closet global for pve/pvp in which case all gear would essentially have to be just a skin you put into the wardrobe.

this idea just hit me

The stats could simply be a drop down menu that let’s you select any stat combo you have previously crafted, and so in effect you would craft the skin and the stats separately.

equip any skin you like best with the stats you like best, the best marriage of great looks and functional stats

EDIT

Even better still, have 2 separate tabs inside the hero panel.
1 for how you want to look that doesn’t have anything to do with your stats.
1 for your stats alone that is not tied to your looks what so ever.

this way, people cannot get mad because stats were removed from gear as they were simply moved not removed.

and we get true gear unification.
which in turn makes it easier for a.net to develop universal build templates.

both worlds win, and everybody is happy.

Hmm, guess you guys don’t keep up with gw2 development much….
they already said they will be unifying all gear for one, their won’t be pvp/pve gear anymore, the way they make it sound, gear will probably not have stats anymore !

that’s when a template system comes into full fruition imo.

and even without the gear unification it is still possible,
I’m looking at you draco nay sayer !

yes some stats are tied to gear but seriously now, come on you can swap for example to your WvW set as long as you’re o.o.c the problem is always that you’d have to go to a retrainer and spent the time setting up your traits it’s a bit more time consuming than swapping armor !

if, I had templates saved up a quick build swap would look like this for me.

1 – open hero panel and load setup for WvW 0/20/30/20/0
2 – open inventory or hero panel and swap armor and weapons to WvW set.
3 – Die invaders, here’s my hammer now eat it ! eat it !

and let’s not forget those niche specialized builds most of us have for specific encounters,
it would be awesome to load up an entire trait setup inside a dungeon for a specific Boss fight, for example.

You know,
I used to play a game where the community kept asking for build templates all the time
and guess what happened ?

They implemented them in about 3-4 months time.

I’m trying to be more aware of how I phrase things to avoid those annoying infractions !

The community has asked for build templates for the better part of a year now
can we get some kind of update as to how that is going ?

with each ascended trinket there was a 1% crit dmg increase per item !
ascended armor has 1% increase on 1 item only, all the others are the same as exotics in terms of crit dmg !
I feel cheated !

where is my 1% crit dmg per item increase on ascended armor ?

gw1 vets like to brag about how gw1 didn’t have a grind, that is a straight up lie !
- it didn’t have a stat grind
- it did have a grind for looks !

here’s why

anyone that wanted one of the elite armor sets aka gw1 version of ascended armor
needed to grind a lot of very rare, very high priced materials that took months to acquire.

want a vabbian, obsidian or ancient armor set ?

Don’t let the small sample number fool you those were high end materials that were hard to get back in the hey day of gw1 !

so in conclusion:
- was there a stat grind in gw1 ? no

The Real WvW’ders vs Casual WvW’ders kerfuffle

- The self proclaimed real WvW players say rewards don’t matter it’s enough for me kill players that’s how I have fun, the chest is just icing on the cake.
- The casual WvW players wanna see some proper rewards for time spent, killing is fun but getting properly rewarded adds more fun.

- I could also claim a real WvW player is the one that plays for objectives and ppt to benefit his server and achieve the win, not just for his own selfish needs.
- Those that play just for fights are selfish don’t care about their server and actually hurt their server, it’s a win the fight lose the war scenario for them.
they don’t care about server win or lose, all they care about is their tunnel vision fights, never looking at the bigger picture.

But I don’t say that because I understand there are different kinds of WvW players !

If killing players in PVP was all the fun you needed A.net wouldn’t be changing sPVP so drastically to provide the PVP scene with some much needed proper rewards !
stop making excuses and stop diluding yourselves thinking that not wanting proper rewards for your time spent makes you a real WvW player it doesn’t, it makes you a hypocrite.

hmmm from 400 you can refine T6 mats like ori, gossamer and leather to get to 420 ish.
so your numbers might be a bit off, also remember that at 450 you can start crafting
ascended components, while the ascended armor itself can only be crafted once you reach 500.

S1 finisher conspiracy theory

This just occurred to me but what if….

- the permanent version of the season 1 dolyak finisher was available for purchase but only to those that have the limited version of it.

- or purchase an item in the gem store that would convert the limited version into a permanent version but only for the season, you would have to earn the right to keep using it by winning season 2.

My real problem with this finisher is:

- it shouldn’t be limited and it shouldn’t be unlimited either !
- it should simply be there for me till season 2 starts and you have to earn it again.
- gives you something to fight over for next season.

there’s no doubt that gw2 is a different beast than gw1 was but…
to say there’s no strategy and such that is just not true, problem is you’re expecting the same kind of strategies used in gw1 that is the problem right there.

Like someone else said, fun and proper rewards do not need to be mutually exclusive !
smashing my hammer in my enemy’s face and making him eat it is a lot of fun, getting properly rewarded for doing so for 7 weeks adds wait for it more fun and a sense of accomplishment !

I for one will continue to WvW and making my enemies eat my hammer but…..
I would be crazy to become a purist WvW only player with such poor rewards !!!

I will still go to PVE for fractals / dungeons and world bosses to get my fat loot
and scratch my urge to kill people in WvW

Using a lv 21 character to do LA JPs often give Silver Doubloons. You should consider keeping a low level just for this purpose. Great moneymaker for you, or a way to farm SDs for your Juggernaut.

yeah except they don’t drop as often even on a lv 22 character I have mine parked in the pirates JP for weeks now and haven’t seen a single SD drop EVER !

they should just add the kitten transmog recipe to jeweler and be done with it !

These quotes say it all !

Winners will have access to the finisher until there are new winners. At that point those people will gain access and the winners from the previous season will no longer have access to the stomp.

Think of it like this, the finisher is intended to show off who won the last season. If you don’t continue to win each and every season, you will not retain the bragging rights.

Huh? This is not temp content. This in character with any number of rewards that are about showing off what happened recently. You will be showing off that you won the previous season, but once a new season starts everyone is back to start. Having the reward for a limited period of time is very different from temp content.

- So what happened ?
- why is the finisher now limited to 250 charges instead of being available till S2 start ?
- Or, will it give me more stacks once I use them all and keep giving me stacks till S2 starts ?

Some clarification is needed about this soon !

When a weapon is drawn or when running have the cape foldup over the shoulder, freeing up the arm.

nice pics keep them coming, I’m excited and maybe a.net will get excited by them to and start secretly working on capes (if they are not already) I seem to remember there was a mention of some group at a.net working on this cape issue but it wasn’t an official project more like something they were doing on their own time.

1st major expansion lore announcement.

- I get proper rewards from PVE / Dungeons / Fractals. uh, shiny, gotta get the shinies need more shinies

I have said a lot lately about the rewards and stuff but this one is a valid remark that most WvW players should feel robbed, betrayed and downright cheated to put it mildly.

The S1 finisher should be valid till season 2 starts, so you gotta prove again that you are number one, and hold on to your status !

Now that is a reward I would call fitting !
I’m not talking about the capes themselves so please don’t even go there,
I’m talking about how they worked in principle.
the gold, silver, bronze cape trim remained until the announcement of the next season

looking at gw1 we know they can do proper PVP rewards !
so why than is this not the case in gw2 ?
maybe bring back some of the dev’s that actually worked on gw1 reward systems
they seem to get what the player base really cares about in terms of PVP.

I loved the idea of WvW leagues and even if they would’ve said the end reward is ONLY the finisher I’d still be in there killing invaders left and right, specially JQ and SoR invaders !

but this chest is a slap to the face and a kick in the pants in terms of time investment vs reward !

- they should make a japanese style dogeza video of the whole studio apologizing for the dropping the ball so hard !

WvW leagues is DEAD !
you don’t even get to keep the finisher you earned till league season 2 starts !
at least that would’ve sparked some reason to keep winning leagues !

This is a good idea but another solution is for Anet to make an easy difficulty for ppl that want to solo dungeons and they can also do the same for fractals.

solo mode dungeons sounds really interesting I like it a lot

Player name, Accname, email and also the password.

If this e-mail then also right?

Because I never thought that Anet in e-mails asking for passwords

a.net would never need to ask for account info or password

they only do that AR check on the last bonus fractal, and tbh I’d want it for every boss encounter in the fractals if it was up to me, it would help keep those pesky liars that slip in by lying about how much AR they have out of my runs for good.

it’s the only place in the game that has gear check so leave it alone !
if it was up to me I would add gear score or AR check to normal dungeons as well.

if you do not have the minimum gear / AR to do the content well sorry but GTFO of my group PERIOD !

no, we have enough issues with queue w/o adding in all the people that would go in to spectate and take up precious slots away from wuv players.

not to mention that even with a delay the information on troop movement can be easily predicted and reported, patterns would emerge.

why ? if you server strong you win , if weak you lose, no kittenty randome, politics, doubleteaming and other ? its pure sport.
And no one hide behinde strong server. All resolve in pure one match.
Only bandwagoners and gloryhunters want 1 vs 1 vs 1 because they can trade you kitten for better situations. 1 vs 1 denied this. only pure fight and only real stats

hmmm you forget, it can also works the other way around it’s just that not many servers try it that way. the 2 weak servers take on the 1 strong server and in so doing even the odds and beat the stronger server.

just requiring you to be out of combat to res a finished player would be enough and would make a huge difference imo.

^^ This, and also I seem to remember at some point there was a force respawn option for dead player bodies on (F) just like stomp but for dead players. that was golden, because even if you kill them they can still report enemy troop movement.
can’t remember if this was in sPVP or WvW

I wonder why they removed it ?
this would be golden, kill the scout, force respawn him, move your team in, enemy has no idea how many of you there are

They should also introduce another skill for warriors: “Rising tide – Enemies around you drown in their own tears”

This will make Warrior far superior in zerg fights. With all that damage, survability and utility whar it already have is no point start queueing with another class into Borderlands.. Now we know why they will make WXP account bound.

I love the molten duo one of my favorite bosses all time.
and molten duo clearly let’s you see the difference between stack here and don’t move (AC spider) VS go full melee on the Molten Beserker, than kill the Dredge Robot. (molten Duo)

hmm, what is this talk about melee AOE ?
melee weapons have cleave
- And yes, I know it hits 3 targets, but there is a clear distinction between cleave and AOE please don’t intertwine them !

- Since kick is not done with a weapon it hits 1 target, your foot doesn’t qualify for cleave :P

On that note, I was making a joke about the foot not qualifying for cleave and found this

Just got hit by a 10k Backstab followed by a 9k Heartseaker on my 2.8k armour toon from a Thief wielding 2 legendary daggers. Now with even more power creep I can see how this is going to be a lot of fun. So much skill needs to be rewarded.

Hmmm, thieves hit hard indeed but also go down just as hard
that is to say they go down fast and hard if you know how to counter them.
learn to counter them I’d say, just like the rest of us had to.

Stacking is what kills rangers, but take heart. The devs have said they realize “stack here” in dungeons is a horrible problem, and they’ve put out a lot of good content to make that not happen anymore.

- as a Warrior main, I love melee.
- melee has several advantages to it, going melee isn’t the same as the stack here problem.
- melee damage is far higher than range damage.
- all 5 going melee ensures all 5 benefit from all boons and condition removal.
- I love fighting my enemy up close, making them eat my GS / Hammer to the face.
I even say it out loud a lot, here eat it ! eat it ! oishi daro?

Another way of looking at it: the 1h sword doesn’t root, it follows your target, which is why a lot of us don’t want it changed. Give it a whirl in PvP and you’ll see why it’s downright amazing.

I get that people want a ranger without a pet, but since rangers are quite specifically the pet class, it will never be an option, just as a warrior using clones will never be an option.

I personally like the sword, specially combined with a dagger the dagger has yet 1 more extra evade on it that also follows the target, the acrobatics are also great. problem is, it’s great for general PVE but it kinda sucks in dungeons where positioning is very very important :S

- I see your points about the weapons make sense, so in that case they would need to add a weapon type for rangers that is both melee and doesn’t root. or do the simple thing which they don’t wish to do, which is remove the root from 1H sword

- you’re missing the point on non pet rangers though, it’s not about making a complete non pet ranger, it’s about having the choice and not suffering for it. Right now you need to have a pet out even if having one is detrimental to what you’re doing, fractals & dungeons come to mind. having the pet stats transfer back to the player when the pet is stowed gives a ton of options to play with.

- Adjust axe / axe or GS to a higher DPS set: since sword roots in place this would keep the unique play style of the sword while providing a moving high DPS melee weapon

- Pet should ONLY come out under express command from player input: my reasoning for this has to do with the next change I will propose, but also the fact that it is annoying when your pet comes out and attacks a target just because you got hit

- Ranger pet stats should be a subset substracted from the player stats: this would make it so that if I decide to keep my pet stowed those stats would transfer back to me and enhance all my attributes, this would make it possible to run w/o a pet and NOT suffer from poor performance because you do not have a pet out

I agree, however they seem to not understand this concept.

unless they take previous progress into account I see no reason what so ever to go beyond 55 AR which is reachable w/o making any of these infusions.

rings 10×2= 20 AR
earrings 5×2= 10 AR
amulet 5×1= 5 AR
back 10×1= 10 AR
weapon 10×1= 10 AR
total 55 AR

with 55 AR I can do fractals all the way to 49 and take only 1% damage from agony.

infusion progression the right way

the new infusion progresion system is very good but lacks one thing.
- The ability to keep your progress instead of flushing it down the toilet.

What do I mean ?

- say I craft a +6 infusion and place it in my ring, than I start crafting a new +6
- In the current system my 1st +6 is useless and is flushed down the toilet, I need to craft 2x +6 to get to +7 completely disregarding the time and money placed on crafting the one in my ring.

craft the 2nd +6 and combine it with my 1st crafted +6 that is now in my ring, to get to +7, this way my earlier progress is NOT simply flushed down the toilet.

So… what’s going to happen now? Once “everyone” or the “hardcores” or whomever finishes all their ascended gear… what then? Will there be “nothing to do”, just like it was at release when everyone “got their exotics and left”?

Then they will start to add raids to the game. Tequatl served as a test and is the proof that raids can be done. He is proof that hard content can exist for a fixed number of players attending it. That hard bosses with even more and complex tactics can be made possible. This would not only please “hardcores” but also guilds, which would now have something new to do.

I would love to have 20 or 40 man raids a la gw2 style of course none of that traditional raiding crap that other mmo’s have.

But…..open world raids is a fail in my book.

If there was a Teq 2.0 instanced 20-40 man raid, man I would be putting together an organized guild group just to do that frequently.

While you’re working on that long term goal, those top players will be smashing face in WvW.

Nope.

If you cannot beat an opponent in a duel while he’s in exotics and you’re in rares for example, you will not beat him if you upgraded to exotics. It’s not a big difference. There’s too many factors in a duel between players (skill, builds, all the conditions, buffs, runes, sigils, certain class advantages, foods, maintenance oils, etc.) and a few more percent in damage will not win you a fight against an equally skilled opponent.

An opponent in WvW running sigil of the night (if it happens to be night time) would do more damage than someone in full ascended if they don’t run that sigil for whatever reason.

If I upgraded TWO of my exotic weapons to ascended, I would get the following as an upgrade:

8 power
.3% crit chance
0% crit damage.

In the end, only bad players will blame a loss on an opponent having ascended gear.

A) You’re ignoring weapon damage.
B) You’re ignoring players also having higher stats on 12 other weapon slots.

he’s ignoring a whole lot more than that.

4-6 stat points per armor item = 24-36 stat points
8-12 stat points per trinket item X 6 = 48-72 stat points

there is a 1% crit dmg difference per item between exotic and ascended
that’s an extra wooping 14% crit dmg total, * as a zerker warrior I would call this a very significant increase*

call me crazy but in any mmo, a stat boost of a few percent is a huge deal.
these numbers may look small per item but when looked at in it’s totality they add up to a very big and significant increase in overall stats and performance.

Compared to a lot of other crafting systems, I do not think this one is bad at all, but that is just me.

Ascended armor is coming, everyone might as well just accept it and move an. I do not see it as that big of a deal personally.

it isn’t a big deal YET because endgame content is still balanced around exotic stats as an endgame gear.

The moment new content starts to be balanced with the assumption that ascended is endgame gear, well that’s when the crap hits the ceiling.

if they introduced say Ancestral Gear a year from now dec 10th 2014, I would be fine with it, as long as the time gating crap is NOT part of the equation anymore.
It would give the majority of players something to do in terms of personal character growth.

time gating is the death of all my alts it has taken all my money and all my resources to get all my alts to have ascended.

Yes, ArenaNet made exotics too easy to acquire. But placing blame does not help the situation. Something needed to be done.

Doing nothing was a surefire way of shortening the game’s lifespan.

Gradually introducing ascended gear might help the situation.

I think the solution was to do nothing about token acquisition at launch the system was perfect.
messing with it and than introducing time gated crap along with ascended introduced a new problem far worse than the original issue.
