My opinion about this is while i appreciate that we make solo ques or duo ques and i support that, i would also appreciate if there was a option to que as a group.
BUT and read it with a big BUT. If you decide to group que, then you will only play against another group, which can mean that you will have a rather long que time to get a match, but this will be your choice. If you want to que for a group then group it is. Do not place 5 random cannon food players so that the group will not be unhappy due to long que time. Make it totally separate but make it as a choice, because it is a team game after all and there are groups out there that want to play together. Give them the choice. but as a separate que and que time.

Xenesis, sorry something did not go right with this post so this is a answer from a post i made a while back

So i been playing many games with this idea of alliances (or add your own word) and none of them have ever worked as intended. Reason have already shown in wvw after linking started. It is in the nature of gamers (or i should say some gamer) wanting to be on the server that runs the others over. A lot of gamers love to join the rolling group so they can run over a lesser group to boost their ego. This is why linking only worked with the first server linking, then players started to do their own thing and bandwagoned linked server to be sure they would be on the rolling server.

This is nothing new in the genre, it happens in every game that have this sort of pvp. The only game were it did not happen was in GW2 and this because of servers and server pride. It meant something. Linking is about to destroy this and few servers are held together, because unfortunate many want to be on the choo choo train.

More unfortune is that the players do not realize that they are actually ruin the game mode by doing so.
Because this is what happen in other games with similair idea of game mode. It starts with a vision from the game devs. Alliances. 3 of them mostly, and players can mostly choose first. First week all goes as the vision is thought. Then players starts to draw their own conclusions and realize that if they stack one team they will win over the other teams. This will boost their ego so players start to move.
Some of this games you have to sit and hammer on the keyboard for 5 min to manage to get in to the stacked alliance. Noone cares anymore about the game mode, only about the stacking. After a while the two other teams get tired of loosing, and people start to drop off from the game mode. Some try to stack the winning team but in the end there can only be so many on one team, so those that never get in stop playing the game mode too.
Now the stacked team have nothing to kill, and they start to tell the world the game mode is dying and blame the devs and they stop joining the game mode because there is no choo choo anymore and moving to the loosing alliances are not an option. And yes in the end the game mode will die or a lot less players will be left and try to make something out of it. That is what happen to those games in the past.

This is were WvW will go as well and especially if we stop using servers. Then it will go even faster. Because as fun as it will be for the bandwagon during the short time they do it, they will kill it slowly until no one is left to kill then they move on because hey, the game mode is dying and no one is to blame, or is it?

So i stand by my words. It been done in so many other games with no long period of success. I can actually not think of any other game with somewhat same game mode who lasted this long. And the only difference is the servers.

Does this look fair to you?

Well the issue is that the linking before this and before that you were the server that was so over populated that it was ridiculous but we never heard anything from deso about unfair then, so don’t expect to get a pat in the back now when you are in the same boat at Gandara always been with the less players

How ever, if we look beyond that, then you do have a point, FSP and Viznuah was made monster servers were FSP already had several guilds moving to them before the linking and then they get two links and Viznuah get two links and someone from anet claim that it was done so that FSP could stand up against Viznuah. The tragic thing in all this is that even though Viznuah have a tripple population and comes with a 60+ blob facing guilds with 20 they still manage to totally run over Viznuah so their points still comes from ppt. Now we have a few of our better EU guilds moving to one of the linked server to viznuah so if anyone of them are leading then we actaully have to work for the fight, but so far this have happen 2-3 times during this week.
And to be more fair, if FSP actaully would meet Viznuah they would probably be as bored as we are, and most likely go for guild fights during prime and just tank the rest of the time.

So the manipulation of EU matches is horrific from A-Net side. EU never had issues with matchups because we had different every week. Now we get pushed towards NA’s terrible state of WvW making EU stale and boring which is not really helping, and people are angry.

I find it hilarious that people still ask for alliances when it already proved what so many said before all this crap started, if you remove servers it will all end up like now but even worse. Players bandwagon the servers that are winning. They move to servers that are winning. They pile it up to a point were it becomes monster server, they win, and after a while it all falls a part because bandwagon never worked in the long run. So now they move to next server and band wagon that and so on.

So for some reason there are still players out here thinking Hey lets call it alliances instead THAT will so work, wait not i wont because then players will move to the best alliance (like it have happen in ALL other games out there already that have something remotely close to wvw). Call it linking, alliances, factions, fluffy pink unicorns or what ever, players will bandwagon the top and in the end players who don’t do this get tired of getting beaten up and either join the bandwagon or leave the game mode.

Servers have always been the reason to why wvw worked better then other game that choose linking, alliance, factions or fluffy pink unicorns. Reason is because servers have their own way and their own identity. With linkings they manage to remove a lot of this, and moving it further will end up like every other game out there were players just move to the group that wins the most.

You guys need to stop tempering with the matches and decide who get to meet who, you are totally ruin the EU matchmaking which was great and something that actually did work in EU. It did not work at all in NA so i get that you want to make changes there, but what you are doing in EU is totally wrecking it to a point were you ruin our fun. Stop poking in our matches. Stop putting servers in matches that can not fight. All servers facing Viznuah leave a 0.6 k/d.
That are numbers that are important, because those numbers tells you if a mu is fun or not. If there are so bad scores involved in matches you put together by hand then you are doing it wrong. Please stop destroying EU WvW. Do not compare them to NA, it is not the same WvW, but it will be in short if you keep on ruin what was actually working in EU.

How do skirmish change the nightcap issue?

Nightcapping is divided into two main issues, coverage gaps/population imbalances, and scoring. Anet has attempted with world linking to help alleviate issues with population imbalances. This is a tricky issue because you cannot force people to play the game or to stay on a server. The best way to address this issue was to change the scoring system to mitigate the effect that coverage gaps have on matchups.

Skirmishes are a really good system, because it awards all servers victory points, even if you are ticking 0 for 2 hours, your server will get a point. The point of this system is not to solve all problems, but to help make it a little more fair. There will also be more scoring changes coming up. Including PPU (points per upgrade) and PPC (points per capture). This new scoring system is a lot more fair then before and much more modernized.

We might see tweaks in the future to how many points are rewarded, how long skirmishes are. Remember also this is in beta testing.

Well Viznuah have 2 links, and according to A-Net FSP was built to be able to face Viznuah, yet after two weeks this have not happen. And to be fair and imo if they do, i think FSP will hate every minute of it as we have and just take a week off hoping they wont face them again. This is just my guess of what i know about FSP though.

Also as much as Gandara can run over Viznuah during day time and kill them if we manage to get walls down were they are hiding behind siege we will faceroll over them, even if they are double our numbers. As seen from K/d ration both from Gandara and Riverside we both manage to do this towards Viznuah. None of us can put up the numbers during nights though. We have roamers or small groups, they have zergs or groups over several maps. And there are no Skirmish going on to talk about during this time it is a for sure win for viznuah during night cap time.

Can someone explain to me (preferably Arena Net) how the warscore/skirmish thingy is going to stop night capping or at least even scores out? My matchup is a perfect example were this should show if it actually was helping, but as far as i can see it is even favoring the night cappers.

Check my matchup in EU. Gandara, Riverside and Viznuah. Check the k/d ratio against Visnuah, and check their night cap. And yet they win, which should not be possible because as the K/D ratio tells, as soon as we break their walls down and kill the insane amount of siege they are hiding behind, and forcing them to fight us, we run them over or they run away. So why do the warscore and the skirmish thing support night cappers when it is said this will help against night capping servers? How will it help? We are sleeping and don’t have a 50 man blob running all night and early morning, neither have most of the other EU servers, so how is this changing anything? Am i missing something?

And i am not trying to bash A-Net here i am just not seeing what i was told this would be. We now have even more issues with night cappers because they also ofc win the skirmish during the night cap time so this kind of support them rather then anything else.

You just had five straight months of pairing and being the bigger blob server.

Pretty much this. How ever even though i agree on that Deso are were they are because of their own dumb bandwagon idea to linked servers, i still have to say that the linking is a freaking disaster in EU. We had different matchups every week. Now we are being painted in to a corner of staleness.

Arena Net claimed they made FSP a monster server (with two links even though several guilds had just moved there) so they could face Viznuah who also got two links. This have yet not happen and this week my server have to fight Rivercart Side and Viznuah. Up to this week i thought RS was the master of siege, but oh boy have i been living a lie. I am sorry Riverside but Viznuah pushed you down to spot number 10 on that list and they own the 9 first them self.

This could be ok if it was only the keeps/towers. The ridiculous amount of siege in their keeps/towers is unbelievable. But now imagine the siege nest they build at every fight in the open field. There is always at least 5 shield generators involved. A insane amount of ac, ballistas and cattas.
I know why they do it because even if they are 5 times more then us, without the siege we run them over without any issue. They know it, we know it. So they built siege nests for 3 days now and our fights is about killing siege. All we are ever fighting is siege, more siege and more siege. No one wants to tag up anymore because there are no real fights to be found. Riverside can sometimes provide fights, they even been asking for it but our comanders just got exhausted of all the siege and given up because what is the fun to fight a blob of siege? And yes we do kill them, check their k/d ratio and you will see so this is not about them running us over in fights. It is about siege and more siege.

So after all that siege you go to bed and thinking, screw this i am doing fractals tomorrow and whilst dreaming nightmares about siege Viznuah is up nightcapping all night and building siege i imagine (the last one was just me being sarcastic, sorry)

My god i miss bandwagon Deso! I am sorry i was tired of facing your blobs for months. All is forgotten, we did not know there was something worse out there so please come back!!!

Please send ""Viznuah the siege and night cap monster to FSP at next mu. After all that is why they got two links, or at least that’s what Arena Net claimed.

Rangers pets are bugged

In PvP when a ranger dies (and the pet vanish) when the ranger respawn the bet turns visible for a short second were it vanished when the ranger died. When this happens the pet trigger traps from other players or place your in combat, even though the pet is not suppose to even be visible when they respawn.

This is also a issue in world verses world. Last night we throwed enemies out of a tower. There was a ranger dead inside of it that did not respawn. To make sure no messmer was hanging around i sat down next to the dead ranger and waited for him to respawn. After 4 min this happens and his pet goes visible for a short second, but enough for the npc to react and fire a arrow towards the pet and the tower is now marked as contested.

The visible bug on the pet when the ranger respawn some were else have been there for very long, but the last patches the aggro the short brief of time the pet turns visible when the ranger respawn is enough to trigger traps, aggro guards and aggro players so they enter combat. And consider the pet is not even suppose to be visible were the pet despawned, when the ranger respawn somewere else it simply have to be fixed.

The bug is easy to re-create and i see it fairly often now. Today in PvP it had my traps going off at least 1 time, and there was also a situation were another rangers pet reacted to the re-spawning pet which got us in to combat on the point and slowed my team mates down when they tried to reach another point that was contested.

I am sure this is also a issue in PvE, but since it is not really effecting stuff in the same way as pvp and wvw it might not be as big of a issue there.

I still ask were all those voters are, because i never see them on a dbl map. And i have accounts in both EU and NA and every server that have dbl are struggling to get people on it. So were are you voters? You have your chance to really shine now and pick up dbl and make new tactics, tag up and run your thing and enjoy your map. But i never see you, i only see the outnumbered buff on each server i check.
So were are you?

The outmanned icon should have given it away. We’re on the other servers.

Well that means you are on the alpine map, so ofc you have more players on it, that is the whole point of the post -.-

1. Just because none of the people that you know didn’t vote for it, does not mean that the majority of voter actually did not vote for it.

2. The reason why you feel like people are leaving the game might be because those of your friends that play it are actually taking a break for Legion in the first place.

If you are involved in a wvw community you know your players because you play with them every day, talk to them on TS or in chat. If you are a wvw guild you have a lot of contacts around you on all servers talking to the players that also are devoted to the game mode. Most of those also have several accounts placed on several servers in NA and EU. So being inside of this, you have more knowledge about wvw overall then the average player who drops in every now and then to follow a commander for loot.

So with that said, all those players that voted for dbl don’t seem to show up. My sever have a community guild were you find most of the wvw players. Most of us are not repping but we have the chat open so when need of help you can call it out in the chat of that guild and you know there will be people outside of wvw dropping what they are doing and join to defend. Last week we had DBL for a few days. And a few to noone responded. After reset we were back on alpine and now people responding as usual. This because the players inside of wvw, the group i wrote about above, mostly did not vote for DBL and dislike the map.

Talking to other players or check other accounts you see the same thing on other servers. Outnumberd and no response and garrison on dbl have a spinning door.
Now there are ofc a few here and there no doubt, roamers seem to run the map since no groups are on it so they can roam and fight other roamers, but i wonder were are those other 55% that voted for the map? I mean it is a really big group that wanted it, so why do we lack people on dbl? Why do we lack commanders and defenders on dbl? 55% is a big number, the dbl map should be over populated, so were are they?

World Linking 8/26/2016

Hello everyone,

I know a lot of EU players are asking why Far Shiverpeaks is linked with Whiteside Ridge and Fissure of Woe so I figured I would clear up why this link was made.

Our goal with World Linking is good matches. This doesn’t necessarily mean that worlds in tier 4 are intended to be competitive with worlds in tier 1, but ideally every world in tier 4 should be competitive with the other worlds in tier 4 and likewise every world in tier 1 should be competitive with the other worlds in tier 1. It would be nice if worlds in tier 4 were competitive with tier 1, but it’s not realistic since the distribution of players across worlds is not consistent. The issue is compounded in EU, due to the fact that we are avoiding linking worlds with different languages. For example, there is only one Spanish world, so they’ll never be linked and thus might never be competitive in tier 1 worlds. Similarly making each set of German worlds have equivalent populations has proved equally impossible because if we were to link them they would have a much higher population than other worlds, making match-ups against them not competitive.

Far Shiverpeaks was linked with two worlds because we needed a third world that would have similar population to the French worlds, specifically Jade Sea and Vizunah Square so that the matchup could be competitive. Far Shiverpeaks, Whiteside, Ridge, and Fissure of Woe linked together gave us the best population to create competitive match-ups for that tier.

It is also important to keep in mind that this is the very first week of match-ups and it will take time before glicko adjusts worlds into their correct tiers.

Well it is all good that FSP are now able to fight the french servers. But what about the other servers that are fighting FSP? Gandara and Deso have no way of responding to the HUGE amount of players that FSP have at any part of the day and night. I mean wasn’t there suppose to be something done about night cap?
Look at night cap on tier 1. Join us on prime time and watch the mega blobs on every border for your self and i think you will understand.

Again as i stated before, i have no issues with fighting FSP. When we have players enough to take on one of their mega blobs (we are still less and always have been less on Gandara) we have good fights. But any other time outside of this we have no way of responding or defending.

So why would you make a super server just to be able to fight french servers? How about the other EU servers that been fighting on top for months now? We already watched Deso getting mega boosted for two linked periods and now you super link FSP leaving Gandara who always had less, and always struggled but yet manage, which will drop us down and yes the french will move up.
So does it not sound like you are running tier 1? Deciding who should be there and who should be the top dog? Imo it is not your place to do so, it really isn’t. It is the players that should determined if they want to fight their way up to tier 1 or fall down a bit, not Arena Net by linking.

World Linking 8/26/2016

Very strange linkings. FSP got a second partner resulting in a too strong #1 server group. GH did not get a second partner resulting in a too weak #15 server group. Instead to reduce the spread between #1 and #15 we will see a larger gap – just the opposite of the goal of server linking.

In addition it becomes more and more clear for me that Arenanet’s decision to evaluate linkings every two months is really not good.

At this point it feels like they are running the top tier in EU. First the promoted Deso with good linking until it was clear that this lead to a huge advantage for Deso. So now they drop Deso, who have all their players on their previous linked server and now are the underdog dropping.

So ok that could be a lesson to not bandwagon a linked server you would think, but no, now A-Net decide to promote another top tier server and add 2 links to a server in top (whilst there is many servers in both silver and bronze struggling) and bam we now have the most overcrowded server in WvW history. And i tell you it is ridiculous.
I saw how this was done to Black Gate in NA with the very first linking and thought that was ridiculous how they overpowered that server in the first try, but with FSP it is just a higher league of ridiculous.

And no i am not whining we are beating FSP when we manage to pick up enough players (still less then FSP) and have a good com online, so fights are nice at those times, but any other time of day/night we always have the outnumbered buff and they are blobbing every map and imo i don’t think they them self find it very fun to pvd gates all day and night without much fights coming with that, especially since i know FSP like fights more then ppt. If my server would get the 2 links i would still feel the same way, because it is not fun to be run by a-net. They should really stay out of that and focus on reinforcing the servers that needs it and be aware of how the linked servers are used.

So my question to A-Net would be how anyone could consider giving a tier 1 server 2 links? It feels a bit odd and more like running tier 1 then actually make use of links were it is needed. We do have more then tier 1 so why are not this servers given links so they can get stronger and move up?

This was a majority vote to have and keep BOTH maps still in play. I prefer DBL and don’t like Alpine as much, I still played on it thou.
So who voted for it? A majority of the GW2 WvW population.

It is strange how this votes were the majority of the wvw population vote for it, yet the players i play with everyday in wvw did not vote for it, hate it and don’t want to be on it.

All those voters should be piling up on the dbl map and lead the way since it is obvious most of the veteran players don’t like it, but yet this don’t seem to happen.
I see those that come for dailies or play for a few hours a week join the map, crying in spawn that there are no com, and then demands for a com to tag up whilst the rest of us that are doing what we always do in wvw are not that bothered about it, and then tell us that the game is dying and leave.
I mean here they have the best opportunity the game can give, a map not liked by veterans so they can tag up when ever and just make it theirs, but again this is not happening. And it did not happen when DBL was up the last time. Why is that? They voted for it.

DBL and Bloodlust

You still don’t get the point. Will you sit there 24/7 the whole week? No? I hear what you are saying and i get your point, but the fact remains, that 2 server have blood lust 1 don’t and that is unfair, no matter how you put it.

You do not need ascended armor in Hot open world. You can get by with rare (yellow) gear, but exotics is the best option and they have the same stats as they did when you left, nothing changed there. In the end ascended is what you guys should work towards, but for now you are ok with exotics.

From what i could read out one of you are a daredevil. And thiefs are squishy and requires more of you in HoT. If you played it for a while you will manage fine and know how to deal with mobs without issues, but if this is new to you and mobs overwhelming you, you really need to figure your skills out. You need to dodge, and dodge and dodge, and daze/stun/block well anything that control the mobs. If you don’t control them, they control you. So both of you check your skills and make sure to use them properly. If you are two do the team work, and work together

As for raptors, yes they are overwhelming at the start. But they have very low hp and if you use aoe they will die fast. If you can slow, daze, stun or anything else before you take them on and then aoe them, even better.

Also remember if you getting overwhelmed you don’t have to stay and fight. Make sure you have a stun breaker and just jump off the cliffs and fly away. It really is this simple.

So practice will teach you the mobs and what they do that you can prevent, work as a team and make sure to use your skills in a good order. For example if you slowed the mobs, makes sure your husband damage the mobs and vice versa. And remember you have heals and depending on class you also have some or more buffs to share that helps out. Some classes have cleanses and stunbreaker and protection that is for more then just the player. Use it all and you will learn

DBL and Bloodlust

Ok, how can it not be a feature and have all things equal with scoring? I don’t get that.

Huh, not having a bloodlust give more purpose to it imo. There is more incentive to fight over it since one server will always be short. It’s kinda like SMC. There is only 1 castle for all 3 servers. Now we have only 2 bloodlust for 3 servers.

Most people were pretty confortable with only having 1 bloodlust (hardly going to contest other map ones). Now one server is out of the confort zone.

It is simple. 2 servers have bloodlust and gain points from it. 1 server have no bloodlust and gain no points from it.

They can ofc go to other borders and contest other servers bloodlust, but either way, red server have a disadvantage that should not be there. And having blood lust under garrison that takes you a min to capture is not the same as moving to enemie border to take theirs. You are not gonna sit on their bloodlust all day, and they can easy instant cap it back. So again. There is a disadvantage that should not be there, yet it is. This is unacceptable.

DBL and Bloodlust

Our immediate focus, besides scoring, was to bring the Desert Borderlands map back, in the mixed borderland setup, that the community recently voted for.

Now that both maps are available to players, at all times, we can begin deciding if we want bloodlust to become a feature in Desert.

Um how can something that two servers have and gain points from, and one server don’t have and there for not gaining any points from not being focused to add or as i understand your post even questioned if it should be added? I mean it clearly give advantage to two servers and disadvantage to the server that are forced to play dbl, which is a punishment to start with.

I do not understand your post and i am trying to not get upset over it but it is really hard.

No but really i mean why can’t you have two guards? And i don’t see that you loose anything by making another one well unless you want to use the racial armor but then again make another and save the first and now you can dress up both as you wish

Also adding that this game do not have a gear grind so your if you get ascended gear it wont be outdated if you leave for a few weeks or months. This means you can take short breaks or long breaks and then come back and still be competitive not having to grind your way 10 different raid tiers, notoriety for 10 new factions and what else you missed when you were gone like in other mmo’s. This means that people come and go and comes back.

The issue with this event is that people lying dead on the ground not respawning. Then people try to ress them because apparently it is very hard to not push that button and then they die too since the legendary focus downed people to finish them off. Now we have two dead players on the ground not respawning. 3 more will die to this and now we have a upscaled boss with 5-10 players dead on the ground watching the others. This is were i just leave, because i am not going to bounce around staying alive (and yes it is easy to avoid the damage and the attack they do if you pay attention) fighting a upscaled legendary boss whilst people are to lazy to respawn. THIS is why the events mostly fails.

If people respawn then they are dead and run back (waypoint mostly half a min away) and the people in circle stop trying to ress dead people, the event would not fail as much. If you really want to be inside of the circle it is easy to get inside. You can use blinks to get inside or a messmer can use portal. But you can also respawn and fight from the outside, and the best thing you can do then is to help the people stay alive inside if they are few by killing the mages that spawns and even help buffing that player if there is only one or two.

Dear god, what the hell is wrong with people. Why would anyone even remotely consider voting on this? Are you not really aware of what this will mean? Like how are you gonna defend against a huge zone blob when you can not take down their rams, cattas, trebs? I mean this is tricky as it is anyway when outnumbered, so how on earth do you guys feel that this is a great idea?

This wont help defenders for the easy reason that if you have to use siege to defend, it means your side is undermanned. And the attacking side will be more powerful due to the repair hammer AND it wont stop them from taking our siege down for the simple reaso, that we are not immune to the insane amount of damage a blob throw at the siege, so repair hammer for defending side will be utterly useless!

So by all mean, all you guys that voted for this. How were you thinking? How are you even considering this to be a good thing?

Just understand that there is nothing that prevent either you or the buyer from not acting on their part. You can send the item to the player, and he can take it and then block you and your item is gone. He might be banned for it, but you wont get your item back. There is no safe way to send stuff in mail and get gold back for it.

Well a lot of players get tunnel vision on heart quests and think this is what they have to do until they turn lvl 80. This is not the case at all. Heart quest are more of a pointer on the map were you can find a area to move in, but what you should focus on is the events in the area, which you can do whilst making the heart quests.

But this is just a small part of leveling. You can also do map completions, world bosses/world events (http://gw2timer.com/ this link shows you were they are and when they are), you can do jumping puzzles, mini dungeons, normal dungeons (story path start at lvl 30). There is also something called activity were you play small mini games such as Sanctum Sprint and Crab toss and others.

Your story quest give you loads of xp, gear, buffs, keys and what not.

Gathering give you xp so pick anything on the map. Crafting give you lots of xp. 7 lvl for each crafting profession you pick.

You can do pvp at lvl 2. You will not gain xp inside of the matches, but through the reward track you will gain Tomes of knowledge. Consume them and you gain a lvl for each tome. The reward tracks can also give you exotics and dungeon tokens (if you done story dungeons you can pick them as reward tracks in pvp and wvw) Same goes with world verses world (f2p stats at lvl 60, core accounts and HoT accounts starts at lvl 2). The reward track in wvw give you Tomes of knowledge.

So there is really not reason to only do heart quests. Focus on events first hand and make the hearts mean while you doing events. And then mix it up with a bit of everything above, and you will hit lvl 80 and end game in not time

Ok i am baffled at the answers here. People are complaining that there are only one episode coming and i wonder why? I can understand if this is the first time you will interact with the living story and don’t get how it is working, but if it is not then why the complaints?

Every living story comes in episodes and have since the first season. This is how it is done and how we want it to be done. This is what makes it special. How about you adjust to how this game is making things instead of jumping on the whining train before you even get to try it?

Anyway back to topic, and it is great to finally hear something and i look forward to play through it.

I’m just saying they need to put in something that has XP matter after max level and Masteries. Nothing is more discouraging than seeing numbers popping up all the time and knowing they mean exactly nothing.

XP is not everything in this game. You also get BL keys, transmutation charges, gift of explorations, crafting materials and sometimes exoticts.

With the exception of the gifts of exploration, most of those aren’t worth the time investment needed to do map completion when they can be obtained more easily elsewhere. Not at the quantities provided by map completion, and certainly not when you are doing hearts for the 7th time and just want them to shut up about the termites already.

Well i done 11 world completions, and ofc i do not only get that. I get kitten ton of crafting material for each region. I also get loads of drops that i either salvage or sell whilst going through the regions. I also get a bit of a quite time for my self in game were i just easy run around with music in my ears, gatherer, doing map completions, killing of some mobs and karma for some events. Tbh when i lack crafting material, mapcompletion is the first thing i turn too.
Effective enough, i dunno. I make a lot of gold on it anyway

No you guys just never do it right. There are three things to know about this fight.

First. Never attack her if you are only 1-2 players. She will cocoon one of you instantly more or less and the fight is over before it even started. Wait until you are several people.

Second and most important. Get people out of the coocoons by attacking it. Not doing so will result in the person inside going down. If you get them out before the spider queen reached the cocoon and makes her attack on them, she will turn and walk away.

Third thing. Do not stand any were close to the blue flowers. If doing so you will get instantly downed and probably die. So blue flowers and red ring around it is a nono. Always move in this fight. There is no need to stand still. In GW2 most skills are possible to cast whilst moving.

If you do this the queen will go down fast. If ignoring the tactics thinking it does not matter, well yeah you will either fail or it will take like 10 min or more to kill it.

I mostly stop and check what kind of players are doing it, sometimes i actually tell them how to make it before i go in. But very few listen to what i say (even though i am polite), so it ends up with me leaving it. For some reason people have a hard time accepting information. They seem to believe they know better and end up dead and then they go back and do the same thing over and over. I never understood why

This is GW2 there is no tanks nor healers except for versions of it in raids, but not even there you find the tanks and healers as they are in other mmo’s.

There are only a few bosses in raids that are tankable. Any class with the highest toughness can tank them. BUT this does not mean you should collect toughness. You are still a dps/support if you will be one of them tanking a boss.
There are no tank specs in the way you probably thinking about this. So you can not taunt or do anything tanky that you might have done in other games.

So unless you do not plan to raid, tanks are not needed in this game. And even in raids, you should not be stuck with only one role. This will most likely keep you from getting in to raids. Make sure you can play your class in many different ways.

How about a savings for those poor suckers who bought the “buy once, play forever” line. Although one might argue that if it sounds too good to be true, one might ought to have know better.

You did buy it to play forever and you still can play it forever, nothing have changed the core game is there to be played forever. Only you being greedy wanting this to include expansions to come which it ofc does not. Have no clue why you would expect that, since i mean, you can’t really been born in to the game world like yesterday

I am happy that clutter is gone from my screen. Especially in WvW were tags are drowning in the clutter and it was so bad when we could see those icons, because the tags just vanished in to that.

This is absolutely terrible and it is even more terrible that players choose to vote in this plague or cholera poll. It will be a flat out punishment to be the server that gets DBL, which in the end most likely will influence the outcome of the MU.
Might not be a big thing in NA, but in EU were the top tiers are constantly changing, it will hit like a truck. The server with DBL will have so many disadvantages and the rest of us will pile up on ABL maps.

I can not even imagine how this pull came about or how it can be thought of as a good pull. But ok lets go through this again and watch the server with DBL rage for not having players or waypoints or any sort of tactic. It will be fun time to watch the rage flow in this forum again. sarcasm if anyone missed that

Are you waiting around on the same map, or are you clicking on the lodestones to see which map it says to go to?

I was waiting an hour, then i left the map, because as fun as the event was, i am not gonna stand in a map for hours for one event. Then i rather wait until someone give me a time frame on spawn timers.

Both options are kitten. If one home border is the desert border it means that one server will have a very kittenty 3 months and their rank can even be effected by it.

If we have desert borders for 3 whole kitten months is just gonna make people stop playing during those 3 months and many might drop and not come back when alpine is back again.

I still can not for the love of god understand why it is not obvious that the alpine border is working as intended? Why do we have to be forced to go through this whole thing again where pop drops and why do you even think wvw will survive this? It have been tried already.

Desert border is not what the majority want. Your voting was so wrongly made, and you should just have put up vote either desert or alpine. Period.

Why 1 or the other? That would not be smart and simultaneous provides the options for both anyway. The previous poll was fine. As for population dropping, vote for the simultaneous option that was everyone gets what they want.

Because it is a punishment to get the desert border and the server that has to play it for 3 months will have a empty border, whilst those with alpine wont.
This has nothing to do with rewardtracks, we already showed very clearly when DB came out that we do not like the map because it offers no tactics, it is only a empty huge map with towers and keeps that have no synergy and noone could care less if they loose anything. Not to mention we have no waypoints to use except for two in the north IF we own rampart.

When DB came out the veterans of wvw piled up on EB. They did this for a reason, they hated the DB map. People said, oh well tough luck, the new players will take over, but as we knew they wouldn’t because to be very frank here, they do not have the knowledge and noone wants to follow a commander that know nothing about what he is doing and wiping his group over and over or turning the map in to a pvd train. That is not wvw to anyone. So the border went empty. And the ques to EB was huge. Because veterans that did not leave the game went there, and the other players that was suppose to build up the new wvw, went to EB because there is were the fights were, and this is also were the reward track will even be a disadvantage to those that have the DB map. If the tracks was what brought it back ,then players goes were the rewards are.

So again DB maps will hurt wvw once again. But this time i don’t think it will survive. It barely did the last time. And 3 months is a looooong time in WvW. Rememeber golem week? Was ONE week, and that is the second thing in wvw history that hurt it badly. Now 3 months…..

Should I use level 80 boost?

Don’t boost your first character. GW2 is very different from other games and there are so many posts on reddit and here from confused new players that used the boost and are getting wrecked in the new maps.

Make a character and level it. Make another character and boost it. Level your normal character and learn the way of the game and how stuff works. And play your lvl 80 on the side and try out things with it.

Alts in this game are very easy because the gear progression is fast and gear is easy to obtain. Most of us have many alts so don’t be scared to try this out.

Also tier 1 might be a thing in NA, but in EU our top matches moves between 3 tiers with different matches every day, so i would not really make that clear cut you are trying to do here

Desert border fits in EotM. It can easy be implemented as some sort of middle thingy. Or move it to PvE. It is gorgeous, but wvw is not about gorgeous it is about tactics, which desert border do not offer. Towers are useless, totally useless because they are not connected. and no one gives a kitten if they loose it, they can just cap it back. There is no danger if they are taken. Just a few min of point loss.

If we are forced to play with the desert border, then at least make it a weekly change. This way i can at least comfort my self it is over when the week have passed or i can just ignore wvw that week.

Revenant is a overall good class so try it out if you feel it might suit you. But don’t hesitate on classes, just pick one and leveling it. You have 5 character slots and can add like over 60 more slots if you want, so you have room to play what ever you like

There is no need to pick either or, pick both. This game favor alts, since most stuff involved is account bound, you do not have to grind for a new character, and gear is very easy to get and leveling is not a problem either.
So if you want to play warrior and ranger, just make them and pick and play flavor of the day

World Linking 6/24/2016

Thanks anet for ruining WvW for growing guilds and their players with this linking.

Perhaps you’d like them to run every decision past you first? If you can’t grow your guild, it’s not the linking that’s stopping you.

Here’s to good fights, fun times, and (hopefully) more dynamic matchups this time around.

No I’m not saying they should run this past me, but you try commanding and putting in work to grow a guild then come back to me. Half of my players were on the merged server. Maybe for lower tiers its easy to recruit but in some cases and servers it is difficult and small recruitment pool. I am by far not the only one affected by this and to think unmatching t1 servers is going to change the dynamic is a joke. Blackgate will win as they have always done, so +1 for anet thinking that it would change weekly outcomes.

It have been said since they started the linking that they will re-link servers, so it should not come as a surprise to you. It more shows that you did not adjust to the situation and understood that if you took players in and they did not move to your server you would loose them at next re-link. Don’t blame others for your missinformation.

Can I go back as a level 80?

Start a second character and play it on the side when ever you feel tired of your lvl 80. Alts in GW2 is very easy to make and many players have at least one of each profession. So make use of your character slots
