Yea I thought about using the ones from laurels but without the agony resistance, I’d probably never get new ascended items if they get introduced.. i really hope Anet won’t go increasing item tiers again (including these fine infusions), I feel that fotm is a tedious treadmill already. If ascended armors get introduced, I hope they remain the same stats, just that they can be infused. Runes stay! And weapons too! I hope they only leave a slot for Sigils, not precise or versatile infusions. Infusing a set of armors and weapons will make a ton of agony resistance anyway..

Ok so I want to complete my fine infusion (the ones with +5 stat +5 agony) set for my trinkets, but I haven’t infused any of my ascended items yet.. I know they disappear if I try to infuse them later on. My problem is I don’t really want to run fotm. I hate it. I just want to get the extra stats. They are pretty expensive too (around 20g per item). I’m just worried that should ascended armors/weapons are introduced, it would require me to farm extremely high levels of fotm (when I’m already bored with level 22) and by then, I’d HAVE to get my trinkets infused and I would have to make them expensive fine infusions again.

Also, utility infusion slotted rings and stuff might get introduced too. >_< Should I insert my fine infusions on my trinkets now (backpiece, 1 earring, 2 rings, 1 amulet) now or farm fotm to get the infused versions even though I don’t really enjoy it but just that it would most likely be through insane levels of fotm that new ascended items will be acquired (that or I’d have to wait a year to get 1 piece)?

I am absolutely a bad player and needs every bit of stat to help me balance things out with most people, either in pve or wvw, so don’t say that i don’t need it. i want it regardless of how little they help (or not).

It’s a natural tendency for gamers to aspire for BiS items. Then again, if it isn’t as good as everyone thinks, then what’s the point of even introducing them in the first place? Ascended gear isn’t necessary so why then are we given a hard time acquiring them (too limited)? The time/effort:reward ratio of these items doesn’t seem to be very well balanced. It destroyed the rate by which people get what they want (and need) when exotics were BiS. Back then, one can focus on spending their time and money doing whatever they want and wouldn’t worry about getting left behind in terms of equipment. Ascended detracted away from grinding for aesthetics into tier/stats which was supposedly not what GW2 was initially about, regardless of how much the “pro” players dismiss their worth. Good for you folks who’d rather enjoy having the second best tier, but some people aren’t ok with settling with ‘ok’ instead of ‘best’ (underachieving). Pointing out that skills are the only thing that matters in GW2 is a mere rationalization for how poorly the new tier was introduced. Laurels, guild commendations, fractal relics, pristine fractal relics and now ectos, just how many currencies does a person need for 1 tier? If this continues, it’ll make the other currencies (karma, skill points, tokens) obsolete eventually.

It’s a bit tricky to purchase expensive items on the TP since a new patch is approaching. I feel like prices will drop a bit further down because of how much people dislike the way precursors are acquired at the moment.. it’s 10 more days anyway… better wait

Is there any way that a person with only 1 character can catch up to those who have multiple alts in terms of farming? I think fotm is the only place where alts won’t matter?

6 pieces of legendary items to farm? no thanks. Ascended armors are bad enough if they get implemented.. T_T

World completion I feel is the biggest deterrent for me in terms of making a new character. However, when I think about it, given that I’d much rather farm dungeons than anywhere else, alts are imperative. Without alts, I’m earning a fraction of the tokens and thus gold from people who have plenty of toons.

Given the diminishing returns one gets from farming/grinding a certain area over and over, people make alts in order to ‘bypass’ some of the restrictions. In most MMORPGs I played, alts are mostly only made in order to learn the skills of other races/professions for PvP or so that they can fill up the role required in a specific content (healers vs Boss battles for example). I understand the purpose of Anet for implementing DR, but has anyone ever encountered another game that gives so big a benefit in alts as much as gw2? With alts, I feel like one can earn a lot more gold than someone who doesn’t – via farming tokens from dungeon and chests from world bosses for example.

It seems like people who’d rather roleplay as one character are at a big disadvantage then. Personally, I don’t feel like alts should give such a distinct privilege over others who don’t.

For those altoholics , how much difference do alts make in terms of getting rich ingame (specifically hardcore farmers that play 1 character all throughout vs altoholics)? And how imperative is it to make alts in the game?

Lastly, I found the last bit about ‘endgame’ a bit finny in a gw2 parody related to alts..

Yea I think it might be best to farm it too since it’s most likely that the legendaries will drop in price when the precursors become more available.. Even now I see that most of the legendaries are dropping in price.. Some even as low as 1.4k. Bolt used to be so insanely expensive but also has dropped in price recently too.

I agree with the people who said that the problem with ascended is it forces us to play a specific way to acquire them. Compared to exotics and lower tiers, we can do anything we want and yet still be able to acquire them. With ascended equips, I have to do fractals, or guild missions or dailies (activities which weren’t part of my regular routine before) so that I can get them items.

I’m still confused as to why people would keep on saying ’it’s optional, you don’t have to get it’. We aren’t required to get to level 99 in other games either. Level 98 is fine and yet why do we pursue max level or final equipments in other games? GW2 isn’t an exception. Heck, we can even do anything with just green items in GW2 but why do we want to get exotics?

Thanks guys! As for the fine inscription that I’m planning to infuse on my ascended equips, will they disappear if I decide to infuse my items after I’ve combined them already? I really don’t plan on doing fotm that much, I’m just interested in putting the fine inscriptions on all of my ascended but I fear that if I don’t infuse them all, I’ll be in huge trouble if they implement ascended swords or armors in the future which would probably go past 40.. these precise infusions costs too much for +5agony resistance and +5perception. -_- Don’t even get me started on the backpiece. wtf 250 ectos for +5 agony resistance?

Which is more efficient if you’re going for a third one (for swapping), go through the tedious process of trying your luck with precursors, earning skill points and wvw badges, map completion etc. OR just buy it off of the TP. Also, at what price are you willing to part with their legendaries? I often see them sellers list their items for around 1800 to 2100 gold, but the buyers only go up to around 1500. Is 1500 a reasonable amount to sell a legendary in terms of the effort you’ve put in?

How far will 20 agony resistance (from 4 ascended items) get me in fotm? Will i be able to do at least level 20? I can’t farm vials and globs fast enough to get shards for infusion. And the backpiece costs too much to infuse. T_T

I think it’ll be better for you if you save up your gold.. At least, while farming, you might get it from a drop (miniscule chances). Just make sure not to use your gold for anything else.. Unlike me who buys all sorts of things that I later regret (such as exotic mini pets, self-style hairkit etc.) -_- good thing I lucked out in getting a prec.

Cool, I suspected that was the truth. Next question: If you use a transmutation stone on a Legendary so it has the stats you want, will it still adjust when new weapons come out or have you have you turned it into an extraordinarily expensive weapon skin?

As these ascended weapons haven’t been introduced yet, no one can provide any definite information regarding this. However, Anet seems to be improving transmuted Legendaries into maintaining their rarity (purple font and original name without the sigil modifiers), so I am positive that they plan to bump the stats of those that have been transmuted. It makes no sense why the best weapons ingame should have so limited stat combination anyway.

posted in TP actually gets bought? I don’t think people would actually cancel their trade because of the ridiculous listing fee (around 100g) and yet they do seem to be getting less and less available.. With incinerator alone, from around 4 recently, nothing seems to be on sale anymore.. O_O

But I think the longer the game goes, the more appealing buying legendaries off of TP will be since it’s pretty tedious to make alts and do map completion just to get the gift of exploration. Not to mention the 200 skill points. If one saves up all of his gold and mats, will he be able to buy an entire legendary? (and sell his precursor)

The legendary weapons, being the endgame equipments, having limited stat combinations is a really poor idea. We should be able to transmute it and retain any options we’d normally have if we didn’t. Transmuting shouldn’t reduce an item’s value.

As for other items, ascended backpieces can be transmuted and still be infused, so there.

I’ve tried making an eternity using my transmuted twilight and it wouldn’t let me. I think despite the purple name my twilight has, it is still considered an exotic. So be careful not to transmute your twilight/sunrise if you plan on making eternity for now. I hope Anet fixes this.. They can just remove the “transmuted” description and just maintain the higher tier when transmuting so when I transmute say a rare item skin into an exotic weapon, the new item will read “exotic” instead of transmuted.

Not even close. The “design of the game” isn’t gear. That’s the whole point. BiS gear is great if that’s your personal goal, but the game wasn’t designed around it. It was designed to let you enjoy the various aspects without requiring your to have BiS gear.

Again, most games are like this. You can leave your character at level 98 instead of maxing it to 99 and still enjoy every aspect of the game. But doing so only makes you content in not reaching the ceiling imposed by the designers.

So let me ask you, why then would people want to reach level 99 instead of 98, to equip exotics instead of rares? That’s the answer as to why people want to get ascended too. But the effort:reward ratio initially introduced in guild wars (in terms of base BiS equipments) have been kittened off by the ascended tier. If they made ascended equips available through all the methods viable for the other tiers, it would’ve been ok. But it already took them so much time and yet the only solution they’ve found is time-gating.

No offense, but in one game I stopped at 4500 when the max level was 9999. It just wasn’t worth the grind and the power difference was much easier to make up in other methods.

Yes yes ascended gear isn’t that much better but takes it so much time and effort to acquire comparatively that it the gain:effort is not proportional at all. If it was like an legendary tier item I could wait for a couple of weeks doing mundane things ingame to get a piece. However, GW2’s initial design was to have us get BiS stats we want easily (exotics) just by doing the things we want such as wvw without having to worry about being left behind in stat progression because advantage only comes visually (legendaries) . It was understandable back then that legendaries are difficult to get, they are prestige items afterall. When they introduced ascended and how limited our means to acquire them is, they ruined the game’s image imho. Regardless of how much you defend that it isn’t “necessary”, it will always be the BiS item and gives some form of advantage.

People who exclusively plays wvw back then didn’t have to worry about missing out on PvE events because they can get the same BiS stats just by doing wvw. By being forced to do dailies and dungeons and things you’d rather not do just so they wouldn’t get left behind in stats (regardless of how miniscule the difference) is simply tedious.

It’s silly for people to say it isn’t necessary. Nothing in the game is necessary. But the fact that it gives any form of advantage via stats defeats the original concept on horizontal progression that anet made me buy the game in the first place. Settling for exotics when better equipments are available is like being a defeatist or an underachiever.

As a mesmer, you never feel useless. Everyone will want to have at least 1 mesmer in their party. You’ll never see a “GLF1M except mesmer”.

I just wish they’d improve on our skill effects. We have some of the worst looking spells in the game imho. Guardians and elementalists and necros have cool looking elites and mechanics while ours are just a bunch of repetitive pink butterflies and stuff.

Even before this weeks match started, we on Blackgate said that we expected JQ to win with 50-70K points this week. It has nothing to do with BG getting burned out, but us returning to our normal schedules instead of pulling out double shifts.

Ya, dont want BG to turn into SOS burning themselves out trying to fight a bloated JQ. You can only fight JQ’s coverage for so many weeks before it gets to you. Its amazing what BQ did last week vs jq numbers but doing that every week can tear a server apart

With the recent guild transfers to BG, coverage-wise (as in around the clock coverage), my opinion is that BG is better than JQ. JQ has 2 time zones that their coverage are excellent – NA and SEA. JQ is rather weak or average in oceanic and euro time zone. BG, on the other hand, has above average or excellent coverage in NA, oceanic, SEA, and euro.

Agg, foe, atac, etc solidifies their already above average NA coverage. Merc, probably the biggest oceanic guild, with 500 members, was a huge boost to their oceanic coverage. And I dare say, they might have the best oceanic out of all NA servers (if not 1st then maybe 2nd to SOS). ND was a good addition to their SEA coverage. Without RG and votf (heard they went back to EU server), HB which is now the best euro guild in NA server controls the euro time zone.

You’d be surprised how much outmanned buffs we get on most of the borderlands. I’ve actually asked my guildmates about it, how they are able to get as much points as they have and take towers despite having the seemingly lack of people.

If BG is outmanned in NA time zone on all maps, the question should not be about coverage but why Agg, foe, atac, knt, etc are not in wvw fighting. Like I said earlier, around the coverage-wise, BG has guilds (not PUGs) to fill the maps.

I’m not from NA, in fact I rarely play during NA primetime and so I speak in regards to my timeslot and bl where we almost always have the outmanned buff .

Anyway in other news, lest i risk getting Noctis overfed, I think I’ve never encountered a guild that garners so much fear as FOO. O_O It was very impressive how strong this guild is. Kudos to FOO.

I’ve only been in BG for a couple of days yes, but I’ve played against JQ and SoR for a long time now. I’m not new to T1 lol. As for me, I won’t condone bad behavior, teammate or not. You can always file a proper complaint ticket and provide screenshots. Have you even read the rules of conduct in this forum?

Any in-game misbehavior should be reported via the in-game report tool or through the ticketing system to our Customer Support Team with all required details such as screenshots, videos etc… Both methods will help.

So far the official GW wiki about the facets, their link to the Human gods as well as the forgotten AND glint raises some interesting questions..

The Facets are a kind of ghostly servants of the gods. All of the known Facets take the form of a semi-transparent dragon. However, there are more Facets than have been observed and it is currently unknown if they all take the same form.

The Facets encountered in the Tarnished Coast and during The Path to Revelations are said to “reflect the nature of the power that the human gods have harnessed” and are [b]“ghostly servants” that are “tied to the Forgotten.”[b]

Perhaps the forgotten, being linked primarily to the gods are not aware that glint was a previous champion of an elder dragon?

In terms of having a lot of gimmicks, I find Guardians to be the most fun.. More so than any other class, I feel like they are the most versatile and fits almost all kinds of gameplay from support to DPS and control. Their utilities are fun too. You can always file a proper complaint ticket and provide screenshots. Have you even read the rules of conduct in this forum?

Also, if you witness suspected behavior in game that could be violations of the in-game Rules of Conduct, please do not post these reports on the forum, as we’ll have to remove them. Any in-game misbehavior should be reported via the in-game report tool or through the ticketing system to our Customer Support Team with all required details such as screenshots, videos etc… Both methods will help.

Oh no I had so much fun in wvw with Urge. Winning or losing is inconsequential to me, as I’ve said, I just wanted to have good fights during my primetime. In my previous post I’m actually referring about the gap between JQ/BG and SoR and how it’ll be fun to have SoR get some help in terms of coverage to balance things out a bit such as the SBI/JQ/SOS fights back then.. I’d actually want my friends to transfer to BG too but we don’t have enough gold yet. XD

I wish there’d be a promo to server transfers or something. Like 1 day of discounted transfers.. It’d be interesting to see SOR get some help for the lack of representation during hours when JQ and BG are at their height..

Wow, as a newbie in BG (not in T1 though, been staying with SOS since the beginning), I have to say I haven’t had as much fun as I had in a while until I joined Urge (which I should’ve done in the first place since I know several of their members personally lol it took me more than 6 months to finally find the home I was looking for when it was just under my nose all this time). Naturally, JQ and SOR continues to impress me. I was taken aback by how some conversations turned for the worse in the forums (really I was surprised how some topics were handled here), but overall, at least the guild I’m currently in I’m happy to be in BG. Should they try to introduce Cantha to GW2 again, they should definitely bring back the phoenix pets. I’d trade a legendary for those 2.
