as the title says, the Lich Form ability “Deathly Claws” moves insanely slow!
i love using Lich Form on my power necro but i always end up having to jump right in to the middle of a fight (normally resulting in having to leave lich form early or dying.)

this is due to how slow Deathly Claws (the lich form auto attack) moves,
even if you’re only 600 away from your target they can still simply strafe and you’ll miss every attack.

feel free to test it! have someone stand a short distance away (perhaps the length of a capture point) from a lich while the lich spams deathly claws, he’ll hit nothing but air!

agreed, condimancer/terrormancer is already strong, putting a potent healing ability inside their spec is just stupid, it belongs in the blood tree,
if they want healing make them trade damage for it like power necros.

that is the opinion of a PvPer,

but just think about how goldy this will be in pve,
when a world boss/champion is stacked with conditions and a necro uses Epidemic the necro causes all of those conditions (usually every condition in the game, with max stacks) on 5 other targets, just imagine the healing…

i definitely see some of the traits being more useful than the healing skills.
signet of vampirism is utterly useless.
Parasitic Contagion could be incredible.

guardians with 33% more burning damage could open the doors for some interesting builds, and my crit immune conjure ele should be fun!
also powerblock mesmers?!

though yeah, some of the traits just suck, 1 second stability for thieves lol XD

so yup, sounds like all of our swag pvp sets will be going in to the wardrobe too,
highfive for a full set of arah gear
this is actually a pretty great reward for us pvpers,
i just wish i’d bought more cultural sets

for pvp i’d expect that it will have a similar transmute system but without the need for charges.

the healing sig change will be unnoticeable, the sigil change will be a massive buff.
so thats what we get after half a year of hambow lameness, and thousands of threads

You seriously think you will land frostbow 5 on any living being?

its much easy than you think. just wait when your foe use 2-dodge and land it, 7/10 you get it. also tp while casting helps a lot.

also use frostbow 3 which applies multiple stacks of chill, it makes it alot easier to land your one hit combo

Any conjure short of ice-bow WILL always be a wasted slot.

i love lightning hammer for hotjoin fun, it hits hard, 3-5k with auto attack hits.
and nopes, not a missclick, i was getting all the precision i could,
with lightning hammer it ends up being around 75% crit chance.
but thats just my playstyle preference, alot of people will prefer defensive cooldowns

crits are not the only reason eles melt.

thats very true, but lets not forget, to get the crit immune trait we’re going deep in the earth tree, you’ll have 2300 armour in zerker gear,
this is more damage reduction than a zerker war/guard with their heavy armour

throw in some toughness/vit runes (plus being crit immune) and you could see ele survivability that has been alien to us until now.

also we have ether renewal to fully clear conditions every 15 seconds.
or if conditions get to tough drop your conjure weapon and cast magnetic wave, another 3 cures.

hitting 50% health gives you protection and stability
scepter 2 offers an extra 250 toughness for 30 seconds (that persists with a conjure)
focus 5 also gives you a 4 second invulnerable

i really do have high hopes for decent survival rates

ah i was thinking more about pvp hotjoin fun, i’ve recently been playing with a water conjure build (for the 20% more damage vs vulnerability) in hotjoin and its been great,
but VERY squishy.
so the idea of taking on warriors and thieves with crit immunity really got me excited

besides, the pvp forum could use some chilled post patch theories and build idea sharing,
i figure its a nice break from the usual rage and cursing

You seriously think you will land frostbow 5 on any living being? And what do you do after a frostbow 4 and your opponent is alive? Pelt them with frostbow arrows for 400 damage? Tickle them with earth attunement autoattacks?

how about switch to lightning hammer and repeatedly crit them for 3-5ks?
besides, if you do hit them with frostbow 5 they’re pretty much dead anyway :P
works wonders on decap engis and hambow wars!
one shotting a hambow war yesterday was the highlight of my night

i’ve been thinking about how to make use of the new “crit immune” earth attunement,
earth skills deal rather low damage, and condi eles simply don’t do aswell as other condi classes, but then it hit me, CONJURES!

lightning hammer, FGS and frostbow (5/4 combo) all hit like a truck,
the only problem is that eles up until now have been getting crit to death in seconds,
but with this new trait will eles be able to more reliably go toe to toe with melee classes?

the build i had planned is something like this (with the empty slot in earth being left for the crit immune trait)

10% bonus damage within 600 of target (thats always with a lightning hammer)
20% bonus damage vs stunned foes (frostbow 5/4 combo)
10% bonus damage when endurance is full (might not be up all the time, but it helps)
20% bonus damage vs targets below 33%hp

and all of that is on a crit immune character!
with the right runes and amulet you could probably get a decent amount of hp
(though i’ll be trying full zerker first)

i anticipate this to be a hellishly fun build for hotjoin,
though we’ll have to wait and see how it performs in tournaments

what does everyone think about the new traits?
are there any builds you are looking forward to trying?

i was incredibly excited when i heard about this skill, but once it was added to the game my excitement turned to embarrassment, embarrassment that i spent 25 skill points on such a horrendously impractical “heal”.

the passive
as a passive it works like an under performing healing signet that only ticks when you’re taking damage.
surely with that harsh limitation you’d expect it to heal more than healing signet,
which ticks constantly forever but alas, healing signet heals more each tick.

active effect ICD’s
the issue with the active effect lies in the internal cooldown that ultimately kills this skill for the necromancer, you will only get 4 stacks of your 25 stack effect, giving you an utterly unnoticeable amount of healing.

proposed change to active
initial heal similar to the other heals, around 5k.
total change to active effect:-
Enhanced Bloodthirst: for the next 10 seconds all life siphoning is increased by X%
(perhaps 50%?) bare in mind that syphons are usually extremely small numbers.

proposed change to passive
one idea is to simply buff the healing so it atleast ticks for more than healing signet.
another is to change it entirely:-
Blood Drinker: siphon health with each hit.
(this would be a small amount, but without any annoying ICDs! so by stacking multiple wells and locust swarm you could actually see some decent healing from this)

anyone have any other ideas of how we could make the signet useful?

No ICD. It just requires you to be in an Attunement that is no threat.

i’ll be trying out a crit-immune conjurer build for pvp when this patch comes.
i anticipate hitting pretty darn hard (not as hard as water attune conjurer though)

ha! last week i was buying cultural armour and exotics for an alt and needed money so i converted all of my glory AND laurels into hundreds of dyes and sold them all. :P

The meteor storm ele can come into the fight, sit back, and just unload.

can someone inform all of the thieves about this.
they don’t seem to have gotten the memo that they should just ignore us!

next time a thief kills my ele by clicking “3” twice i’ll let them know that they should let me “sit back and unload”.

there is a “feature patch” on april 15th
they’re still being quiet about what this will mean for pvp though.

but i’d guess we’ll get some form of rewards from then on.

they still haven’t said why they removed our rewards before they were ready to implement a new one though :P

bringing up warriors in a thread about “how does anet handle feedback” was probably a bad idea, because over the past 6 months there have been HUNDREDS of threads regarding warriors and over the past 6 months you have not done anything to balance them.

If this giant warrior was a mesmer, he could drop clones and block everyone’s field of vision, thus making himself and his allies more difficult to target. Asuran mesmers don’t do that.

thats true, but as i said, asuras can hide behind everything.
they don’t need a giant norn mesmer.

also norn mesmer is the only example of a race other than asura having an advantage, for every other build for every other class it is better to go asura.
even bunkers benefit from the hard to read animations.

hotjoin has been my favourite mode (before the hambow meta)
yes its a zergfest, but sometimes thats good fun!
sadly the warriors are ruining it at the moment though.

i don’t see too many decap engis in hotjoin, purely down to the zergfest nature of it,
it won’t be 1-2 people attacking the engi, it’ll be 3-4 XD

the hotjoin mode is fun, a fun zergfest.
its just the current meta put into a zerg format is a really nasty mix.
i’d trade them all for the d/d ele and 100b war metas if i could!

a simple example for those who don’t understand.
lets say a norn casts 100b (yes we rarely see 100b but i’m just using it for an example)
he’s a giant jumping around with an obvious animation, you move away.

now lets say we have an asura standing inside a bunch of minions casting 100b.
you won’t even see him, the only way you’ll know he’s using 100b is that your health will be dropping.

this is a huge advantage, and is stronger than any racial skill (which they disabled to stop race from being a factor in pvp)

People will always complain about something. If nobody is complaning, that means the game is dead.

skyhammer is just a bad map, you will find very few people complaining about maps like Foefire and Forest because they are great maps with basic secondary factors (the npc objectives)

i think with skyhammer the devs just tried too hard to make it interesting, they added too much focus on secondary factors (the instant death from falling and the unavoidable, nearly-OHK cannon) that the secondary factors play a bigger role than the actual objective.

the map has become a troll playground of knockback and pull builds.

TL;DR people complain when there is something to complain about.
thats why there is very little objection to good maps like Forest / Foefire.

thief already have spammable AoE blind that is applied every second so i’m not worried about eles getting a single blind with an internal 5 second cooldown that is only applied when you apply burning.

as for the “crit immune” trait, its only in earth attunement which makes the ele pretty weak, and eles also have the least health and armour of all classes, i don’t think this trait is worthwhile at all unless eles play some sort of dedicated earth condi build.

to be honest there need to be more hard nerfs to meta builds in this patch.

decap engis aren’t being touched.
condi wars and hambows are only getting an 8% healing signet nerf.
PW thief isn’t being touched.
atleast terrormancers are getting a nerf.

though honestly the change will pretty much remove it from use, “smite boon” style.
they should have changed it entirely.

i dunno, as a pvper i see this giving us alot of sustain,
we’ve all done it, got to low hp and used deathshroud as a “last stand” mechanic.

currently when that “last stand” ends you have a large chance of dying before you can cast your heal,
but with the few thousand health you’ll have gotten from turtling in death shroud you have a much greater chance of getting your heal off before you die.

In the same way that it was difficult to look at the September ’13 Hambow warrior and point out a single specific key to its strength, I think decap engineer is much the same.

thats the thing, Hambow doesn’t just have one single thing that makes it good.
it has the huge passive health regen.
it has high sustained damage.
it has massive amounts of CC.
and most hambow clones take stances for stability and godmode.
and lyssa runes combined with a shortish cooldown.
but don’t worry, i’m sure after 6 months, the eight percent reduction to healing signet will fix all of that!

for decap engi the single and obvious strength is their sheer amount of knockbacks.
in a game with only a single pvp mode (being point capture) the ability to continuously knock 2-3 people from a point is incredibly powerful.

though i can’t see how you could remove the knockbacks without effecting PVE,
unless you split the skills for pve and pvp

unlike Decap Engineers, Pistol Whip doesn’t ruin entire game-modes.

agreed with this, in a game with only one mode (point capture) one build being able to continuously keep a point contested against 2-3 people is just baaaaad balance.

though pistol whip is a seriously broken skill,
one button no cooldown.
a stun, an evade, and a high damage cleave.

i’d still rather face a pistol whipping nub than a hambow nub though :P

what could they honestly say right now that would make any difference? anything they say will be met with hostility, so rather than instigate or even unintentionally antagonize it’s probably smarter to lay low and let things cool down.

well they could answer some of the questions above, like at which point was it decided that lower rank players will receive far more rewards than players who have dedicated thousands of hours getting to higher ranks.
(a rank 70 player requires 2900% more effort to get the same reward as a rank 30)
things that just seem to make no sense at all that people have asked about.

i know that this is just a placeholder reward system until they actually release the feature patch, but honestly couldn’t they do better?!
increase the gold, give mystic coffers after each game,
anything but this half thought through, backwards system.

players are feeling utterly left in the dark with both no rewards and no explanations.

A warrior doesn’t burst for 7-9k with running healing signet to its max. Don’t kid yourself.

War’s regen is obnoxious, but it is getting nerfed as well on the upcoming patch, on the other hand this obnoxious trait is being ignored. A warrior cannot heal for 1000 hp/sec for example.

actually its around 700 hps on my spvp hammer war with a zerker build and adrenal healing at 3 bars
(and yes, when dogged march ticks also it is around 1000hps),
and all of this requires no stealth skills or you to stop attacking like thieves,
its constant and permanent without any input needed atall.

meanwhile pretty much every skill on my bar CCs and does 3-4k damage.

thieves that are regenning health won’t be attacking and they’re relying on using skills and surviving while they’re visible and squishy.

the warrior never activates his healing skills, they just heal away while he rolls his face across the keyboard.

i’m not saying that the thieves regen traits aren’t OP,
i’m just saying that wars are even more OP.

i’ve noticed that since the removal of our rewards yesterday
(and the backlash explosion on the forum) the devs haven’t wrote anything.

did anet accidentally delete the pvp devs when they deleted all of the other pvp content?

but on a serious note, why are you folks so silent?
of all times to shut off all communications with the pvp community now is probably the worst,
I thought you guys would be all over the place attempting to settle the tension with hints and teases about your fabled feature patch coming “soon” but instead you’ve chose total and utter silence.

are you trying some form of backwards tactics?
remove all rewards and sever communications = a good strategy somehow?

some people have posted legitimately good questions, such as asking why you chose to remove rewards before you were ready to implement new ones?
why are low ranks being rewarded more than high ranks in this filler system?
(the higher your rank the less you are rewarded)

honestly though with the dire state of pvp i don’t think removing all form of reward is the best move…infact i don’t see any logic behind it what-so-ever.

i really thought we’d be getting some form of currency to spend this patch, perhaps wvw tokens or something, i really didn’t expect they’d just remove our currency and leave us with nothing.

if the feature patch is really so great then they should just remove glory then not now.

right now they’ve just left an already poorly regarded game mode feeling like even more of a waste of time.

you know what? i’m actually gonna try skyhammer farming since thats what Anet seem to want us to do.

the changes to things like Fresh Air have given eles a one-trick-pony playstyle,

they have a build that can almost instantly kill anything but if that one shot is dodged or blocked then the ele is still pretty much the free kill they’ve always been.

still in the jumble of AI minions and clones its hard to spot a tiny asura casting their one shot combo, so it can sometimes be quite effective.

also if they take fiery greatsword they get access to another gimmick one shot :P
but thankfully i rarely see it used in pvp
(the FGS exploit)

not sure if its related but i’ve also had odd stomp behavior lately,
like people stomping from much greater distance, i even stomped a thief a moment after he’d teleported, he actually travelled but still got stomped where he landed (pretty far away)
