i’ve played full glass staff zerker in spvp since beta and up until recently i’ve considered it really potent.
the change to metoershow though has absolutely decimated it, if any minions, pets, healing turrets or anything else that isn’t a player gets hit then the damage is screwed…

seriously Anet, if raid bosses with huge hitboxes are an issue SPLIT THE SKILL FOR PVE.

definitely GW1, having access to 2 professions and some crazy synergies allowed for some pretty kitten crazy characters,
like 55 hp monks who were INVINCIBLE without disenchantment,
or perma shadowform assassins who were utterly unattackable,
GW1 trap rangers could place 20 traps in one spot, stepping on it means instant death,
a GW1 Edge of Extinction ranger in GW2s WvW would kill everyone,

GW1 minion masters could have their own personal army of minions and wash over enemies, until later in the games life there was no minion cap, instead minions had health degeneration, but with the right build you could negate it and keep your army alive.

Gw2 “Confusion” condi? pff! in GW1 mesmers could bury you under 3-4 “if you attack you take damage” hexes, swing 3 times and you’re dead!

the healers could reduce damage to minute amounts,
while also having huge spammable heals.

each GW1 class would utterly destroy their GW2 shadows.

i am assuming for the sake of argument that health pools and damage are percentages since GW1 used different numbers.

its a problem with your class/build,
it seems that every episode glasscannon thieves come to the forum to say it is too hard,
i do all of my PVE on necro and have never had to retry anything,
not mordremoth, not caudecus, not hounds.

if they nerfed the fights then anyone who isn’t a thief would be complaining that it is way too faceroll.

i’m sure thieves must have atleast one build that lets you do it as easily as the rest of us.

agreed with the OP, i’d love for them to make lots of simple armours, hell, give my norn warrior a loincloth and i’m good to go, conan style.

the fact that they spend 2 years making these sets is ridiculous,
and what do we end up with?
we end up with an over the top anime mech suit for heavy,
a trenchcoat indistinguishable from the others for medium
and light looking much like all of the other long dresses, just with huge obnoxious spikes stuck on it…

that is really 2 years of work? yep, that loincloth is looking mighty good right now.

and even then there is the fact that most of use won’t even be able to obtain these ugly monstrocities because they’re locked behind the raidwall.

tl;dr
don’t waste time making 3 over the top ugly sets that are only obtainable to raiders,
make plenty of simple armours, easily obtainable.

Considering how bursty this game is, toughness desperately needs a redesign and to apply (perhaps especially) to condition damage.

Why?

obvious really, if you’re focusing on toughness and being tanky you’d expect it to be tanky to all damage, condis ignoring toughness is stupid.

i play zerkers and its not uncommon for one downed enemy to turn in to 2-3 finished enemies because they tried rezzing inside my damage

It’s awsome when you’re a Warrior and they try to rez through 100b + Arc Slice.

i even play full glass fire staff ele in unranked sometimes for fun and i’ll have people standing under 7k ticking meteor showers, in a 5k ticking lava font while i hurl 4k damage fireballs at them….and they expect to finish rezzing XD

Sadly Grenth has no outfit yet and neither does Kormir and Melandru.
But you can kinda create your own Grenth outfit since we do have the Hood.

i can confirm that Orr armour works particularly well for a grenth suit

any of the smaller races, i don’t like asura for anything though so i’d pick sylvari/human.
i do have a charr theif who i use for a bound/vault build so they don’t need to be stealthy since they’re all about in your face slam slam XD

norns and big charr are a no no :P

the current Anet is a farcry from the brilliant guys who made GW1,
things like 55hp monks which utilised spells to become borderline immortal would be considered exploiting by these fakers, these shadows of Anet.

they should be encouraging people to find fun and unique synergies.

i’d hope by now that Anet have learnt that all we want is simple pvp,
look at what happened with skyhammer, it was cancerous, we all dispised it,
holes in the floor for cheese builds to abuse, a huge cannon for someone to kill people across the map, no no NO!
its only now that they’ve removed everything from skyhammer that made it skyhammer is it tolerable.

its nice to see in the new capricorn and coliseum that less focus is on stupid secondary mechanics.

my turret wishlist would be to:
remove the duration, while not really a problem for most of the game, PVP revolves around defending a point, and it sucks when my turrets randomly die after 5 mins.
(apparently the duration was added to fix a bug during the early days)

yes, as OP suggested, give them back their auto repair, it could be bundled in a trait if need be.

allow them to crit! (based on precision of the engi)
when turrets were changed from being counted as objects (which caused them to be uncrittable and immune to condis) the devs didn’t give them the ability to crit, so now you can be running the most crittastic build in the world and your turrets will never do anything other than flat non-crit damage.

i will add that i still do play unranked Spvp as my turret engi, and it is still fun,
but i know it isn’t really practical.

it would be good if they’d pick a direction and go with it.
it WAS a fantastic power weapon, but now its a wishy-washy weapon
it is neither good at power nor condi but dabbles in both.

please anet, either make the flamethrower a weapon that excels at stacking burning, or give it back its power, currently its a hybrid mess that is only valuable to very specific hybrid builds.

i get that you wanted to remove RNG so you scrapped Fire/air, i’m not happy about that, but i get it.

but why’d you also remove Force and Accuracy?!

I agree with the Ayrilana and Randulf. It was this way in GW1, and I liked it then. I like it in GW2, as well. I’m sorry that you lost your old characters, though.

i wish we got tradeable random everlasting tonics though like we did in GW1’s later years
it was brilliant that if you stopped playing for awhile you could come back and get a nice bit of extra cash from several characters birthdays

i made a character named “Jade Sea Hatchling” and played through the whole game as a dragon

i’ve been playing SD rifle engi for years, been oneshotting folks for years! XD
i love it!

warrior rifle is funny as heck with a killshot build when they can pull it off,
though you’re right about rarely seeing anyone doing it,
like my static discharge build it is a bit of a one trick pony.

Team players have already been banned from Ranked, and everyone tells them to go play Unranked. Now you want them removed from Unranked too?

imho it is totally backwards that structured teams are allowed in unranked but not ranked, one is supposed to be a casual experience the other is supposed to be more elite and focused entirely on the win.
it makes sense for people to want their ranked team to all be on voice chat and have as much advantage as possible, in unranked it is just lame.

i agree with shox, the majority of my unranked matches seem to have guilds farming with their meta builds, it sucks.

i think it is partly due to Anet’s approach to balancing,
if they released regular balance patches i don’t think people would QQ
because there is always next time,
but when you only get 3 balance patches a year,
first there is the hype buildup, plenty of potential awesome changes going through your head,
then it can be disappointing to see 4 months of balance “work” turn out to be mediocre changes,
and then there is the sting of knowing that it is all you’re getting for another 4 months.

i can see why people will be sour about not getting changes they’d like or changes that need to happen in the thrice-yearly balance patch.

i’m not sure about adding sustain to the damage trait line, but the trait certainly does seem a little underwhelming currently.

i think an awesome buff to further boost the pure damage focus of the fire tree would be this:

Pyromancer’s Puissance
Each skill you use while attuned to fire grants you might.
Gain 10 Ferocity for each stack of might you have.

this would mean you have a potential max of +250 ferocity, which gives you 16% bonus crit damage, ontop of already hitting really really hard from having 25 might stacks :P

the 66% damage nerf to #2 did seem a little bit odd, the kit is not a condi kit.
adding one stack of burning won’t make it a viable condi kit, if you want condis grab your nades!
flamethrower WAS quite a decent power kit, the AA is still “ok” but its bomb kit all the way now, shame i loved the synergy of scrapper trait line with the FT.

Marjory’s gets my vote too,
rather than a dagger you wield a sort of green spectral tentacle whip which is cool for a necro!

i’ve been having a blast with full zerker hammer in unranked for years,
#2#5 F1 and the autos already hit really really hard on a zerker spec,
when i saw 20% damage increases and a whopping FIFTY PERCENT increase on Rupturing Smash i jumped for joy, many heads are going to be exploded this weekend XD

i just hope if more people join us for hammer madness the increased exposure won’t lead to nerfs to the silently epic weapon

removing everything that made skyhammer skyhammer (annoying as hell) was a really great move imho.
i’ll agree i’m not a fan of the khylo change, unlike skyhammer which had a thread of over 2000 people saying “this is stupid/annoying…” i don’t think i’ve seen anyone complain about khylo.
infact my only criticism is that the trebs should have been removed,
and this change has made it easier to repair them.

i thought the pet was implied from AFK farming since it isn’t really possible without a pet build (ranger/MM necro)
it still stands, the dev explicitly said it is fine for your pet to do the killing and your mastery to do the looting.
