you could also look at staff ele
you mentioned not being in to melee,
you like damage, you also want to be able to support
;)
yes! anet, stop working on the next 10 cashgrab outfits you plan on releasing and start working on something we want!
build templates should have been in from the start,
especially as a pvper i thought they’d come with the UI overhaul.
i dunno, i think there are quite a few oldschool specs that could give the elites a difficult time.
Engie: i’m still playing rifle SD and still oneshotting people.
Guard: i’m sticking with burns and still melting faces.
thouse are just 2 off the top of my head,
but i’ve only incorporated the elites into a few of my chars and i’m still having fun.
(not getting my butt kicked every fight)
i don’t use traps on my guard either, but i play full burn build (which is arguably worse!)
hellno! hambow meta was the worst.
condi meta was close.
i actually prefer trap guards than last meta’s burn guards.
yep for greatsword buffs! i’ve been playing a GS ranger in unranked pvp really (mostly from boredom, not because i think its massively effective) and the autos are really weak.
i’d rather lose the rng evade completely if it meant for more auto damage.
yeah, the bug has been around forever, happened to me the other night during the second match of what i hoped would be a good few hours of pvp…
even coming back an hour later you’re still stuck in the match.
c’mon anet fix it already!
i have absolutely no problem with someone sacrificing EVERYTHING in order to achieve a 20k hit under absolute perfect conditions, it just means outside of those absolute perfect conditions (which is most of the time) they’re a free kill.
i play only zerkers, always have, always will, and i can kill people in an instant on almost any class.
sacrificing everything for a small burst of huge damage is nothing new.
my SD engi has been oneshotting people for years, but people don’t cry OP because its split over 4-5 4k crits all hitting at once,
the warrior can only use one skill at a time so they have one big number, and one big number scares people more than 5 smaller numbers that work exactly the same…
the game hyas ended but we’re stuck in the match, relogging simply puts you back in the match…
this bug has been around for far too long, fix it!
theres loads of lore in GW
Palawa Joko would make a great condi spirit
personally i’d love to see a “mischief” spec based around distraction and interrupts, using Gwen as the spirit
if you can’t deal <2k direct damage to them you should go home and rethink your life.

wolf is a mandatory in one of the 2 slots imho. between the knockdown and the fear it is an AMAZING pet!
my other slot is usually black widow, 2 immobilizes and a poison
also ranged attacks so the pet doesn’t get nuked down (and its attacks actually hit)
signed, SIGNED! i’d sign it a million times if i could, finally courtyard is gone, time for suckhammer to kick the bucket too.
the map is an abomination that should never have made it past alpha testing.
if someone picks suckhammer,
i’ll run a stealth pull/KB build and dedicate the entire game to ruining their fun.
(if i can get the idiot who picked it to own up, usually noone wants to admit it.)
(edited by Liewec.2896)
call me old fashioned but i’m still QQing about suckhammer STILL being in unranked rotation
as bunji pointed out, the lack of cleave/aoe will drive you insane in PVE (especially in event zergs)
the only 2 constant multi-target options i can see are:
thief shortbow (hits 3 targets has an instant cooldown aoe)
engi mortar (big aoes)
the rest usually have 1-2 aoe skills but they’re on cooldowns,
not handy for tagging mobs.
Without giving anything away,
If you have your warbler on you when you go later in the story with the Nuhoch in the Tangled Depths, you’ll get a bit of dialogue from a Nuhoch who has some strong opinions about your warbler.
It’s pretty funny.
i loved that bit, it was like you’d just spat on his ancestors XD
It’s not about communities, you can find stupid or helping people anywhere.
^ this
if i was still playing WoW i’d still be running low level players through the dungeons (“instances” to them) to help them level up, i found helping people was one of the most fun things in that game.
i’d keep them incase they started making cool birthday gifts like in gw1
(endless combat tonics, they sold for a heck of a lot.)
you’re rolling around with 15k hp, i play zerkers too so i know they’re fun
but don’t complain when die fast. :S

This is all I get
exactly! its prime time and this is my one night off this week >_<
i’d hope there was a GM to help us!
for over an hour queueing for pvp will give you a message that a new patch is available, but it isn’t
PLEASE FIX! ty!
LOL 1,5k…broken?
burning says hello.
the only possible way i could think of 1,5k chill being dangerous is if you made a very specific build with, Terror and Shivers of Dread in a terrormancer build, maybe throw in Dhuumfire
(edited by Liewec.2896)
as a solo player this has actually been a nice buff for me :P
YES, sick of one guy picking suckhammer, everyone else picking a decent map and suckhammer always getting selected.
glad campyard has gone atleast,
now they just need to remove the abomination that is hammer.
or even better, an armour skin,
for those of us who are starving for new armour skins and sick of seeing new cash-grab outfits being churned out every week!
i hope they let ancient seeds trigger from spike trap, i posted a bug report but i think it might be more of a balance thing,
imagine immobilizing and causing 5 stacks of bleed on someone while they’re on top of your traps? pretty epic XD
too exploitable, take for example an AoE skill with a target cap of 5,
a MM with a full bar of minions (6 if you’re using horrors) has a 13% chance to avoid the damage completely, meanwhile the minions will be taking barely any damage (200 damage from a meteor shower crit that would have hit you for 4k)
not to mention that a full bar of traited minions deals pretty darn impressive damage!
unless you plan on taking them out one at a time they’d be pretty much invulnerable to you, the necro could just kite while his minions nuke you down with their aoe immortality.
(edited by Liewec.2896)
i had a pretty easy time doing the HoT story and general HoT world PVE
i was running a full zerker geared blighter’s boon reaper using Spite, Soulreaping and Reaper with emphasism on vulnerability and might stacking.
spike trap, snake trap and fire trap, stack them up and watch your enemy melt in 3 seconds.
plus they all have really short CDs
when they fix the bug thats stopping Ancient Seed from proccing off Spike Trap it will be a truly terrifying combo, immobilized with a massive stack of bleeds ontop of 3 traps
[Spoiler] So when you first saw the end boss for HoT...

in the word of Anakin Skywalker: “You’re shorter than i expected.”
especially after we got that awesome cinematic with the huuuuuuge mordremoth.
revception!
they’d invoke a spirit who invokes a spirit!
There is nothing irrelevant about it. The price of ‘things’ is determined by the business model. Anet doesn’t have a subscription; they have also released content for free. Did your Burning Crusasde do that for you? The comparison you made is nonsense.
so your reasoning as to why the expansion has barely 20% of the content of WoW’s first expansion at release is “well they’ve given stuff for free”?
i hope i’m misunderstanding you because that is a terrible argument.
the comparison isn’t nonsense,
i paid £30 for an expansion, one was worth the price,
the other was 2 armour sets and 4 small maps.
People want an xpac to be as big as the original game? That’s not how it works, especially in an MMO.
funny but when i bought Burning Crusade i got a ton of new armours as random world drops, several new instances, all with new armour skins and weapon skins and a massive new continent. in total there were probably around 30 new armour sets, 5 instances and 3 raids on release, oh and 2 new races.
THAT is what i expect from a £30 expansion.
And 15$ a month. Not to mention the 2 games are very different models.
the subscription fee is irrelevant, i’m talking about the initial release, not the content added over time.
initial release had tons of new armour skins, several dungeons and a massive new continent.
that is what you should expect from an expansion with a premium pricetag.

i’m not too bothered about spirit watch, but Failhammer should not be in the unranked rotation, Campyard needs removing too.
it utterly sucks when 7 people unanimously vote for a DECENT map but that one guy playing a troll engi or terrormancer picks Failhammer, you know it will always be picked…
the selection should be weighted in a way that one player can not ruin fifteen minutes for seven others by picking the abomination that should have never made it to live servers.
these sets all match the appearance of GW1 dervish avatars, so you can expect a few more
i just wish they were armour skins and not costumes, i’d love to mix and match the gloves and boots of some with standard legs and chest armour
imho the let down was that they switched to this whole “dream” idea,
i was hoping to fight a big dang dragon, like a raid boss (even if it was solo in story with NPCs) instead we have a mob whos weaker than a veteren bristleback lol XD
it would be very very annoying if these were easy to get and everyone had them.
i don’t plan on making them myself but i’m glad they wont be something you’ll see very often.
i run Spite, Soul Reaping, Reaper with a strength sigils
in reaper shroud every swing is pretty much proccing 4 stacks of might,
meaning either a nice bit of healing or 4% life force.
with the right build Blighter’s Boon is awesome!
i hope they realize that most of us are happy with the expansion,
you can see the hard work that went in to the story, the art and the elite specs,
i hope they don’t mistake our posts about the things that could use tweaking/changing as our overall view of the expansion.
one thing anyway, next expansion should be utterly flawless since they got so much of it right this time and will leave out the masteries mistakes they made this time around
don’t pick the darkest dye you can find if you don’t want things looking pitch black XD
try standard abyss or go even lighter
all i see from this is “black is too black!”
the story is amazing,
i love the new lack of “wall of text” dialogue boxes to randomly next-next-next-ok through, instead our character speaks and is spoken to in voice.
the mobs are amazing,
tough, all with their own strengths and things to watch out for.
the art is amazing,
the jungle looks incredible, the mobs look incredible, the new weapons too look awesome.
one downside is the lack of new armour skins,
its an expansion, and a pricey one at that,
i’d expect atleast 10 new armour sets per weight class, not 6 total (2 per weight class)
it was masteries that have killed everything.
masteries halted the story.
masteries halted the hero points.
tl;dr
Pros:
Story+Voicing, no walls of text to read!
Mobs and bosses new mechanics
Combat difficulty
Visuals
Cons
lack of armour skins
mandatory XP grinds
“We’ve had a lot of really positive reactions to our new take on endgame progression with our Mastery system.”
hashtagTrollFace
also i already grinded out the 315 hero points that i needed for the grandmaster trait (which i needed to be able to make my build viable) and now i’ve burnt out and only log in for the daily log in reward…little too late for me.
imho the point requirement wasn’t an issue, it was putting the hero points behind master grind-walls which was the issue, 40 accessible hero challenges would be no trouble and enjoyable.

i get that more armour variety = higher render load, but thats a shoddy excuse.
i get that releasing them as a one piece means they don’t have to add icons and thumbnail text, but thats a shoddy excuse.
if they’d simply break them in to sections, make a quick thumbnail icon and a little text for each of them and turn them in to skins THEY WOULD MAKE A LOT OF MONEY!
1/10 people wants to be a one-piece clone,
though i think most of us have multiple outfits that we’d be buying TOMORROW if they made them in to skins.
TAKE OUR MONEY ANET! make skins, not costumes!
offtopic:
i agree with the others, releasing a pitiful 2 armour sets per weight from kitten expansion and then having the audacity to try to sell 2 costumes is pretty below the belt, the effort put into churning out those 2 cash-grabs could have been put into making extra armour sets.
(edited by Liewec.2896)
agreed!
i don’t care what you’re asking for but anything that removes one instance of “Grenth! I call upon your power!” is a good change imho! XD
i’m running a zerker Blighter’s boon might/vulnerability build
the 2 empty skill slots are optional, signet is optional too i guess, but i like the speed and can’t live without that signet!
Might:
every swing against a target under 50% has a chance to grant might 3 times (4 in RS)
above 50% every swing has a chance to grant 2 stacks of might (3 in RS)
each of those might stacks grants healing or life force when it is applied,
this means in normal form you’ll fill your lifeforce really fast,
in reaper shroud you’ll heal a ton of health.
you also have pretty much perma 25 stacks
Vulnerability:
3 stacks pulsed every 3 seconds in RS, also 1 stack applied every hit in RS
caused every hit on a target under 33%
i’m also using the human racial Reaper of Grenth
not only does it fit thematically perfect, but it also pulses aoe chill for 15 seconds,
which grants you loads of benefits (like applying might when you hit them, and receiving 10% less damage from them.)
with this build you deal a ton of damage, in normal form you build life form FAST,
in reaper shroud you heal your health pool FAST.
it feels really amazing with such trait synergy
(edited by Liewec.2896)
To expect to be able to buy the expansion and clear all the content in a daymor two, just because you are level 80 is quite frankly ridiculous,
you folks claiming that “that” is what we want is what annoys me.
noone wants to finish all of the content in 2 days.
what people want is for the short term things (like unlocking elite spec and progressing personal story) to not be gated behind the stuff that is designed to take months upon months (the mastery system).
long term content is currently blocking progress of the short term content,
that’s why people are annoyed.
10/10 at first, credit were credit is due, the maps and mobs look amazing
and the fights are more challenging and interesting, but…
then i hit my first “grind xp to continue!”
then it was 8/10 until i hit my second “grind xp to continue”
5/10 as i started to get bored of “grind xp to continue”
now its 3/10 ever since i hit the “grind FIVE MILLION xp to continue”.
it might pick up once i unlock reaper, but guess what “grind xp to continue!”
4/10 I could provide my reasons but I don’t have the mastery for that yet.
you just won the internet!
