I can easily imagine that outfits are deliberately designed to be seamless and so require far less art and technical QA than armor pieces.
how do you respond to a comment CLEARLY SHOWING SEPARATE OUTFIT PIECES with a comment about how they are seamless and not viable as separate armour pieces…
What you don’t get that outfits aren’t made of individual pieces riding over the same framework that armor pieces attach to
WOW goldfish much? i told you that outfits WERE ALREADY IN PARTS before the wardrobe update,
Mad King’s Mask
Mad King’s Coat
Mad King’s Gloves
Mad King’s Boots
and i’ve already told you that there is no different cut off points except the stomach,
and i’ve already told you that stomach cut off points for in-game armour sets are often simply cut in half. (designed for you using both chest and legs part of the same armour set, but can be mixed with others)
and yes, the plate outfit and dress outfit are worn as one big weight-class destroying set, but that changes nothing, their existence still proves that visual weight classes have been thrown entirely out of the window.
if your ele can wear a full set of plate as an outfit then there is absolutely no argument to be had for not adding armour skins that aren’t considered in a certain weight class.
we already have Lawless gloves and boots which are plate armour skins which your ele can wear.
there is NO reason why outfit components cannot be turned into armour skins,
you’re simply arguing for the sake of arguing now.
(edited by Liewec.2896)
You didn’t debunked anything, you simply ignored it.
or you ignored me.
“Clipping”
i pointed out that there are SO MANY armours that have massive clipping issues, the sleeves of the Arah cloth chest for example are notoriously clippy, were they released?
YES, do plenty of people still love them and use them? YES.
so clipping isn’t an issue.
“Visual Weight Classes”
i pointed out that you can already get your Ele to wear Plate and your Warrior can wear A Dress , so “keeping visual weight classes” is another defunct argument.
“different weight classes separate at different points!”
I pointed out that NO the only part that separates at a different point is the stomach line, and there are PLENTY of armours in the game for each weight class which were crudely cut at that point,
i even gave you the example of Grasping Dead armour, but you can also check out the tattoos on several Light Armours where the tattoo just stops.
so again, the “you wouldn’t be able to separate them into pieces for each weight class” argument is a no-go.
all of your reasons why outfits can’t be skins already apply to current armour skins which are in game right now so obviously your arguments are wrong.
“they clip” “they separate oddly” “they don’t suit the weight class”
ALL of these already apply to armours in the game.
Except they were town clothes which only mix matched with other town clothes and not armor.
and why does that matter?
i’ve already debunked the “clipping” argument, the “different cut off points” argument and the “visual weight classes” argument.
some town clothes head pieces have already been converted to armour skins so it isn’t like it is impossible…
honestly its like you guys are simply trying to make excuses for not having a massive heap of extra customisation options, or arguing for arguing sake, the thing i don’t get is why?
signed!
people shouldn’t be bringing up real life hammers, because they would look utterly pathetic in an RPG.
you want a monolithic weapon that will make the six Gods run and hide!
SMAASH!
I don’t think some understand that the three different armor weights don’t separate in the same place. One ends up with either overlapping armor, or armor missing in some areas. That’s why Outfits can’t ‘just be separated into individual pieces’.
except that argument fails because before the wardrobe system outfits WERE in separate parts.
Mad King’kitten
Mad King’s Coat
Mad King’s Gloves
Mad King’s Boots
the only section that cuts in a different position for different weights is the stomach line.
but i can show you several ingame armours with odd cut offs due to design
Grasping Dead Armour for example is simply cut in half at an odd location but the armours can still be mixed with others fairly well.
so they should do the same with the stomach cut off of outfits, simply split it where they need to for each weight.
Firstly, there are light/Med/and Heavy that would need to be made vs 1 outfit – that’s three times the work before we’ve even started.
as i said that is nonsense.
when your Ele can wear Plate and your Warrior can wear A Dress there is no argument left for visual weight classes.
so they can just make ONE outfit as usual and just separate it into sections, gloves, body, legs, boots, shoulders, head and release those identical parts for all 3 weight classes.
just like the Lawless Glove Skin which are exactly the same across all 3 weights.
clipping is also a bad argument, i could go into the game right now and create the ultimate Clip-o-phile, we already have so many things that massively clip.
so saying something can’t be added because it might clip is nonsense.
the ONLY extra work between outfit and armour is the thumbnail picture, the text, chopping the outfit in to sections and then coding the items.
With Armor Skins, they have to commit about 9 months to complete each set because each individual piece must not only be designed, but they must also put a skeleton for each component so that it will work with each race.
thats absolute nonsense.
the amount of work designing a suit as either a set or a onepiece is almost EXACTLY the same, both need to be fitted to each race.
the only extra work comes when it is time to make an easy thumbnail a bit of text,
and breaking the outfit into sections, thats it.
Anet is missing out on a goldmine, personal i’d have bought pretty much EVERY “outfit” if i could just use separate parts of it.
and no they don’t need to bother with making seperate sets for different weight classes, outfits already threw visual weight classes out the window.
when your Ele can wear Plate and your Warrior can wear A Dress there is no argument left for visual weight classes.
just keep making outfits, but also sell them as armour skin sets, simple.
the people who want a lazy one-piece/ leveling skin are happy
and the people who want more armour skins are happy,
and anet will be churning in cash.
i’d love for Flesh Golem to look like the GW1 Flesh Golem
it was so much cooler than the current one.
i think its time that they change the way outfits work completely so we can use separate parts.
this would solve your “i don’t like a certain part” problem
(and also send outfit sales through the roof, because the majority of outfits will have atleast a little bit that you’ll want!)
yeah, everyone running around with bright pink anime hair, sunglasses, wings, glowing hands etc…
it really takes from the immersion of a realistic fantasy world.
i used to love playing funky weird builds,
i agree that build diversity was one of the things that GW1 had better than any other game i’ve played.
totally off topic but also one thing that GW1 did better than anything i’ve seen since was arrows and how they worked when fired from up high, they would travel further and deal more damage, it made holding the high ground feel awesome!
easiest way is still to buy t6 mats with laurels and then sell them on the TP.
if you have a glut of laurels, convert them to a nice chunk of gold
most of the outfits could very easily be broken up into sections,
(though i suspect they already are in sections)
all they’d really need to make are thumbnails and text.
past excuses were things like “clipping issues” which fails because there are plenty of current armours that clip, its not a big deal,
“we don’t want to allow classes to wear armour that looks like a different weight class.” which fails because of outfits like Royal Guard and Monk which already let classes wear an unlikely armour set.
more armours, less outfits!!!! its been requested so many times.
The ghostly spirit of Eir was spotted the other night, wandering the mists.
fading in and out.
eerie!
i found it a breeze with zerker reaper necro,
basic blighters boon build using Spite/Soulreaping/Reaper
based around apply might to self and vuln/chill to enemy.
it has awesome damage and awesome sustain,
25 stacks of perma might and 25 stacks of vuln
for gear i go full zerker with strength runes and a strength sigil for constant might applications (also bloodlust, because why not? XD)
i was only using exotics, i’m too casual for ascended :P
well there goes my entire pvp build.
UA was the cornerstone of my build and the main reason i was playing condi rev, stack 2-3 UAs in place and it causes some serious area denial (or major damage for anyone foolish enough to enter)
i guess its time to play boring hamzerker again until its fixed.
FIX IT ANET! :O
too much for one slot,
invulnerability and daze from earth shield,
icebow stun and aoe combo,
fireaxe firefields and blast finishers and evade,
and lightning hammers AOE stun field and knockback,
all of that on one button would be a little bit OP
(especially on a class with access to 30 skills) :P
some maps maybe should have been separate (like old skyhammer and spirit watch)
but capricorn is less different, its a very standard conquest map. (which is great imho)
so i don’t see why it would need a separate queue.
i’d like everlasting combat tonics like we had in GW1
they opened up so many new opportunities, they could be maintained indefinitely and used everywhere (except pvp ofcourse)
i had one character who was exclusively a small dragon using kuunevang tonic , i gave them a dragon name and went through the whole story using dragony skills (as an ele)
please please anet give us back birthday combat tonics!
Changing SD to PBAoE would kill what’s left from rifle, but they should totally change the trait how Josa said. This behaviour is probably one of the weirdest skill behaviour among all classes…
^this
i play my rifle SD engi every time i log on for a pvp play, it still kicks all kinda butt!
turning it into a PBAoE would kill that spec for me.
have you tried updating the program and your graphics card?
i use shadowplay every time i play and its working fine,
the only thing i can suggest is updating things
it should be good as long as they remember the secret to a good map is SIMPLICITY.
people didn’t like spirit watch because the orb was too important, people don’t like stronghold because its an entirely different mode, people didn’t like skyhammer because…everything.
people love forest and foefire because they have very small secondary mechanics,
no trebuchets, no insta-death fall mechanics.
make capricorn simple and it’ll be great.
you can have fun in unranked on some classes,
vanilla S/D engi can still oneshot people,
several necro specs can be great too, i play a d/w necro with blood magic and well and it does pretty well.
ofcourse this is all in unranked however :P
No.
If you missed the event you do not deserve the reward.
oh really?
I would actually be ok with fused and sclerite weapons coming back.
but you missed your shot, clearly you don’t deserve a chance to get them.
i WAS all for prestige, PVE and PVP had relics of the past, long unnobtainable rewards,
but now that the PVP rewards have been rereleased it is only fair that the PVE ones are rereleased too.
it is odd that it is the hardest to land auto, but also not particularly strong,
logically you’d expect the hardest to land auto to also be the strongest.
Since the Devs have finally caved and re-released long-unobtainable PVP rewards,
can you also rerelease the plethora of unobtainable past PVE rewards?
i see no reason why PVEers have been given access to Tribal armour but PVPers can’t access Wings of the Sunless or Air-Filtration-Device for example.
(edited by Moderator)
if it was 75% outgoing dmg than I might take it, but 25%…shame shame shame.
agreed,
traits aside to get any decent heal out of Litany you’d need to deal something like 30,000 damage in 6 seconds. (5000 dps)
i use them, only in pvp for a ridiculously high sustain build,
they do need an update though, have they even been touched since release? powercreep has left them long behind,
Vigorous Shouts for example should heal for way more, classes now click a button and deal 8k dmg, 1k healing on shouts is pretty awful for a grandmaster.
i’d guess that people playing during the day will be better,
the logic being that they aren’t in school/jobs so they will be able to spend all day playing,
people who only play at nights won’t be as hardcore.
imho a/a was so much better when you could dodge roll while channelling it,
the skill its self dealt a little bit less damage, but the overall damage was massive when you threw in reckless dodge, plus you were evading for pretty much the whole channel
I want a bikini made of animal skins & furr and teeth and bones.
yus! savage loincloth/animalist style
i use pretty much the same build in unranked PVP, its awesome,
the only real difference i have is using bone fiend instead of the shadow fiend
norn with reaper hood and Arah gear!
they’re the ultimate grim reapers and when they enter reaper form they get a 20ft scythe XD
my only advice is to get Bounding Dodger!
it gives you 10% more damage (which is always nice)
but also access to stealth on demand from blackpowder+dodge
LACK OF SKINS
add 20 new sets for each weight,
add a bunch of new weapons skins for each weapon.
and no matter how short the story is, no matter if there are only 3 maps,
or if the OP new professions make it a mandatory purchase for PVP,
i’ll still be happy as long as we get more skins! (read: more than 3)
this game needs WAY MORE sexy armours! i want my war to look like Red Sonja
as said, foefire and forest are the favourites because the devs didn’t try to hard to add annoying extras like catapults, trebuchets, skyhammers or insta death fall mechanics.
simple maps with none of the annoying extras
sarcasm aside, they finally let us unlock the new expansion armours through pvp,
pretty great change
yep still good, and still the most versatile with builds that work,
the worst player in the world could play a reaper MM and kick some serious butt
gaming 101, don’t post fun harmless bugs on the forums!
they always get patched out shortly after :P
in this game it happened with the mesmer tonic clones,
the legendary effect stacking, (multiple times every time someone revealed how to pull it off, that method would be patched.)
also the infinite animation looping glitch was patched within days of a forum post revealing how to do it.
it has happens in almost every other game that i’ve played too!
i love void jumping in LA so i’m hoping it doesn’t get patched!
i think a loooong overdue change would be finally making Smite a symbol!
no.
its like anything, there is a scale,
on one side you have ultimate damage, on the other you have ultimate survivability.
most like to hover somewhere in the middle.
i mainly play zerker GS, completely down the “ultimate damage” end of the scale (strength/arms/berserker), it is far from useless because i enter a fight and start smashing out ridiculous damage (my highest 100b in Spvp was 32k), things die FAST.
however the lack of defensive traits and utilities obviously means i’m far squishier than more balanced wars, so to counteract this i take sword/shield as my “escape” set (complete with hydromancy+energy sigils to snare enemies and grant me an extra dodge roll)
escaping the fight to come back and wreck faces later has worked out very well for me so far,
so imho its all how you play, if you want to be able to stay in the fight dealing OKish damage then yes, adrenal health is mandatory for you, but if you want to play a damage dealing monster then there are ways to work around the lack of defence
tl:dr nope it isn’t mandatory, you can work around lack of survivability.
environmental weapons are a bad idea on any map,
personally i’d change the treb to a weird transport thing,
one person jumps in and the trebber can launch them across the map.
or if the current trebs really must stay then give them a lengthy cooldown.
i get nostaligic about a lot of things (like 8v8 pvp, full template customization)
but capricorn was the worst map back then,
it had every gimmick i don’t want to see.
NPCs, water combat, long range environmental weapons.
plus one of the points was underwater, forcing people to play that thoroughly flawed side of the game.
finishers? naaaah XD

MM necro gets my vote, followed by staff guard
you know you’re in trouble when…
the match ends and you are imprisoned in the battleground unable to leave :P
for reference!
to be honest though i hadn’t even noticed that the stretch was removed,
if my character is standing around long enough for it to happen it usually means that i’m not at my computer :P
