i best enjoy my Bounding Dodger Vault spam while i can,
i sense nerfs on the horizon!
Devs actually gave it the OK
This is allowed behavior; as it was designed to function that way.
If your pets are doing the killing and your mastery is doing the looting; you’re okay as far as GMs are concerned. This does not mean design can’t/won’t/should/shouldn’t update the system as it works today.
my favourite time in pvp was just after release when it was 8v8 and there wasn’t really a meta yet
i do miss the 8v8!
seems so, i had a google seems it has 4 dye channels
http://dulfy.net/2016/04/05/gw2-gemstore-updategwens-attire-super-adventure-glider/
cool idea!
mine would be:
Phoenix Pants for legs (they look shardy like kralkatorrik)
Hellfire Vambrace for gloves (Primordus)
Toxic Mantle for shoulders (Mordremoth)
as a GW1 player i’d have to go with Icelord’s Diadem for head (Jormag)
currently we don’t have water themed armour to represent the sea dragon (Bubbles/Selbbub/Steve) but you could use Krait weapons to fill that role for now :P

rise of the bunny thumpers!
how about scepter for touch ranger? XD
i’d like to see Mainhand Dagger and i’d like it to make the ranger fight feral with rapid attacks, would be awesome along side a cat
i made a golemancer for WvW and ran around with golem elite, golem mini pet, golem runes and Omega Siege Golem, but it sucked,
so yeah i’d like to have a good golemancer spec XD
if you want the dirty brown bag of junk on your back go ahead,
transmute your back item into a hobbosack,
there are plenty of them to choose from.
i for one am very happy that we don’t have to look at them anymore :P
as the title says, here are a few of ideas on how to improve the feel of turrets:
Picking Up
picking up should remove or atleast hugely reduce the CD of turrets,
25% reduction just doesn’t cut it!
Self Destruct Timer
currently turrets explode/vanish after 5 minutes, wiki suggests that this was done as a temporary band-aid to fix a bug with the engi being able to remove the turret.
there is no reason now-a-days that turrets shouldn’t last until they are destroyed,
before anyone comes back with worries about AFK farming, necros are already doing that with their minions, and their everlasting pets can be aoe healed with an autocast heal, i don’t think turrets would last very long in an AFK scenario.
allow crits!
being counted as “objects” turrets still cannot deal crits, even if you’re playing a build with mountains of crit, you’ll unfortunately never see your turrets critting.
allow turrets to auto heal slowly over time again
we used to have a trait which caused our turrets to very slowly heal over time, this didn’t grant them any kind of sustain in a fight, but it was really handy between fights so you didn’t have to pick up all of your turrets and put new ones down (or sacrifice a turret for Tool Kit)
i’d suggest that turret auto repair gets built into the Grandmaster trait Advanced Turrets
i was happy we finally got to see the purpose of the weird face room! XD
its been in the game forever
when i got to that part i was so happy and wasn’t expecting it
i found this fight way tougher than the final HoT fight, i actually got downed a couple of times, still managed to scrape by as a reaper MM first try,
i do feel sorry for classes like thief and ele,
i can’t even imagine how sucky the fight would be for them.
would love to have my pink chaos axe back from my GW1 char
i play hammer zerker in unranked and it is actually pretty darn strong,
your f1, #5 and #2 hit for 5-7k your autos usually deal atleast 3k.
it hits like a truck and you’re slinging out stuns, dazes and knockbacks
(edited by Liewec.2896)
i discovered the lions arch jumping puzzle while just roaming around LA one day, killed a good few hours and i was smiling the whole time thinking “this is awesome!”
Unfortunately as you say you are in trouble if you are under attack, the counter is to make distance, but you need to be in that circle to be contributing.
aoe is simply useless background noise in arena fights
O_o
it only takes one ally to capture/contest a point, you don’t need to be in the circle if your ally is.
and you can cover the whole circle in heavy damage, the enemy has 2 choices,
underestimate your damage and stay on point (and die a second or two later.)
or leave the point and your ally will cap it.
i’m not sure how you can call the monstrously huge AoE damage of a zerker staff ele “background noise” in a point capture game! :P
i have soooo many clips that i need to merge into a compilation of how absolutely devastating it can be one moment there are 4 enemies on point vs 1-2 allies, after a few seconds of massive numbers popping up on your screen…no enemies left alive.
full dps while using a support/aoe weapon is a contradiction in small arena based combat. put it this way, 1200 range spells in a game where you need to stand in a small circle with heavy melee fights for sustained periods will never work against equally or better skilled players.
thats why you melt the players in the circle and let your tanky friends cap it.
my ele has been full glass staff zerker since beta and i play them every night that i pvp
with meteor shower pummeling for 5k, lava font ticking away for 4k and fireball spam also landing 3-4k everything simply dies.
it gets even funnier if they try to rez.
i’m not saying its the best build ever, but it is certainly effective, you just need to be sneaky and attack from a vantage point (read: gank from afar while they’re fighting you allies :P),
if the enemy even looks in your direction you either need to pop earth and reflect or RUN or you’re dead in 2 seconds! :P
staff ele is how a glass cannon should be, its my belief that they have the highest damage possible in spvp, but they’re also one of the squishiest targets in the game :P
when it pays off it REALLY pays off,
however when it fails it really fails and you’ll feel like deadweight.
i have tons of clips of melting teams as zerker staff ele, i’ve been meaning to put them all in a compilation
(edited by Liewec.2896)
the aim of conquest (GW2’s pvp mode) is to hold points.
dragon hunter was pretty much made for that imho!
traps are deadly and will punish anyone who dares assault your points.
the community is simply STARVING for armour.
indeed i’d like some form fitting stuff, but i’d also like some simple armours,
its shocking how few armours have been added over the four years.
norn warrior!
crank that height scale right up and get smashing skulls!
Traps in particular are awful and in no way do enough damage to justify losing out on things like PM, SoS, SoR, etc.
i run a full bar of traps on a fully condi focused build and i’ve gotta say, enemies simply MELT.
they can run condi clear but the condis just keep applying, Ancient Seeds is what makes ranger traps amazing
massive stacks of burn, poison and bleeding all while they’re immobilised and unable to get out of the traps
i run axe/torch for even more condi pressure but also i have an odd choice of also using longbow as my secondary, not a condi weapon at all but it gives you a knockback (which you can use to then root them with Ancient Seeds if you need to make some distance), and also a stealth which comes in handy both for finishing and for an “oh skritt!” button

disappointed there won’t be skill updates,
is the balance team on holiday or something?
and i hate how much time you’re spending on 3 flashy sets of armour that a tiny minority of the playerbase will be able to get, unobtainable in WvW, pvp or even world pve, only raids.
i’d rather the time be spent making several simple looking armour sets that everyone can use rather than one super-duper-all-singing-all-dancing armour that only hardcore raiders will get.
we’re all STARVING for new armours, not just raiders.
tldr
skill balance keeps the game fresh,
legendary armour for a tiny minority seems like a massive waste of resources that could be spent making several simple armour sets that everyone has access too.
anyone got a video of condi evade thief?
nvm, found one
i still prefer my staff acro power thief tbh!

I remember a dev said once that the outfit model is altogether and they can’t separate meshes, the head is the only exception as it’s separate.
which is nonsense, because before the wardrobe update many of these current outfits were in sections.
such as Mad King’s Boots
Mad King’s Coat
Mad King’s Gloves
Mad King’kittenhere is the old town clothes UI for the Fancy Winter Outfit showing nice separate parts complete with their own icons:
Yes… the -old town clothes- outfits that they originally made for the game before the revamp… You remember, the ones we couldn’t go into combat with.
what is your point?
i was showing that outfit pieces are infact very capable of being modular,
because seven of them already are.
“outfits can’t be separated” is just one of the myths/excuses that we’ve repeatedly debunked.

this weeks outfit is just as useless as the last,
how many more one-piece ca$hgrabs need to be churned out before we can finally get the armour sets that we’re all eager to hurl money at the screen for?
shoulderpads stopping people from buying an outfit? not a fan of the buttcape?
no problem with armour, just use the rest of the set.
not specifically ele, but Tempest.
i’d love for the attunement overcharges to be ground cast, even if i have to use a Tempest trait to make it so.
i play fire staff zerker, and i’d absolutely love to have the lightning and fire storms at my disposal
i’m not crazy enough to play a super squishy zerker ele and run in to melee
priorities! gotta churn out more outfit$!
screw the things you want!
no Bounding Dodger ? as staff evade spammer i am disappointed!
its a fairly good salt extractor when you’re simply dodging and evading and dealing 10k dmg to everything around XD
the single target damage went through the roof as compensation for ricochet,
also now that we have Bounding Dodger we have immediate access to stealth from BP.
i was playing p/p long before the patch, and i’ve remained playing it ever since,
long live the p/p thieves!

The condition damage in this game is out of control.
you can kill a person in 3-5 seconds with condition burst.
and you can kill people in 2 seconds with power burst.
i click 5 on my staff thief, every enemy around me takes 10k dmg.

i wanted to be #1 one day so i created some clones and taught them how to be supervillains.
i had a crack at making Tracer from Overwatch,
as a thief ofcourse so she can zip around with shadowsteps
i couldn’t change the colour of her goggles though
i have 300-400 tomes (i haven’t kept tabs lately)
i’d welcome any sink for them
i don’t get much time each week to play so i can’t do ranked anymore now that they’ve added the “decay” mechanic, if you stop playing you lose progress,
that doesn’t seem like a mechanic that fits in GW2, thats some grindy WoW nonsense.
but yeah, balance is better
signed!
15k druid armour plx!
also as it is a glorified bikini all of the old “ten thoooooouuuusand years of work!”
and “clipping!” arguments seem pretty invalid
necro is super easy for soloing things, especially if you go MM reaper
Have you tried using something other than a traditional keyboard and mouse?
I play all my games with a MMO mouse and Orbweaver, which makes the reaching my keybinds much easier.
this!^
i clicked my way through the majority of my WoW experience before i bought a speedpad (mine is a nostromo n52te) and it is so much better now!
you have a D-pad under your thumb and you can bind 4 buttons to it and there is another button above and another below, that is 6 buttons right under your thumb.
if this thing broke i’d honestly be screwed when it comes to playing GW2!
i’m no contortionist when it comes to keyboard keybinds so i highly and thoroughly recommend getting a speedpad
charr and norn get epic, huge flamethrower streams
i play full condi glint/malyx.
i’m no pro though, i mostly just spam through the glint skills and then switch back to mally for aoe tormet or single target confusion spam :P
not my video but it is hilarious so you should give it a watch.
this guy trolls a whole guild of people in wvw for nearly 20 minutes while using a similar perma stealth build to the kind you’re after.
video
2 years ago i posted a similar thread about a different guy who seemed wildly out of place.
a time travelling hipster in the human starting zone sitting at the bar wearing a modern baseball cap, hoodie and baggy pants!
look at the two people on the left with their frilly shirts and leather buckled finery,
and then look back to the hipster guy from the future!

tired of seeing 3 guardians on 1 team, no guardians on the other and going “yup they will win cuz they have more guards”
its bs, they are op, why can they set traps DURING combat……you should use the gw1 method of setting traps requiring the player to be out of combat
cool, yep, i’ll just spam traps all across the map, you know in GW1 you could simply spam them the moment they came off cooldown and the first one would stay there?
typically you’d spam 3 of each trap on one spot and enemies would simply explode, instantly.
yep i’m game lets do it!
i do miss trapping the bridges in alliance battles! :P
go full condi mally and span unholy agony and watch the torment ticks fly!
only one enemy? spam them with confusion! XD
i’m deadly serious, its fun and suprisingly good
The ones I’ve seen have always been players saying clipping is the issue.
yup i keep seeing that from outfit fans without an argument, it is easily debunked by reminding them that plenty of the armour in the game already has clipping issues if you mix it badly.
it is up for the player to mix and match a set that looks good.
obviously using Grenth’s Hood (which has a cape) and shoulders like Mantle of the Lich will clip,
players should be able to use their brains and mix parts that don’t clip.
almost the same argument common amongst fans of outfits is the “different cut off points” argument which is pretty much debunked the same way.
they say “oh different weight classes have armour cut off points at different heights on the character so using one part would look horrible/end abruptly!”.
1. firstly i don’t believe them, we can look at heavy armour and some armours cut off so much higher/lower than others.
2. even if it is true, we can still use our brains and imaginations to make it work,
there are plenty of ingame armours right now that if you don’t use the chest and legs they can seem to end abruptly, but you CAN make them work with other armours.
example:
they’d also have to make a whole ton of new story content up to lv 30.
complete with dialogue.
a starting zone, and if they wanted to make it a real race they’d need to make a main city too to match divinities reach, Black Citadel, Hoelbrak, Grove and Rata Sum.
its a hell of a lot more work than simply rigging/animating a model and making the armours fit.
we’ve been screaming this for a long while now, its landing on deaf ears.
Anet apparently don’t want our money.
i’d have bought every single outfit released if they were armours.
all i want is an expansion pack amount of new armour skins.
the rest of the Xpac could be horrible and i’d still be happy if they give us a decent number of armours.
some plain, dropped by random mobs.
some flashy as rewards for quests, special missions or bosses etc.
just more armour!
on the side i would like another elite, and getting crazy/ambitious maybe a new class.
i’m not too bothered about a new race, it would be a lot of effort making a new starting zone and quests, and animating them out and then making all of the current armours/lamefits fit their model.
i’ll add this to the list of every other outfit that i would have purchased as an armour set…
anet really don’t want my money and i’m so eager to give it to them…
instead of just focusing on water/ice, how about the elite spec be about dedicating yourself to becoming master of a single element?
you lose attunement swapping but all of your skills in your chosen element are much better than the current skills?
IE a Master of Flame would be very powerful with AoE damage skills.
Master of Ice would be pretty much what you’ve suggested, maybe a damage/healing hybrid.
Master of Earth could be a little tankier but have decent damage dealing.
Master of Lightning would be a single target dps machine.
this way those folks longing for the ice damage builds similar to GW1 could choose to become Masters of Ice, but those of us wishing to go “all-in” to summoning inferno and cataclysm at the cost of healing/sustain could choose to become fire masters
