i still play a turret alt in unranked pvp for fun sometimes,
plonk them around a point and you have great damage, good sustain and a mountain of CC, obviously i wouldn’t try in ranked (though who knows, could work!?) but it does still work, they’re just a lot more vulnerable than they used to be.
why can’t you start a fight at 50k hp?
you really want an answer? XD
i have 3 necros, my main is a necro
and i still think starting the fight with full lifeforce would be hilariously OP.
Warrior says Hi
War sword is condi based. If you want fair comprasion do it with axe
where is the blind on axe? where is 3 second projectile immunity on a 12 second cooldown?
i used to have Shiro Tagachi in GW1 but i foolishly deleted the char
i have Eir StergaIkin now though (with the L in Sterga"L"kin being a capital i)
i’d like to see a new thief elite that has one simple function,
it simply provides a decent duration stealth on a shortish cooldown.
i mean, its the sneaky class after all, we shouldn’t be forced to either run a pistol or sacrifice the majority of our utility bar for moderate stealth.
make it so Anet!
If I am not mistaken, we were told only outfits would be coming to the gem store in the future, and any future armor sets would be in game rewards through various means, such as achievements.
they did also say there wouldn’t be expansions or grinds
i missed the live show and dulfy doesn’t mention this, if we really are losing adrenaline decay then that is FANTASTIC!
They need to add more utility for pistols to make them less boring and more sustainable.
They could also put bleeds on unload and decrease physical dmg a bit.
don’t you dare decrease my unload damage! XD
for pvp i’m actually using axe/torch and LONGBOW, crazy right?
not as crazy as you think!
combined with Ancient Seed’s it gives you a nice short cooldown knockback which comes with 5 stacks of bleed and a loooong immob, you also get the stealth from 3 for sticky situations
sigil wise i run Bursting (a no-brainer) and smoldering (also pretty easy choice with flametrap and torch making up a large part of your damage.)
(edited by Liewec.2896)
polls are pretty dam clear,
stop wasting your money Anet and release content we actually want to buy instead of this kitten one-piece spam.
a plethora of new armour/ weapon skins, tons of new styles.
(almost/as many as vanilla release),
many being simply open world trash drops/vendor bought/story rewards
it’s an expansion we want more than 3 dam sets this time around.
i burst out laughing when he said they were working on another…
really? you think we’re stupid enough to give you another £30 after the utter failure that HoT was?
if it wasn’t for the elite specs then the expansion might aswell never have happened.
empty maps, barely any new armour or weapons, a handful of story missions you’ll finish in an afternoon or 2…
fool us once Anet…
higher AA damage on GS,
Ancient Seeds to proc from traps,
many many more pets, including rares (like in wow)
i still use signets in my unranked pvp zerker GS build,
they’re the best way to max your damage
set portal up in the middle of all of your NPCs at the keep,
go back to fighting, wait for the rev to use skill #3 and pull him to gankville :P
for pvp burn guards still melt everything!
also condi stealth mesmer with a staff is really potent and you have a ton of sustainability
biggest turret change i’d like is for the “pick up” feature to DRAMATICALLY reduce their cooldown, i’m thinking make it a 10ish second cooldown for turrets you picked up.
i still play an alt dedicated to turrets in pvp, its still pretty fun for 1v1 point defense :P
Staff ele is not exactly known for its dmg in pvp
Staff ele in pvp is more a support build than a pewpew nuke dps build.
i disagree,
rather strongly.Thats probably with a glass cannon build (~11k hp Ele or so) and every boon and condition possible
actually it was the opening of the fight.
i had 0 boons, they had 0 condis,
6k meteor showers, 5k lava fonts and 4k fireballs are the starting point for a staff zerker ele (and as 2 deal that damage over time you will be hitting with all 3 at once. getting up to around 20k dps at peak performance, they go down, they’re finished instantly.)
is it glassy? as glassy as they get, but you won’t find better ranged nukage,
not only is the damage crazy high, but it covers the entire node and then some,
and thats what this thread is about right?
if you’re looking for nukes, glass staff ele is for you!
agree with the OP,
i still play greatsword zerker and its fun surprising people by using bolas to immobilize them and then blowing their s%%t up with a 25k 100b XD
another fun one is hammer zerker using Berzerker, pretty much spamming out 5k crits and half of them are CCs :P
obviously none of this is meta, but i avoid playing ranked anyway,
too much elitism and aggro!
personally i’d like to see a reduction in the vanilla skill recharges.
faster skill cooldowns leads to faster gameplay, which is good,
swinging your hammer and then waiting 30 seconds for that skill to cooldown…is bad.
it was annoying in the first week when we all wanted to play our elite specs and they were locked behind masteries, but that was quickly fixed, you should be able to unlock elite specs simply by doing the readily accessible challenges.
though i do have to agree that it all felt far too grindy, i played HoT for the first week and haven’t stepped back in the jungle since, theres nothing to do there except progress masteries, which requires doing things you’ve already done 10x over and yeah, thats grindy.
its a past reward, something to show that you PVPed back when we had exclusive rewards, i know they’ve said they’ll bring it back, but i hope they don’t.
there are very very few unobtainable past rewards in this game already, atleast let those of us who earned them, keep their exclusiveness.
obtaining limited time aesthetics is a huge part of MMOs, and one of the areas Anet are really failing in in GW2, just look at S1 and S2 awards available for a few gold from a vendor…
for pure aesthetics, go with what you fancy!
i have a max height norn necro (looks amazing with reaper form, waving a 20ft scythe around!)
for gameplay pve/wvw i’ve actually been using the human elite Reaper of Grenth on my reaper, it applies AoE chill and poison around you for 15 seconds, and reapers have a ton of things that synergies with chill and poison
Bitter chill, chilling inflicts vulnerability (3 stacks for 8 seconds)
Cold shoulder, chills last longer and you take 10% less damage from chilled targets
Deathly Chill, chill deals damage.
Chilling Nova, crits against chilled foes causes an aoe that damages and chills nearby foes.
Chilling Victory, hitting a foe with chill grants might and life force.
yeah, chill is good on a reaper XD
if you don’t fancy the new shout, or the golem, Reaper of Grenth is a nice change
there aren’t enough “on downed” traits to make a bomber build in gw2,
gw1 worked because it had several skills that had effects when you died, when the spell ended, or when you dropped the item, you could stack them all since you had 2 professions to go wild with.
the most you can do in GW2 is…lava tomb?
“Is this real life? Is this just fantasy?”
the only thing GW2 needs to take from WoW is
ARMOUR IS GOOD, 3 sets is not an expansion.
and LIMITED TIME REWARDS ARE GOOD!
living world rewards for example should only be obtainable while the episodes are live.
i’m fairly certain they’re unveiling the ability to craft seasonal weapons soon too, so there goes the prestige of greatsaw.
from my experience
ranger: heavy condi trapper still melts things
engi: SD zerker still oneshots things
necro: d/w syphon wellomancer still melts faces
guard: burn guard still throws out 5k burns
mesmer: i still play stealth spamming condi staff clone mesmer, it’s still good.
warrior i think berserk is simply an upgrade for any build,
thief still has fun gimmicky builds like p/p but daredevil is pretty much an upgrade to any build,
Staff ele is not exactly known for its dmg in pvp
Staff ele in pvp is more a support build than a pewpew nuke dps build.
i disagree,
rather strongly.

the rest of the name was removed as part of the “Visual Noise” crackdown.
i honestly can’t understand why they don’t release outfits as armour skins, they’d make so much more money,
for the small amount of additional effort involved in creating tooltips ad thumbnail art they’d end up making so much more money.put it this way,
if outfits were armour skin sets i can’t really think of any that i wouldn’t have bought.
as it stands i bought 4-5 (long ago) and i don’t plan on buying any more.Another issue is that you might not get the outfits as armor in the weight class you want. My understanding is that the armor classes have different splits between chest and legs. You might not be able to find a good split between the top and bottom for all classes, especially for those pieces with external frilly bits, like the bow on the female Shadow Assassin. (I suspect that’s why the helmets, shoulders and gloves are easier to make as separate pieces for all weight classes; they’re a lot less tied to each other than the chest and legs sections.) It may even be that it’s not possible to make certain outfits as separate head and chest pieces, like the Arcane and Wedding outfits.
There are exceptions; I’d love the Jungle Explorer outfit as part of a set of medium armor and there don’t seem to be any complications to my untrained eye, but I’d rather have it as an Outfit than as light or heavy armor, where it does me no good whatsoever.
As for the armor sets, I’ve seen some decent applications for the Aetherblade pieces, but then again you also get things like the Zodiac armor that nobody seems to be able to find a use for.
they say that, but before the wardrobe update ALL existing outfits were separate parts, wearable by all races, genders, classes with no issue.
plus the majority of existing armours have unnatural cut off points anyway,
have you tried mixing different chest and leg armours? many simply don’t mix.
so i don’t take “clipping” as an excuse since they clearly don’t care about clipping issues, seams or anything else that is apparent in the majority of armour that we have.
sure!
DX12 is yours!
we’ll give it you in our super magical DXadventurer bundle!
for the sweet price of 8000 gems you get:
DX12, 2 super dooper outfits, a repair canister, 2 and a half speed boosts and a carrot.
Balance of the game was never 100% and it would be unfair to expect it to be
another pvp game i used to play had perfectly balanced pvp, it was called Guild Wars
that game even had secondary classes (like you could be a necromancer with warrior skills) but somehow the devs managed to find a perfect balance, if something seemed incredibly hard to kill, there was always a counter,
tanks were tanky, glass cannons were squishy, hybrids did both but neither as good.
that was made by a good group of devs called Anet, i wish they still existed.
“clipping” is a really really bad excuse.
some of the best armour in the game has clipping galore, arah sets for example.
Anet don’t care or they’d have changed them,
the players don’t care or they wouldn’t use them (and would complain)
i honestly can’t understand why they don’t release outfits as armour skins, they’d make so much more money,
for the small amount of additional effort involved in creating tooltips ad thumbnail art they’d end up making so much more money.
put it this way,
if outfits were armour skin sets i can’t really think of any that i wouldn’t have bought.
as it stands i bought 4-5 (long ago) and i don’t plan on buying any more.
c’mon anet , give us armour skin sets, make money, everyone is happy for once.
i don’t get their reluctance to sell us what we’re all eager to buy.
instead hundreds of hours are getting wasted on these outfits that the majority of players are sick to death of.
its beyond nonsense.
(edited by Liewec.2896)
a meaty lich crit can sometimes get someone to 50%, and then if you’re lucky fire/air and Chill of Death finish them off,
but its usually not a oneshot usually they get to 50-70% and then explode :P
you can kill things really fast, but its not strickly oneshot,
for example dagger warhorn blood/power wellomancer can absolutely melt things
noone has mentioned Executioner’s Axe Toy yet! :P
a long range charge on a 2 second cooldown, its effected by swiftness too.
the ultimate tool for getting around quickly.
for aesthetics, anything other than norn, i was going to say anything other than norn and charr, but i guess you could make a smaller charr and play on the " cat like reflexes" deal :P
if they ever do release bikinis i really pray its an armour skin option!
mix it with heavy armour, sexeh!
as the title says, its been a little over a month since HoT was released,
boldly charging the price of a full game at $50, the expansion has received many negative reviews from customers due to lack of content for the premium pricetag.
IGN community reviewers gave it a 5.2 “Mediocre” for example.
of these negative reviews many were frustrated about the lack of new armour skins to customize our characters with, the entire expansion has an embarrassing THREE armour sets per weight class, three.
any possible new armour being added in the future is likely to be legendary raid rewards, apparently we’ve had our fill of readily obtainable armour skins, with the three we paid $50 for.
since the release of HoT a little over a month ago,
Anet have released no less than FIVE outfits,
nigh-uncustomizable one-piece sets that they want to charge you several dollars for.
so my questions for Anet are:
do you not think its a tad bit insulting to have an expansion supposedly years in the works and release it for $50 with a mere three armour sets, and then IMMEDIATELY show that you infact have the ability to churn out five sets in little over a month?
is there any, ANY! possibility of more armour skins? even is you put them in the gemstore in place of outfits?
and my questions for the community:
am i the only one insulted by the lack of new armours in the expansion followed by a flurry of cashgrab “outfits”?
are you happy with the number of armour sets released with the expansion?
will you be buying “outfits” in the future?
would you buy gemstore armour skins?
(edited by Liewec.2896)
what is even more annoying is that these sets are all fecking OUTFITS
one-piece sets that you can’t mix and match.
do you want to pay real money to be an unimaginative clone?
OUTFITS SUCK ANET.
yes its insulting that since the $50 3-armour expansion Anet have managed to pump out something like SIX outfits.
but it wouldn’t be quite as bad if these outfits were armour skins.
i would pay for armour skins….
i will never buy a one-piece cashgrab.
every dam week, new outfit, new outfit, new outfit…
WE WANT ARMOUR SKINS.
but hey, expecting anet to get a clue is a bit ambitious.
They are nerfing these effects for their push for E-sports. It was “too hard” to follow what was going on with all those giant fireballs.
i know right? so many staff eles in pvp. :P
agreed completely, one of the biggest sellers for GW2 is the graphics,
turning a powerful fireball into a laughable pixel is a sure way to tell your customers that you are utterly clueless about what this game needs.
but hey, churn out afew more lame outfits and i’m sure the game will be soooo much better.
clueless…
i swear they’re pulling the longest running troll gag in history,
they’re not really clueless monkeys, its all a twisted test to see how long before we snap.
agreed, the new effects are simply embarrassing…
Anet should be ashamed.
agreed, i have a good comp, why are they nerfing my visuals just because someone else is determined to stick with their windows 98 piece of junk?!
another week, another outfit…
ok, we know we were fools to spend $50 on an expansion with 3 armour sets…
but Anet you don’t need to pump out cashgrab after cashgrab to show us how easy it would have been to make more armour…
#WTBarmour
you’ll find the combat sucks, it’ll feel clunky as hell, the majority of skills require you to stand still to cast,
the majority of quests are “talk to the guy with a ! over their head, kill 20 pigs, return to the guy”.
i played wow since vanilla for about 5 years, and i could never go back after GW2.
i was playing p/p daredevil zerker in unranked pvp the other night, it melts faces if you can get the drop on people
using black powder and vault you can get stealth on demand, meaning you can get the 200+ power from Revealed Training and the 10% damage bonus from Vault ontop of the regular damage you’d be doing as Unload zerker (usually around 8k, now 10k)
its gimmicky as heck and don’t expect to be doing ranked matches with it,
but yes, its really really fun
i haven’t tried it in pve but i play kitless rifle engi with an SD build
grab some short recharge toolbelt skills and its a blast!
(i use utility goggles, battering ram and rifle turret, they all have really short cooldown toolbelts.)
edit, just saw foefaller mentioned SD already
