There’s a message that pops up as soon as I enter the Mad King event. Several players have seen this message. MK was also bugged and stayed on his little island that time.
Also, I know he’s one of the whispers, but wiki doesn’t know where he is in LA…
Apparently the mad king wont let me repeat without talking to this Doern Vasquez character and no one know’s where he is.
Don’t think anyone mentioned this yet, there is one ‘skin collector’ NPC in the game. Anet could reuse his template and give us the same thing as GW1 for items we purchased from the BLTP.
When you fill out parts of the Hall of Monuments in GW1 there is an NPC in the old HoM that will give you infinite skins for the items you earned in GW1. So I can delete these or forget to transmute them on my new stuff and I haven’t lost it, just gotta use the blue HoM transporter orb and get new ones. It’s a beautiful system and should be implemented for the BLTP items.
I bought quite a few of the costumes in GW1 – would be nice if the HoM guy had those too – but I find it difficult to spend money or gold on costumes that require storage space that no matter how many slots you buy will always be in decline due to the nature of MMO’s. The more uptime for the game, the more costumes and costume parts get designed, the smaller my storage would get until the amount of costumes becomes so great that I have to start deleting them for the new stuff.
Pokemon syndrome with a limited storage = sad OCD.
I would buy the hell out of some of that stuff if there was a way to infinitely respawn them so I could switch it up once in a while without having to store them in the really limited storage.
Yeah, hit detection definitely needs work. Either the servers aren’t sending correct position info to us, the hit radius is way too small, or it’s a client issue.
I’ve had this several times, works on some and doesn’t on others. It’s kinda like the bug where you can see someone downed but when you try to res them you get like 15hp and then you stand up again because they’re not really in that spot.
The major sigil of air that I have on all my weapons will not trigger anymore, prior to Halloween update (1st one) it would fire off every few shots, but after the update it hasn’t fired once.
As for the experience bar (yellow/gold bar at the bottom of screen) it hasn’t moved since I logged on today and I’ve been doing events almost non-stop. It’s just stuck at the right hand side where I left it when I logged of yesterday.
If you place a cauldron and/or the mad kings feast on the spawn point for the doors it will glitch them open. This prevents completion and the doors will not go away so that it can spawn again.

The horns aren’t there ‘really’. Some people can click on the empty space under the witch outfit and see the preview, others get the empty space.
Would be a slight benefit if your in-game browser had a refresh button or limited the cache time to a much shorter time. Or the content isn’t really there in the first place?
I force cleared my cache and it rebuilt it and the horns still aren’t there – see screenshot.
Lion’s Arch one you’re supposed to jump into the forge and get transformed for costume brawling.
Oh… it was a bug then. Didn’t even know it was an event of some sort. Well it was a good run. Back to normal farming for event stuff then.
Wish they’d implement a costume/skin collector NPC or add storage for the skins or something like the Hall of Monuments NPC so after we buy something it gets permanently added so that that character or account can access it forever.
We in the states complain about bandwidth throttling (slowing our connection if we use too much) but you guys really get screwed with your metered bandwidth. If Steam has a sale I can easily chew up 60gb in a couple days.
Thankfully GW has always been friendly on bandwidth – excluding large updates like this.

But that’s exactly what they want to do with their e-Sport initiative right? make it more competitive? The problem is that they can’t without properly informing their player base about how things work.
I need to know what percentage of chance? is it actually worth it?
Buffs, 1 stack, 2, 25? How long does it last?
Conditions, 1 stack, 2, 25? How long does it last?
Damage, how much? what triggers it?
Cooldowns? how long, what triggers it?
Critical Hits, how much damage, what triggers it, and what percentage?
On revive/down state conditional skill (trap, well, etc.) how long does it last, how much damage (is it determined by my identical skills or is it special), area of affect (again, determined by my stats or special).
Necro has quite a few of those that are worthless for tooltips. That stupid little minion that raises when you kill something… The tooltip is worthless. No duration, doesn’t tell you it degens at a very high rate(it actually continues degen’ing after it’s left the area for about 10 seconds…), no damage, no conditional affects, etc.
It simply says "Summon a jagged horror whenever you kill a foe. 30 second cooldown. ", and yet it does so much more that makes you want to not touch it even though you have to take that one…
Skills are still missing information as well but that’s another thread.
Well, what the hell are we supposed to do after we’ve completed the story. The achievements are ALL FARMING. Congratulations you’ve killed 1000+ of X Monster! and there’s like 50 of those, then all the pvp achievements which, I’m not sure if you understand or not, but pvp is just constant farming of players instead of monsters.
Farming is doing something over and over for tangible reward – see agriculture.
Grinding is doing something over and over for meaningless reward – see mowing the lawn. They both technically do the same thing, you plant something, then harvest it. The difference is in what can be done with the harvest. With agriculture I get food and/or income. With mowing the lawn I get a freshly cut lawn smell and/or compost. Which one is worth more?
With anti-farming in place to ‘stop the bots’ (lol) my tangible reward is turning into meaningless reward while the bots accumulate meaningless reward at a rate that makes it into tangible reward. The bots can mow lawn faster than me and in bulk so they can sell the compost whereas I can’t.
Now, tell me how that makes me, as a real player, happy? Why are bots getting all the love and I get nothing? I enjoy doing some event chains and I do them alot. I get less reward for helping NPC’s with a world event(actually playing) than a bot that is just killing moa birds all day long.
Anet needs to start treating the players right and stop focusing all their effort on bots. I understand the problem with bots and it’ll never go away because this is a game where real money can be made by making a script do all the work of a real person. It’s simple business practice – if I can replace an employee with a script I can make more money. But the customers aren’t getting the same level of service anymore either. It’s like DRM focusing on the problem instead of encouraging the customers with discounts and easier ways to get it.
Anet is making some of us grind because they’re focusing on the botting issue to much. Sometimes we like a skin that one of the events give us or we’re trying to get that boss’s rare, that’s grind. Then after a couple runs we don’t get the rare and we’re hit with anti-farm code (Diminishing Returns-DR) and now we have absolutely no way of getting it without doing some loophole move to reset the DR artificially, causing Anet to waste resources and the player to lose patience, fun, time, etc. All this while the bot goes about it’s routine happily not caring in the slightest that its time is actually being wasted and there’s more to the game than just the circle around town X and Monster Y.
Anyway, no matter how you look at it, end-game content is farming whether it’s doing dynamic – er cyclical – events, dungeons, pvp, wvw, or crafting. They’re ALL farming because there aren’t infinite different events, the world is finite, and there are no lasting affects to the world that have to be reversed before it can be restored.
Stop making so many components. Other than that, yes, add the crafting materials that don’t have a spot to the collections please. They’re rare enough that I’ll probably never accumulate 250 of them (unlike the others that I would like more than 1 stack of in collections) but I’d still like to reserve my actual storage for things that matter to me and not things that obviously have a dedicated place.
Halloween is coming up, then after that is Wintersday, New Years, maybe something for Valentines, and who knows what truly original holidays that exist in Tyria they’ve come up with for the future – I really hope they have some original ones that weren’t just copy & pasted from Earth.
And they’re adding new content this week anyway, so there’s plenty of stuff to do. Just slow down and enjoy the experience, patience is the greatest strength of a gamer.
Yeah, I support this. I bought a bunch of exotic weapon recipes when I was level 70 or so and couldn’t even use them so I had to keep them sitting in my inventory until I was 80 so I could use them. If there was a buyback that was actually worth it that would have been great.
They cost like 5+ silver each but the vendor would only buy them back for like 6 copper yay! If they’d buy them back for the price they sell them for that would have been much better and I would have bought them again when I was capable of reading them at 80.
“On our radar” means that it was actually in there during beta, but someone had the bright idea to remove it before release and now that no one can actually find what they’re looking for, they put it back on the radar for things to paste back into the code…
I’m just wondering what instability it created that it was even taken out in the first place, that was a usability plus not a problem.
For those of you who never saw it, it was under the filters drop down. They just repurposed the check box that currently says “Only Show Available”. It used to say “Show only usable by me”. But I can’t for the life of me find a single TP screenshot that shows the filters from beta weekend 1 or 2 as it was down more often that up – I think they switched it in bwe3 to the current implementation.
Didn’t they have this in the betas? I think I remember seeing this once or twice.
There wont be a Game API, there will be a web API (officially someday) so we can link into the BLTC (can already do that), chat, check character sheets, previews, and things like event notifications for those of you who like to event hop like me
I made this recommendation/suggestion to Anet back in the early days of GW1, hopefully us web developers will be able to do some really neat things for you guys, officially, soon
What’s not evil about a 9 foot tall cheerleader that has a few skinless pets?
But yeah seriously, we need some outfits that don’t make me look like a little school girl.
Skirt or Dress ? pick one. Where are my pants with spikes, bone accessories, accents of BLOOD, etc. ???
I loved the necro armors from gw1, in gw2 the creepiest I can have is the ‘goat helmet’ and pretend that I don’t really see the skirt/dress. Don’t get me wrong, I like some of the dresses and overall matched outfits, but if I am even considering doing any role-playing as a necro I’m pretty much screwed unless I purchase the ‘Profane’ armor skin off the GS which is just a latex body suit that still doesn’t really convey “I eat souls and life force and love to make you bleed to death while simultaneously freezing to death”.
I’m sure some of the thieves would like some spike outfits like the assassin of gw1 as well. I just want some more ‘evil’ looking outfits. As it is, GW2 outfits are a little too much ‘little girl with self-esteem issues trying to anger daddy’. What happened to the fantasy part of the game? Is it too close to present time to have fantastical armors and outfits? Did Tyria get too commercialized already? Hook me up with some steam punk and dark grunge stuff – steam punk + asura = awesome
To comment about all the the ‘friendly necromancer’ people, you have plenty of those types of outfits, those of us who choose to have a more dark arts type of necromancer have to wear the same cheerleader outfits you do and that, for us, sucks.
The default for necromancers in gw2 is the nice type of necromancer, we are simply asking for some dark arts lingerie/outerwear for ours, something that conveys the ‘I want to make you bleed while siphoning your life force and then make your corpse fight for me’.

It’s probably got the same AI as the Flesh Golem He doesn’t care what you’re doing, he’s looking for a FIGHT!! GOGOGO!
Yes, DR is hitting me after the second time doing the same event at least for the base rewards (karma, exp, money), the third time I actually got a rare. But then it was all blue stuff from then on. Prior to the update I could go 4 runs – I do cycles of events in an area, there’s about 5 or 6 of them that can be done in a chain and then the world event for the chest.
It’s getting annoying that the BOTS are WINNING the war against players enjoyment. I thought we were supposed to “Play the way we want to.” So what if I have an abundance of time right now and want to play my favorite area over and over and over, that’s “The way I play!”
Stop punishing me for how I like to play, all the while I’m also helping new players get acquainted with the events and mechanics of the game and I’m getting hurt.
Can "Armor" please be separated into Light, Medium and Heavy Armor categories?

There was a way in beta, but then they took it out for some reason. It was really helpful then and I have no clue as to why anyone would want to reduce user experience, it’s just a tiny modification to the DB query… Now we either have to know the name of what we want or look at EVERY SINGLE ONE of them to see if we can even use it.
I wouldn’t ‘farm’ the human or asura starting zones for karm & loot. The Norn starting area is a much better area for DE farming where your level 80 wont affect the lower level players. Most of them are geared for many players, the mobs are spread out more or come from many directions. Your impact wont be felt in that zone.
Wayfarer Foothills is where I do that. Aside from the green zone, which you can still do this in, the white zone has an event going on ALL THE TIME, as long as it’s not bugged.
There’s collection, escort, champion, world event(Frozen Maw – chest), town takeover, and up in the north another world event(without chest). Most of these can be completed in sequence, have multiple parts, and your level 80 will be on a level playing field with everyone else, as those aren’t really AOE compatible
Why should I have to ‘practice’ this event just so I can do it ‘properly’ once? Why should I absolutely have to have the highest possible skill in order to do this event? Why should I have to be level 80 and experienced in dungeon runs in order to do this event?
Why would you expect a NEW level 15 player that has been running around SOLO to be able to cooperate with exacting precision with at least 1 more NEW level 15 player and NOT have the equipment necessary to do it with ‘ease’ ?
All of your strategies rely on the OLD gw1 method of partying with others that know what they’re in for.
GW2 is a solo game that you just happen to be able to encounter others doing the same thing on occasion. You cannot under any circumstances expect the random low level player to have this level of skill and be able to cooperate with others properly when the death rate for this event is 100%.
I play the Frozen Maw event every day, many times a day cause I like it. I’m 80 Necro with plenty of high level skill and even then I get knocked down sometimes or targeted (more often than not) and dropped to 10% health in just a couple seconds just after I used up my dodges. It’s fun, challenging, and rewarding.
Thaumanova on the other hand is just a practice in futility. I know all the suggested tactics and they don’t do any good for ‘random player’ that doesn’t know them by heart which is EVERY SINGLE PLAYER that doesn’t visit this forum and look up THIS POST or any other site that might have a guide on defeating the OP event.
Should it be hard? yes, Should the embers be able to fire off 3 consecutive DoTs that predict your movements so you’re GOING TO DIE? no. Should the average player expect to be able to defeat this event without killing his desire to do more events? yes.
I’m sorry, but I shouldn’t have to be a top tier player in order to finish off a single starting area boss that is meant for NEW PLAYERS.
Now if this was an end game boss this would be awesome but as a starting area for noobs that haven’t had ANY precedent for cooperative tactical play it’s just way too much to handle.
I’ve only seen the end once and they said it took them nearly an hour of hit, die, port, run, hit, die, port, run, (+3 then fix armor & repeat). I got there too late to contribute and the chest was bugged at the time too.
You can respond with tactics all day long, but that doesn’t do any good for ‘random joe player’ that just started, accidentally figured out how to dodge a few minutes ago, likes to stand right next to the monsters as a caster, and has almost got a handle on what this ‘aggro’ concept is. Oh and don’t forget that he may or may not have all his armor yet and you can almost guarantee that it’s not max level for his level either or has a decent gem in the slot.
Now, throw in your acronyms, keeps screaming ‘kill the adds first’ – ‘wtf is an add?’, ‘omg stay off the bridge’ – ‘I can’t get off the bridge it’s covered in FIRE and the other side is covered in quick-spawning monsters!‘. Now he’s dead, disillusioned at what just happened cause all the other bosses and events don’t one-shot him, and wondering why no one will res him and they keep screaming ‘port out and run back!’ at him.
Yeah, that’s awesome right? Great experience for a NEW PLAYER. Yes, as a long time GW player I can expect these sorts of things – in higher level areas. As a new player during the betas (it was harder then) I wasted almost an hour with another 30+ players attempting to do this and gave up. Making new chars for each other zone I found that the WE’s were so much more fun cause you didn’t necessarily get one-shot or burned to death while being knocked down in the fire. As a low level player that can’t spec out his armor you will die from the burning after being knocked down in it, there’s no ‘yay I still have 1hp left after dodging when I could get up and the burning stopped’, no, you are going to die from that.
Anyway, I wont play that event anymore, the rewards are most definitely not worth the amount of total frustration from it.
Adjusting Interface size makes text in the TP look very bad as well as make it hard to read at the smallest.
I know this is a web interface so could you make the TP window not scale its contents and use the proper css for doing this please? Probably shouldn’t use the game engine to scale this interface, instead swap the css out depending on which UI option is used.
Add to the fact that when you have open windows and adjust the interface size the windows will sometimes run off the main window instead of adjusting position to stay inside the main window.
Went with a friend today to do the CoF story mode. She loves it apparently so we partied up and got a couple more to do it.
Wipe wipe wipe wipe… where was the story? Get to a chest after continuous running from the nearest waypoint to tick down the health of XYZ OP Boss and it’s got blue. Go for another boss, blue, another blue…. GRRRRR.
The last boss is really easy but fire is not a squishies friend. Open that chest and guess what?!! blue. And I’m not sure but was there a dungeon story completion achievement thingy? something popped up with some level 70(wtf I’ve got 129 extra skill points) orange that I couldn’t use.
So, after about an hour of running from waypoint to waypoint just for Mats I’m kinda hoping that the explorable dungeons give better loot than whatever-the-hell the story mode was supposed to be.
I think some NPC’s were with us talking the whole time but as for ‘story’ it’s too hard, too long, and the ‘OP boss’ paradigm is getting old for video games.
I’m not saying that it wasn’t an interesting journey – for a party of 6 or more because 1-shotting is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fun and innovative.
I remember bosses in GW1 were hard because they used skills, knew what AOE was, and didn’t necessarily have 10,000,000 hp because they’re healing skills were better than yours. Then we take a step back in GW2, they might have 3 skills; an AOE that you can’t escape, a 30 second cooldown on their ONE SHOT skill, and then one that will continually just tick down your health faster than you can deal with all while having several million HP, armor that makes yours look like toilet paper, and a very limited range of pull at which time they will disengage and regen their health to full in 30 seconds. sweet.
I understand world bosses having all those things, but this is an instance. It shouldn’t be the same thing as a world boss by any means, you’re supposed to be telling me a story and sucking me into that story so I understand that I’m not fighting for loot but for a purpose.
But if you’re going to give me loot, match my level, don’t soulbound or account bound it either. WTF is my necro going to do with soulbound level 70 orange medium armor? salvage some leather? yay.
Rant over
Story modes need some work obviously, it also needs to be worth my time to do them. If I do a story, does it change my world? Did it have any kind of impact at all to my story world? Did doing CoF get me a “Master of the Flame” achievement?(no), Helping guildies, ok, but I’m not pugging story mode, it’s nowhere near worth the time investment at all.
Yeah, I’m 375 now and have to do just a little bit more. Though selling those potions I’ve found to be pointless as no one buys them. I just merch the ones I don’t use.
Yeah, this is annoying to say the least – someone wants it but I can’t really sell it to them.
So before the update he worked ok, but now he just will not do anything but stand next to me or attack something when I run by it. He refuses to attack what I’m attacking at all costs and it’s really getting annoying.
I have to make him charge something and then it’s a 50/50 chance that he’ll continue attacking it.
They had this in the betas, then removed it from release and added the ‘show available’ option which isn’t useful at all.
It was great that I didn’t have to hover over EVERY SINGLE THING just to find the one that my character could use when I chose ARMOR….
Is Feast of Corruption supposed to cancel queued up skills and currently casting skills?
This has been going on since a few updates ago. The necro skills for Scepter/Dagger are pretty long casting, then we have one that feasts on conditions right in the middle and it has a habit of cancelling skills that are being cast so I have to consciously wait for the skills to finish casting before I touch that one.
I don’t remember it cancelling skills during beta or initial launch. Wikitten didn’t as it’s an inconvenience to hit that, have a skill cancelled, wait 5 seconds longer for that cancelled skill to be usable again.
Lol you mean like this mobile app they said they were working on.
Couple years ago they said they’d have some mobile stuff, apparently my web developer position application hasn’t been accepted yet so you’ll have to wait a little longer
I don’t mind not getting drops from certain uber farmable monsters but that message gives the wrong message completely.
Content Disabled? “So my personal story is still bugged huh? grrr”
But it’s not just the grubs either. Talking to the guy with the cattlepult will give that message as well. I also get that message randomly when just running around killing things.
Make that message actually mean something if you’re going to spam me with it!
I’m super happy that you have awesome developers, but your person who writes the text for things really sucks at their job.
Players have no idea what that internal developer debugging message means to their play time. Remove it, it’s confusing people and making them think they did something wrong or that something is broken.
So yeah. Tap ‘O’ click ‘Style’ – there’s your preview. DONE.
Now, instead of clicking an item to see stats, reuse this page. And put a ‘Buy Now’ button there.
Ok, since the first beta this has bugged the hell out of me.
Please for the love of the gods either put a period at the end of sentences, a space, then the word “Consumable” or put “Consumable” on it’s own line.
Thank you.
I can replicate this with near 100% certainty during the DE chain in Straits of Devastation at the ‘Black Hawk Down’ part where the little guy has to fix the ‘choppa’ and you have to protect them from the waves of undead. This is just south of Xenarius Waypoint iirc.
So far it has happened every single time while with the ‘zerg’, and usually on the first or second wave locations. It seems to me that the sound library is being overloaded by too many simultaneous requests or you’re overloading the buffer.
First image is a memory leak situation since garbage collection didn’t happen after the event. See all the spears in the water, they stay indefinitely and increase for each repeat of the event. I submitted a report about this when I found it. Underwater event in Frostgorge Sound.
The second image is pretty much a repeat of a previous post but with different armor.
The top isn’t long enough so there is a few pixels of empty space between my top and bottom which you can see through. Also, the top has a weird shadow if you take your bottoms off.
Norn Female
Top: Light Deep and Troubled Chestpiece
Bottom: Rampager’s Cabalist Legs
You choose what to keep when you transmute. To transmute you double click the transmute stone, click on an item, then drag another item into the window that pops up. From there you click on the components you want from 3 categories (design, level based stats, and inscription if it has one).
The only thing is they have to be of the same type (armor class or weapon type).
You can’t transmute a scepter with a dagger skin for example.
I would also like to be able to craft these with higher level stats instead of just transmuting them.
I have to assume so because I’ve seen the same ‘octopus dress’ for my light armor necro since the early game and I can get it at level 80 as well. Just wish I could find something more than just skirts and dresses…
You can also transmute designs if you can’t find the higher level item. I just REALLY wish the transmute stones would work between armor classes, I love the medium pirate stuff and hate the light armor variants. Just want pants for my necro, not the same exact skirt/dress all the time.
For 100g, commanders are still worthless in PVE. Please keep PVP specific stuff in PVP.
Maguuma is up, I just 100% that zone a few minutes ago. Is this the one where you fight the sharks in that little hole near the stairs?
And it’s about 1 minute. As a necro going for 100% my kills are just a little too long to get through this area. The moment I kill one of those speed running dead that have a million HP and cripple on nearly every attack the one I killed a few moments earlier is attacking me.
Following the zerg that’s going on in there for whatever chain isn’t going to help me and that’s all they want to do. Can you please tone down the respawn rate and why isn’t it a set time for all zones? I mean that zone is just ripe for botting at it’s current respawn rate, they wouldn’t even have to move…
‘Normal’ nodes respawn at 20 to 30 minutes in the areas that I frequent.
Will that be retro-active to recipes we’ve already ‘learned’ ? Or only unused recipes?
They should probably get soulbound on use status to fix that, but yeah the price difference at higher level is absurd.
Yeah, when you push the up arrow to see your cache the links no longer work.
So, don’t you get some reward that allows you to get some dungeon armor for completing a dungeon after some several thousand runs or whatever? And now you can’t because of this update or is that a guaranteed reward? Either way, anti farm code sucks, sucked in gw1, sucks now. As a crafter I absolutely have to change zones – sometimes to ones that aren’t useful just to get some of the stuff you have to farm MONSTERS for.
Nodes respawn after a time so you can make circuits of zones for the node stuff, but if you have to get stuff from monsters you’re out of luck.
I like to stay in one zone cause I like the events and the materials are good money on the market right now too as well as filling up my storage. But I have to swap zones every 20 minutes cause I get caught up getting materials from monsters.
Anyway, not looking forward to this. This is akin to DRM, punish legitimate players for the misdeeds of bots.
