I got one last week, it was my first ever key drop.
Yeah, he bursts out of that ‘house’ and after the 10 or more minute battle all the new players rush into the house to find that there’s no chest, no reward, it drops one single item that has a very slim chance of being anything besides blue and is a much more satisfying battle. I would love to see that one have a chest of non-dragon-time-limited-effort-negating kind.
Just wish people would understand the morale part better. If you just defend the tower and stop killing everything in the middle of the dome, the morale goes down twice as fast. It is a wave defense type thing. You can actually finish the morale faster than the other side can take down the veteran if you do it properly.
These partially exist already in some Norn areas (Gendarran Fields – Vollym’s Battle Pit poi – Snowblind Waypoint) where you get to choose the difficulty of your encounter.
There’s one where you choose the door for the animal you want to fight and it sends a few waves at you (it’s a heart somewhere).
Then there’s the ‘instanced’ version where you go inside a caged area with a bunch of different veterans and try to survive.
Hopefully they do that game-wide and not just in wvw. It’s not entirely useful in pve when you can’t see the boss because he’s being culled instead of the players.

Just imagine if every single store out there had their own currency. And banks refused to convert currency to something you could use in another store. There can’t be a ‘black market conversion agent’ either because it’s all soul/account bound. That is what Anet is doing to the game right now. New content = new currency.
I got almost a million karma and nothing to spend it on (I don’t want to fill up my storage with whatever karma gets me for a legendary). I have several of each dungeon token but only because I had to for the monthly, so nothing to spend those on – don’t really like dungeons but can’t convert those stupid tokens to something useful to me. And various other item based currencies that I really don’t want to waste the storage on but it’s a ‘currency’ thus has more value than gold so I hold onto it in hopes of using it later.
I’ve made a few threads on this earlier, but they just keep piling on the currencies and doing nothing about the logistics of it all.
I can stack 250 of each but you HAVE TO HAVE more than a stack for some items… really really bad design decision.
Why does anet care if I have enough of some other currency to buy it with? That just means there aren’t enough useful things to buy with the already existing currencies.
Karma: I did good deeds, acquired karma and now I have absolutely nothing to buy with it (aside from that orrian something-or-other box). I can’t convert the equity of it to something else that might interest me more so I just accumulate more of it forever until it maxes out.
Like you said, in WvW, I’m simply affording the ability to use it for guild events too.
I don’t have my guild icon on the world map do I? If you’re going to make a squad, let people know, then you’ll get the people who want to be in a squad to follow you around instead of a mass zerg just following the shiny leader. There’s far more value in a leader that has a competent squad than one that just has people in a squad.
First time I saw one I though it was a GM, was one of the beta events and everyone was following during an event.
Anyway, I don’t really care, it’s just obnoxious in cities when it covers the NPC icons if you’re a new player or don’t frequent those cities much. Or figure out a different way to show the NPC and other map icons and the commander icon if they’re going to overlap.
Did you add something into the sigil slot? I’ve noticed that some crafted items will soulbind if you do – cost me a lot of money when I did that…

and some others that spawn some kind of glowing ghost instrument and when you /* they’ll play something nice together.
/campfire you sit down on a log and a campfire is spawned and you start roasting marshmellows and drinking ale.
The commander icon should only be visible to the squad members as only the squad members are affected by the commander and the only thing the commander can really do is add special waypoints to the map for his/her squad that only the squad members can see.
Done.
I got some from the bl-chest 2 days ago when I decided that keys and chests were taking up 2 slots in my bank and I didn’t want them to.
my level 30 thief is 3 times as powerful as my necro, my level 27 elementalist is 2 times as powerful as my necro. My necro is 80 in full exotics.
Necro needs a boost (and I don’t care about that one build with that one set of skills and traits that make it ok in one part of the game).
I’m really good with my necro but it takes quite a while longer for me to kill something and comparing that to my little thief it feels like my necro is just tickling the enemies to death.
Some enemies are paper and I can tear through them in groups, but there’s some that just take forever for my necro whereas my thief can tear through it in seconds.
It resets on the 28th of every single month. The game was launched on the 28th. Anet is using a ‘fiscal month’ type of thing with this.
I hate supporting companies that punish their customers for using their product in a way they didn’t anticipate. Can’t wait for Apple to buy Anet.
Everything else about the update was great but you destroyed a great event by killing our rewards – the frozen maw.
Why not just change the chest instead of turning the whole chain into a karma farm?
What is wrong with your designers?
I liked everything but the chest nerf as it directly and negatively impacted the way I play. I spent some effort getting people to play in wayfarer’s foothills cause the frozen maw event was so fun to play and warranted a nice community aspect to it as well with all the other frequent events. Anet just turned that entire zone into karma farm. And I didn’t notice a single boost in quality of the loot, it’s the same as all the other runs I’ve done on it since beta. One yellow that’s hopefully not a gem type thing a green or two and a bunch of blues. That is what I get 3 or more times a play session and they just knocked it down to maybe once char/day. YAY! I now have incentive to leave the zone!!
Anet, why don’t you just come out and tell us where you want us to be? You’re obviously trying to herd us somewhere.
I generally like the updates, but you just impacted my play-style and that warrants me spending LESS TIME ON YOUR GAME.
I already have 100% map completion, I found a zone I like, you destroy the chest event, I play other games now. Thanks Anet.
Destroyed the best event in game, now all events are just karma farms. Thanks Anet. Now I have very little reason to actually play.
If it weren’t for the new story line, the somewhat large community that built up around the Frozen Maw wouldn’t even be there anymore. Thanks for nothing.
770 hours of playtime and you finally make an update that puts an angry face on me.
One yellow 1 green 4 blues and a low quality gem is all my level 80 got from the frozen maw today. I usually get 3 times that.
I can’t craft the best stuff, the best chests give crap loot now once per char/day (good luck getting your exotics now lol), everything needs a token of some sort, dungeons aren’t level appropriate now. Why do you hate loot? You want us to make communities but you keep breaking the parts that make communities. WE DON’T WANT TO ROAM AROUND, WE WANT LOOT.
{ we did it for market balance, there were too many ectos } still has orders for things that can’t be bought/sold/provided.
THE chest event for a low level area and you gimp it. That’s nice. Better gimp all the rest of them too.
I’ve gotten several exotics from frozen maw. This has already been discussed and proven in those final rest threads.
Balance is always the counter argument to diversity. Everyone must be equal! Except that we’re not all equal in the first place. If you were asked what weapon combinations to use for each profession, what would you go for? One set for high dps and one for range right? Well, that eliminates several other sets of weapons which means that the balance doesn’t exist that you’re talking about.
So what if I can crit 110% of the time on a necro, I’m still not doing any damage… yay! I can have 30,000 HP and I can get one shot by that ele who spec’d into power, prec./crit dmg. I should have DODGED it, I had plenty of time with that 1 sec. cast time.
There is no balance because all of the weapon sets aren’t useful. There are good sets for PVE and there are good sets for WvW and there are good sets for PvP and you have to spec differently for each one to be truly useful. That isn’t something you can balance without destroying one of the other play modes. Which is why I have a problem with Anet. GW1 finally separated PvE and PvP to their own modes and I could have a powerful character in PVE while having a competitive character in PVP. They somehow forgot the lesson they learned in the nearly decade of GW1 and tossed all their eggs into the same basket to start all over again.
You want to be an e-sport? STOP combining the play modes and thinking you can balance them all the same way!
Anyway, I’m all for diversity and as a jeweler I would love to see this happen. I would also like the other suggestion of being able to craft things in the design I wanted, not just the one that was provided for that recipe. A true craftsman (hell, even a novice) always employs creative license, instead of the manufacturing process we have now…
I got an 80 rare from it on my latest attempt today, so it definitely drops 80 gear. Timer is 24hr per character from what I can tell.
Problem is that with recent patches, all events and mobs have a chance to drop character level gear. As such it muddies the water of where a specific item can drop (not that anyone would have expected a exotic focus to drop from a level 20 event).
Why not? Frozen Maw is a level 11 event and it drops exotics and rares all the time and has since before all those updates.
Anyway, would love to have at least one eliminator! like “It’s NOT Zho’Qafa Catacombs”
The trading post is a web page, sometimes it loses it’s cookie that says you’re logged in and can’t seem to refresh itself so your only course of action is to shut down the entire client and restart, thus forcing you to login and get a new cookie.
They need to fix this. Also, due to it’s use of a poorly optimized backend cdn type infrastructure, it can’t seem to cache any of the assets either causing a massive amount of bandwidth waste for them.
FPS and racing games you want higher, almost all other games are fine at 30. In an mmo with pvp components you want low latency on your internet for full benefit.
Another reason for me to never bring my necro to a dragon fight… WTF ANET?!!!!!
It completely depends on the complexity of the game itself. Guild Wars 2 is just a rendering engine but it relies on the CPU for a lot of things.
For general gaming you want as good a GPU as you can afford, lots of system memory, and a decent CPU (for all the AI).
There just isn’t enough information about any of the traits to be useful.
improves power…. nice. how much?
improves damage.
improves anything.
All internal cooldowns and regular cooldowns need to be listed.
All stat increases need to be listed.
I mean there is just no telling what some of them do and that is just really poor.
They’re called Interns But yeah, I saw something about a contest for armor designs as well for something official, just can’t find it.
http://www.arena.net/blog/now-accepting-applications-for-arenanet-class-of-2013-internship
Previously you had to click on the lock icon on your inventory or bank tab to buy slots so it was an in-game coded thing with checks.
What you can do now is buy them on the gem store, which is a website embedded into the game without hooks into the game client so they may not (currently) have the ability to code the checks and balances for the gem store. This was an oversight which should be fixed as soon as possible.
There’s just something really bad about not having checks and balances in an e-commerce associated with a game with limitations like this.
You can have 8 bags per character but we’re not going to idiot proof this because MOAR MONIES!!
We’re not going to even tell you how many character slots you can have either muwahahahahaha!!!
Listen Anet, there are just some things you HAVE TO DO to avoid unnecessary use of your support system, this is one of those things. If you don’t idiot proof your purchasing system, some idiot will complain after the fact.
I use air all the time on my necro (staff/dd), It procs often enough. I tried it on my theif with a precision build and it procs every few seconds as almost all my hits are crits.
I also like the death animation when it kills on proc
Didn’t Anet say a long time ago that they would never bring GWx to any console?
And an mmo on a console? LOL there’s just too many hurdles with that level of proprietary hardware (even if it looks like standard pc components, it’s not).
The good news is that the consoles are closing the technology gap between PC’s. So now maybe ports wont be so utterly pathetic on pc’s.
You’ll eventually get enough SP for whatever you need, just because you just made it to 80 doesn’t mean you can just magically get everything right then and there. You have to earn that stuff.
Would it be ok if I said Skritt Burglar? I don’t want to be hunted down or anything
Unique event? check.
Spawns from a chest? check, but it’s not a large chest
Can be found in low level zones and high level zones? check.
I’m just kidding. It’s been confirmed to be on a list somewhere in the 14 pages of speculation and it isn’t one that has been farmed to death.
10 people @ 7 months for RNG
20 people @ 3.5 months
40 people @ 1.75 months
80 people @ .9 or whatever
160 people constantly farming it for 2 weeks should get one maybe
If anyone is on Maguuma hit me up for farming it, I’ll be in wayfarer foothills.
One can only assume that you’re a teenager by this topic. Ganking newbies is wrong, just like punching babies is wrong.
Guild Wars 1&2 are named after an event in history in the Tyrian timeline. ArenaNet (ARENA) was named because they wanted to make an e-sport type of game, they’re still working on that.
You’ll eventually get GvG and plenty of other types of PvP because that is the founding principal of the company. GW1 didn’t have GvG right out of the gate iirc. It’s only been a couple months since launch, sit back, relax, and enjoy the game.
And if you want to start drama all you have to do in all your 14 years of life is to discuss religion or politics in /map chat.
It’s been that way since the last update, not the ‘no content’ update – that was simply used to reset the events and other simple maintenance tasks.
Anet, that should be at least a weekly thing until your event bugs are sorted.
And I never mentioned FPS because EVERYONE else did, it should have been pretty obvious that was also hampering his performance, but if your connection sucks you will suck at pvp regardless of computer performance due to the latency of your commands getting to the server and the result getting back to you.
Just because you have broadband doesn’t mean you have a good connection.
www.speedtest.net
www.pingtest.net (requires Java which lately is a huge security risk)
Those will help you determine whether you need to l2p or if you just need a new graphics card.
Best: Dyes until I’ve found them all lol
Worst: everything else.
Black dye in gw1 was the best feeling ever and you could actually get that multiple times per week! Getting the best of anything in gw2 could take years as a drop.
Just because cultures trade doesn’t mean they intermix willingly. But yes there should be a slight difference between Ascalonian and Krytan peoples.
Ascalonians were more plains type people – cool and dry zone.
Kryta was more of a ocean-side jungle with some swampland – warm and sea-breezed areas.
Anyway, 250 years is not enough time to negate color differences between races.
It’s a holdover from a gw1 gear check, it was only useful against 1 type of enemy. They brought it to gw2 and now it’s only useful for 1 area. See the pattern? Anet likes one-trick-dolyaks.
Instead of implementing it in a useful way that meant something to the game, they added it as a simple gear check with no reasoning for it just to fit into the whole Ascended gear thing.
Please Anet, THINK HARDER, your fans want meaningful additions, not tricks.
Don’t be like Apple, adding useless things just to increase the version number.
Sorry, for those of you who don’t understand what the Original Poster (OP) is actually talking about, it is the unnatural Diminishing Returns(DR) of Dynamic Events(DE).
Yes, DR has always existed for DE’s, but it has been reasonable and only dropping by a very low percentage each time you get another infraction(you’re being punished for playing the same thing too much).
What is happening now is a bug.
I farm Frozen Maw in Wayfarer’s Foothill, prior to the bug the DR would hit for about 2% each infraction, now what happens is that it goes from 10002 exp (level 80 in level 11 area) to 500 exp. Karma goes from about 200 to about 10 or less and monetary reward goes from 1s and a couple copper to just a couple copper.
Every once in a while I get a rare off of a the Wolfmaster in Wayfarer’s Foothill (level 11 spot).
Staff 3 (already has 240 radius) is the only one that I would say is bugged, greater marks should increase that one as well, but it just makes them all 240 radius. If greater marks doubles the radius of the others, it should double the radius of ALL of them.
I love the aggro, it means that if something downs another player I can just pull it away while the rest of the players res the downed players.
Use a staff, while it is chasing you cast your staff skills in front of you. You should have no problems killing any non-ranged monster in the game with that. And since you most likely have aggro, your team mates and other players should have no problem helping you take on whatever else needs to be done.
Yes, there is a cooldown, it’s about 20 seconds, don’t know the exact time as it’s difficult to die on a timed experiment when it takes time to get to the point of death.
That’s pretty much the only time RNG is in my favor is when I’m salvaging a rare item. I usually always get 3 ecto from a rare weapon or heavy armor, the soft armors usually get me some fabric though.
I usually use the masters kit for rares but I got some black lion ones lately so I’m using those now.
They already added one currency to that update. There is currently a 1 currency per update policy, you’ll just have to hope that they add something else worthwhile to the fractals so they can use that one next time!
I can’t craft ascended(loot or token exchange) or legendary (a captured magical Djinn crafts that for you like a slave for the Lionguard).
So my crafting characters are 2 levels lower than best in slot.
When I can up my craft another 2 levels (400-600) so I can craft the ungodly expensive to make stuff, I’ll be very happy. Until then it is just a waste of time and money because I refuse to ‘specialize’ in one or two crafting recipes out of the dozens available just to make money from the two things people want on the market.
I was led to believe that I would be able to craft the best stuff – I don’t believe legendary’s count for that as I don’t actually have the skill to craft it. But I should be able to craft ascended stuff even if it costs me some random token from some new content to get it ‘blessed’ by some other random magical entity – Captured Ancient Karka eats your stuff and bites an infusion slot into your whatever.
The loot from a dragon chest is why I don’t do dragons at all anymore. Greens and blues? really? no thanks. The fight takes way too long and is too epic for that kind of ‘reward’.
Get rid of the blues and greens from the drop tables and I’ll frequent the dragon events, until then I’ll do more lucrative and satisfying events.
Once the portals and shamans and guards spawn, they are over leveled according to how many players are there – their max level is 14 (3 levels higher than you). All other parts of the event chain the monsters (grawl assault, protect section, and the Shaman guy himself (norn & elemental phase)) are level 10.
The boss should be scaled up like the rest of the monsters in that part of the event. All other parts of the event – assault and protection phase should have higher spawn rates than current.
Whether you solo or have a huge group, the assault on Krennek’s Homestead has exactly the same amount of grawl. The protection phase goes from 4 (solo) to 8 grawl in the initial fight on the lake, same amount for both at the Svanir cave where they come from, and the icebrood that spawn on the lake at the end are 4 each portal (solo) and 6 or 8 max with a level of 10-14.
You have to consciously fail this event, there is no possibility that a group can fail as even at it’s highest level you can solo it (as a ranged character at least) since the spawns are only level 14.
But, as a low level non-equipped player it can be more difficult.
The only thing that makes it even a slight challenge for higher level characters is when the icebrood at the portals are level 14 and some squishy engineer thinks they can take them all on and ends up running the train back to the group and dies right in front of you.
The other issue is that the Shaman himself in either form is still level 10 no matter how many people are playing the event, he should scale as well and he really does need more skills in his elemental form.
Shaman form he has 2 ranged skills that pack a punch even for a necro, but when he enters his elemental form he has 2 melee skills that can sometimes one hit you. But in his elemental form, he has a standoff distance that is outside of the range of his AOE ‘hulk smash’ skill so ranged players only have to deal with the falling ice and tornadoes while rezing melee players.
The falling ice and tornadoes are easily countered by standing in certain places that never get hit, the tornadoes should move around (sorry, it had to be said). Falling ice should happen more often and be in more random locations.
And you’re not ‘WAY OVERLEVELED!! OMG!!’ you simply have all your equipment which a level 1-15 will not have at all. You have your trinkets, all pieces of your armor, the stats you actually want and not whatever you can get that has bigger numbers than what you had. All your stats are beneficial to the build you’ve made, you got your traits all set as well which a level 1-15 may have just figured out they can do stuff with them now.
You’re level 11 in that event, just like everyone else – except for the random level 6 that ran up there past all the monsters, you know that guy, the one you got your daily healer achievement from!
I level up all my character on the Maw, it’s no different at level 10 than it is at 80 except that at lower levels I don’t have access to almost all of my stuff.
Anyway, it’s tough enough, but it doesn’t exactly level up in all parts properly for the amount of participants.

Necro has a trait that if you go D/D you get 25% boost in speed.
