There are 3 ways to move your character in gw2
keyboard only, not recommended, extremely slow.
right mouse button down and mouse move + keyboard, preferred way to move (standard for most games)
right and left mouse buttons down and mouse move; holding the right mouse button down allows for camera movement, holding the left mouse button down at the same time allows your character to move forward (only).

If you have ‘free camera’ option on your character will move independently of the camera direction. With ‘free camera’ off your character is locked in the direction of the camera.

It would be an easy fix if they just added another one somewhere else, like in the water in Lion’s Arch or allowed you to get it from someone else’ home instance version.

I can do 5 out of like 12 daily achievements to get the reward for dailies, but for something like this I have to have every single one of them to get it. This is the second event that this type of thing has happened to me and this one will not self-correct no matter how many times I go to every single one of them ( I did dulfy’s guide after it was complete two times and still can’t get it ). I got the meta from doing the daily version of it to get the points instead.

I second this, playing an elementalist with staff d/d is a pain to swap weapons since we don’t have the NATIVE ABILITY! I would also be interested in weapon swapping with a 1 minute cooldown… But I want the bag, the standard equipment bag doesn’t cut it as you can still sell your stuff with it.

It should be account/soul-bound so items get put in there for easier weapon/gear swapping.

Just because you had 23/24 and actually missed one doesn’t mean the rest of us didn’t double check every single one and still can’t get it.

I’ve been interrupted several times but was able to get them I believe, so I have no idea which one is corrupted for me. I hit each one twice and can’t get it. Not that a scroll of knowledge is something I’m interested in but it means that I also can’t get the meta…

Proper mouselook option

Option to not have to hold down the right mouse button for mouselook like in FPS games. This way you would be able to find your mouse cursor for ground targeting instead of hoping it is where you want it to be when you hit the skills. This would also open up the right mouse button for additional use/keybinding.

1000 is like the little escort ones, 8500 is like major boss ones.
Fire elemental has a huge area circle during one of the pre-event phases that circles just inside the entire building for example.
Somewhere inside this forum is the circle to map translation.
GW2Stuff may be adjusting the size/location of some of the circles manually.
Some events move, I don’t believe the API gives current GPS type location info, only starting location info.

Due to the way URLs are handled by browsers and servers, the acceptable length of a URL is 2083 characters max (thanks to IE). With that amount of character space, you can get a maximum of 54 events at a time using a comma separated list in the URL at a time.
Most browsers aside from IE will handle up to 64k characters per url, but servers also have limits so it’s usually a good idea to keep them from exceeding 2000 characters total, granting you 52 events at a time.

During beta the check box that currently filters things that are currently available was used to filter items the character could use like armor and weapons. The API had it as &weight=[int] parameter, now &weightclass=[int].

Staff marks work just fine, but wells and dagger offhand Enfeebling Blood and all well skills are cast behind the player if you don’t mouse target ( if you just click the skill on the bar with your mouse ). This causes the player to turn around and stop attacking.

I think the casting center is slightly behind the center of the skill. It started happening this update (October 1, 2013). This happens occasionally with updates but is usually corrected in following updates. Hoping they’ll see it this time too

If I request an id that doesn’t exist, that is the designers problem for deleting items and not using the ID again; but since it doesn’t exist, a 404 is expected on my front end so I can tell the user that item doesn’t exist.

If there is actually an internal error on the server I expect a 5xx.

All other errors are my fault and should be 4xx and I don’t particularly care which one since I’m only checking for the first number of the error code (4).
In all those cases and timeouts, the user doesn’t get to see anything and ultimately it is my problem for not getting the data properly.

It is nice to get 5xx so I can tell the user that the service is currently down or the more friendly: “We are experiencing high demand at the moment, please check back in a few minutes”.

A non 404 4xx probably means I screwed up and I’ll try one more time to get the data just in case it wasn’t me. A second fail without a 404 and I tell the user “Please check your spelling…”

I only really care about 200, 404, and 500. Anything else is extraneous programming on both our parts. If an error happened, toss me some more detailed info and we’re both happy The number of the error doesn’t do me much good but the detail info does both of us good.

Does the parameter &weight=[0,1,2] no longer do anything? I think it was 0,1,2 but it might be 1,2,3. It was used to filter out light, medium, and heavy armor types in the beginning.

tested 1: yep, it doesn’t do anything now… that’s a shame since it worked beautifully.
tested 2: &weightclass=[integer] is a parameter but integer values don’t return anything useful – still getting mixed weight classes returned (heavy,medium,light).

So math is tough but I haven’t seen anyone actually come up with a better system than utilizing the inherent function in every programming language on the planet called the random number generator and apply it to a probability table or multiple tables like GW2 does.
Rolling dice is exactly what the RNG does. Rolling that die happens for EVERY SINGLE DROP thus it will never average out. Average means that there are multiple samples over time; a single drop cannot average out, it is already at it’s minimum, maximum, average, mean, and all other statistical words that you may want to apply to multiple samples because it is nearly all of them at the same time because x*1 = x and x/1 = x…

I’m sure that if they want to burn through cpu cycles they could come up with a genetic(Metaheuristic) or fractal algorithm to choose your loot for you. Or maybe they could eliminate one of the tables and ask you which of the items you’d like of that randomly selected quality level in a window for each and every single enemy that you kill…

Your WoW example is flawed since it just adjusts the drop table by a very small amount each kill for whatever loot that monster is supposed to drop. It doesn’t “fix” RNG, it just adjusts the probability a tiny bit each kill.

It’s not like they’re ever going to bust out:

I don’t like the RNG any more than the next person, in fact I got better loot before they started messing with rewards. Now I get a rare for certain events and plenty of Ectos from them but I can’t seem to get any Ori out of anything now. Wood and Cloth yay.

I look forward to the day when someone posts an efficient loot algorithm that beats the efficiency of yourLootItemNumber=rng(100000); | it’s more complex than that but still very fast |

The day games don’t NEED to use RNG will be an interesting day and I hope I live long enough to play those games.

You can’t place a buy order for less than merchant price NOW, in the beginning the market was unrestricted and you could, then later they added a check to it.

They do plan on cleaning the market, just not right now, it’s very very low on the priority list but it would be really nice to not have that inconvenience.

Currently I have to go through the process of buying gems to trade for items in the store, it would be nice if I could just purchase and have the gold-to-gem conversion happen automatically.

Why do I want this? cause sometimes I just want to buy something without having to input random currency values for 30 minutes to get the gem value I need.

It would also be nice if in the gold to gem conversion I could just input how many gems I want and it would do the math for me instead of “I wonder how much I have to input for 800 gems” each time I want to buy something or just invest in gems.

The BLTC has a history feature but the gem store just shows what you bought. I had a random amount of gems left over after purchasing gems for gold and then buying things but I’m sitting at 0 gems apparently so I lost a few somehow…
I would like to have the history of the gem store include gems purchased, not just items. You can replace the false “Market Data” section on the home page since it’s nowhere near close to accurate (see screenshots).

Monkeys, bunnies, snakes, turtles, alligators, frogs, bananas. Which of those exist in Tyria?
Snakes did, then we stomped them from existence, frogs & rabbits are still in game, bananas don’t move on their own, and spiders don’t dance. Monkeys/Apes should have been in Southsun. The Maguuma region could still include snakes, turtles, alligators, and more frogs too. The world hasn’t been completed yet so there’s still time for walking bananas too!

It’s a video game(SAB), there doesn’t have to be a precedence for inclusion of random things.

It could be assumed that it’s what some of the more racist Asura call Norn since they are always drunk Norn are also naturally in the Shiverpeak mountains (hills).

Follow the twitch video, from that safe spot #1, you can jump from the corner of it to the corner of the ledge on the other side (you wont think you can but it’s possible). From there, #2, you never have to touch acid again to get to the life and 50 baubles (dig at the life spot) #3. #4 is overview of area from unfogged spot above life and 2 25 bauble chests.

Enjoy your new life and dig spot. There’s nothing else in the area except for more acid, a few snakes that throw 3 acid projectiles and dead ends.

P.S. if you want to take your life in your hands, there is a way to get to the life and complete the entire maze, the way up is past the snakes to the back right corner (facing the snakes from the safe spot #1. It’s a maze there too though but it provides the proper way up I suppose.

Tried using flute, bombs, etc. in the green water area?

Flute will get you killed, bombs don’t do anything.

In your last screenshot there is a little rock a bit separated from the wall. You actually can jump that platform. You can even reach a “lake” of acid where there are few frogs, but I didt saw anything special except for a life

I tried for an hour trying to get up the first waterfall in the screenshot from every angle, distance jumps, dodge-jumps, etc. and failed continually and that’s why there’s no more screenshots from me!

edit: I take it back, I made it up to that rock finally… first try today lol But after that is a really long maze. And found this if anyone is interested in a video of it:

Timer shouldn’t exist here. I get 10 second timers almost everywhere solo and then there’s the 40+ and I’m like “what am I missing that I need 40 seconds to find?”.

“Boss has been activated, be there or miss out! HURRY!” warning…

Pretty much the only thing you can do is open the chest as soon as it’s available and then go for the rest of the stuff and hope you can get it all.

About the #3 fast cast on mouse-up, when I mouse-down will it show the target circle? That is the only thing that interests me as a Necro staff user. Anything to speed it up and remove the 12345 and you missed one of them due to longer cast time being overridden by the next skill casting. Really hate the skill queue system in that regard.

Queue up the next skill but if it starts casting and has a long cast time, the next skill you touch overrides and cancels the previous… Elementalist staff #5, touch any other skill before it’s done and you cancel the full duration/effect and get a half-a** version of it.

Literally the only thing I want to cancel a long cast skill is movement or dodge of my character, not any other skills.

Merchant at the beginning on the left, push block on the right, use a bomb on the wall to reveal in #1 screenshot.
Climb to the top and it’s just like the cannons in the hub in #2 screenshot.
Do a shallow drop into the cannon and you’ll land on #3 screenshot plant (it’ll eat you).
Climb up the limb and you’ll be set for the poison maze in #4 screenshot.

Unfortunately there’s no apparent way through the maze. You have to jump through it but there’s only one safe spot and it is on the first corner (#5 screenshot), the end of the second row is a poison waterfall that you can’t jump up to (#6 screenshot). #7 is the dead end you can’t jump up on.

The Priory is concerned about the link between the new violent video games and violent behavior in children, Moto has been tasked with determining any such link through his edutainment device “Super Adventure Box”.

World 1 was designed with altruism in mind and low levels of aggressive behavior from the game characters; would children prioritize saving the princess over the accumulation of shiny baubles? How would the children react to cute fuzzy monkeys throwing coconuts at them? Would they avoid the poison spitting snakes or take matters into their own hands?

World 2 continues on the premise of saving the princess as well as increasing the level of character aggression. Bauble count was also increased to see if there was a link between reward and aggressive behavior. This world introduced various other stimuli to reward exploration and outside the cube thinking. This world was also increased significantly in length to determine any link between player aggression or frustration and exhaustion in such an environment.

The Priory looks forward to World 3 in the coming days.

Leaves at the end of the month, but World 3 should be here soon. SAB will return cause they still have to add world 4. It’s like Halloween and Wintersday and New Year (or whatever it’s called now), they’ll return at predefined times throughout the year.

I’ve done them many many times and I am usually standing inside the chest at the end when the timer runs out and I’m sent to the next zone. I’ve also done w1z1-2 in trib mode. Guess I’ll do a single pass and go through them all in one session and see if that will do anything.

The biggest problem this game has is no 64bit support. With that the game could load up shared resources and keep them in memory instead of unloading and reloading all the assets every single time. This single thing would speed up loading times for all zones that share assets. Maguuma, Kryta, Orr, Shiverpeaks, Ascalon, etc. All of the NPC’s are dressed exactly the same, the flora and fauna are exactly the same, the bad guys are exactly the same. The only thing I’d have to load is the map, scripts, other supporting things and the player data. Porting around in a zone or world area that has similar looks (shiverpeaks zones) should not have a loading screen at all in that scenario as they aren’t that big in the first place.

Bandwidth and latency are your biggest bottleneck even though loading a zone doesn’t really use much of it. The game can nearly be played on dial-up in low pop zones, wouldn’t want to do it in a large meta-event though!

I have mine installed on a usb3 flash drive with a read speed faster than my hard drives, a few minutes ago it took 20 seconds flat and 372.4Kb download to get into LA at the mystic forge. My connection never maxed, it just streamed data to me slowly (see pic).

Yeah it really sucks, solo it’s even shorter, barely had enough time to get back to the tribulation w1z3 boss stump after getting murdered by the trap while collecting my baubles up there ( that trap should be disabled after beating the boss, it’s not fair to kill me after I won ).

Dulfy didn’t actually make the jump, she got stomped, ended up under the rock, jumped real fast after getting up and got tossed up there during the jump. For that jump and all other jumps with that rock monster, if there isn’t a slightly higher than floor level to jump onto it from, you need to dodge jump to get the distance to get to its safe spot on top of it. That jump nearly requires luck, the fortunes of the gods, Moto’s forgiveness, and Asuran quickness to make it.

The problem with many of the things (water spouts, jumping rocks, several other things) is that they register hits on the apex of the animations (up animation) instead of when they’ve reached the bottom of the cycle like the water spout kills you at the top, not the bottom when it is fully in the water where it should trigger it and the same goes for the jumping rocks in tribulation mode.

The 1 second refresh for most of the animation cycles is bad too cause it takes you 1 second to go through your ‘get up’ cycle so you have .1 seconds to dodge/jump to safety.

It’s hard enough to get out of the water if you’re really fast, it should probably just sweep you back while taking 1/2 heart without the blowback mechanic. Since you now have the moving log mechanic, you can do that with water too. For some areas like the frogger thing, change the color of the water to indicate depth and insta-kill you there or put piranhas in it.

Screenshot (trib mode) I’ve spent more time and lives on this single aspect than the entirety of the game so far. This rock jumps and hits you before you can get out of your ‘get up’ animation cycle, this jump to the safe spot (that requires you to use the jumping rock itself to get to) is absolutely pure luck. Not to mention that if he knocks you to a spot left or right of the safe area and you’re still on it but your body hangs over the lava pit while downed, you die. So if my feet are still in the safe zone ( i could stand up if I weren’t getting knocked down all the time) I would be safe still but my hair is hanging into the pit so I die.

Everything pretty much fires off in 1 second intervals and our native ‘get up’ skill takes .99 seconds lol

If the SAB stuff wouldn’t trigger at apex (after the ‘up’ animation) and do it on completion of the up/down cycle it would be more complete(professional) and not as bugged.

So the jumping rocks in tribulation mode aren’t all that fun.
Yes, they’re really simple as long as you can get out of their hit radius before they reach their apex but they should be doing their blowout when they hit the ground, not when they’ve reached the top of their jump, it just doesn’t make sense.
I know, they do their blowout when they touch the ground, but the server marks you as in radius when they reach the apex of their jump, not when they hit the ground and you are way outside of the radius.

Oh, and we need a /deaths for SAB. Anet, I hope you’re taking stats on how many deaths people are incurring in here, would be interesting to know, along with how much time it took on average to get through it or to each checkpoint.

Hit detection for everything needs to be increased with the exception of the jumping rocks, those will hit you if you’re not in range as long as you were within range when they hit their apex instead of when they hit the ground.

Why would you throw away something that you bought from the store? The SAB will be an infinitely recurring thing like halloween, wintersday, etc.

Personally I would like it in the currency pouch but since it’s all neatly organized we’ll have to wait for a couple more currencies to be added so as to not destroy the nice table structure <.<

Magic Find Items: … Since all weapons, armor, and trinkets with magic find will become account bound, any of these items currently on the Trading Post will be return to the poster.

So clearly they can do mass returns so it is a perfect time to clear out all of the items that can’t be traded any more.
