I think the next toy they add to the game should be a fishing pole with special animation if you have the fish mini-pet active.
Aright, I’ll say it, put the KEYS in the CURRENCY tab then. Add all currencies to the tab (if it’s only used on a certain single thing, put it in the CURRENCY tab).
Black Lion Chests…
Look, if it’s stackable in our inventory it should be in material storage.
New area psuedo currencies you keep adding: Shovels, Chak Acid, Crowbars, Machetes, Silky Sand(yeah yeah ‘salvages’ into something else maybe), Exalted Keys, Bandit Skeleton Keys (KEYS!). Maybe all of those are considered keys since they ‘open’ a chest somewhere so toss them into the currency tab too. Hire me and I’ll waste my spare time doing it for you!
ALL of the festival stuff that can only be attained during festivals should go in material storage (GJ on the Halloween stuff, Wintersday stuff needs a little help but there’s more festivals). Coins from SAB, all the stackable parts from wintersday (socks and stuff), whatever we get during the Festival of the Winds.
Default storage for certain materials should be increased – I’m looking at you Bloodstone Dust that comes with everything these days and yes I think I have the thing that eats it but it’s daily limited so that’s not super useful.
There’s probably a large array of other things to add that I don’t know cause I don’t play that game mode but still.
KEYS in CURRENCY TAB. COLLECTIBLES in MATERIALS STORAGE (should rename it since it’s multi-purpose now).
Game user interfaces are generally created with Adobe Flash – yeah I know… and Flash interfaces are usually done with svg (scalable vector graphics) and so many interfaces will scale great with your resolution changes.
This is not the case with ArenaNet. They chose a highly stylized bitmap interface so it doesn’t actually scale properly at all, not to mention that the default setting was designed to work on an 800×600 screen resolution. Making it scalable to 4k or higher would be a tremendous amount of work and I doubt they’ll even try. The interface they have right now scales poorly and stretches fonts improperly and simply refuses to work well on multi-monitor setups. But there could be hope for it later, Guild Wars 1 eventually got an interface upgrade.

3 of the faces are in the giant tree stumps there.
I hate repeating myself but since your achievement rewards now reward mastery experience, I have no choice.
IF I HAVE NO POINTS TO ALLOCATE TO THE MASTERY TRACKS THEN ALL THE EXPERIENCE IS WASTED!!! Because it’s stuck behind a wall called a mastery point. It gets randomly allocated to any open line in the base line it’s attached to but when those fill up, you just don’t have a pool to add more to.
The achievements for this seasons pre-season warm up are granting a ‘book’ that gives mastery experience upon receipt which means those are absolutely worthless to someone that doesn’t have the points to allocate the existing experience and ‘empty’ the experience bar so new experience can be kept. It just goes into the mists.
Fix this. please.
GW2 64bit version locked up my computer twice with a memory management error in windows 10 64bit. (no additional details available…)
The first time was in the Guild Initiative HQ when I talked to the Human who shows you the guild hall. At the end of the cinematic it locked up my computer.
The second time was in the LA Aerodrome when I tried to enter one of the rectangular portals. As soon as I touched it my computer locked up.
That’s an intermediary teleport location, if you go to the middle and jump up, you’ll teleport up to the platform where the champ is.
When you jump down into the pit, just above the water is a teleport zone which brings you to the platform above it with the champ. Lag can sometimes make you miss the teleport zone in the pit and you fall into water, jumping will let you hit the zone and get back up to the champ platform.
But that other part is definitely a bug, getting into there without a key.
So master experience is normally allocated to the mastery you choose in the base tree that you’re in (HoT, Central Tyria). When you can no longer accept the mastery experience in that base tree (you ran out of mastery points to use) any new mastery experience you attain goes into a random one – it’s not really random but still.
However, once the first tier mastery is full of experience and you’re out of points, all additional experience you attain goes into the mists, it just disappears, it doesn’t go into the next tier, everything just stops.
The attack location is a hidden object, if your pet/golem can’t hit it it means that the hit location needs to be lowered closer to the ground so they can, it’s a design flaw that they’ve addressed before but there are several other places where your pet/golem can’t hit.
- Golem Mark II boss, the central hit location is too high for golems to find but if you ‘Charge!’ your golem to it, they can start to attack it, I don’t know if it affects melee pets.
- Claw of Jormag ice wall, the hit location is too high for pets and golems (probably intentional though).
That’s all I can think of right now, there’s more though. Shadow Behemoth was one of them that they fixed.
Ditto, 32 bit works fine, 64 bit is 1kb/s download.
Would be great if they both downloaded the same stuff but no, apparently they don’t. I have the 32bit -image on a schedule but have to download stuff with the 64bit one every time, really annoying.
I noticed this as new today along with the change to the party member icon on the mini-map being a different color and a few pixels larger.
Why does it shimmer, it seems random and for no reason. It doesn’t shimmer for party members or squad members or randoms in the map so why does it shimmer? I’m not doing anything special, it’s just weird.
You can totally do that for stacks. One click one action is their policy. It’s very useful for luck and bags and buying things you need large numbers of that don’t have a confirmation message.
Yeah, just copy the whole folder over. Bonus! you can also run gw2 from the external drive. Loading times will vary based on connection type, drive type, etc.
Ding ding ding Ding ding ding Ding ding ding – anonymous troll with a choir bell.
Also, the clicking sound from Lich Form #1 it is abnormally loud and obnoxious.
Diminishing Returns is only a feature if you simply farm the same champ over and over or are farming in the same area too much (except for silverwastes).
There’s no cap to rewards though, so have fun.
- Normal bags don’t prioritize loot.
- Equipment bags will fill up with equipment first (armor, weapons)
- Crafting bags will fill up with crafting materials first
- Safe/Invisible bags are mostly used to hold your spare equipment, boosters, extra weapon sets, things you don’t want to ever show up in the merchant/trading post windows.
For me I have a few regular bags and 2 invisible/safe bags for my boosters/extra weapon sets, toys, etc.
Yes, this is annoying, I’ve noticed it as well.
You’re beta testing NEW features that aren’t released, what other reward were you hoping for? you want them to send you a signed copy of the collectors edition? want 2000 gems? how about a few thousand gold instead?
This is an Arenanet beta, you never get to keep anything that happens during beta periods on beta characters. If you earned it on a beta, you get it deleted when the beta is over. Simple as that and it has always been this way.
The only thing that is different is that you don’t have to log into a special beta account or beta client as they’ve simplified it for you. Stop being confused by simple things, it’s why we have the NPE!
This is an Arenanet beta event, you don’t ever get to keep anything in a beta event for their games, nothing has changed. Be happy you get to test things for them and don’t get your hopes up that the precursor you just got will get deleted…
Large files don’t regularly need to be defragged but if it has that many fragments then yes, you should defrag it. I defrag after updates.
Additional points of interest:
1. Try not to install your games on the same physical drive as your operating system and the pagefile as loading times will suffer greatly. If at all possible, place your OS, pagefile, and games on different physical drives as well.
2. Defragging allows for faster load times when all associated files are in the same physical location on a disk (most defraggers don’t care about folder hierarchy though which sucks for gamers).
3. You can install GW and GW2 on flash drives, external drives, and even network shares, just be sure it’s USB 2 or higher.
I don’t know what the situation is with that computer but you can probably turn off anything that loads at startup and improve your system performance, reduce the amount of ram everything needs, and reduce the amount of paging your OS needs to do when things get loaded constantly.
Scan for viruses and malware/spyware, etc.
You can have it as a fractal if you vote for Evon Gnashblade in next years elections!
Jump on the world boss train and see how many people care if you’re standing on the same box as them! We will gladly share our spot with 100 other people for the glory of BOX!!
While I try not to be entitled or elitist or anti-f2p:
Now that f2p are taking up slots in the starter zones, can we get some of the non-scheduled world bosses to be scheduled in their place or in addition to their time slot like the legendaries overlap normals.
It’s getting to the point of near failure in those zones now and some of the other bosses are more fun/interesting anyway. A failure scenario means you practically missed the next boss in the rotation as well.
It doesn’t indicate that you can only purchase x more of these at this price.
I would say non-descript lore because it’s not that well protected, I mean some random adventurer just walked in and took a picture of it… It can’t be Glint’s egg due to the lack of protection and the fact that you’re not supposed to know Glint had eggs.
World Bosses
- Golem Mark II: Removed the boxes.
- Frozen Maw: Added more snowflakes.
- The Shatterer: Looks to the right now, uses new skill Glare which causes 30 seconds vulnerability, 10 seconds of fear, 4 minutes of burning if more than 20 players are standing on the rocks.
- Jungle Wurm, occasionally submerges and when reemerging, swallows up to 30 players for 20 seconds causing poison then expels them at other players in the area causing aoe poison damage.
- Shadow Behemoth, added 10 more portals.
- Taidha Covington, added 30% more health to the gate, increased duration of invulnerability 4 seconds so she can reach the beach and trigger her full event sequence.
- Modniir Ulgoth, talks smack personally to individual players with new text-to-speech engine, turns all players into hummingbirds during first 30 seconds of fight. Hummingbirds have 1 skill: Fight the wind! speed increased by 33%, if struck by tornado player will be downed instantly.
- Fire Elemental, reintroduced original event, good luck everybody!
- Claw of Jormag, removed limit on consecutive fears, extended range of blue ice zone.
- Tequatl the Sunless, there’s something in the water, and it’s piranhas; players standing in water take 1 stack(5s) of bleeding damage each second.
Class Balance
- Ranger: removed cooldown on Longbow #4
- Necromancer: removed healing skills due to Death Shroud being a second health pool and life siphon being available in traits.
- Thief: increased base speed to 33%, all other speed boosts add to this.
Racial Changes
- Asura: increased height by 50%, reduced size of all ears by 30%
- Charr: removed tail clipping issues by putting a tail sleeve in all clothing. Changed tail design to be more bovine like.
- Sylvari: to reduce the amount of cannibalism, Sylvari can no longer be chefs.
- Human: no changes, human master race!!
- Norn: due to the solo nature of the Norn culture, Norn can no longer form or join parties.
Do you have another hard drive for the rest of your games or are you relying solely on your new SSD (also, how big is it?)
Don’t know how long it’s been but it’s been a long time.
Upon first loading a map when you use the Hero panel, your character will be displayed in the wrong colors until you close and open the Hero panel again.
Also, what’s up with the low quality screenshots? trying to push us to use 3rd party tools???
Today’s quality:
(JPEG, quality: 75, subsampling ON (2×2))
Launch quality:
(JPEG, quality: 94, subsampling ON (2×2))
extracted from screenshots with irfanview.
Since the last update that changed the character select screen functionality:
The icons are displaying the wrong background image and the character portrait is extremely bright (so bright my characters are all squinting).
All of my characters are parked in Wayfarer Foothills which is a Shiverpeaks background, but they’re all showing the Maguuma background image.
On windows 10 with new drivers, blah blah blah, mine flickers or maybe stutters or skips frames, I’m not sure what you would call it but it is extremely annoying and very prominent.
On windows 7 I could restart the aero process to fix this but windows 10 doesn’t have that so I’m not sure what ‘desktop window manager(dwm)’ process is creating the problem.
gw2 says I’m getting 18-50 frames like normal but the graphics card isn’t rendering them all, it acts like it’s skipping half of them. I’m not sure that previous drivers will even install properly on windows 10 and they had the same problem anyway, it’s just that they could be worked-around…
anyway, waits for 64bit games, can’t believe OS’s still come in 32bit flavor…
I run gw2 from a usb 3 flash drive and it’s faster than my hard drives. Almost as fast as an ssd.
GW2 on the K: drive in the image.
I’m glad I don’t have any human characters, a wedding mini-skirt with train really isn’t appealing. I mean maybe today’s generation with their super loose morals would think it was awesome but this just screams “look at my panties!” It’s better on the Norns but it still looks like an Asura tent.
Yes, you can rebind all you want, the thing you can’t do is make complex macros (with the exception of the music)
So you can make one of your mouse buttons hit your skill #5 but you can’t make one of your mouse buttons hit 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,3,2,5,2,4,5,7,8
Yeah and even if you go into the training panel to get rid of the (!) it just shows back up on map change. Minor visual inconvenience but it’s still a bug.
Mine is the same fps but it seems to skip half of the frames, tons of jitter when turning. It’s really annoying and I can’t figure out what’s causing it. That didn’t happen with Win7, all was smooth.
Also the scratch/bleep sounds when any directx game starts.
The only issue I have is that if you want to use Cortana to do anything useful it will ask you for a microsoft account, well, instead of just linking that account to your local account (the one you login with on your computer) it replaces it with your microsoft account.
Same with the xbox app, in order to use it you have to manage your computer with a microsoft account.
These wouldn’t be such an issue if this was a phone, tablet, or an xbox but it’s my pc and their sync stuff doesn’t work yet – technically doing this microsoft account stuff allows you to login on a friends computer and have your settings and stuff available, but it sometimes just overwrites yours with the settings on the friends computer, screwing you pretty good on your computer.
Anyway, Cortana has along way to go before she’s useful as far as I can tell and as long as it requires me to replace my local computer account with a microsoft one, she’s a no-go for me.
yeah it looks like a display/retrieval issue than loss of anything. Aside from the SMAA options just not being present.
Screenshot for info. After the update some of us are without training and don’t have enough points to retrain, it’s probably just a display bug cause I still have all my skills available.
I’m using a usb3 flash drive and loading in 3-7 seconds. You may indeed need to -repair but you may also need to defrag badly – especially if gw2 is on the same drive as your OS.
You guys read too much into simple job ads. Arenanet creates a game for PC platform, PC platform comes in many different platforms itself from different windows versions to different hardware systems, all of which are unique platforms – also, in the context of the job ad, platform simply means PC and server. 99% of the game engine is on the server, your pc is just a rendering and input machine for the data sent to and from the server. Multi-platform means pc/server. You’re not going to get a native anything but windows client, sorry. Also, HR likes to just toss as many buzzwords as possible on job ads to get the best possible candidates, so don’t read too much into the directX line Oh, and Anet, DirectX 9 is not a current-gen graphics api.
Containers spawn leveled items upon opening, their contents are not predefined (they wouldn’t stack if that was the case). So, the loot is determined by the level of the player who opens them.
Back in my day new players just sucked it up and looked around at the interface, now we have to tell them where the graphics options are… new player pandering has to stop!
They didn’t design the gem store for longevity, someone forgot to do the research into e-commerce solutions before implementing the gem store as a side project. If they keep everything on the current version forever, you’ll simply scroll forever hoping to find the thing you’re looking for; yeah they have a search feature but good luck with that, they’re naming convention is weak: backpacks can be named backpack, back item, back piece, backpack set, back item skin, backpack skin, backpack skin set, backpack cover. Some items that are skins and are marked as skins, others are not marked as skins (ex. masks, hats).
At least they categorized things – some things. Future proofing needs work and all the interfaces need updating. But they wont get nearly the gems if they bring everything back at 2-3x the price, they’re already high enough. They’re doing an asian firesale type of thing with the gem store and most of the players aren’t so it doesn’t really work like they wanted it to. They need to bring everything back and have weekly sales instead.
*Beldin: I code for a living, it is just that easy, it’s actually one of the very first things you learn how to do. And I said it saves it in the user profile, they could even save it in your character settings among half a dozen other locations. How do you think the Inventory/Bank windows remember where you put your stuff? same thing is applied to the skills panel and we’re good to go.
And again for reference, they already did it in gw1. It’s a standard thing in all mmo’s except gw2. Anyway, this topic has been beaten to death since the betas and still not addressed. The only thing we can do is hope they add it later.
All of that ‘saving’ is done in the user profile, not static combinations that have to be accounted for in code.
And I’ll remind you that they already know how to do it. You don’t have to accomodate for weapon swapping anything at all, each and ever skill is it’s own object in code, you just tell the UI where to put that object and it gets put there. It’s quite simple even though it would take a couple weeks to code it out.
I brought this up in the beta, they’re overuse of the alpha channels is excessive but not enough people complained to get the design changed and so we’re stuck with it forever. At least in gw1 they changed up the interface design once in a while.
I love how they put your wallet at the very bottom corner with the blip of info about the currencies of the zone, but it should have been put at the top in the huge unused space above the search box (between the xx/100 and the settings cog) or along the side where the rest of the icons are…
And why does the scroll bar show up if all the stuff fits on the screen? Does no one there know how to do UI design?
