This happens all the time with one of the necro staff skills (it’s the shortest cast time skill). I’ll bust out (for example) 1,2,3,4,5 and notice that the one with the fastest cast time(1/4 sec iirc) is still good to go but all the slower cast time ones have fired off properly.
I have ground-targeting trait and the ‘fast-casting’ option turned off so I have to double tap. With the fast-casting option on, they all fire off properly every time, but it’s not like I’m missing the second tap on that skill – muscle memory takes care of that every time.
@flowerpower, gw1 original login screen was that way with all your characters around a campfire, it was beautiful but didn’t scale well with additional character slots.
Fun and exciting can be totally eliminated with the expectation of loot as a reward. Reward > everything else in a game. If completing the puzzle was a great experience and there was no loot, it would be great, but the fact is you are rewarded with an achievement. This achievement provides drive for some people to complete it. The addition of a chest at the end of all the puzzles is drive for others. It wouldn’t matter what type of puzzle it was, there is a reward at the end and that is what drives people to do it. The disproportionate reward for time in-puzzle is frustrating only because there is a reward at the end. But if there wasn’t a reward at the end, most people wouldn’t do these types of things. It is a double-edged sword.
Anet provides puzzles to the few who like to discover neat things and do all the content and have no reward, or provide rewards at the end so most other people will do them.
It takes me less than a minute to normally do the Shaman’s Rookery puzzle, probably the easiest possible jumping puzzle in the game, I don’t expect much in terms of loot from the chest. Then there’s the one in Orr that wants you to gather orbs to open 3 chests with, besides the WvW puzzles, it is the only pve puzzle that I have not been to a second time, let alone finished once. I don’t care what the reward is, it is way disproportionate to the amount of effort and time required to complete it for me. My OCD wants me to check all the boxes on the achievements but the frustration in me says “NO!!”.
If you don’t touch any part of the Frozen Maw:
The lake area (and the snow covered area – Rani’s armor quest area) is covered in Icebrood (dogs and elementals) from the portals and shamans spawning them.
After 15 minutes, the Shaman Chief turns into the ice guy that you fight in his second form and waits to be defeated forever.
You can do the entire event but leave one portal alone and you’ll fail the event and see what happens (you’ll only miss one medal reward if fail). With the amount of players doing the event, you will never see that happen anymore. Before the loot update I was soloing it frequently, after the update, there are at least 10 people on my server in the area when it happens.
BLTC is like EBAY and the Consortium is like some random EBAY store.
In the end they’re both subsidiaries of Arenanet lol
No, a lot of people have misinterpreted that. Anet stated that there would be no expansions in YEAR ONE of Guild Wars 2 and that there would be expansions later down the road and new ones released on a predictable schedule.
Thanks to the event, I got my first Karka Shell and Passion Flower. Now I have tons of them
makes me happy that I don’t have to shell out g’s to get them all.
Ecto is a T6 right? it shouldn’t be in a T5 recipe or salvage table in the first place, but my character likes the fact that they are so we’re at an impasse
Southsun Cove this month, by the end of the month or week you should be closing in on 80, just get yourself in a zerg and go to town on Instigators, karka swarms, and other events.
Some of them are not attackable, and the ones that are come back when they’re destroyed. You can still pick up the recording but there is no one to give it to.
Looks like an oversight to me since the tents are gone and the fires are out, the dungeon is inaccessible since you destroyed all the access points well.
In southsun cove there are 2 NPC’s in various locations that give you 200% buff to magic find and some buff to gold find.
Knowledge is account bound, but transferable between characters using the common method of communication.
There is no way possible to know what you do and do not know. Everything in an MMO has an abbreviation, most of them can be easily guessed by looking at the interface on the Hero screen (H).
If two abbreviations are the same for different things, the one on the hero screen uses camel case: eg. p/p/Cd – power/precision/condition damage, as opposed to telling someone your skill is on cd – cool down.
Events also have abbreviations or just use sections of the words in the event name. Locations have abbreviations. This is human language in a fast paced world, everything can and has an abbreviation. It used to be called shorthand – also stenography.
The Frozen Maw = Maw.
Shadow Behemoth = SB
Lions Arch = LA
dd = dual dagger or dagger dagger
s/sd = staff / scepter dagger
r/lb = rifle / longbow
and about a million others. You as a player need to familiarize yourself with the interface, realize what can and can’t be abbreviated by using the first letter of every word you see.
There are game specific ones like weapon abbreviations for your weapon set, skill abbreviations (though we can just ctrl or shift click them in chat), event names and locations, profession/class, and traits.
This will get you started, but it is up to you to learn how to learn online game lingo.

If you get the following email, do not click the link. I just received this today, thought I’d warn players.
Typing the link will get you a 404 page on guildwars2.com so no worries, it’s a hidden link that sends you to a phishing site.

I had to check several vendors but they all have either the broken . or a + on them. This is the first time I’ve ever seen it as well.
And it means nothing. It actually looks like a programming error to me during concatenation but I’m not sure what language they use. Looks like someone put a + inside of the quote marks when outputting the list items by accident.
User Interface elements have to either convey function or meaning and this does neither and causes confusion.
“What’s the + sign do?” “Does this mean it stacks?” “Can I add more things to this item?” “Is it an upgrade item?”
Since it is on every item, I am more convinced that it is an error or oversight.
Patch size is approximately196mb.
All of the doubloons are a leveled ‘jewel’ drop from chests (and other things) if you are of the appropriate level. You should get a doubloon from any chest that can give level 80 stuff or if the chest is at or above the level of the doubloon you’re looking for as long as you are at the level of the doubloon and before the next one.
The one in Wayfarer occasionally has a bunny just wandering around there that is green and you can pick it up. When you release it it has your guild tag on it. Part of the heart quest iirc tells you that if you release them, they’ll guide you to something good but it never does
I can find the dead drops in diessa but I can’t find them in wayfarer, I also can’t fix the refugee signs in wayfarer – bug reported that.
I’ve heard people that can’t find the snow-covered objects in wayfarer either.

Perception is an individual problem. No, it isn’t dying, it’s growing nice and steady like an MMO should. GW1 was dying for 8 years!
I’m not going to search for it but a dev said that IF it doesn’t start during its new window that you can kill those grawl/svanir in the cave and it should start. It has absolutely no affect what-so-ever if the window is still active and you kill them.
After the first couple of mushrooms, there is what looks to be a couple options for each successive jump but there is only 1 and it’s probably the longest jump out of the possibilities
Just like in the old school games, you jump from the very last pixel of the thing you’re standing on, it takes practice.
Know your environment as well. If you don’t make the jump, do you know what’s at the bottom? Plan your death fall accordingly and you might save your life!
It wasn’t until the 5th day that I tried it that I succeeded, just keep trying and you’ll get it.
So I’m trying to get this bauble bunch and I can’t find a way to get to it at all from any part of the zone.
Is this zone actually complete or is it just a preview?
I know there are no achievements for World 2 yet but I still want to know!
Never mind, I found it

Be sure that if your party members leave that you actually kick them from the party or leave it properly.
I had a group of 4 but only 3 were in the instance (and I didn’t realize the other member was still in the party thus counting for doors/chests).
What we did to counter that was at the doors we just moved real quick across 2 of the pedals and it opened. Should have kicked the other party member though lol.
Yes please! permanent vote here!
There are tons of fast respawning SAB chests in wayfarer’s foothills. You will spend a lot of coin getting around to them all if you decide to chain them though.
Art has and always will be in the eye of the beholder.
Take the following:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_%28Duchamp%29
Now personally I don’t think slapping my name on a toilet and calling it art qualifies but someone did and now it is.
Some of the most famous pieces are just someone tossing paint around, is that art? To me it is more of the expression of the process of creation of the piece than the finished product itself.
Then there’s the duplication method where you simply take someone else’ piece and copy & paste it until it fills up the canvas and call that art (campbells soup cans
anyone?).
Don’t forget the physical art you sometimes see at parks, or entire buildings themselves.
And then there’s the super subjective graffiti! which ones of those are art?
In the end, art isn’t something that can be defined, it is something that is perceived.
You don’t have to redownload the client, just run it from its new location. Copy and paste the entire gw2 folder to wherever you want it and just play from there. I have mine on a hard drive and a flash drive, both work just fine.
There was also a contest for guild emblems.
It used to be 25 minutes, I’ve heard it’s around an hour now but haven’t heard anything concrete on the time.
Anyone know so we can get the dragon timer updated?
That’s a pretty big desk.
Anyway, you want the lowest ms-milisecond times possible and the highest refresh rate (hz). Other than that you can pick and choose what other features you want and what brand you want.
(hz) comes in 60, 120, and 240 flavors.
(ms) comes in 8, 6, 4, 2 flavors.
If you want 3D (glasses type) you will need 120 or higher on the hz and less than 4 on the ms.
Her face is completely disproportionate not only with her eyes but to the rest of her body wow.
I would agree to get that changed to something normal seeing as how she’s like a main character.
I mean if she was the handicapped cousin of Rytlock then fine but this just looks like someone hit up all the max settings in a hurry.
Would need Elona expansion for roller beetles to be lore friendly. Unless we get some moa races. But yeah, some parts of Lion’s Arch would be great for racing ( I think there’s even a track somewhere for races ).
They would name it like this:
Fiery Berserker’s Krytan Warhammer of Bloodlust. GW1 used prefixes and suffixes for naming of things like this, GW2 does as well with ‘rampagers amazing daggers of whateverness’.
Two handed weapons are supposed to be more powerful but slower than single handed weapons that are less powerful and faster. They attempt to balance the dps and/or affects (condition damage/duration, direct damage, etc.) + trait affects.
But it would be nice to have this with two handed weapons or at least a buff to two handed sigils.
10(15?)% becomes 20(25?)% becomes 33% becomes 45% becomes 60(66?)% or whatever the equivalent increase from having 2 sigils of the same type is.
The chest isn’t part of the jumping puzzle (achievement at least). You should get the achievement before you get to the chest if you did it ‘right’. When you get to the part where all you have to do is run up to the chest, it should register the achievement for you.
Two Norn fishermen talking to each other:
N1 “As soon as I get home, my wife will want to talk about her day.”
N2 “We better get more bait.”
O.o it’s a belt now? I’ll have to go get that when I get my account back
The tribal skin drops from Grawl.
guild wars 1 was linked to ncsoft master account, gw1 and 2 use the same account information, I was just trying to be thorough.
Yeah but seeing as my support account was compromised somehow, I don’t even know if that’s a good idea anymore.
Just put my story up there as a reference as to what it’s like to get hacked and see it being used as you’re trying to log in.
My account just got hacked and it was definitely used to botting. I was able to change the account password and battle for log-in priority and finally got in when they changed characters or something.
When I would go to load into a zone, I would see it changing frequently during the loading process on my side, he must have had an ssd or ram drive, it was fast enough that it would go through 2 or 3 zone changes before it would finally tell me it couldn’t load it. I finally won the battle when he went from LA to another zone, finally loaded into a completely different zone.
He deleted my exotic weapons and trinkets, and wasted 400k+karma on some rare Invader weapons and trinkets, deleted my 20 slot inventory bags and went with the event bags (halloween, wintersday). I noticed on the character select screen that a couple of my characters were naked but not all of them. Thankfully he didn’t destroy my main – he was using a necro MM for farming, gaining about 120 levels since I logged off like 9 hours prior.
The messed up thing is that he used Anet’s own support system to get my password changed and used a serial code for a game that isn’t even registered on my account anywhere.
My system is clean as a whistle, I don’t give information out to anyone, I don’t have a compromised account from any of the sites that have been hacked, and I don’t fall for phishing emails.
Anyway when I got in game finally just outside of Lion’s Arch (probably took all the stuff in my bank) in Blood Tide Coast I notice a LOT of teleport bots just loading in and then jumping away and thinking “I was one of them! NOOO!!!”.
Lesson Learned: nothing is secure from Korean botters (unauthorized attempt that still went through…).
So I did all the support stuff, just waiting for it to go through but it’s night now so…
Anyway, changed my password everywhere but the ncsoft master account which I can no longer access – says it doesn’t even exist.
And I can access my gw2 account using both passwords (old and new), nice, the old one is being actively used right now.
Anyway, I can attempt to login and play but it’s a teleport bot that seems to be able to load into different areas very very quickly and so my load-in is too slow and I get disconnected so I can’t even force the bot to disconnect – your account is being accessed from a different machine type of message (that’s really comforting you know!).
Wasn’t a phishing or virus type thing and no other accounts of mine are compromised, just gw2. You guys really need to get on the ball with this security thing cause it doesn’t work.
This hacker used your own support system to take my account with a game serial code that isn’t even registered on my account about a half hour after I logged off!

I think it’s a bug to have a low level item like this (the blue version, not yellow, have never seen a green one) have a requires 80 level on it.
You get it all the time from the Frozen Maw chest – to the point where it looks like a 90+% drop rate.
no no no… You don’t just go around calling cooked wings by the animal you took them from!
Chicken Wings are Buffalo Wings.
Moa Wings would be Dolyak Wings.
I played it for the first time since they scaled it back from impossible and I have to say I was considerably disappointed in the ‘fight’. We all just stood around the center and pretty much just auto-attacked it since you can’t use ground-aoe (necro marks, etc.) on it. I think a couple of those fire elemental things showed up but it was over so fast it wouldn’t have mattered if they were there or not.
Well if the warning wasn’t exactly the same popup message you get from “are you sure you want to upgrade this item” message, maybe we wouldn’t have made this mistake.
I did the same thing. It would be wonderful if upgrading things wouldn’t soulbind things. That’s just stupid. If the item is soul/account bound it’s one thing but to soulbind something that isn’t just for an upgrade? that’s ridiculous.
As a crafter that likes to sometimes make things for others it means that I have to send them the item and the upgrade separately instead of just making the item whole for them.
Anet, thanks for reusing the same popup message for two completely different things… I upgrade items all the time, and I just click through it because it’s in my way, just like the salvaging one (YES I’M SURE!), but you don’t have a valid and distinct “THIS IS GOING TO SOULBIND THE ITEM TO YOU!!!!!!!” warning message. We don’t read the messages more than the first time we do an action (upgrading is the action we’re doing, not soulbinding), these should be different popups completely.
Idiot proofing is something you have to do in UI/UX design, you have a ways to go still.
It’s the Searing all over again, stupid Flame Legion!
The first one on the TP was 1500g iirc and they subsequently started moving lower and lower, in the first day we had like 20 of them posted – I still haven’t gotten one lol. They’re around 20g now.
You obviously didn’t see what those ‘innocent’ bunnies did to us in gw1 or you wouldn’t feel that way!

Spider cave skillpoint in Wayfarer Foothills. 3 veterans with high respawn rate. There is also usually a node in there and you can also get the ambient slayer in there with the rats.
