Usually, you need to scope out all of the random mini dungeon or jumping puzzle areas. It’s just the areas you haven’t seen, even if you have all of the points of interest and other such stuff.

Edit: I recommend looking at maps online that break up each map into areas and seeing which ones have the words missing on your map. The wiki has them I believe

What you like is a matter of taste so it will be hard for someone to say which is good looking and cheap. Check dulfy to see skins and then check prices.

http://dulfy.net/category/gw2/weapon-skins/

This is the opposite of what I want. I am very familiar with this page and it leads to only one thing. The way the page is organized, you end up seeing the pictures first. Then I get all excited about a skin. Then I click the link to spidy. Then I see it costs 250 ectos plus 250 blood and then I rage. I have been purposely trying to stay as far away from that site as possible for that reason.

I know this feel, bro.

Tribal short bow is nice… A nice cheap pistol is the ruinmaker…

You can stack the various bonuses together for 483%+ but you can basically get +250% without anything just by going off the beaten path. Things that have been alive for a while can up to +250% exploration bonus.

I honestly didn’t know that. Very good info, thanks.

Incentives for experienced players to help

Lilith Ajit.6173

I’d just like to point out, to those particular responses to my post that were…. Well, trolly, I’m not one of those players who refuses to jump on the bandwagon. I have my zerk gear, I very much love skips, and I try to benefit my team in every way I can. I like it when my teammates are at least on that level, but I’ve never been one to tell a person that I must see their gear, except for when I question their AR in higher levels of fractals.

The point of my post was not to come off as whiny, but frustrated. The only positive posts I see are the ones of speed clearing so and so or neat videos that really demonstrate an amazing knowledge of the mechanics of the game, which I might add, I am no where close to, skill wise. But any time a newbie or whatever asks questions there begins this tug of war between these power house players, who all say the same thing but honestly, I don’t think are all that helpful to newbies. I didn’t learn to dodge for a while. It took practice. I practiced in pvt gear. A newbie might need that, but I don’t think anyone on this forum really cares about that aspect….
That’s really my only point. When people message me in game questions about anything I’m glad to give my opinion. I just don’t see why there isn’t more civility in this sub forum. And no, I don’t agree with the zerk whining or the skipping QQers. I hate reading their posts too.

Every time I read nearly any post in this sub forum I get sad. There are 5-10 people who comment on nearly every post, saying the exact same thing. No suggestions are worthwhile, unless it caters to the epic 1337 players who are seen all over YouTube soloing and speed clearing.

Personally, I really do get it. When I accomplish something in life or in guild wars I like to rub it in peoples faces. I want people to see my accomplishments, and either feel jealous or what have you.

I just feel like this sub forum is not helping anyone out. Every post in here is derailed into either a conversation of how guild wars has a billion bad players or how stupidly easy the game is for x, y, and z reasons.

I saw a post early that said that it is unacceptable for someone to not have 8 level 80s… And, well, wow. Have we all really gotten to the point where if you aren’t this epic caliber of player that you are simply bad?

I don’t know. All I know is that I am not cut out to be apart of this dungeon community, despite loving dungeon running, and doing it 9 hours a day for 3 months this summer.

Really OP, I think the summation of the 4 pages of posts in this thread is this: no one wants help and no one wants to help. The dungeon community has failed, the best thing to do is to join a guild, never pug, and make sure that if you aren’t the best or perfect player, you understand that there might eventually be a screen shot of your toon on that player fails thread, because it is just that toxic.

Ato, I think the point he makes is valid, mainly because you may have 5 stacking berserker warriors swinging axes and great swords in a frenzy, there’s no way logically that the party members don’t get hit. The same applies for aoe damage while someone is meleeing.

Now again I don’t want to see this implemented, but in logic, it does sort of make sense, in a way….

Good luck Rhapsody! Luckily, since it is a game, there really is no reason to rush things. I hope you get the legend for less than it would cost to buy it outright though, from the forge or so. I really do recommend having friends throw in staves for you, especially if you seem to be cursed with the no precursor drop feeling… My friend did it for his girlfriend and got her dusk, way sooner than she would have, probably.

If you put in 4 of the same weapon, exotic or rare, it should come out as that weapon type. I had more luck with exotics getting my Legend (one try, lol) but not everyone is as lucky, and exotics can suck your gold faster than anything else. Rares, however, I’ve seen much less people have luck with. You should not get another weapon type though. I would try recording your attempts, not only to show anet if it happens but also to keep records of how many you put in.

And RJ, it isn’t like I got those staves in one day or even one week of playing. I saved them in my inventory/bank since Augustish, when I decided to go for Bifrost. I feel bad for those who seem to have a no-precursor-drop zone on their account, but I do know that my other friends were also trying for my precursor, so if you have friends who want to help you could always ask them to throw them in for you! Even if you still have to buy them.

My legendary journey [Story]

in Crafting

Posted by: Lilith Ajit.6173

Lilith Ajit.6173

I started playing GW2 at Launch. I fell in love with the game. Two days ago, I got my Bifrost, my first legendary, and I wanted to tell my story. This isn’t a complaint post, but a very happy one.

I main an Asura elementalist. She is my favorite character (I have 12 slots) and I have about 1300 hours on just her. I was a solo player, I leveled her on staff (good grief, right?!), and I still had fun doing it. It took me until December of 2012 to get her to 80. I joined a guild then, learned to dungeon run, and started, what I thought to be, the real fun of the game. In February of 2013 I threw in some rare staves, and got The Legend. I was still really “new” to the game, and I was told that Arah was only for Elite dungeon runners, so I thought, hey, I’ll never be able to make the Bifrost. So I sold it, and spent my gold on friends, cute armors, and my guild.

I later on decided that I would try to make The Dreamer, for my Norn ranger. I tried really hard to finish the gifts and forge The Lover, and had no luck. I graduated from college in May, and spent the 150$ worth of gems I had gotten as gifts on shortbows to try in the forge. I got no Lover. I was really depressed, and I stopped trying very hard. I made a pact with myself that I wouldn’t try again, and that eventually I would just buy The Lover, and that would be it.

I played for 9 hours a day for the entire summer (End of May until the end of August) before starting my career. I had nothing else better to do, and it was a fun place to be and a good way to make friends, so I was content. One of my best friends, in the beginning of August, had nearly finished her Twilight, so I gave her most of my t6 fine materials for her gift of fortune: I had nearly finished with most of them. I decided at that point that I really wanted a legendary for my elementalist. The Bifrost was gorgeous then and has since become even more vibrant, so I decided to attempt it. However, since I was ending my full time job as a Guild Wars 2 player and moving on to becoming a casual (darn it!), I figured it would be a really long time before getting it. So, I casually collected dyes and dusts, made the Gift of the Bifrost, and saw, to my dismay, The Legend’s price skyrocket to an unbelievable 800 gold. I, of course, regretted selling my original Legend. However, I thought, you know, eventually maybe I can craft it or buy it, and since I really wasn’t in a rush I let it go, and slowly worked on my gift of fortune.

This past Friday night, right before I left to go to the new Magic the Gathering prerelease, (woot!) I saw that I had collected in my inventory 3 exotic staves from random boss encounters, drops, etc., a level 78 berserker’s, a level 80 rampager’s and a Bramblethorne. I ran to the TP, bought a pearl staff (No, not on buy order! Haha), and ran over to the forge. I tossed them in, because why not, and out popped The Legend.

I was ecstatic. I couldn’t believe it. I pinged it in map, guild, and for some reason, no whisper pinging was working for me, so I just had to type it out. I got the typical “I hate you”’s and “Grats!” and I couldn’t believe it. I had to go then, to my prerelease.

The next day, my 2 best friends sent me some t6 materials, I bought tons, and I had only bloods, scales, and venom sacs left. I was getting so close! Mumble was all abuzz, and then I get an email from Squirrel, Kally boy, etc, etc, with every last material I needed.

I went to the forge, everyone on Mumble was hooting and hollering and demanding I ping every step of the way, and I got The Bifrost. My guild leader demanded that I equip it immediately, without pressing “O” to see how much it sells for. I equipped it that second, and ran around in my rainbow, pink goodness.

I’m still ecstatic. It’s still on my mind, and it might be exceptionally nerdy and stupid of me to be so excited about a fake item in a video game, but what it represents to me is the work I put into it, the best friends I met along the way, and the amazing time that this game has given me. Yesterday and today I have given exotic swords, t6 materials, and everything I have left to Squirrel for his Bolt, and congratulations to him, he got his Zap today!

Will I quit after this Legendary journey? Heck no! Meteorlogicus next!

Anyway, the entire point of this thread was to try to give those who are burnt out or burning out a little encouragement. It really is worth it. It’s tough, it’s frustrating and depressing, but the game is about community, so use your community to push through it. In real life, friends are the most valuable assets you have, and I really think that this is true for Guild Wars 2 as well.

This does work. I bought the whole set on my main and transmuted it to my level 2 thief. Obviously, a level 2 isn’t in the order, so it will work on any character. I think the only armor this doesn’t work is cultural, meaning you can’t transmute a t3 piece of asura armor and put it on a human, because it specifically says; requires asura race

Guardian

  • same as warrior

I’m not sure this is at all true. Even a little true. Guardian has aspects that are akin to warriors, melee damage/greatsword being a very good weapon. But Guardian has the ability to be a true support class, with its powerful healing tome (which iirc is important in high level fractals and other places…) and consecrations/meditations. Guardian is more “magey” than warrior, which makes it exceptionally different.

The rest of the stuff you said seems fair though, but I dislike mesmer. (Probably because my mesmer is a human and I only like Asura so I can’t get into playing it)

I main an ele, damage is sometimes a problem for me, but only because I don’t normally spec for it.

When I was leveling it, as it was my first class, it was difficult, fun, and rewarding. The attunement dance was actually really fun for me, and really taught me how to play a game, since gw2 was essentially my first (i had always played games ultra casually). Elementalist has so much potential, and is a great all round class. You can do PvE, WvW, and PvP, so you’re never going to run out of stuff to do.

This all being said, when I’m tired and not feeling like trying very hard I take out my guardian or warrior to mindlessly kill things and relax. With ele, I’m much more on my toes!

Remove PvP in WvW

in Suggestions

Posted by: Lilith Ajit.6173

Lilith Ajit.6173

The fact that the majority of you have STILL not figured out that this is a parody post, despite the OP clearly pasting the original post, makes me question the intelligence of the player population here.

Actually, the thing is that Esplen, trying to be funny, touched on a rather serious concept for a lot of the community, joking or not. People hate not being able to go into WvW and not be forced to run from gangs of bored PvPers looking for an easy mark (if they even get the chance to run).

Personally, my level of upset when I found out I pretty much HAD to PvP in order to get map completion was really high, as I had explored all of the rest of the game mostly alone, hoping to get map completion on my login page and wanting to have everything open for guild bounties and such. I got so close…

If there is a solution for the WvW issue, I would say this: bring back the concept of instanced areas. There is no way someone from one server is going to go into a WvW map controlled by another server nearly completely and do anything but die. This means all the strongholds and important points are basically off limits… you can’t even stand near certain places without getting mobbed. Do the people inside think one player is gonna raid a fort by themselves and win? xD

WvW is a place where people should, in whatever way, be allowed to explore as freely as they can in the regular map, while not being allowed to suddenly drop into a combat going on and disrupt things for the PvP crowd.

While I do understand where you’re coming from, this post is a near word for word parody post about removing the JP from WvW (thus sort of ruining the point).

When I was doing map completion, WvW was a real chore. I’m terribad at PvP. My server was bad at it. We never capped the places I needed and anytime I roamed I’d get insta-ganked.

I finally finished eventually, and I wore to never go back in. Then I transferred servers, and wow, what a difference. WvW is really fun now, I even sPvP/tPvP now. Sure, I’m not very good at it, but still.

When I was hating on WvW in the beginning I thought of ways that those PvEers and those who hate WvW could be able to get world mapping. My idea was that people not wishing to participate in the PvP aspect could sort of turn into mist, unable to fight, unable to capture, unable to be fought, and they could get their map that way. But then I thought, that really is unfair to those WvWers who would like to complete the PvE maps without, say, doing hearts (as an example).

Unfortunately, and I’m sorry because 2 months ago I really would have been on your side, WvW is a part of the game, and PvP is apart of WvW. Take PvP out of WvW and we’re just playing capture the flag with a bunch of people and we have no way of really capturing anything. So you might as well get rid of it.

Again, this is a parody post though. I don’t really think anyone thinks taking PvP out of WvW is actually a good idea.

Do you need to explore all areas for WC?

Areas count toward the title, Been there. Done that.
To get the medal by your name you need all hearts, pois, wps, skill points, and vistas, but not all areas.

Not quite. I only recently unlocked all the areas for some extra AP, but have had the title for ages.

Areas only count towards their respective explorer achievement.

I did not get the title until I completed Maguuma, Shiverpeak, Ascalon, etc explorer, despite having all of the other stuff completed and having the medal by my name.
Maybe that isn’t the case, but I know it was the case for me, because I had to seek all of these out (the ones I missed were mainly JP areas).

My first choice is always Tarnished Coast, but as that’s full.. I hear Jade Quarry is very nice! And Sanctum of Rall.

No really, if you delete all your characters you are prompted to change worlds.
With multiple 80s, that would never be worth it for me, but for people who don’t have any advanced toons, it isn’t a terrible option.

This is by far, one of the best things to happen to my gaming experience.
