No thats not how favors work a favor is me covring a colleges shift and not taking payment for it. Doing your jobb is not doing favors for people your jobb is directed to. I dont have to say thank you for paying you to do a jobb, if you did it for free that thank you is in order yes.

I bet people love you in the service industry… Look, I don’t even know where this become favor vs service. It’s one of Ohani’s enjoyments where he brings a topic around and around and around varying it each time. Essentially trolling this thread. It’s an endless loop which results in 100’s of pages stating the same thing over… and over… and over… I’m arguing against the point that was raised that a service is equal to exploiting because that is absolutely ridiculous. I represent the status quo. I represent moving Dev effort to other parts of the game such as Living Story, the next expansion, NEW CONTENT. I do not want more Dev attention on raiding despite the fact that I enjoy raiding thoroughly. If you are arguing for different difficulty modes in raids then you are essentially, inadvertently, arguing for less new content.

Because “service” and “favor” are not synonyms. A favor can be a service, but a service is not a favor unless it is FREE. If you charge someone to do it, it cannot be a favor.

I love calling people out on fallacies and poor arguements, CHECK THIS OUT:

Favor definition:

an act of kindness beyond what is due or usual.
“I’ve come to ask you a favor”
synonyms: service, good turn, good deed, kindness, act of kindness, courtesy
“will you do me a favor?”

Service definition:

the action of helping or doing work for someone.
“millions are involved in voluntary service”
synonyms: favor, kindness, good turn, helping hand; More

SOURCE: THE DICTIONARY

So, nothing else needs to be said on this, unless Ohoni and Linken, you’d like to claim you know more than a dictionary.

There is only a market for it because raids are harder than the accepted standard for this game. If raids were not harder than the accepted standard for the game (either the only raid or an easier version of the raid), then there would be no market for selling raid slots.

Interesting. Do you have a link? I could not find any official difficulty standard list.

Don’t bother looking for reason or sources in this thread of toxicity. Everything that needed to be said was said on page one or two. Not 22… or the other thread with 17+ pages… or the other 50 pages of threads on this topic with the same people commenting. A mod really needs to lock these.

And neither of those statments say you should get paid for it, voluntary service, good kind, helping hand its not something you get paid for again.

If I buy a cup of coffie I pay for it no need to thank the person for doing their jobb, if they see oh its so little left might aswell give this guy the last as refill before a brew another I say thank you since its an favor or as dictonary says act of kindness beyond what is due or usual.

Edit read the boldend part of Ohonis post again it clearly says a service can be a favor if its free.

I don’t play this map in higher lvls so this is what works for me in unexperienced parties.
1. I tell them not to attack till I buff them, to take ranged wep and some pets.
2. When party has might stacks, I run to boss screaming so others would follow me.
3. We dps like crazy.
4. Those that are blind or don’t listen to cute asura npc telling them to move their butt die to the first falling platforms.
5. Time to range and kill others by running to them when beam is on me.
6. Spawn earth elemental when eveyryone is dead and/or things get steamy.
7. Enjoy the scenery while elemental is tanking, throw in some autos.
8. Boss dead and everyone in party is planning to make elem their next char.

ps: added a bit of flavour but that’s how generally unexp fights go in thaumanova. save your pet till you are either the only one alive or when boss is low. Pet makes the fight easy.

I do the same but I dont need a puny earth elemental i go regen/shout warrior.

You’re deliberately breaking the analogy to show that it is broken. Congratulations on completely missing the point.

No I’m not, but congratulations on completely missing the point.

The point is, people can only currently sell raids because there is a market for it.

Yes, exactly like how services which aid people can sell their services because there is a market for it. A mechanic can assist someone with services on their car further reiterating my point.

There is only a market for it because raids are harder than the accepted standard for this game. If raids were not harder than the accepted standard for the game (either the only raid or an easier version of the raid), then there would be no market for selling raid slots.

Economics 101

People who sell raid slots are exploiting a situation that does not have to exist, and are actively fighting to prevent that imbalance from being solved. That is wrong, end of story.

People who sell raids are offering a service to those who refuse to raid. The people agreeing to pay money to have this service are well aware of what they are doing. They don’t need your protection buddy. This is wrong. End of story. I can’t fix my own transmission. Does that mean if I get a mechanic to do it he is exploiting me?

Because “service” and “favor” are not synonyms. A favor can be a service, but a service is not a favor unless it is FREE. If you charge someone to do it, it cannot be a favor.

I disagree. You pay a mechanic to fix your car. He’s doing you a favor. You order a pizza. That delivery driver is doing you a favor. You need your roof fixed. You pay a team which is doing you a favor. You seem to be a part of society that assumes they automatically deserve services. This is obvious. Do you know what the definition of insanity is? It’s probably boarder-lining this topic. Want to know the best part? Overall I am right, as nothing is going to be done to raids no matter how many hundreds of hours you spend here compared to my 30-40 hours spent raiding. Insanity…. Just promise you say “thank you” after receiving services and not “I can’t thank you because you owe me this and services mean you aren’t doing my any favors buddy.”

No thats not how favors work a favor is me covring a colleges shift and not taking payment for it.
Doing your jobb is not doing favors for people your jobb is directed to.
I dont have to say thank you for paying you to do a jobb, if you did it for free that thank you is in order yes.

Here’s a good analogy:

A company promises to produce some digital content, you pay for that digital content and then the company fails to deliver it. Said company loses the faith of its customers and sells their next scam poorly, leading to layoffs at the company, starting with the fool who tried to scam their players out of content they paid for.

Colin has already left.

And your sure Colin the middle man was responsible?

It was from the AMA I think.
But I’ll +1 him, I’ve read the same information as well, that LS3 will help distribute ascended trinket with the new stats.

EDIT: It’s easier to search AMA result from dulfy =p
http://dulfy.net/2016/03/05/gw2-developer-ama-on-reddit/

This part:
My question is this: Are you planning on making ascended gear available to everyone WITHOUT having to do raids? For example, getting ascended viper jewelry. I thought a core idea for GW2 was to make all gear available to all players in the game style they prefer (fractals, WvW, open world, raids, SPvP)? I can understand having exclusive rewards for raids, but feel those should be cosmetic like exclusive skins and mini’s — not equipment.

Living World Season 3 should open some avenues for non-raiders to gear up with ascended equipment. This should also allow non-raiders to get the gear/stat combinations that are currently only available in the raids, like jewelry with the new HoT combinations.

Ah Thank you for the link. That was the thing I was the most uncomfortable with…new combinaison gear / stat locked behind raids.

Yes thanks for the link its good that one of the two issues are being worked on.

IIRC, it takes majority to vote for the whole party to leave. Which is funny, as I am wondering why they would want to leave at the boss fight anyway.

Most likely it’s the usual problem with people not reading what they click.

Edit:

Maybe it’s lag on my side but the last 2 incidents ended up with party porting to lab when there was 1 no, 1 yes voted.

If it really works that way, then it’s dumb. Though i’m quite sure that at least at some point in history the popup waited till everyone made a decision, and there was no timeout.

yea if it was only 1 who voted yes and noone who voted no then it might kick you out to start since its 100% of the votes.

As I have over 5 million karma, I’d rather just ditch the clicking myself …

I think they patched out the Karma boost exploit a long time ago.

They did nothing boost the karma jugs, sips etc

Karma boosters are not supposed to boost Karma from hugs etc.

I get where you are coming from, but I think it’s fine as is, the current raid rewards are rather subpar, the only real reward to look forward to is the armor itself and the vipers trinkets.

Then obviously the solution would be to make raid rewards not-subpar at the same time legendary armor and viper trinkets are made non-exclusive. Not to insist on that exclusivity (because, let’s be honest, as it is, once you’ll get your set, the generic rewards will still be subpar, and there would no longer be anything else to go for).

They’ve already stated in living world 3 vipers trinkets are going to be a thing you can pick if you don’t want to raid for them, this leaves just legendary armor, I’m all for replacing it with something else though, provided it’s actually a good and useful reward that’s not just another skin or mini.

The problem is that it’s just a vicious cycle because even then you’ll have people complaining about whatever it’s replaced with.

Can you give a link were they stated that was rewarded for living story s3 please.

I actually don’t even care about legendary armor, i’m just a strong believer in working for rewards. This generation has to be the laziest generation to yet exist. I’m part of it and I see it time and time again.

Then we don’t have any conflict. You want people to work for rewards, I want people to work for rewards,m and we can both agree that because this is a game, not a job, the players should enjoy the journey, so they should be able to do that work in content that they enjoy.

Actually, non raiders in this topic ARE demanding this legendary pré, in an easy / infantile way to cater their lazyness.

No, that’s just the slander people have accused us of. What we’re actually looking for is certainly an easier method than the current one, but not “infantile,” it would require just as much skill as the standard gameplay in the rest of the game, and not at all “lazy,” because it would actually involve MORE effort than the existing raids, due to more repetitions. It’s like the difference between lifting one 100lb. barbell once, verses lifting one 50lb. barbell three times. The latter person did more work, put in more effort, it was just at a more achievable level for him.

The problem with your proposal as I see it though is that the players are guaranteed legendary insights after x length of time. Raiders aren’t always guaranteed a kill unless they run with the same 10 people every week which isn’t always do able even for guilds.

They are also locked out at 6 per week maximum so whatever your proposal is, would also have to be locked at the same cap or less, if they earn the insights faster it will devalue raiding to a certain extent.

You’ve said a variety of things here that i’m going to fundamentally disagree with and vice versa, it’s clear we probably aren’t going to agree much on this topic. I get where you are coming from, but I think it’s fine as is, the current raid rewards are rather subpar, the only real reward to look forward to is the armor itself and the vipers trinkets.

The skins….while cool are just skins, by now almost everyone has ascended weapons so it really is kind of meaningless. Mini’s don’t really do anything at all….

Then clearly you should champion this cause aswell since when you cant raid with your normal group you can go the easy mode that week, to still progress.

I guess Anet never finished EoTM or the personal wardrobe, or Living Story Season 2. Anet has finished many things, and they’ve abandoned others, pretty much like every MMO I’ve ever played.

In fact, in MMOs most things aren’t really supposed to be finished. They’re always moving on.

I mean Guild Halls are finished, but they’re going to add more Guild Halls I’m sure.

Guild Halls aren’t finished, several people reported they’ve done all the upgrades and are stuck in the 60s. Unless there is another way to level.

wouldent say wardrobe is finished either since we still dont have all the spvp skins able to be unlocked.

Are they currently? No. Would they be if milk could be created completely for free, but they are fighting to suppress that technology so that they can continue to sell milk for a profit? Yes. That’s the issue here.

Milk is created for free, the process of creating milk costs money. Raiding is free. The process of being carried through a raid costs money. Money is a man-made concept. Look. You can rip out and replace the carpet in your house, or you can pay someone to come and do it for you. They aren’t taking advantage of you. You are paying them for a service. It is the same thing here. To someone who has thousands of gold in the inventory, what you are claiming is a complete joke. Your argument is literally based off an opinion that is based off perspective.

AreNooo. . . offering people a slot for FREE is doing a favor. Offering to accept payment for the slot is providing a transactional service. Offering to accept payment for something, and fighting to maintain the status quo that makes that service valuable is exploitative.

Again, a matter of perspective and by far not a valid point. The literal definition of service, again, is the action of helping or doing work for someone. If you do not consider this a favor, I do not know what to tell you. The moral of the story here is this is how it is, and no matter how much you discuss it with opinions and speculation, nothing is going to change. We are all clueless. Say what you want and move on. This out-of-context quoting and attempts to negate opposers with speculation and opinions is becoming toxic. We’re looking at over 45 pages of forum space consisting of probably less than 50 users.

If noone was demanding the new legendary items / viper trinkets to be locked behind raid we wouldent have the discussion.

I really don’t think anyone is mate. Raiders simply do not want to see what they have worked for handed out for free, and this really isn’t an issue at all tbh.

The main issue is the fact that players do not want to see more focus on raids. Rather, the majority of the community desires new content. I am almost certain there will be other avenues for receiving different sets of legendary armor in the future. This is simply the test run.

Sure, the portion of community that raids is tiny when compared to the portion of community that doesn’t raid, but this isn’t what we are comparing here. We are comparing the portion of the players who do not raid and do not wish to raid yet they want to experience the raid to the rest of the community that desires new content. I am fairly certain from recent activity from the forums over the past few months, that the player-base would much rather have new content than raid modes, and that this number is probably even smaller than the number of raiders.

Yes becouse anet will ofcourse do more then one legendary armor set since raiders want thier exclusive skin i would think.
Then they have to make another and when they cant even complete the second set of legendary weapons.
The devs have stated in the ama that armor is harder to do then weapons.

No mate we wont see it coming from anything else unless anet changes it stand now and implement the same pre and collection in other parts of the game.

I find it fun that wvw and spvp is what people are ok with it being in.
Spvp that can be farmed brain dead on custom maps is somehow the same effort as raids, same with wvw you can go cap with stuff 1-3 people and earn it.

Consdering some of the living story season 2 acheivements it would be the same to put it in living story season 3 aswell then.

Added: Especially, when you say you would be satisfied with just a Special Skin, and you are Getting Ascended Gear with Special Skin.. to then demand that you also get Legendary. Come on.. You don’t think that makes you look greedy?

Wait? Who is demanding? How can you even speculate if legendary armor will be permanently limited to a raiding collection? What’s even the point in arguing on this topic when no one has any idea except Anet? Is some sort of elitist raider holding Anet hostage and making demands? I think I feel behind in this “discussion.” Are we greedy… if we raid? Are Anet’s devs sifting through the 50+ pages of “easy-mode raids” paying close attention to the 15 or so who are conversing?

People who offer to sell raid slots aren’t doing favors, they are exploiting people’s weakness, while fighting to maintain the system in which that exploitation has a place. There is NO justifying it from a moral standpoint.

What??? This is like saying the grocery store is exploiting people’s weakness for selling milk…. People who offer to sell raid slots are doing favors for people who are willing to pay for them. They’re literally not hurting anyone. Are services defined as exploiting the weak?

Edit: Nope it appears to be defined as: “the action of helping or doing work for someone.”

Most of the raiders seem to not want legendary armor pre to drop anywere else then in said raid becouse it somehow devalue how they think they got it.

If noone was demanding the new legendary items / viper trinkets to be locked behind raid we wouldent have the discussion.

Okay these 25% and 33% are just unreaslistic. Maybe, Anet didn’t give us 15% of what we paid for. On the other hand they also gave us stuff they said they wouldn’t.

They said they wouldn’t give us gliding on core tyria and they did. You might say that doesn’t make up for Fractal Leaderboards. It sure does from where I’m sitting.

There’s a whole lot of hyperbole with people randomly applying percentages. They didn’t give us 75% of the legendary weapons and they’ve yet to give us the full WvW overhaul, however, the WvW overhaul is coming… we’ll be testing part of it in April.

The final raid wing is on schedule to be delivered, and that was always the plan.

I wish people would stop exaggerating the percentage of what we got, because saying we got half an expansion is demonstrably wrong.

Vayne 3 out of 9 is 33% we got 9 classes.
That was a comment I made since we will only get 4 out of 16 25% of legendary weapons.
Its good if you actualy read whats stated before trying to shoot it down.

Yes and they have been talking about both the wvw overhaul and legendary weapons for months so why should we be happy that they give us one over the other?

We have 3 new legendary weapons. It’s not no and we also get one additional. So in other words, about 25% of the Legendary weapons we got.

I don’t know how many people were opposed to the presence of raids, but I think you’re vastly underestimating the number of people who quit over the years of a lack of challenging endgame content, combined with the number of long-suffering fans who stuck with the game until it finally came out.

I don’t think raids exactly fit with some of the core principles of the game, largely because of the longer prep times, waiting for people, and more need for certain roles. But they were also asked for by a good portion of the playerbase, and will probably keep those people around at least a while longer. Even though I don’t have any interest in them, or really care whether they exist or not, I think it’s still an overall good thing to add.

I certainly don’t know anyone that quit or got angry that they did add raids. They didn’t add them in a way that has an impact on the rest of the game, like putting in improved/raid gear. I don’t see anything there to be bothered about.

Except they did atleast when legendary armor is released.

Linken.6345

And it was as wrong then as it is now, Absurdo. I am/was an avid fractal runner and always thought how stupid it is to put the ascended backpiece into it. A content either can stand on its own feet by being accessible and fun without getting a subvention in the form of reward or it is destined to fail. Although I am not that much supportive of easy raids, there was definitely an easy mode in Fractals, you cold grind lvl10 fractals until you got enough fractal coinage and essence of the mist stuff to buy your way in.

And for the question of why I want it, I want it because the feature is nice and I don´t care for rune swapping. I could live without it of course, but when Anet offers me a forum to vent my protest, why should I not use it?

Fair enough that you can offer your opinion.

As others have said, rewards can drive content. And almost every game mode has exclusive rewards tied to it, not just fractals. I also find it a bit hypocritical to simultaneously argue that “content should stand on its own without rewards” and “I want to access the same reward through X content.” While it may be possible to reconcile these two views, they are in tension with each other.

Some content has easy modes (fractals, SAB) but most don’t (Arah, queens gauntlet). I think that’s ok, as long as there is content at a variety of skill levels. Which there is.

If you are only going after legendaries for the stat change, and don’t care about runes, then you could buy 1000 sets of exotic armor for the same price.

Yes but the problem then would be his/her bag space.

The real question is why you want a reward that provides no increase in stats and is just a fancy skin. Exclusive rewards is nothing new in Guild wars 2.

Counter Question: Would you be fine, if the Raid gave you an Armor Skin, as opposed to Legendary Armor?

hmm, it’s a theoritical question, since raid reward legendary armor. But, for me, the answer at your therotical question is yes.

so, now, in practice, since raids reward legendary armor, i dont want it to be rewarded in a way that will remove all the effort put in learning raids, just to please some lazy people that want all for no effort.

I agree with this answer.

Well I guess since its ok.
We should ask anet to take out the legendary part of that skin and just put them on uniqe ascended items in there.
Then put legendary armor pre somewere else living story sesaon 3 maybe.

Attitude about dungeons is irrational

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Linken.6345

Linken.6345

Illconceived Was Na, Anet deliberately gutted dungeon rewards to drive people into fractals and raids, they literally stated this outright. I know you know that.

If all they wanted was to reduce the amount of gold people were getting, they could have increased the number of dungeon tokens, boosted the drop rate of all those obscure recipes, and so forth. But they didn’t care about that, they just didn’t want people doing dungeons. And they succeeded wonderfully, the dungeon LFG is basically a wasteland.

If Gold was the only reason people were doing dungeons, then dungeons really were not worth supporting as content in the first place.

Gold was the only reason because the content never got any attention from devs after around month 6 or so. They explicitly stated they were trying to drive players away from dungeons instead of putting resources into supporting them, which is asinine.

Yes exactly … It’s not asinine. It makes perfect sense. If people are ONLY doing content for gold, then that’s not quality content to begin with. Anet recognized that and dealt with the problem properly since they decided they weren’t going fix dungeons to be worth doing beyond being a gold faucet.

How does it make sense for a game to give people less content to play and less reasons to log in? I’m confused as to why you think it’s a good idea to reduce playtime.

It doesn’t, but those aren’t the reasons they nerfed dungeons so I don’t see the relevance.

You say it makes perfect sense to get rid of dungeons. No more dungeons = reduced playtime.

No more dungeons doesn’t not result in reduced playtime unless you don’t substitute for other content. Anet does not tell you what content you will do; you decide that.

There’s no alternative though. Fractal dailies are shorter than they were pre-HoT, dungeons not worth doing and raids on a weekly cooldown.

You can see how their attitude towards dungeons and instanced content in general is quite weird, no? It’s like they no longer wanted people to play instanced content on a daily basis.

Those might not be alternatives to you. I don’t see their attitude as weird at all. In fact, I think it goes directly to how they approach GW2 as an atypical MMO. There are LOTS of things in this game that Anet purposefully did to avoid the standard approaches to providing an MMO. I think dungeons is just another one of those. Albeit, it wasn’t successful, but when you try new things in the market, sometimes the market doesn’t like them. It happens.

Really? Purposefully destroying a dungeon community, taking away the stuff they were enjoying before the expac makes sense to you?

If you’re going to be sensational, I think there is little value in having a discussion with you. I said it makes sense for Anet to nerf dungeon rewards if the only purpose that people were using dungeons for was to farm gold. Please listen.

Not being sensational man, I’ve been in speedrun guilds, dungeon communities. What little is left are raiding, loads quit fairly shortly after HoT, and 90% of my friendslist afks in DR pretty much all day long.

It comes back to a larger issue in the game atm. There’s very little replayability, even if you are into open world. That’s why it doesn’t make sense to me they wanted to reduce replayable content even more by making fractals a 30min daily and getting rid of dungeons entirely. There’s no upside.

Welcome to MMO’s I guess? I don’t find lack of replay limited to GW2. In fact, I think Anet does a pretty good job keeping replay fresh; there are lots of examples of it. Sure, its not in dungeons, but GW2 is more than just dungeons.

I’ve yet to see another MMO that actively promotes not playing its content, but sure. xD

There is some comprehension issues here. Please don’t take my posts out of context. My point was that GW2 isn’t different from any other MMO in regards to content having low replay value; it’s the nature of the beast. I was NOT talking about other developers who actively promote not playing it’s content; In fact, I don’t think there is a single one that does. That would be rather stupid and I don’t see Anet doing that either. That’s clearly just you biased interpretation, giving that you think making sensational statements is a substitute for good feedback and discussion.

You say there is a larger issue of replay; that’s not really an issue special to GW2; it’s a general one with MMO’s because of the limitations of having static worlds, gear, quests, etc… There are strategies developers take to address that and Anet certain does use some. Just because they don’t do specific on dungeons does not indicate there is a replay issue with GW2. It simply means you’re not participating in the other forms of content Anet is using to keep the game fresh for players. That’s not Anet’s issue you think the game has no replay. Dungeons have no replay … they never did. yet that didn’t stop people doing them repeatedly … until the gold was nerfed.

Hence, that’s why I think Anet nerfed the gold reward. Not because they didn’t want people to play dungeons but because they didn’t want dungeons to be a gold faucet. Believe whatever you will but being silly isn’t going to make dungeons come back or even raise any flags at Anet. They have heard it before. If they got plans, something will be in the works. If not, better exercise your options as a consumer.

Yes I agree with that … Anet does not want people doing dungeons because it was unsupported content that was being done primarily to farm gold. They turn that faucet off so people stop would doing them. It makes sense because they weren’t supporting the dungeon content any longer anyways. I don’t understand what point people are trying to make by continually referring to this.

What people seem to be taking issue with is that I claim Dungeons were not good enough to stand by themselves as valuable content without the rewards they used to have. I think that’s pretty obviously true because if I’m wrong, people would still be doing them at a similar frequency now as they did before the nerf. This is why I disagree with the OP … I don’t see Anet’s behaviour to dungeons as irrational at all. They don’t want people doing them, so it’s perfectly sensible to nerf the hell out of them.

You mean how they now put legendary armor in raids so people will run them and move the same gold rewards to fractals so people run those?

What happen to the content should good enough stand by themselfs?

I play guard since like 2 years almost exclusively. Up until HoT guard was a class that was taken to almost all high-end content, especially in pugs. Yes, guard was almost constantly nerfed since like release, but the utility combined with decent dps always made him viable.

Then HoT hit and it seemed like a big: Let’s screw guard big time.

Why?

- Blocks are pretty much useless in raids.
- Reflection is pretty much useless in raids.

Already at this point the class is kinda destroyed, but it goes on:

- As a tank you do nothing but tanking, there is 0 reason to take guard as a tank over op chrono.
- As a dps guard doesn’t offer much. Hammer-DPS isn’t the highest and that’s pretty much it.
(- Heal-guard was always bad.)

Now, we all know that guard can do one thing that isn’t really needed: DPS/“Support”. “Support” basically just means perma protection, which isn’t at all mandatory and most of the time just more dps is better than perma protection from a guard. Yeah, you also got CC, but that’s nothing special.

In addition to that, we don’t got a good range option (scepter 2 cheese doesn’t work most of the time and is hence useless) and the burst from greatsword is useless because raid fights take long (especially with a guard, the irony).

Then, if you add up the nerfs of the past (lowest health pool, no substantial damage creep with HoT) and guard’s natural weakness (low mobility, no constant healing signet), you end up with something that you could describe as useless.

This situation is now frequent since 6 months. Since HoT, chrono outshines guard for tanking, all classes in dps (and druid/ele in healing).

TL;DR: You made guard’s core strengths (blocks + reflection) useless and did not give anything great as a replacement. No, not-so-great damage from dh isn’t a replacement at all.

Solution:

- Rework of block (everything dodgable should be blockable, create good damage when allies’ blocks activate as a trait).
- Health pool back to max.
- Reintroduce reflection for all projectiles (it was really really lazy to just disable it in order to balance out oneshots, really really lazy). Change it to absorption with much lesser cd and higher uptime + range if you still can’t program reflection properly (which is really really sad).
- buff to scepter (dps)
- buff to sword (dps)
(- buff to healing scaling)
- buff to greatsword autohit dps (a really good buff would make guard again viable as a dps alone)

I expect a big buff for guards on 19th. If that doesn’t happen I will probably just abandon this game. So much bad stuff happened in the past and I intentionally delayed raiding to a point when my main class would be viable. 6 months is already too long and I won’t wait 7 months.

Yes its such a bad class it can be only that class and still down valeguardian

rush it all u can, theres no guarantee it wont be broken next year…

why would it be broken?

New systems get implemented or old ones get reworked, the same reason its been gone for two years previously

Considering how well loved it is (I don’t get that, but hey, not all of us enjoy the same thing) you’d think that they’d make sure that it worked with whatever coding that they do, in other words, have someone test it with any new systems.

And thats what they will do before implementing it april each year from now on.

I’m gonna toss my coin in saying it won’t.

It already did.

“Raid in MMOs are high-end content designed for the more hardcore player. However, from an analytics standpoint, the participation is higher than other games we’ve seen. This is likely due to the nature of our progression system in GW2.”

From their AMA on reddit.

Well. There is no easy answer for this, it kinda depends on the bags. 2 general statements:
-It should be more beneficial to open at lvl 80, or at least it will not loose you a lot.
Sometimes you get better materials on low level, but exotics and other valuable ‘gear-loot’ mostly drop at higher levels.
-It doesnt matter. At all. If you are not running tequatl over and over I cant think of any loot bag that will heavily impact your overall gold gain.
Just play the game and open your stuff, even if you miss out on a gold or two, i strongly doubt you will ever regret it. If you have inventory space amass you can of course always decide to keep it.
Again: it hardly matters.

The champ bag specific exotics will still drop when opened by a lower level character.

precursors wont tho

Maybe we should do the same 1 reward track for each legendary armor precursor and be done with it.

To get a weapon you need to complete 3 tiers in a reward track, to get one armour piece you need to complete the full reward track. If you can’t do raids or the dungeon then it’s safe to assume you can’t be that good at pvp to complete a full track or even the first 3 faster then you could by simply paying a few gold to Arah sellers. You also get a small return on your investment from the dungeon reward and it counting towards your dungeon title. Think a little.

never heard of the spvp farm maps I see.

Edit
U also get raw tokens and other things in the reward tracks so more return of time investment

Already done. To get titles you need to do somewhat hard achievements as a group. To get armor you need to poke boss to death and complete some open world events.

So then there is no problem in getting armor in a easier mode you still got your titles to show you did it the hard way.

Actually the side of this discussion asking for something to be taken away from someone is the side arguing for easier access to legendary armor.

Hardcore/Raiders have (or will when it is released) an armor set that has some degree of prestige by acting as a trophy proving one’s ability to complete the raid in its normal mode.

By asking that the raid armor be made available to those not completing the raid in its normal mode people are asking that the trophy aspect of raid armor be taken away from raiders.

Currently the raiders are not asking that anything be taken away from others.

And the same prestige could be achieved with titles instead not locking away gear with new functionality.

Yes but you can do open world with any gear any class any traits, Raids not so much

What’s your point? All I’m saying is that changing from a skill gated reward system to a time gated reward system will devalue the rewards in the eyes of the current raiders.

You have people on 2 ends of the spectrum. To have a somewhat actual discussion about this you have got to acknowledge this fact. I’m not against other ways to get legendary armor, I’m not even necessarily against an easy mode for raids, but straight up denying that it’s true won’t get you anywhere.

The options aren’t necessarily please one group or the other. There are options in between, but it will require a reward rebalance for “hardmode” because just timegated with the already fairly lackluster rewards won’t cut it.

Or of course you could keep bickering back and forth about who gets to play with the toy and demonize raiders as “elitist kittens” if that makes you feel any better.

my point is no matter how bad you are you can get your legendary weapon by investing time with legendary armor you cant.
So your quip that legendary weapon was gated behind open world pve is moot that was my point

Exclusivity matters in the real world because of limited resources. Things that are rare are, by definition, more valuable because of it. However, GW2 is not real life. The only limits on any given good in game are the limits developers place on them. What you are arguing is to prevent a large portion of the playerbase from being able to obtain items just so you can feel special about having them. This is wrong, and it’s proof that, as the “Run AC with no armor and a white weapon” comment has demonstrated on this forum- and I believe this thread- that a number of raiders don’t really care about hard content. They just want a way to put everyone else below themselves. What you are saying here is that it’s not good enough that YOU have something, you have to take it away from others to feel happy about it.

I’m not taking away anything from anyone. What you guys are arguing is the same as saying, “why can’t I get the legendary pvp backpiece in hotjoin?” or “why can’t I get the fractal backpiece by only doing levels below 10?” It would take me more time to get it but I’m entitled to this reward even though I don’t like pvp/fractals at all.

In fact it’s worse than that. What you’re asking is to devote the resources currently allocated to make that content to go to something entirely different. “Please stop making updates to ranked” or “don’t bother fixing high lvl fractals”, devote your resources only to what I like to play.

In fact, while we’re at it, you guys do realise the new legendary weapons are exclusive to open world content, right? I can’t get it without getting suicidal tendencies from DS.

That’s only what you think. Because you like raids.

No. Completing more difficult content will always be more impressive- and more difficult- then slogging through easy content for a couple weeks longer.
I don’t find them impressive at all, and don’t think that a fact that you like a certain gamemode and i don’t makes that gamemode better or any more deserving of rewards.

Were you reading Ohoni’s post, or their strawman representation by other posters? Because it seems the latter.

Not when I’m making a reasonable estimate, which is the only thing ANY of us are capable of from outside the company. Someone with a name like “Fermi” should know that.

Except it’s impossible to make a “reasonable estimate” when you have a grand total of 0 information to base it on.

Ah, but we have considerably more than zero informations. We, for example, know that one wing takes around 4 months to make, and most of that is creating assets. Yes, those assets that the easy mode would not need to create. Most of the remaining work wouldn’t need to be created from scratch either.

Sure, it wouldn’t take hours, like Ohoni claims, but saying that it would take many months is an even more ridiculous claim.

Except, based on the information we have, they’re both completely equally valid.

*

Its good then that they dont have to recreate the raids its fine tuning only.

And you know that… how? Oh that’s right, you don’t.*

hey haven’t “gotten back” to you because you’ve never actually asked them anything, and they have never told you they would check that up. Unlike it happened with Ohoni.

Ohoni isn’t some special snowflake, they’re not going to just go ahead and “get back” to him; read the quote above. Gaile never even promised any information. All she said is that she’d look into it and, if they had information that they don’t mind giving out, they’d do so.

And the difference between your and Ohoni’s claims is that, while both are ridiculous estimates, yours is not only more ridiculous, but you actually know it.

They’re equally ridiculous, seeing how they both have the same amount of information to back them up.

Anyways, on the whole “raids are toxic thing”, my experience has been the exact opposite. I’ve had maybe one person with a toxic/bossy/what have you attitude in a pug raid thus far and he got kicked. Most people just want to get onto TS or w/e, get the boss done, and have a decent time

But we do know thats all it takes if they implement it as we have asked, the same raid the same encounters the same skills from bosses.
Just less punishing, uping the enrage timer to 2 hours simply fine tuning, making the attacks do less damage more fine tuning.

What would you change? What is valuable loot in your opinion? Do you want exotics and ascended chests for killing veterans? Or for what activities exactly do you want improved loot?
Be more or less specific

This is where you made mistake. No one wants ascended items for killing veteran mobs, but veteran, champion or legendary mob, gives you same loot.1 green item and 1 blue item, sometimes only 1 of those.

I spent last 9 months in SW.Opened over 50.000 SW bags of all kind, never got single item worth over 3 gold.Magic find is myth and illusion to keep people occupied,so they can rely on high mf% .

Since bags you get in HoT maps are affected by mf,i put that to the test.My account with 530% magic find, opened 3.000 HoT bags.Got nothing.

Opened 3.000 HoT bags on friend’s account,30% magic find, got same loot, which is nothing besides green and blue items.

You do know that magic find dont work on champion bags right?

He didn’t say Champ bags, he said bags of all kinds. The Silverwastes bags, probably not. There is the map magic find, Perseverance, that is for bandit chests but maybe not for the bags inside the chest. The other, HoT bags are affected by magic find.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magic_Find
Magic Find is both an account bonus and a character attribute that increases the chance to receive higher-quality loot from slain foes. With a couple exceptions, it does not affect containers (including champion loot bags), chests, or any other source of loot. The exceptions are:
Containers received from structured PvP reward tracks.
Divine Lucky Envelopes during Lunar New Year
Heart of Thorns meta event participation containers.

Edit: grammar

S/He clearly stated he opened SW bags of all kinds and none of them are affected by mf.

Do you think Raids in GW2 were a bad idea?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Linken.6345

Linken.6345

The Question is Was it a good idea to Link that Item to that Content

I think it is, at least for now in order to measure the impact of releasing these new items. Ascended were totally gated at the beginning but with time they gave opportunities to get some in many different ways.
For now they chose to give through raid to 1/Evaluate their ability to design raid that people like (I mean the one that are asking for challenging content for more than 2 years) and 2/See if many materials or other things won’t lose too much value because of this.
Maybe for the next expansion there will be a new set of legendary armor released through story achievement, adventures and map meta completion. Those who hate PvE meta will then don’t do it because they don’t find it fun.
But for now it is locked by raid completion and I am sure it attracts people to do raid while they wouldn’t have tried it without the reward.

It also has the potential to alienate a substantial part of the player base, which could cause irreparable harm to their long standing customers.

For me, it’s not personal. The few times I did the raid because I was invited by my friends and guild mates, the armor and other baubles hold no attraction to me directly, might be because I am old school, and everything is about stats first, look second. The fact that my main toons have full ascended means I will never have to worry about a gear upgrade ever again, so the raid was, cute but pointless to me. But, I can see from the posts on this topic that I am apparently in the minority. Like Torolan said something profound when he said no one really cares about how pretty your gear is beyond you and maybe your close friends. While it might attract a passing comment, few really care that you have it, their interest is purely for it’s look on their own toon and less will even remember who you were when you part ways.

But, there are a lot of people who are very vested in the look of their toon. I guess that is the nature of a game like GW2. I believe the joke is “Fashion Wars 2”

So, will Anet pull in a good bank roll for their decision to make Legendary Armor Skins exclusive to the Raid.

Time will tell, but, I am betting not.

This argument makes no sense. Exclusive skins are part of every game mode, and they do not seem to alienate the player base. And we don’t even know what the skin looks like yet.

We wouldent mind if it was only skins but you get an entierly new functionality with said skins since they are skinned onto legendary armor, give people the same item for some other content then but delink the raid excluseive skin.

No a full refund aint being demanded thats the only option, if a partial refund is in order for content not released that it would have to be paid in 100% of the accounts in question thats what some people have said about it.

Cesmode how much AP do you have? Waht level Fractal are you on? What is your PVP rank and your WVW rank? also how many Legendaries do you already own? If all of those things are high then i can understand your complaint for not grinding or playing for more than 20 min at a time. But if u only have 4k AP no fractals and so forth then please dont say them cancelling new legendaries is holting your character progression. When in fact it is just yourself that is the issue.

I am not Cesmode but to answer your question I have 22,599, am rank 76 PvP, idk probably like 400 WvW but WvW has been broken since launch and all of the blatant imbalance and game mode issues with it went ignored for that long so w/e, I have 7 legendaries one of which is HOPE and that is a choice because the other ones of the old set I don’t like and was looking forward to the new ones, I’m at level 80 personal level for Fractals (despite having the AR to do up to 100) since I basically realized all of the new instabilities are just boring ways of making the fight tedious and not actually more fun and that there is no motivation to do anything but swamp. If LS3 is even remotely similar to LS2 then it will amount to like 10 hours of content, and if that is true then I spent more hours working on just HOPE than I will ever spend on LS3.

Man making hope in only 20 mins thats impressive, I would think that would have been impossible since you need to complete all 4 maps of hot.

So the compensation for the customers who bought the expansion and got the expac feature canceled, would essentially be the sustainable CORE content which everyone gets for free.

LWS3 will be gated behind HoT, and that content coming faster means more of it… that is certainly a form of compensation to those in HoT. For me, it wouldn’t matter if it is Core instead of HoT; ymmv.

Nope, to me that still counts as marketing and vague info. They’re telling you their intent… but nothing concrete… “set of 16” isn’t enough for me; those are just words for their intended finished product. Show me some concept art, and some lore, and some video of characters wielding them and showing off effects, and then there starts to be something substantive to base a purchasing decision on. I’ll believe the product exists when the code is done.

With these two quotes side to side how can you say that LWS3 will be more since they pump it out faster.

They havent even said how many episodes we will get witch we all know are marketing lies anyway.

They havent shown you any art or lore or video of a character running through it.

And likewise since the compensation hasn’t been delivered, I don’t accept it’s happened yet. It’s been offered, but it hasn’t been delivered…. so yeah, it’s all still hypothetical at this point.

Time will tell if that does wind up being the remuneration that we’re given… or something else… or nothing at all.

Yea and if its only 2 episodes we cant techincaly say they werent suposed to release only 1 so you can say see more
