Directly from ArenaNet, it’ll likely never happen. They may drop the price by $10-20, but once season 3 is over, they could easily bundle it and raise the price back to $50.

From other retailers however, HoT was on sale for around $22 on Amazon (FR) a little over a week ago. Other retailers commonly have it on sale for around 20-30%.

$50 for two expansions should be OK for me.

I will add it on my wish list on amazon in case it comes on sale again as you mentioned.

As others have stated dont forget that you will have to buy or find someone with all the living world season 3 releases to be able to see that story arc/ get items hidden behind the achievements if you buy aswell

How do I get an easy 1000g to craft a full ascended set by just playing the game and not grinding?

FYI, you don’t need much gold to make ascended. Just enough to buy Thermocatalytic Reagent from vendors to craft various ascended mats, otherwise most ascended gear can be crafted for nothing. Learn to salvage every drop and build up your mats in the bank. Sell unwanted stuff. Get out there and start mining. Don’t be lazy looking for the easy route and buying everything from the TP. That’s the exact reason why prices are so high (demand > supply). It took me a couple months to fully acquire my Celestial ascended gear and it cost me next to no gold to make.

Thats not how people like the OP sees it, you lost alot of gold not selling all your materials on the trading post.
So in their mind you did craft it for crap ton of gold bud

This game isn’t made for casual players anymore (i had to grind Hero points for 2 and a half week, to have my 7 elites… I don’t think that the average joe, who logs in just to chill out at the end of the day, will go thru all these hours of grind, and waiting).

I remember back when one had to grind 2.5 weeks killing the same mobs over and over just to gain a level. Now, getting expansion progression to unlock all new build options for seven characters in 2.5 weeks is grind. Times sure have changed.

1) Dungeon. They nerfed them for a reason. Either they don’t put any gold reward for raid and don’t buff gold reward from fractal, they add gold sink or they nerfed the gold reward from dungeon. They had no other option if they want to keep inflation in check and as a player you don’t want inflation to go crazy, that would be the worst possible outcome for us. That said, they could gave reward back in other form like material, token, rares, etc. In the end, people are kitten for now and occupied by the expansion. I tried dungeon again the other day and with a decent party you go WAY faster through them than we used to. The reward is still very good. People will calm down, finish their expansion and then people will want to get back into dungeon for the reward.

2) Raid are not for you that’s ok. Other people love it. I had so much fun wiping and learning the encounter.

3) The patch for fractal is either gonna be tomorrow or on december 15th. I never though that it could be on december 1st.

Conclusions : Dungeon are still there and they still have good reward. Anet didn’t do a great job on how they implemented the nerf. Fractal is a mess and they kittened it up for sure. But they acknowledged their mistake so let’s wait 1-2 weeks to see the patch and judge then. Raid are perfect for the target audience they are meant for. Some polishing for squad and LFG and the rest is only time as people get better at it. Leave it 1-2 months and we’ll see then what’s the situation with raids.

Average joe don’t grind for 7 different character dude. Average joe will probably have 1-2 character with near map completion and only need 1-2 hero challenge as they explore the new maps to unlock their elite.

2/ Lol raids aren’t for me? It’s one of the new content of this 45€ expension and it’s not for me? It’s not smart to put something that 100% of player paid for, but only 5-10% can succeed in…

1/ no… You can still win a lot of gold doing the meta events, and they are going to add liquid gold to fractals. Which means that instead of cossing to gain gold in dungeons, we are forced to go to fractals to gain gold in party content.

Conclusion: stop thinking that the game is made for the elite 5% of the commuity. I don’t have 6 hours a day (1 of them just waiting for a party to be organized) to spend on a portion of a video game. I have a life, studies, homework. And i am not the only one who feels that, so it is possible that angry casual users just leave GW2, go to another game, and as a result gw2 would suffer the same fate as 90% of MMO’s = death
Because, no users => No money => no game.
For my part i’ve seen a lot of friends leaving the game since the expension and almost left it many times.

You are forced to do fractals the same way you were forced to do silverwaste farm before dungeon nerf.

Silverwaste was always better over all gain in wealth then dungeons did everyone do it hell no.

the exotics that drop from champ bags do drop for low levels aswell, I get them when i open on my lvl 29 to get low level materials.

Have not got a ascended drop yet tho so unsure if they drop.

Yes salvage all the items you get and sell the materials on trading post you will get over 1 gold for any path.

Hot is the same story for everyone, some of them give you choices but you can run story twice to see both of them

if your not the same race you will have to do personal story steps twice.
good part now is that it starts every 10 levels so you can do them after eachother.

Actually the people who designed those dungeons left the company, so technically #2 is wrong.

I’m not thanking the people that did them, but the company that hired them.
If a company loses a team responsible for one of its products, it’s their responsibility to find replacements, not throw it into a corner and pretend it never happened.

yea but to give a new guy 10k gold s/he have to spend 20 weeks getting said gold from your mails.

If you have 10k gold put it into a guild bank give that guild to a friend then leave and not return I dont think they would have a problem with it.

If said friend give you cash irl who is to know that you and that friend neither of you would tell anet about it so no chance of getting banned.

If you dont know said guy irl as other have stated how do you know this guy havent had 10-20 accounts and sent out alot of gold through those before?

It was targeted at people like me. yet a lot of people like me cannot do it because of the difficulty of finding teams, and thereby the difficulty of the raid.

What basis do you have to say that raids aren’t hard enough?
And again, the same response to the last point…

If you think the content should be beatable within two weeks and especially by pugs, then no, the content is not targeted to you.

1) The raid should not be pugable as that was the intended difficulty as stated by Anet.

2) The content is pugable as it stands now, so it is too easy.

Then you lead the whole discussion down the route of how you define ‘pugs’, as some experienced players can form loosely in a LFG and complete it – this does not make it a strict pug experience and therefore the difficulty is not too easy.

The fact remains that I have seen multiple groups of very experienced players, who know the boss mechanics very well and still can struggle a lot. Difficulty aimed too high by artificial numbers and unrepresentative tests?

Then those very experienced players are wearing sub optimal gear.

Masteries are an abomination… they can only really be attained through grinding out meta events and they net the player absolutely nothing other than the ability to traverse an already small, soon to be dead zone easier.

So after grinding and farming really boring content for the past 2 months, I finally got my 4th warrior alt looking exactly the way I’ve envisioned him. I wanna show him off of course. Best place to do that? Dungeons. There’s fighting action where I can show off my knowledge of how to play the game right, and there’s also a few standing around parts where my fellow party members can check out my cool gear. I cannot believe this hasn’t got more of an outcry? Aren’t you guys angry? I mean, dungeons were one of the best parts of the game. Plus you kinda need them for Legendary or Spirit Shard weapon forging. (And please dont suggest PvP because that is ridiculously time gated).

Less time gated then dungeons and there was an outcry people just have cried enough and dont bother to keep doing it.

You can still do it for 33s instead of the 1 gold if you want but most people dont want to since the 77s extra was the only reason they seem to have stomaked dungeons.

Since the base material can be crafted by all those 3 professions you get that in the tooltip.

you get a higher chance yes. but if your 0.01% chance to get a rare max luck will give you 0.04.

So as long as we dont know x we dont know how good bettwen 0 and 300% really is.

ofcourse it will wait around 1-1½ years and you will get it for cheap or even better wait for next expansion and it will be bundled so 2 expansions for 1 deal.

I cant however say if you will be able to play the meta events by then however since the bulk of the veterans will be bored of that content and eager to jump into next expansion

yea dont you have 1k base toughness and are you in a 80 area so it shows max toughness and not down leveled one?

For one I wasent being sarcastic you asked how people got thier gold and thats how I got mine, if you have that little time to play then its for you the gem to gold was made for.
You work so much so you can inject some cash to gain the gold you need to craft ascended weapon, now if you dont want to do that then it will take you awhile to gain enough to be able to craft that weapon by your own admission.

Its your choice really, alot of games dont even give you this option.

If this happens alot then maybe you are the problem OP.
Are you setting up all zerker for the lfg and aint zerker yourself, just to get a easy ride.
I would kick you then to since you misslead the other group members into thinking your the same stat aswell and that run will go fast.

You may not see it, but it’s rather obvious that other people do want to do exactly that. Just as before HoT people wanted to run other stats that Berserker.
Anet tried to make content-limited stat sets before, and it has never been met by a poitive reaction. Why would they want to repeat that again, and lock it behind content that is already generating a lot of negative responses in the community, i have no idea.

Anet’s gone whole hog against their initial, “Play as you want” philosophy. It’s really pretty sad.

The thing is Viper is way less effective in almost any situation outside of raid at a much higher price, why would anyone want that. Also if you really want to there are exotic version of them, although can not think of any reason anyone would want to use them outside of raid what so ever. It’s like buying a medium fries but wanting to pay large fries price.

Yes but if people want to be full ascended to start to raid why cant they get their viper and crusader ahead of time, why lock it so they have to do the raid to be able to have the stats they want?
