Do you think Raids in GW2 were a bad idea?

you won’t have it because you refuse to adapt and put some effort in raid, that’s all. And since it’s Anet decision, i guess they were thinking that legendary armors were a proper reward for challenging pve content, aka raid, and that people who mastered raid would deserve legendary armor. How is it unfair? we play the same game after all. The difference is that some people don’t mind putting effort in raiding, with countless wipes, changing stuff, buying expensive foods etc, while others want to do nothing and have the reward. Who do you think deserve the reward? the lazy one or the worker? I have the answer for you, if you want…

Here you really lost me.
GW2 is a game. Not a exercise, not a job, not a sports club. A game. I said it when the fractal backpiece was introduced for Fractals only, I said it when the backpiece for PvP was announced, I said it for legendary armor:
Gating content behind game modes is plain and simple wrong and bad for the game. It breeds exactly the discussions we are having here right now.

I know that many people think that people are looking up with envy and want on your efforts, but I stand on the firm believe that nobody remembers the name of your toon after he has passed them in Lions arch with your Eternal title and your grinded Astralaria. So the number of people that maybe care for that is in your closest group, aka your raiding team and your guild, and a few people that write you PMs about how that looks on you.

Regarding the question who deserves content X more, I would be with you if this was one of the activities I mentioned above, aka work, sport, exercise. I believe that first and foremost effort and dedication by playing the game should be rewarded in a game, not skill or reflexes and effort for builds which is a non-game activity anyway in my mind. Skills and reflexes should net you more, but a less skilled person should not be forced to go out emptyhanded off anything.

tl:dr Gating is wrong, and nobody cares if you have the Eternal title or Astralaria.

Great post better then I could have said it mate.

Ok after much discussion left and right me + Obtena.7952 came to a conlcusion since legendary weapons are suspended indefinatly so should legendary armor.

And some of the raiders se them as glorified purple skins anyway so they dont really need them.

Anet make it so and release lw s3 and 4 instead.

Man I should be rewarded with PvP legendary backpiece + legendary armor doing what I enjoy which is easy mode AFK-ing in DR since this game is marketed on play how you want. I just want to be able to work hard for and earn my legendary stuff by AFK-ing in DR rather than have to deal with the filthy elitist raiders. While you’re at it, I also want all the SAB skins too, for free, by AFK-ing in DR because that’s only fair.

/s

Sure go for it man since you will only be afking in DR you wont have any use for them anyway. Ofcourse getting them the easy way they will be locked to account your ok with that right?

There’s also a big difference between locking out a skin, and a whole gear tier.

So, not a great example.

It’s actually a perfectly fine example as legendary armor aside from stat swapping which is a moot point anyway is nothing more than a glorfied skin. It being purple doesn’t change the fact that the stats are the exact same as ascended.

Anet listen to this guy just put in som random asended armor into the raid as reward and add legendary armor as drop anywere its just a purple glorified skin with same stats anyway-

You know, as someone who bought GW2 upon initial release, who played for a while, then was absent, I was very upset to find out today that the Heart of Thorns expansion is $50! Especially since it’s the same price for someone who already bought the original GW2 as it is for someone who’s never owned it before!

I was considering it, but now not sure. How about being reasonable and offering HoT at a discount for those who already own the core game?

-=Lon=-

Well you can buy from other sites but then if you dont like it jump through hoops to get refund.

Or could have got the extra char slot for prepurchase long ago, the only other option is wait for next expansion and get both for 50 or what ever bucks that one cost.

Ty to all those who took the time to answer my question. Now that’s out the way, this

thread reminds me of another thread from another game…….Oh yea that’s right WoW…I

remember the casuals fighting the hardcores before the big subscription drop and then

this game offered a way out….LET’S SEE IF HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF O.O

You mean the expansion nicknamed World of Garrisoncraft? The one where the main endgame was either raid, sit in your Garrison and send out fake ships and crews for rewards or finish up the previous expansion’s content? I don’t think the comparison fits. There was a big drop in subscription numbers, but it was more due to turning an MMO into a Facebook game where max levels sat isolated in their Garrison doing their chores than an argument between casuals and elites.

No…I’m talking way before that when people complained about WoW content being

too easy and most of that community cried for more challenging content. Their wish

was granted and only 23% of those players could finish raid bosses. Due to noticable

nerfs and difficulty created by the devs, the community chastised them and qq’ed to the

point in which a dev snapped on the community and quit the game, thus leading to loss

of players and at that time this game was a way out for them…..places were ghost towns

and the only ppl playing that game at the time were the few that could actually beat the

content and even they had their “inner circle”. The only way to enjoy raiding was to be

friends with someone of that circle or have the best gear in the game…and that was not

a guarantee to remain in the group. What I speak of is the cause, what you speak of is

the effect and they had to make things easier to the point where that game was "World

of Garrison Craft" as you titled it. On a side note, I would like to thank all the players

who do take the time to run “practice” raids for the ppl who need to learn the fights.

Not saying this game is following those footsteps but some similarities are happening

atm.

Don’t let history repeat itself :/

And what we have with raids now are any diffrent how?
have to be this and that have to link prof of kill have to link gear have to link the currency bosses drop or your out.

Yes, and she still hasn’t gotten back to us with more accurate data, so my original estimate still stands.

We went over this, your estimate is 100% meaningless. Keep trotting it around like it means something though, it’s kind of funny.

I think it would take them 2 years to implement your easier raids. It takes them a long time to create content, so it would take them a long time to recreate the raids.

Gaile hasn’t said anything to the contrary, so this estimate stands.

Its good then that they dont have to recreate the raids its fine tuning only.

Which brings us to the original issue: Customers paid, ANET didn’t provide.

OK, which brings me back to the same statement I made before; Anet attempted to deliver that content in good faith. there isn’t some conspiracy to steal from people or cheat them. Anet sincerely wanted to get that content to people; they realize they can’t do it. This is just a reality of their current business situation. There was never a plan to cancel Legendary development 6 months after HoT.

There isn’t any right or wrong here. If it wasn’t Leg. Weapons, it would be something else. Anet expect people to be angry; hence this thread. I mean, the whole POINT of this thread is to allow players to make the decisions and take the options they have available to them for playing the game or not. People paint Anet as villians and cowards when in fact, this thread was a very up front and responsible approach for them as a company to treat us as customers.

But having done 19 before expansion launched, shouldent that have some how indicated to them if they would be able to ship the other 16?

You don’t work at Anet, so whatever you’re facts are, I doubt they have the proper context to frame them properly. What I know is, you don’t understand that Legendary development is causing the content drought that you think Legendary weapons are necessary to fill. You’re just grasping at any straw at this point to justify keeping Legendary development; even the ones that go against your position.

Well at least what i’m saying is based on actual facts.
What you are saying are ideas and theories based literally only on their latest action.
You disprove any other fact (even those that came directly from ANET) and keep talking.

Telling others they are wrong when they provided facts, while trying to convince everyone else that you are right based on your fabricated theory.. I mean…
And then you go and say that I’m the one grasping the straw.

I’m not sure how you came to the conclusion that Legendary development fills the content drought … do you work at Anet? Do you know how many man hours it takes to implement other aspects of the game compared to Legendaries? I get you have some facts, you just don’t have any context to make conclusions from them that tells you those devs on that content is the best way to alleviate content drought.

Yes it do it fill the content drought for high grind pve players same as armor do for high end raiders.

Your local store advertises buy one get one free cans of green beans, you go there and they’re out of green beans, they give you a substitute of corn (or a rain-check for a future visit, or whatever). Substitutes happen frequently enough.

And that rain check is the very monetary compensation I was talking about. The rain check is offered because the consumer cannot be expected to accept another product. In fact, advertising a product that you intend on substituting with another product is called “bait and switch”, and is usually illegal. Not that I’m claiming ’"bait and switch" applies to Anet in this case, though there are some similarities.

And the store determines what that compensation is… if they choose to make it a rain check, then so be it… but they don’t always. Heck, in this example the rain check can be equated to “indefinitely suspended.” You can get the green beans when they’re back in the store, but no eta on when that is.

There might be some similarities, but it’s not bait-and-switch if the company intended to make good from the outset… as I’ve said earlier, they can prove they made that effort (to me it’s evident). Intent plays a role in this, and their intent was to provide that content; not dupe their customer base. Kitten just sometimes happens, even to those with the best of plans and intentions.

Villainizing ANet for this decision may help some people to justify their rage/anger/hatred over the decision… but it also keeps those same people from seeing other parts of the picture and come to a reasoned decision about what they wish to do in response. Us vs Them anger helps no one.

~EW

Well Anet better give me the next expansion then becouse i intend to pay them but im not going to becouse that particular part of my funds are “indefinitely suspended”

I was talking about general content drought. You can’t complain about the content drought until you have a single unfinished Achievement.

That’s a matter of opinion. Again, it’s unreasonable for Anet to simply deliver ANY kind of content, no matter how costly it is just because of ‘content drought’.

As a matter of fact, I suspect those devs they took off Legendary development are being put onto content that will deal with whatever lack of it you think exists to get it to us faster.

So the content drought argument for keeping Legendary development … is nonsense. The legendary development cancellation is to address content drought, it doesn’t cause it. You haven’t seen a new legendary since release until now, and it’s just one …. THAT’S content drought. Legendary development CAUSES content drought; having handfuls of devs making content you see a small fraction of every 6 months. That’s just ridiculous and Anet made the right decision to stop it.

Well lets go one step further lets cancel legendary armor aswell since that is even harder to make then 12 weapons, as others have stated its 18 pieces totaly then then have to be made to fit 10 dif race/genders.

I know I know, hot sensitive topic…

Since indefinitely suspension means we never get it, because given reason: devs need more people to develop other stuff… What I ask for is 1 guy from probably computer art design team.

He makes a contest, that is a blogpost anouncement that they take submits of legendary weapons, gives his email, we send our work to him…
Reasons: we know Tyria probably better than most devs do,
we can create an interesting journey because we know where mobs spawn what event are in Tyria.
We are already familiar with legendary journey and how much raw gold and materials it should require based on 3 HOT legies.
Gw2 community has made insane impressive art and fan based stuff during the years which devs keep showing at podcasts and streams.
We can do full requirements with collections and estimated gold costs time req etc… maybe even make icons…

Similar like how bloggers and youtubers do best elite spec contests, we can do same for legendaries just for Anet. After lets say the art design guy has 100 submits of different legies he presents the one he likes to the board. Then the best lets say 3 legendaries get made.
Resourses needed for that are very limited: only to take lets say BOLT collection change it around take our art replace the art of Bolt and BAM new legie(maybe not that simple but still…).

And what the community winners of that contest get? Well ofc the legendary they designed. Win Win Win… Sorry for English, I am not native.

What the winner get is not the legendary itself but mention in the lore of said weapon and flavor text of weapon, that is priceless.

Right … making a mistake, recognizing a bad business decision and stopping low-value development now equates to immaturity.

The bad business decision was taking people’s money and then deciding not to give them what they paid for. Whether or not it’s immature is irrelevant; it most certainly is unethical.

Do you not agree? Will you give them money in the future, knowing that you might not get what you paid for?

I don’t see how it’s unethical at all and I don’t agree. Anet intended to deliver that content and even attempted to do so in good faith. It’s just not working out for them.

Will you give them money in the future, knowing, as you do, that if whatever you’ve paid for ‘just isn’t working out for them’ to deliver, not only will you not get whatever it is, but they will also keep your money?

I will because I understand what my money pays for, how much entertainment value I get from it and think the game is worth supporting. I don’t ‘act out’ and demand a full refund if a single feature is only partially delivered because I’m just not that selfish.

Even if I was due a refund, it would only be reasonable for it to be the part of the expansion that pertained to the partially delivered feature, not the whole thing, since I have been satisfied with other aspects AND got entertainment value from it. I just don’t have the audacity to eat a whole buffet and ask for a refund because they didn’t deliver chocolate ice cream that day.

So people are ok to get a partial refund now so how much is that 10-15-20-25-30-35 bucks?
considering the legendarys provided longer lasting content then the other features it should be around 50% refund imo, I still have only got 2 precursors since I refuse to buy of the tp I want to find and craft my legendarys myself. ( and thats 2 of the old ones in 3 years. )

Yes, we want two different things – two opposite things: You want a casual mode for raids and I want less complicated raids that require more focused roles via builds to prevent wipes.

This game kind of bores and frustrates me because I am used to belonging to a few statics where skill, knowledge, trust, and utter dependency on other roles forges teamwork. Nearly all PvE runs counter to that.

Raids need to push roles even further for my liking. If a raid needs lots pets, for example, it should demand Engineers, Elementalists, Guardians, Necromancers, and other roles to keep them alive (Ranger), do max damage, buff the pets, hold aggro to position the boss, hide pet owners, etc.

Ps
This game does not train players in PvE or even WvW for advanced team strategy and tactics like other games. Most of GW2 is very casual so there is very little team play tutorial content to teach tactical and role skills.

No not really you want only the raid we have now.
Ohoni wants that aswell but with an extra mode so more can enjoy said content and work towards same rewards at a slower pace.

So in Ohonis case you dont lose what you have now at all. ( Well you might if all of the people decided that no its not worth it to gain x2-x10 the rewards depending on how much lower the cap on easy mode is )

But if that happens then they dident do raids now for the enjoyment anyway just to have kitten and lord over those who cant/wont.

There’s a lot of hate towards raids in this thread. I want to share my personal experience.

Raids (and currently, SAB) are the only things bringing me back to guild wars 2. I would not play anymore if map metas or fractals were the only things to do in pve.

I like the combat in Guild wars 2. I like dodging. I like moving and attacking at the same time. I like not having to worry about 4 rows of spells.

Raids epitomize that kind of combat.

I understand that some people don’t like raids, for some reason or another. I just ask that you don’t destroy them. That’s why people like me comment on these threads. If raids disappeared (or if they stopped making them) I would quit guild wars 2.

And for what it’s worth, I’ve never seen the kind of elitism lambasted in this thread. Just yesterday, I formed a matthias pug group: “LFM MATT, exp, play 2+ classes.” We beat it after 45 minutes. And for several members it was their first kill.

So please don’t destroy raids. I understand if you don’t like them. Luckily, 95% of guild wars is not raids. You still have fractals, dungeons, map metas, world bosses, pvp, and wvw to enjoy.

Explain how the raids are destroyed if they are exactly the same but there is a mode that take away/extend enrange timer, lessen the punishment of mechanics and people earn currency 6-10 times less then normal so if cap for normal is 100 easy mode 10-60 a week.

You still get your shineys and they can even add special titles to the normal raid, we dont care about that.
We want to experience the content and get the rewards over a longer period of time, becouse some arent young whippersnappers anymore

Be more or less specific

This is where you made mistake. No one wants ascended items for killing veteran mobs, but veteran, champion or legendary mob, gives you same loot.1 green item and 1 blue item, sometimes only 1 of those.

I spent last 9 months in SW.Opened over 50.000 SW bags of all kind, never got single item worth over 3 gold.Magic find is myth and illusion to keep people occupied,so they can rely on high mf% .

Since bags you get in HoT maps are affected by mf,i put that to the test.My account with 530% magic find, opened 3.000 HoT bags.Got nothing.

Opened 3.000 HoT bags on friend’s account,30% magic find, got same loot, which is nothing besides green and blue items.

You do know that magic find dont work on champion bags right?

Loot doesn’t need to remain valuable forever! they can be replaced with newer equally valuable items after they lose their value!
The important thing is to let PvE players feel the exhilaration from finding a VALUABLE item!

With an ever expanding valuable loot pinnjata.

I mean, do all the years and hours you’ve enjoyed the game up until that theoretical point account for nothing?

Some emotional attachment one might have for the account VS some kind of financial return on your investment?

If it’s purely a money thing, something or nothing is still an easy choice to make and were I to feel so strongly about the issue as some seem too, it makes a point to the company.

How long something has been owned and someone feeling that they had “gotten their money’s worth out of it” don’t really matter. It is paid for, owned, and should not have to be given up. Especially not when the item at issue is only a smaller, separately sold, portion of that whole.

The problem isn’t with the customer not wanting to make some self-damaging noble sacrifice to prove a point to the company, it’s with the company failing to offer a reasonable option for compensation.

I don’t find any of this particularly noble.

It certainly isn’t self-damaging to the vast majority of people who have been with the game pre-HoT and invested hundreds or thousands of hours into the game.

$50 well spent.

If one is so very bitter and hung up over the recent decision to put a hold on new legendary weapons for the sake of the game as a whole, you can ultimately end your customer relationship with Anet and pocket the $$$ spent on HoT.

I don’t feel that way myself. I’m willing to see where this goes. Bitter and empty the words of some of the more excitable lot here, most of them are not going to get a refund.

They’re going to wait and see what happens. I think that’s the best course. You don’t have to agree with me to be counted with me in that regard.

So if you buy a new car same brand as the car you had prevoiusly for 10 years.
But when the car comes you only get engine tiers and the seats the rest are on the way.
Then 6 months later Im sorry we werent able to make the frame, you can install the other parts into the car you got now.

That’s not really an issue with raiding. It’s a design choice. I raid because I like the challenge and the team play, I don’t give 2 cents about legendary armor.

But so long as raiding is the only way to get them, it is a raiding issue to everyone else. And while you may not have a problem with them being included in other content, plenty of raiders have argued against that, especially to alternate PvE sources.

Hmm, on the contrary, I remember some raiders agreeing to have legendary armors out of the raids (as long as it’s not in easy mode raids)

And for me that would be a good compromise. Unfortunately at the moment the chances of Anet making easy mode raids (or just nerfing the current ones) are much higher than them making those alternate options. They’ve just dissolved their legendary team after all.

The easy mode raids with leg armor is at the moment the option that requires least work from the devs while still leaving current raids intact. The only easier option would be to just nerf the current content, but that obviously would leave raiders unhappy.

I’m sorry, but you don’t have this information. You just hope the chance are higher, because that’s what you want, but actually, easy mode raid were never spoken by Anet, so…and btw, Gaile said in another topic that no one should estimate the dev work needed to implement something. No one except à dev can have this information.

So extending/removing enrage timers, tweaking damage on attacks.

Is the same work as doing totaly new content from scratch, what are you smoking I want it

Oh wait do you think easy mode raid mean totaly new raids?

Edit
And its not like the dungeons team that was disbanded and gone this team is still there and can implement this easier mode.

A better thing to lock is the skin and give another version in easy mode raid.
Why demand they do totaly new content and on top of that said skin for other legendary armor. ( if they can make a dif skin and tweak raids to make it into the game for less development time) + more of their playerbase get to play said raids.
If the intent is to get it implemented, then what these other raiders ask for is not on the table.

Make them accessible to all races through a skill unlock on the hero panel, with the limitation that you can’t mix and match across races. So, for example, if you are using Asuran racial skills, you can’t also use Sylvari. Opening them up to all races means that ANet can bring them up to the level of real skills. Not flavor.

How would this be an improvement? My suggestion was to make the races matter, be different, unique. NO sharing of racial-skills. A human cannot use a Charr skill. An Asuran cannot use a Sylvari skill. To me a player character should be restricted to race/racial faction (for humans one Avatar-human racial skills set only)/profession.

But the dont want race to matter hence why they are worse the profession skills

Yes and when people ask for easy mode raiding (also a bad design choice not to implement btw)
what get thrown back is but you cant have my shiney skins no matter if it take you 4 times or 6 times as long to get them.

If everyone were like you the two modes could coexist without a problem.

And why do people ask for this you may ask becouse its easier to implement since its only tweaking difficulty not making everything from scratch, that then provide the same kind of rewards.

As a player ,I play games for mechanics. If I want to enjoy a good story I’ll read a book or watch a movie. As a “mechanics” player I enjoy gearing my character to the teeth, learning the ins and outs of its play style, synergies and I love perfecting my playing. I constantly look for builds, discuss with other people and try to improve. I like practicing rotations, so I can be as efficient as possible. Raids fit me perfectly. I familiarized myself with what my profession was supposed to do, what gear I should be using (metabattle is a wonderful resource) found a guild and jumped into raiding.

And I loved it. My former raiding experience, (albeit a lot of it) was mainly from WoW and Rift. Both games are ultimately the same in that regard. So the fresh new take on raiding from gw2 captivated me. I like how they handled “tanking” and “healing” ,I like that you cannot do gimmicky stuff to skip or ignore mechanics (like dungeons) and most of all I like that the weight of the encounter feels like it’s equally placed between all players.

I don’t know whether you play on EU or NA but both regions have a ton of guilds that teach raids and offer teaching runs. I myself recently joined a raiding hub (non rep guild full of players that want to raid) and there’s a raid group every day doing some boss. Do some search on reddit and google, you’re bound to find something.

The thing that’s REALLY important to fix in your mind here, is that while you enjoy something, that doesn’t make it the “right” way to play the game, it doesn’t make other players “wrong” for not enjoying it how you do.

the problem with raiding is not a difficulty finding “teaching runs,” it’s a complete disinterest in engaging in “teaching runs.” It’s about wanting to not NEED a “teaching run.” How you felt about Ascended grinding, other players feel about “teaching raids,” they just want a challenge level where they can go in and apply basic gameplay skills to pass the encounter in the first few attempts, and anything more is grind.

People who enjoy raids really need this driven into their skull like an iron spike: Just because you enjoy raids, does not mean that everyone else is exactly like you, only not as “enlightened” as you are yet. Many people genuinely enjoy different gameplay experiences, and no amount of attempts at raiding will lead to them enjoying it the way you do, and that’s ok.

I’m sorry, but when in my post did I say or even imply that raiding is THE gameplay and that if you’re not enjoying it you’re playing the game wrong? I came to this thread to share my opinion, because it was full of hate. Nobody actually said anything good about raiding. I deliberately tried to share my experience and thoughts without attacking anyone and you come and say that " I need to have bashed in my skull that not everyone will enjoy raiding the way I do" ? Who’s being discriminative now?

I agree that people will feel this way about teaching runs, but I do not understand them. If you you do not try to learn the tips and tricks of any group hobby that requires team effort, I don’t see how you’ll be accepted anywhere. I don’t see why this logic shouldn’t be applied here ,where it’s a game made by humans for humans. Anet themselves said that raids will not be for everyone and that they’d require dedication, practice and consistency.

Which is the same for me with legendary weapons. I feel that it’s a stupidly huge time and gold sink and that the rewards aren’t even remotely worth the resources invested. But I don’t come to the forums to kitten how that is stupid and that it should be nerfed and that it breeds greedy people that play the tp and farm for 6 hours a day, right ?

Yes the only differance mate is that you can make any legendary weapon with enough time no matter if you can only use 2 fingers to press buttons.

That is not true for getting the only legendary armor set announced and viper jewelery at this moment in time

but again, it’s NOT a waste of time. You can argue all you like but no matter how long it may take it wouldn’t be a waste. Even at the absolute maximum, it would inevitably take less time than producing actual new content from scratch, and the result (with FAIR rewards), would be repeatable content that many MORE players could enjoy than the current raids. More players having fun for relatively low amount of work = impossible to be a waste of time.

It’s just something you don’t want to happen.

We’ve covered this to death….What you think is fair is a joke.

Please come back when you have something that’s even remotely close to this arbitrary term you call “Fair”.

You know what i think is “Fair”….

5s and a “We Raided” Spoon worth 10c.

It will keep you coming back right ?

You know whats fair for raids a title you beat these bosses under x minutes and 35 silver that will keep you raiding right?

Can you see how silly your above post is yet?

Ah, but easy mode is what Ohoni is after. I mainly dislike gating rewards (and specifically a gear tier) behind a content that, by design, only a small number of people is ever going to finish.

For me, any alternate way to get them that would not be so restrictive would do.

Yeah fair enough. I’m not sure if I agree with “only a small number of people will complete by design”, but I don’t think that’s strictly your point. We’ll see leg armor in other avenues, but that’s no reason to send raids as they are down the river.

Ah, yes, of course. Should have figured out you are just trolling.

Fun and trolling aren’t the same thing. I do enjoy these threads. They’re good exercise. If the regulars in this thread weren’t having fun, including you, you wouldn’t keep coming back.

Can you show a Dev post about them developing legendary armors for any other modes then raids please.

Would be fun to have a wvw set, pvp set, fractal of the mist set and the only one confirmed raid set.

But I havent seen anywere them saying they would do that. ( considering they cant do legendary weapons Im not holding my breath on that either )

Should Anet invest on more travel items/toys?

My point of view – As much as I’ve loved this game, Guild Wars I and Arena.net ,I can’t shake the feeling that perhaps you are trying to please too many people at once and in so doing are losing the core supporters and fan base that put you where you are in the first place.

Raids – You actually have a large player base even participating in these ? What was it some Dev said once that difficult content is usually something the top 10% or so of gamers are even going to play ? Never been a fan of must play build " A " in-order to participate in said content.

Fractals – Even with the rewards being lucrative I have never found this part of the game fun or something I like doing. Simply making something a " have to do " if I want a legendary weapon isn’t going to make me want to do this any more. In fact there is nothing really that inspires me to play this part of the game.

Dungeons – Same with raids and fractals, this is content which no matter how it is played is entirely dictated by its game mechanics. No matter how one wishes to play you will suffer if your build isn’t in-line with the dungeon mechanics and forget trying to join a group if you can’t show you know what the flavor of the month builds are.

These are just some of the things I think about and parts of the games that irritate me the most. What I live for and something you got right was a living world. I’m a P vs E player and I can jump in the world live a story as I want and get new content to move that world forward so I’m always living a story. This was your core group of fans that made Guild Wars I, we had tough / elite content for those who wanted it but the game wasn’t spread into a zillion directions like it is now.

1.) If new players come to a game that has dead starting areas or they can not finish game content because it requires a group of players and they can not find those groups of players, why should they stay ? New rewards for experienced players to go back to these zones are only going to fix things for a short period of time. Once those rewards are gotten, new players will once again be on their own. Your games survival seems to be built around new rewards every time and not bringing players together. Your game mechanics and content also preclude smaller guilds and just a small gathering of friends to be unable to even try certain content and not every player likes to be in a guild with hundreds of players. I have a small group of friends I’ve gamed with since Guild Wars I and I wouldn’t trade them for another hundred players just to do game content. While I’m ranting here I hope certain points are being brought up that’s been a problem since day one.

2.) I have no idea how servers work and perhaps that’s something which needs to be looked into. P vs E was changed to a mega server and perhaps W vs W will be in the end as well. There is no reward for being loyal to a home server and aside from W vs W that’s the only reason to really stick with one. Isn’t there a way to include districts like we had in Guild Wars I so we had a choice of which mega server to be on ? Hell the current way servers are set up makes it even hard for players to organize community events. I use to look forward to those events and they are quite frankly a thing of the past. Although I do have an option of using LFG and hope, HOPE, that I get on the same map as most of my friends before the map gets filled up and I’m stuck playing with strangers.

Now before some moron wants to state that an MMO is all about hundreds and hundreds of players on-line and gaming with other players, I would like to say " really I had no idea ". I enjoy gaming with and helping people I meet in the game but I also want to game with and build things with my friends. Almost all new content can not be done without a group and if 2 or 3 players can not tackle things to build a guild hall, team build each other up, then they will leave one at a time slowly but surely where they will be able to do those things. Some of your player base is being lost not because they don’t enjoy the game but because you preclude them from doing it with their friends. Sure raids and said content should be there for the " elite " if you will but this games life is going to rest on the ability for players to complete all content from beginning to end. That’s simply not true with the state of the game today.

Well 2 out of 3 of your complaints are none void.

You never needed any specific build to join dungeons or fractals, only thing that gated fractals is agony.
My pvt guardian, celestial warrior, rabid necro had no problem getting into dungeons or fractals as long as I avoided the zerker only partys. Hint start your own partys and you will get through it in due time.

More often then not before they made dungeons unattractive the ones spending longest in line was the pug zerkers that demanded certain ap to enter.

all welcome filled up faster could complete 1 wing or a full dungeon before zerker party even started.

Only thing that was faster was organized zerkers but sound like you dident really fit in with those anyway mate.

Legendary weapons

They are a key part of the endgame because the system of goals set by Anet is based on style and cosmetics, instead of the unending power treadmill most other MMOs use.

Then you could say that about ANY piece of gear … they are all a system of goals set by Anet based on style and cosmetics. Such a broadly defined think can hardly be considered ‘key’.

Legendary weapons are the centerpiece of that system. Designed to be the flashiest and most impressive looking items in the game, to make players want to work toward obtaining them. In a game where skins and fashion are the a big part of the goals set for players to achieve, the shiniest weapons available will be a major endgame goal. They were put in the game for the purpose of being the ultimate endgame goal.

They are STILL the centerpiece of that system; Anet is not removing them. They just aren’t adding more at the expected frequency. Developing more Legendaries is not necessary to maintain whatever status you attribute to their existence; key part of that endgame experience or not.

What was the expected frequency?
Yes anet are removing 12 of the 16 legendarys they said would get into the game over time.
Becouse putting them on hold indefenately, sorta like dungeons were 2 years before they were declared dead content.
Is sure as hell not getting them into the game in any frequency.

I’m surprised the salvage kits aren’t a slot system like harvesting tools. One where you work your way up to better kits and buy a unlimited kit for 1000 gems.

This is being sarcastic right?

So in that game you could master 1 or spread out on afew/alot and here you can master 2 up to 4 i belive if you buy extra crafting licenses so how is that diffrent?

Whats really annoying is that jewel/cooking is basicly worthless since they cant craft anything ascended worthy.
Cooking get further devalued by all the seasional food that drop in large quantitys

Wrong. In that game you could master to 100 only 1 and take the rest to 60. The last 40 points are finite. In GW2 everyone can take all crafts to full cap, meaning no one relies on anyone on the market or the TP because everyone can make their own everything, which kind of destroys the point of even having a crafting system and a market system. Imagine if that the crafting system was account bound, and after capping there was a certain amount of point that can could only be put in 1 or 2 of the disciplines, thus creating market niches coz people would rely on each other more for certain items they need to progress. Imagine choosing cooking and be part of the sub-market of chefs competing in prices for those “higher” and endgame foods that would help raise stats. This of course can never happen because of megaservers and a global market.

So in that game all your characters were master crafters of same discipline?

Man way to break immersion.
-Mr mage why are you a master blacksmith.
-Uh I donno my warrior friend did it for me.

Much rather have this system were if I work for it I can do anything, if I dont I can still buy it of the tp if needed.

Well if its the collections and tieing them to events that take to much time to develop its quite simple scrap em and tie the new skins of legendarys to the old ones.

Just as we can switch stats we can now switch skins.

People who have made the 2 gen legendarys get gold refunded to bring it in line with 1 gen legendary of same type.

If you made both gold refunded equal to the material cost of 2 gen one.

Im guessing the system to make a second non flashy legendary is scraped aswell?
As luck would have it this solves that problem to since all the first gen legenarys are still avaliable in game so you can get two of the same kind.

As Illconceived Was Na stated, its simple as puting as he stated.

- “This achievment can only be completed during wintersday”
- “This achievment can only be completed during season 1”

Boom. 30 seconds of development.

And that was in the game the collection clearly stated could only be done during winters day and they couldent change it when they let people do festival imbibler during the rest of the year it still stated will not be able to be completed after wintersday.

The other ap is that for the spvp season 1 achivement?

All the season ap have been timed wvw season is the only one I can clearly remember so why should spvp seasons be any diffrent?

I appreciate that the costs of the guild hall upgrades are meant to be distributed even though at this point it doesn’t seem to be working that way since the cost of the upgrade greatly exceeds its actual benefits. The point of comparing the cost of this one requirement to a precursor was to give the value a frame of reference. We all know that 644 gold is a good chunk of change, but as an abstract figure it can be difficult to conceptualise. Saying a precursor’s worth of gold is just a useful frame of reference to demonstrate how expensive this requirement is, even if the costs are paid in a distributed way.

and if you are a 50 man guild its 13 gold each just some pocket change

Remember, that’s only one material among many, for a single upgrade among many.
Also, do guilds smaller than 50 people really need to pay out of their noses for guild upgrades?

We only got one size fit all guild halls so all pay the same sadly, do I wish it were like that no but thats what we got.
Ofcourse if we had diffrent sizes with smaller cost the bonuses would have to be diffrent sizes aswell dont you agree?

Yea another note dont waste laurels on fractal rings the daily chests for 3 1-20 21-50 and 51-100 give them quite frequently.
+ you can get them form the box for the specific daily 1-20 and 21-50 aswell.

And when you done dailys afew days you will save up prestine fractal relics so you can buy a specific one if your unlucky.

Just dont have a copy of the same one you can only equip one of each so if you want same stats you will have one with defensive and one with offensive infusion slot.
