Today I tried Ascalon path 1 in solo.
I could kill the first spider boss, after several deaths.
But the 2nd one was too hard, I abandoned.

I would really like to be able to do dungeons when I want and without having to wait to create a group.

Imarion

Well i dont think i seen anyone solo p1 since after second boss you have to defend npc and destroy total of 6 mounds with gravelings.
You start with 2 when u kill one of em another spawn in a dif loc.

I would advise just useing lfg and writing if u want to watch movies or are new they will fill up.

And to the one above did you really solo gw1 that would mean no npc helpers.

I bet if everyone stopped buying gems the policy would change over night.

Then we may get answers to things like the 2 year+ old Cantha thread… I hope they know how ridiculous that is and how insulting it is to let your players do nothing but speculate on near zero information given.

Something needs to be done, I have already stopped purchasing gems since a yr ago and hardly even play anymore except to do my ‘grocery list’ of things. All we can do is speak with our wallets, because words aren’t reaching them.

Step 1) uninstall
Step 2) go play any one of the multiple MMOs that have released expansions. (and had near full-disclosure on information leading up to them!)

Or game get shut down its bleep afterall, look what happen to city of heroes/ villains it was making a profit just not big enough

I fully and completely understand the frustration. I truly comprehend that players would like us — someone, anyone! — to “open the floodgates” on information. That’s not in the cards. However, I have some ideas that I am going to float internally to see if we can say a bit more while honoring the overall communications policy.

Gaile, there’s a number of responses to your post overall. I’ll keep it simple:

A company cannot improve communication with customers when that company specifically has a policy that says it can’t communicate with customers.

Your job and goal to improve communications is completely at odds with that company policy – and that policy is simply wrong for so many reasons that I could spend an hour writing a response about. Don’t work to find some way to work within the policy. Get the policy changed.

Arenanet learned the completely wrong lesson from the precursor crafting thing. It shouldn’t be that you can never ever let anything slip that isn’t 100% confirmed – it should be that when plans and priorities change, that needs to be communicated.

You can never go wrong by being open and honest with your customers. Your customers will support you, even if it is “bad” news, if you are consistently open and honest with them.

QFT

What a joke of a policy ‘no communicating future of the game to its players’

Imagine if Blizzard just stopped communicating all of the sudden… idk why ANet gets away with crap like this.

I guess it’s better to believe the game is dead/dying and will remain to get puny insignificant LS updates and pvp will continue to be ignored with 1 mode. ANet logic.. makes absolutely no sense to me nor does it sound profitable but hey I’m not an expert.

Considering all the threads that get started they aint getting away with it.
The sad part is anything we do dont really help in the slightest.

Real life isn’t a game. We had, in my family, almost the same exact Thanksgiving Day celebration every year. There might be some very minor changes (and there were some significant changes to rewards this year), but over all, it’s the same thing. It’s a tradition.

In Guild Wars 1, many holiday events were the same year after year, with maybe the exception of a certain reward).

The one thing in real life you don’t have to do every single Halloween is program stuff for a day. You buy or make another outfit. For some people that means an hour.

And that has nothing to do with the OP anyway. The OP is happy with the game and expressing thanks.

Guess i got spoiled from the changes from 2012 to 2013 and expected the same 2014 silly me

I do commend you for the stoicism displayed when conversing with Anet, if nothing else.
It’s rather certain I myself would feel at least somewhat offended by what are often patronising/disingenuous replies and obvious-as-daylight red-herrings tossed to divert the attention from key issues.

Now…I understand that feeling. Oh, how I understand that feeling. What I keep reminding myself is that Gaile is not the one who can make any of the changes we need, and she can’t even comment on them in a meaningful way, due to the policies that restrict her (which is exactly what this thread is trying to call attention to ).

So she’s doing what she can — the “do you want spoilers?” and “is living story enough?” questions do come off as red herrings. But given her options under ArenaNet policy, I think this is really about the extent to which she can engage in communication on the topic, and I do appreciate it. She’s shaping the conversation to rule out easy answers and prompt responses that will be more persuasive to the Decision Makers. That’s how I see it, anyways

Now that the weekend is over, I hope to see some of the discussion trickle up to the Decision Makers, so that one of them just might grace us with a reply

That aside, I think you should intervene before your thread gets (locked) down.

I edited that to avoid throwing more fuel on the fire ;-) I’m doing my best!! So far, self moderation has worked well for the first 6 pages of this thread, I’m hoping we can return to the topic soon.

This post is, at its core, about communication. While they threw Gaile in the line of fire, which is a good move IMO and one i’ve requested for awhile now, we are still stuck with company policy. We can all beg (and have) that they move away from tight-lipped discussion and the “it’s not off the table” talk, but at the end of the day, it’s also going to be on their terms.

Oddly enough, it’s the worry that it’s going to bit them in the hind-quarters, if they mention stuff they are or aren’t working on/towards and when they basically go silent it does the same thing too. Either way, I too wish they would refocus and clarify, regardless of the outcome. A meaty state-of-the-game post in the news would be something they could be doing once a month at least. My worry is they just don’t have anything to report.

Am I the only one who think about this at the Threw Gaile at the line of fire

And I second the “Meaty state of the game post” atleast once every 1-2 months depending on how thick it really is

People keep using words like what the player base wants. Some people think the “player base” wants new dungeons. I’m sure that’s true for a percentage of the playerbase, but I’m not so sure it’s true for the player base as a whole.

People talk about people logging in or not logging in. They may not be logging in but plenty of people seem to be.

The living story is hit and miss. On a well liked chapter, people log in more. The recent chapter has seen a lot of activity in my guild and on maps as well.

I think people should talk for themselves instead of “the community”. Because I don’t think this community speaks with one voice.

sigh

No offense Vayne but I often see those posts from you in threads that I like.
Not the first time I saw you claiming that some people are using the word “community” when talking about things that they want to see, either.

Let me try to explain this to you as easy as I can:

x = the community of this game
y = Individuals (some claiming to be the “community” some not)
f = factor (In this case the amount of people)

=> x = f* y

so…even if we pretend that there are only 20 ppl here (in this particular thread) that are claiming that they know what the community wants, and (not even close) 10 ppl that share your opinion, => f = 20-10

Don’t you see?
We ARE the community! All of us! Some don’t care about where this game is going. Most people do care and want to know.

I am really not offending you! I just have the impression that you can’t see the meaning of the word “community”

Sorry but this isn’t close to true. When people say they’re speaking for the community, there’s an implication that the community as a whole wants something. There have been many pro mount threads, but no one would say the community as a whole wants mounts. It’s POSSIBLE a majority of the community does want them, but saying the community wants it because 10 people or 20 people or 30 people want it is wrong. In the case of mounts it’s particularly wrong because a large percentage of the community is against them? How many? I don’t know.

And that’s the point. I don’t know. So I’m not going to come in here and talk “for the community”. That’s a way of trying to make it look like you have numbers to support you.

When someone says people in the community want more dungeons, well…people in the DUNGEON community probably do. But that doesn’t mean everyone or even most people want it.

So now we have the question. If you’re not speaking for everyone and only your small demographic what does adding the words “the community” add to your argument?

At best, they add nothing to the argument. At worst, they’re misleading.

I’m part of the community too, and people sure as hell aren’t talking for me… most of the time anyway.

Yes but this thread is for people of said community that want to know were this game is headed.

Is it only living story?
Or will we get new spvp maps, classes, races, dungeons an wvwvw objectives.
Its not only 1 or the other mate.

But Im starting to agree, they dont want to say no to anybody since that will make people leave for sure.
Better to string people along aslong as possible, I for one havent done a story since s2e1 but I have loged in to unlock em all.

Edit
I forgot weapons still waiting for my Hammer as melee aoe for my Necro make it happen, sure let other classes get some luv to if you must hehe

But every player has the auto run button. Not every player has the macro. Nor can they be expected to have the macro. Analogy does not work.

Smoother combat is advantageous. I get that the OP is not wanting to use it to be better at combat than others, but ANet can’t allow one person to use an advantageous macro but not others based on what the person says. Everyone would lie to say that it was for some disability. Which would cause ANet to have to not believe anyone who said it was fora disability which would end up in the same situation as it is now.

I’d be very very very wary about using any macro/overlay that messes with combat. And a macro/overlay that’s called Combat Mode strikes me as one that messes with combat. That said, I don’t think ANet currently has any program that scans to see if macros are used and if so, what they are for so it takes getting reported to get banned. At least from what I’ve read, I could be wrong.

Unless you’re using a musical macro (the ONLY macro that ANet has said would not have action taken against), you have to use it under your own risk.

Because the Rules of Conduct say ‘20. You may not use any third-party program (such as a “bot”) in order to automate gameplay functions, including playing, chatting, interacting, or gathering gold or items within Guild Wars 2.’ The EULA says that violating the Rules of Conduct is grounds for a ban. So they choose to turn a blind eye to the EULA with regards to music macros. I would not assume the same for any macro unless ANet explicitly names it or the type of macro/overlay that it is.

Thanks for saying it better then me Seera.

So you quote said thread i already stated i read and say since its ok for music its ok for combat?

Macroing music cant in any way affect combat.

Macroing so you can move your camera around easier do affect combat, maybe instead of useing a third party program make a suggestion to get a toggle added in game?

I quoted the music macro thread for emphasis. The real point there was the second post I quoted.

Did you not read my post at all? I stated that it does effect combat.

It effects combat in the same way rebinding your keys effects combat. Read the last line of my post. (The one above yours.)

Please answer that question.

Edit
Anet them selfs added a time table when every boss will be on everyday if i dont remember wrong so that point is moot.

Voice coms sure affect combat in making the people more organised but it dont change the game client in any way

You are forgetting the fact that before AreanaNet added those timetables to the wiki, the only way to get these timers were through third party websites and programs. There were even overlays that allowed you to see the boss timers AND the WvW maps.

ArenaNet has proven that they were perfectly fine with these maps and boss timers by making their own boss timers. You can find them on the wiki for Guild Wars 2.

As for your point about Voice Coms not changing the game client in any way: Neither does Combat Mode.

Combat Mode is an Overlay.

That give an advantage of not having to hold down a button that you have to hold down if you dont use said overlay.

So just becouse arena net cant review every overlay all is ok?

it stated that even if maybe it give an advantage you should not use it or use it on your own risk.

So, is using Auto Run an advantage?

Players that use Auto Run do not have to hold down a key to run, so is that an advantage?

Oh boy your really streaching it now, you mean auto run thats in the game you can even keybind it in keybinds.
Show me were you can keybind auto hold right mouse button in the keybinds section of gw2 please.

ArenaNet did keep us in the loop, announcing when it was being pushed back, and then when the current iteration was scrapped, and had to be started from scratch.
