With what’s been said above this post, I add the following: poke your nose in everywhere, go places that shouldn’t have anything in them, dive down holes, climb up as high as possible, talk to the NPCs, click on random objects (could be funny, could spawn something in your face).

Who knows. You might find something totally off the wall like a war-room of cats tucked into a hidden cranny in the middle of a jump puzzle. Or a bunch of turkeys randomly crammed in a nook in a dungeon. Or clamber your way through to a beautiful sub-world with the most amazing Charr cub.

One of the first things that won my heart about this game is a random, unnamed NPC in Div Reach who loves cats… and will talk to you at length about them. And I nearly hurt myself laughing at the NPC exchanges at the Cow Launcher.

Its not a cow launcher its a cattlepult

Regardless of the origin of the current trait system, the revelation that Nexon’s monetisation manager has spearheaded one of the most widely advertised features of the expansion to come, indeed a system that is touted as the basis for all future development of the game, has me, once again, deeply troubled.*

So what is this new core system you talk about all i read was npe/new trait system….. the trait system aint new anymore.
Then if they wanted people to spend money to buy gems maybe they should talk away the gold to gem conversion aswell if they are as greedy as you seem to think they are.
Edit
If your talking about mastery system then that has taken its inspiration from WvWvW leveling system and you cant buy those levels so i cant see how nexon would have anything to do with that.

For legendary trinkets, the gifts are going to have to be involved. What you’ve suggested is something far more OP than any of the legendary weapons we have now given the ease of obtaining them using your process.

Legendary accessories will need to factor in
Gift of Exploration
Gift of Magic
Gift of Might
Icy runestones

A Xunlai ingot should probably be something like
20 Silver ingots
20 Gold ingots
20 Platinum ingots
(20 of each because of the higher abundance of these ores)
and 1 Lump of mithrilium to keep it consistent with Deldrimor steel.

To make an Ascended jewel would take 2 Xunlai ingots (to make an Electrum Filligree), 3 globs of dark matter and 3 Exquisite Jewels (requiring the appropriate orb, orichalcum filligree and ectoplasm recipe).

The Setting would take 2 more Xunlai ingots as will a Band and a Hook while a Chain would take 3 ingots.

To make the final piece would be something like
3 Ascended jewels
1 Setting
1 Chain/Band/Hook
1 Vision crystal

The final tally of parts for a full set of jewels needed would be fairly consistent with ascended armour and weapons and totally consistent with Jewelry making

We already have weapons that need exploration why would trinkets and later armor need it to unless they make materials to get exploration gift easier to come buy some people only want to play 1 char and that will leave them with 2 legendarys totaly as it stands now.

Need more than 1 Specialization to make sense

I still think the answer is simple. You DO have two specializations, example being a Ranger OR a Druid.

No, that’s incorrect.

Ranger is the base class, not a specialization.

Druid is a specialization, and if what they said is true;
1 specialization per class in HoT.
“you’ll be able to swap from one specialization to another outside of combat”

How do you swap from one specialization to another when there is only one?

Please stop saying the base class is a specialization, because it isn’t.

Can you provide a link to were they said that you would be able to go bettwen specializations, since all i have head is that ranger can become druid spec and swap back to ranger out of combat
36:45 into this video he say specializations since he talks about all the classes, then directly after say
-That this specialization system will allow each class to master a (as in 1) specialization that grow that profession into something new almost a secondary profession if you will.

Few questions.

I honestly dont see why everyone thinks that adding a little bit of a need for build diversity would be a bad thing. Whats actually wrong with needing one out of five people to fill a support role? We’re not creating these posts because we’re “bad at the game” or “need to learn my class”. I have four level 80s decked out in Zerker gear, and its freaking boring. Having the same exact role, and only one required build for each class in PvE content? This is seriously what you people prefer over the trinity? If the majority of opponents of build diversity being more of a required aspect of the game can’t come up with better arguments than “learn your class” or “play a different game” than I would say that there are very few solid arguments to be made.

But zerker aint need its only needed in your own head….. i dont have a single zerker and i do the content.
So make your next class wear what ever you like you will still be able to do content, maybe you even will have a harder time since mobs wont die the first min of the fight
Edit
and i have 7 80s havent felt the urge to level my little engi

But why would I do something that is inefficient and sub optimal? Its just like the OP said, if something is the most efficient way to do things, AND is easier, why would I inconvenience both myself and my party to change that?

I honestly dont see why everyone thinks that adding a little bit of a need for build diversity would be a bad thing. Whats actually wrong with needing one out of five people to fill a support role? Maybe you should actually read the thread then?

Ok I will

Gw2 does not have professions it has classes… The role each class can play is DPS, support and heal.

If you want a profession based game – try gw1 or another MMO.

I am beginning to think that all those people begging for trinity simply cannot cope with having to do everything themselves and want GW2 nerfed to the trinity level…

Do I need to repost my “support” list on every single one of my replies on these types of threads? Check a bit higher up for a good list of support (and control) options in this game, that these, “Zerker gear” people you find boring, do use in all their runs.

If you are only following your DPS rotation then you are doing it wrong and “learn your class” applies.

No, you dont. Because although these things are technically supporting your teammates, they are not support builds. They are ways to passively increase your party’s dps while maintaining maximum dps and raising your own dps. When every profession/class/whatever you want to call it/ dont nitpick me over terms, is required by efficiency to use one optimal build that promotes the highest team dps this is not build diversity. I am not simultaneously fulfilling every role at the same time, I am now fulfilling the only role gw2 pve has room for: the big numbers build.
[/quote]

So its not about diversity at all its about being optimal then go zerker since thats what it is and stop complaining.

If you want to play any other way do that since the game support it, making something else optimal and the next group will come around why i cant i control my enemys to death i want to stun lock in pve and pvp implement this for build diviersty.

I’m thinking of quitting too.
I play ranger and it’ s the most broken class in this game.
No survival skills, pets are simply useless ( they die istantly). I hoped for a balance that never came to this game. ( example : a warrior hitted me few days ago with an 11k eviscerate burst skill…if this is not unbalance well tell me what it is).
I doubt things will change for ranger class.
But I will be honest if they make ranger decent in the next expansion I will definetly buy it. If they don’t…I’ ll save my money XD

“REQUIRES ZERKER BUILDS FOR IT TO BE COMPLETED MOST EFFICIENTLY.”

You don’t seem to understand : Zerker is mandatory ONLY IF you want optimal time. Don’t care about that ? Fine, you can play whatever you want.

Yes, and my want for different, challenging PvE content would make BUILD VARIETY mandatory ONLY if you wanted optimal time.

Understand yet?

In case you don’t, I’ll give you an example.

1. New tough boss vs. all zerk players = all dead players
2. New tough boss vs. zerk players + support-focused players = alive DPSers with added damage and support from the support-focused players.

No. 2 is the most optimal.

But thats not how it is now
1 all zerkers boss down in 5 mins
2 mix and match boss down bettwen 6-15 mins

How is your way better when it makes so all cant complete content?

Answer its not
you want to change meta to lock out one playstyle maybe more depending on how focused you need those support players

Do you not see your own hypocrisy? The current meta currently locks out all other players who aren’t zerk.

It frigginas hell dont i dont play zerker and i sure as hell do the content just not as fast as zerker.
Im fine with that im not in a hurry you seem to be tho

We already got bosses were zerker aint optimal Teq comes to mind but still people dont go support…. Becouse they cant when hes on a timer.
Your way dont give diversity it only force another meta.
The way we have now you can play anything just take longer and dont we play games to waste time and have fun anyway?

Arenanet should get rid of certain worthless stats. And just focus on power, precision, ferocity, cond, vita and toughness.

They will have to come with clever boss design and balance this encounter super carefuly to be doable with every composition (5x full zerker,5x full support or mix of both )

In conclusion, so far they have shown to be lazy to deal with something like that. So no… more punching bags with no need for support builds.

Why don’t you give an example on how you would do it.

If the game is about killing stuff, would the stats the favor killing stuff faster be viable if you have the skill?

Unless you change all the fights to involve not killing stuff support stats are worthless. This is true even with games that have the Trinity, the bulk of the damage is done by DPs classes with support being spam bots.

In response – a couple of different scenario examples.

A single boss fight that hits hard in AoEs, puts out more CC, puts out more condition damage (compared with single boss fights we have currently in the game). DPS players will go down quicker than popped balloons without adequate stability, regen, vigor, protection, heals etc. In this scenario, no support-optimised players = dead DPS players = no dead boss.

A boss fight in which there are many, smaller enemies attacking your team. This creates a greater risk of enemies attacking/CCing you individually and therefore a greater need for support. Because players who have spec’d for full zerk would have insufficient means to look after themselves (apart from warriors, who can do friggin everything with a pure zerk build anyway -.-), they’d rely more heavily on players dishing out the support.

Ok and since this is play how you want now explain how full zerk only player teams will be able to finish this content to please

That’s exactly what I’ve said I’m hoping will change in HoT.

Why, what do your way do better then the current way?
Now all can do the content not as fast mind you but all can.
After your things are implemented all cant do content since they have to be this this and that or they will fail automaticly.

Waypoints get you to a specific spot; chances are there aren’t going to be waypoints directly at a hidden area or secret, and I also doubt there will be a waypoint at every level of a zone vertically.

Yeah armour damage does seem a bit redundant now as a death penalty.

Armor damage still exists so you can’t just body rush fractals. Honestly; they should also remove the repair anvil from all dungeons and make it so that leaving has consequences… off topic though…

If Silverwastes is any indication, there will be very few waypoints compared to the original areas. I find this new direction (if that’s what it is) very refreshing. Too many waypoints ruin immersion and exploration even more than (flying) mounts.

My hope is that they reduce the number of waypoints and remove the pointless armour damage. Fewer waypoints equals more time penalty for defeat, and therefore there would be little need for armour repair, which is essentially a minor time delay now.

Yeah armour damage does seem a bit redundant now as a death penalty.
