After opening all these lunar year envelopes after getting what I wanted from them, now it’s just “What do I do besides spam click the luck until I max out magic find”?
A luck vendor would be pretty good I think, something like 10 luck = 10 copper or something, I dunno how you’d balance it out. but SOMETHING to get rid of all the excess luck.as far as ‘rushing it’ goes, why does it matter? eventually we’ll hit the cap, whether now or later, and at that point you’ll have the same problem, it’s an inevitability.
if you stoped salvaging blue and greens instead sold them on the tp or vendor trashed them this problem as you state it dont exist.

Then someone else who havent maxed out luck can buy it of the tp and gain some coin back on the materials they salvage.

I think he want a seperate personal story for the revenant.
I would like that to but I dont think it will happen, we will play throught the old ps like every other alt or just not do it at all.

If Anet introduces a new trait and you say you also need new skills because ‘otherwise it’ll feel a bit stale for the people that don’t want to use that trait’ then that seems like a strange argument to make. More options = more options, whether you like or use them or not. It’s not like specializations are in any way a one-time choice or something that takes a lot of work to change in and out of.
except they’ve said time and again that specializations change your mechanics, and heavily implied several times that there are perks to sticking with the base class.

Its something that’s bounced around in my head for a bit, and that’s how the Revenant would be presented at start.
Seeing as how Rytlock was a warrior and “came back” as this new profession, would it not make sense that Revenants aren’t created characters?
Instead, we have to take an existing character through a gauntlet style personal story instance, and at the end of it the base profession changes to Revenant.
Same class level, same personal story history (i.e. Human Noble, Asura Statics, etc.) but the character is forever altered by its trials in the Mists.
Incidentally, this would then open up the opportunity for a “Mists Soulstone” in the Gem Store for 400 gems or so that would allow you to switch any character’s profession at any time (outside of combat of course).
Sounds to me you want ffiv system of all classes on 1 toon for 400 gems.
Sorry bud pony up buy the last 4 slots you need to have 1 of each class and level them up.

It’s not a matter of not getting as much. As stated at present, a non-expansion player will have their end-game character progression (gaining skill points by leveling) stripped out and replaced by nothing.
And as I stated in the linked post, it’s not a matter of “getting it for free.” I even specifically addressed that point.
I don’t think that’s correct; If I understand correctly, they aren’t changing the core game; masteries are just additional content. In fact, they can’t just strip something out from the original release and then leave a gap for people that don’t purchase HOT. They would instantly lose any player who doesn’t purchase HOT. It would be stupid.
In addition, you can justify however you want. It’s not reasonable to put paid content into a previous expansion for nothing, simply because they would de-value their new product. That makes no sense. You want the new content, you pay for it. If you don’t pay, you still have all the value you paid for the original release. This is a well established business model and it works.

It looks like a mash-up of the core mechanics of Rangers and Revenants.
Not only that, Rangers can be a melee pet class.
I don’t really see what this specialisation would bring to the table in terms of new gameplay, to be honest.
Necromancer also has Melee pets. So I don’t see that as a ranger only attribute.
Also Revenant changes their 6-10 skills.
This mechanic changes the weapon bar and locks out the other abilities similar to Death shroud does, just with different ways of generating resources and different forms. Some Necromancer locked away, which is assumed to be the way weapons work for Specializations.So this specialization uses great sword and other Melee oriented weapons that the Necromancer already has.
Dont think a second specialization will be able to use other specializations special weapons to be honest

If its easy to put in a button so you can turn it off yourself then sure, but no help from support when you notice how grindy it is.

Maybe they should have some kind of individual character development (not saying it should be the mastery system) also things that unlock account wide regardless..

Actually, as you have said, it’s about the ability, not the gear, so even better analogy would be you learning to drive in one car, and once you got the license, being able to drive other cars (your alts) as well.

Go grab yourself a glider, climb to the roof of the highest building you can find and jump. Only if you hit the ground hard enough will you understand the difference between a character ability and a player ability. It’s the character that’s learned how to fly and not you. It’s you who’ve learned how to evade branches to not crash the glider and not your character.
Bunji, your logic presumes that a player will play through the entirety of Heart of Thorns content without ever swapping to a different one to experience a different play style, or fill a specific party niche, etc.
Yes, there are a few people who might play the expansion like that, but for those who ever change character, it’s not fair to them to reset their progress when they just wanted to bring their guardian instead of their ranger to help out the group. The same false logic plagued Fractals before they made personal reward account-bound.
What you want is not the same masteries unlocked on all your alts, but the ability to change your class at any given time. Alts are just a tool to you to achieve this.
I know that feeling. I have a mesmer that’s just a tool for porting jumping puzzles. I don’t enjoy playing her the tinyest bit. Of course I’d like for her to have everything unlocked without me lifting a single finger. But for my true alts I’m glad that I can play the story over and over. I’m glat that I can see my alt grow from a tiny little existence to a hero of Tyria. And I’d love it if I can see him grow even beyond that in HoT.
And let’s be realistic here. A complete playthrough of HoT will probably take about 10 or 20 hours. After that? Play it with the next alt. Oh wait… There is nothing to do no matter what alt I choose.
Guess your rank 500 WvW aswell after 10-20 hours, remember this is a long term goal in pve just like the WvW ranks are for that style.
Food for thought maybe our characters talk among themselfs learn from eachother so all know how to do what ever mastery we may unlock.

The ability to train Masteries is unlocked at level 80 for all players that own Heart of Thorns. When this ability is unlocked, your character’s experience bar will change to become a Mastery training bar while in PvE zones."
From that very blog post you reacted to, clearly states if you dont own heart of thorns you wont be able to train mastery hence it will be as it is now if you dont own the expansion.

Adding new content to an expansion is one thing. Stripping out content from GW2 and than reselling it in an expansion is quite something else.

We were talking hypothetically. If arenanet takes the skillpoints for leveling post-lv80 away from everyone, but only give HoT players the mastery experience post-lv80, than that would mean non-HoT players lose all purpose of xp past level 80.
It’s a less grievous hypothetical situation than the new borderland, but a new expansion should never take away anything from players only to than sell it back to them.
Well I havent seen them say they would take away the ability to level without the expasion that would be kinda dumb imo.
If you dont get expasion your game should work like it did before expasnion hit.
Not give stuff away for free but not take anything away either.

Commander Title: Commanding is an ability that the player has. Not the character. Making the commander title account bound makes sense.
WvW Rank: It’s supposed to show your knowlege of WvW and since that is bound to the player, the closest representation of playerbound ingame would be account bound.
Achievements: I’d like to repeat some of the achievements on my alts, but I guess because of how achievements are tied to account-points it’s impossible to get the reward multiple times.
Currency: Gold isn’t accound bound. You can use it on the tp and send it to other players. About the other currencies: The only reason they’re bound at all is to force you to play specific content to get rewards.There are certainly things that make sense to be account bound, because they reflect the player’s skills and achievements, rather than the progression of his character. The ability to lead an army through WvW is the best example for that. On the other hand knowledge like the language of other races or how to penetrate the shell of a mordrem are not bound to the player’s knowledge (Except if you really understand that language without having the game translate it for you). Instead they are bound to the character’s experiences and studies. They should be character bound.
I like how you say WvW rank is ok to be account bound but not mastery rank its the same thing 1 for wvw 1 for pve.
You most likely lead those huge armies with 1 toon in wvw before it got account bound shouldent it only be availiable to that toon to then?

It’s about people asking to have engineer kits visually updated with the expansion. There’s no bugs with the kits, they work perfectly fine, people are calling for the visuals to be “fixed” (in this case, changed) when the expansion comes out. It’s in the same vein as people asking for the new legendaries to be themed a certain way. Asking for an option to have the kits on your back look different as a feature in the upcoming expansion. Is not the same thing as you complaining about a “bug” in the wrong forum.
They aren’t posting in the support forum because IT’S NOT A BUG. THE KITS DON’T NEED TO BE HOTFIXED. They simply want them to have an option to change or hide the visuals of the kit as a feature to the expansion.

when you hit with a burst skill, that means when you land a burst skill attack on a monster.
what you seem hung up about is the first part that you gain adrenaline when you get hit….. so you can use your burst skill more to remove said conditions.

Also Warrior Cleansing Ire has no clear mechanics – you should attack enemy with burst to trigger conditions remove. This is not explained in tooltips.
First off all search funktion aint bugged its broken.
Second how long ago was it that you checked cleansing ire tool tip it clearly states when hovering over icon while sloted in defence line and in the bar to the left of the trait lines what you need to do for skill

No since thats the effects the item have, I do agree that its above bad that you dont throw the actual shield you have equiped tho.

I hope that while the amount of mastery points your characters have is account-dependent, how you spent those points is character-bound.
They already stated once you unlock it on one its unlocked on all, That is ofcourse subject to change liek anything else untill its actualy in our hands. ( and sometimes it change even after that )

With the release of the PoI videos, teasers and information given seems to be very vague as to how the story presentation will be in this new expansion, as many have complained about the lack of immersion through the current or previous story lines (including myself). – Just to clarify, I refer specifically to the main storyline cutscenes, as well as a majority of the living worlds story. This is one of the main points for me and many others for being interested in a game, so I would be remiss if I were not to ask for an answer regarding this?

In the long run , the scepter of orr was an orian artifact . The lich became a dragon minion in the original game . Shiro had been corrupted by the leviathans in factions and turned into a dragon minion-like being . Razah was the first reveneant ; And the mursaat were really trying to prevent the dragons return . The dragons all counter balance the gods in being the opposing power against them , thus rendering any of their magic useless . Zaitan = the dragon of undeath , which counter balances grenth the god of death . Mordremoth = the defloweration or desecration of nature ; The corruption of purity . Where as Malandru is the opposite of this .
I know a lot about the lore, and the story really is great. But what I am referring to specifically is how this lore will be portrayed and presented, namely cutscenes and dialogue windows.
Many people including myself did not feel the presentation of story and cutscenes was engaging or immersive enough. – Of course many will make the contrast with the former game’s cutscenes, which has a range of different opinions, but many that I think stick true to the fact that the cutscenes we are presented with now have much less of an impact than they did in the previous game, or a variety of other games and methods of cutscenes/story development.I could be more specific as to the issues with the cutscenes and presentation, but I don’t think it is necessary, as I imagine Arenanet will have their own ideas, as well as huge numbers of reviews over the years, many of which reiterate the same ideas. (Though I can present them if wanted)

what exactly are you asking for? that you character are to run around during cutsences and interact in them?
ok what have they written other then that you will get masterys in the core world and what other lines have they said other then the precursor ones.
Do you with a straight face say that people being able to craft all the legendarys we have atm will make them not play with the people who cant craft them?
I dont have a legendary , Heck i dont want one either . And its a slap to the face that the people who worked their butts off getting the precursors and the legendary’s now will feel cheated out of time , effort and money. Way to go and shoot yourself in the foot A-net ; People are gonna be all upset about it . I mean really i don’t care much , i dont even want a legendary atm and probably wont because im all eh toward it . Its cool but its not like the do or die type thing .
