It do not you can still use those gems on anything in the gem store or convert it to gold.
There is just no way for anet to know if u buy it with free gems from ap chests or gems bought with money, so they want all to buy with money to be sure to get paid.

We’ve waited for Pole-arm/Spear/Halbeards etc, for a lot longer. Seen so many games with great spear/Lance animations, and it makes me wonder wtf is keeping Anet from doing that in GW2. :/
Cant say i remember many games with them in hunter had spear it in dark ages of camelot, armsman had polearm.

You can’t just add weapons because they’d be “cool”. Not only is that not a proper argument, but it’s also missing the fact that you would need to design a niche for the weapon to fill before it can even be considered. There’s no point in having two different weapons that do the exact same thing.
And your argument about 1h and 2h options existing other than for axes, you’re kind of not in the right there either:
- What is the 2h option for Dagger? Can’t be GS since that’s Sword already.
- What are the 1h options for Shortbow and Longbow?
So for your argument to be anything valuable, you need to:
- Establish a niche for it
- Give the same treatment to every other weapon
Since its more likely dagger- sword – great sword
We need kama – axe – great axe
sap – mace – hammer
wand – secepter – staff
buckler(usable while dual wielding weapons) – shield – tower shield (main hand or 2h)
Sadly kinda hard to find good alternatives for the last 5 weapon types
deringer – pistol – rifle
slingshot – shortbow – longbow
match – torch – bonfire
duck caller – horn – vuvuzela
keyring – focus – hula hoop
Apart from a few new animations: what would 2H axe add to the game that isn’t already there? I mean, do you see a missing mechanic due to 2H axes not being implemented?

No game takes your money. Much like all F2P games, they put in enough grind/inconvenience that it encourages enough (in case you still want to be annoying, ENOUGH, not ALL; you’re not the center of the universe) people to convert their money into ingame currency to reduce the grind time.
And if you think 3k gold without playing the TP is not a long enough grind, or each dreamthistle skin going for 800+ gold, then you’re just trolling.
That is the entire basis of free to play games. Placing enough annoyances/obstacles to incentivize people to spend cash at the store.

I wonder how people managed to finish dungeons when game launched. No veterans for help. No guides to look up. Somehow we still managed.
Because the current attitudes and beliefs about how people complete a dungeon today are beyond unnecessary (I know your post wasn’t meant as seriously as I’m responding to it). You don’t need to stack, you don’t need to stack might and fury (hell, half the pugs I join don’t do this), you don’t need to be in zerker and you certainly don’t need to bring two ele, one warrior, one guardian and one thief meta builds.
The current meta has become a low skill-cap crutch – dungeons are fast and easy when you all run zerker, all stack might, all run meta professions and builds and all LoS every mob.
Taking it to less of an extreme, there are multiple ways to reach 25 might stacks and perma fury. Many professions have powerful melee cleave weapons, many professions can apply vulnerability stacks and all professions have +% damage traits. We have pug groups thinking they need a speed clear, record breaking meta simply to get their daily dungeon gold grind done quickly and efficiently when that’s simply not the case.
What do you mean it’s not necessary?
I got maybe 2-3 hours to play. The difference between a group that finishes a dungeon in under 10 minutes and one that takes 20 minutes to an hour directly impacts whether I can do my dungeon tour.
What’s more, people who want to save time also do it because if you finish those dungeons faster, you get to have time to do something else.
Let’s give an example. I want Kudzu right now. That’s around 2k+ gold worth of mats. Or I want the dreamthistle skins which each are going for 1k since I missed a few before they retired them.
So doing 20-30 minutes a dungeon path with a deficient pug I might fit say 6 runs at 30 minutes or 9 with 20 minute clears. That’s essentially between 6 (let’s say 7 gold with dropped mats) to 9(10) gold for these runs.
At 7-10 gold per play session, it would take me 100 three hour play sessions for a dreamthistle skin (assuming that by 100 days the skins are not bought out and the prices go even higher for the few remaining) if I am earning 10 gold per play session, or 200 play sessions for the legendary.
That’s really bad.
People are obsessed over speed clears in this game because the rewards are total garbage and the gold grind for skins massive due to everything being attained via low RNG droprates (even with precursor collections in HoT, you can’t farm lodestones or t6 mats reliably so those ridiculous costs due to low RNG remain).

It’s not the most interesting game to me either. The end-game grind for ascended gear is just a chore I’m gritting my teeth and getting through at the moment. Though many other games have it worse.
For me I know why I don’t currently love it. Cooldown driven combat isn’t fun to me and obviously that’s what most of the profs are. Revenant is going change that for me, which is why I’m back playing after a long absence.
How about thief and elem got so many abilitys you hardly feel the cds

Yes you will still be able to run full damage but why should everyone in your team have to be full damage?
Roles are not dependent on gear in this game. They also are not exclusive; i.e. you can be both a healer and a dps role at the same time. There should never be a need to change your gear stats since they should not be needed for completion of anything. Changing gear sets only changes the numbers we see.
The combat system in gw2 relies on movement. It prides itself on it. We use movement in combat to avoid damages mainly. The more powerful support is the less movement we need to do. Too much damage also makes movement trivial (stacking). This is a problem with mechanics and AI that should be fixed.
Condition damage is another thing that needs to be fixed in group pve. That has it’s own technical problems but it is very much worth solving.
Gameplay diversity should come with the weapons, utilities and traits that you bring to a fight not from the stats. I am all for making movement more important for some bosses (the anomaly for example) and making players bring teleports, swiftness etc. That is fun and everyone can easily change traits/utilities and weapons without the costs of extra gear sets.
The problem we have is that how many stats do we have that affect dps?
pure physical dps 3 main power ferocity precision that affect two minor critical damage and critical chance
Dps condition 1 main condition damage 1 minor condition duration
And how many for healing?
1 main healing power
And how many for support?
1 minor boon duration
How in the nine hells are these 3 supposed to be able to 3 diffrent roles you can specialize in to group up?
I talked to maddoctor about this in another thread and someone jumped me for taking toughness as a selfish stat that boosted your support skills like guardians reflect wall.
How about a support main stat that affect how long your support skills last like all the relfect skills etc if you dont have this stat your dps wont go down and but you wont be able to support yourself or others.
Why should people thats pure dps be able to support aswell as someone who want to go full support? ( They have had their cake and eaten it to for quite long enough now)
Why is there no healing critical and condition critical minor stats?
I mean if you cut someones finger he bleeds alittle you cut someone artery vein that buggers going to bleed alot.
How about toughness reduced the chance to be critical hit same with vitality against condition criticals.
Uhm you dont have to beat it solo its 5 man coneten put up a lfg for story.
Even so you can do explore path if you join a party and let others open.
What do gear stats have to do with your role? Gear != role.
Gear has quite a lot to do with your role. Role is defined by weapon, traits , skills and the stats. Don’t believe me? Next time you run a dungeon give me a call , i’ll make a full nomad gear warrior with meta dps utilities and traits and we’ll see if everyone is happy with my role as a dmg dealer.
And specializing in a certain build is actually a good thing makes roles a bit more defined and opens the door to new interesting builds .
Gear doesn’t have to define your role. Sure gear offers you more Damage, condition or power, but it doesn’t play any other role in the game.
Making gear affect Support more doesn’t open more interesting builds, it actually limits them. If to do proper Support you need specific stats, that’s more limiting for the player, it doesn’t open more “interesting” builds because you will be locked to those stats to play that “role”, while now you can play the Support role just fine using any gear stats you want.
ok but then if support shouldent be affected by stats then damage shouldent be affected by stats either take away power precision condition damage and ofcourse ferocity critical chance aswell.
everyone should be able to do same damge no matter what stats they have….. see what a fun game we get when we turn the tables around

And why is that a bad thing? Allowing people with any stats to Support well makes Support even better.
Not really thats why people complain about the meta full dps can control and support as well as anyone else why should you go into any other role if 1 role can do it all?

No they actualy stated in angry joes video interview from a week ago that yes you will get the wvw/spvp maps but some mechanics will be locked behind expansion

With the new player experience they added in april 2014 you dont see so much on the map it was to confuseing for new people apparently think you have to level up to around lvl 20 before you see all the skillpoint vistas points of interest etc.
Personal story is now every 10 levels and even when you see every icon on map search around there are hidden jumping puzzels and mini dungeons open world chest aswell.
Befriend people you see always more fun with a bud at your side, dont hesitate to help people there is no kill taging all get loot for monsters same with nodes of resources its your own personal ones and you can grab it on every character on your account.
if your just along for the ride you get to see the story but dont get rewards for it

On a side note I hate these wings, almost died last night when a Charr blocked my view of the boss and the animations. I’m glad anet found a way to fund the game for the next few years, but not to happy about what they do to the general look and feel of the game. I thought it would be cool if instead of dropping ascended rings, they dropped ascended TICKETS/TOKENS. That way, you can choose what you want, if you want to use them, and the tokens would STACK. Hell, even make it another type of currency in the wallet. Include accessories and amulets from the vendor. Elegant, permanent solution.

Yeah, but I think SonOfJacob wants an “Ascended ring box” to drop rather than a ring itself. Wherein if the RNG deems you lucky enough to receive a box, you get to choose any ring (rather than having to save up 10 Pristine Fractal Relics.)
I, personally, think Pristine relics are a great compromise. After 10 sets of Fractals, you can choose whatever un-infused ring you want. (Or, if you get lucky and have your ring drop, you can convert them to regular fractal relics to help you afford the Gift of Ascension.)
Yes, this was my point. So, for example, if Pristine Relics are the answer…just substitute Pristine Relics for Rings. So anytime you WOULD get a Ring drop, you get a Pristine Relic instead. The point is that the “currency” has more value merely because it’s stackable and you get a choice of the attributes you choose.
Now don’t get me started about not being able to convert Relics BACK to Pristine Relics…the whole thing is ridiculous…just make everything purchasable priced in regular Relics, and Pristine Relics just get double-clicked to add to the wallet. It’s net is the same effect, except they get to be stored in the wallet.
whats stoping you from having 250 pristine relics in the bank thats 1 bank slot if they ever add anything you need to buy for pristine relics?

I feel that raising the votes needed for a kick to 3 votes should solve most of the issues. It would at least make it less attractive for leeching sellers to kick you at the end to sell the dungeon (because now they would only have 2 spots to sell instead of 3, which they then have to share the profit between 3 players instead of 2).
wouldent solve anything just give greifers less profit, make it 4 so if you duo as sellers you cant be kicked and still get the same profit.
