For me people who farm content with meta builds and trains, people who play the trade post all day, I know you are entitled to play how you like but why not try all aspects of the game rather than force people to be experts in one game mode?
So you want these people that play how they want to try other parts of the game but then turn around and say other peopler the berserker wearers that want you to try and play like they do their parts are wrong becouse you dont want to.
Seems like you have mixed signals here mate.
Play how you want join people in dungeons that have all welcome msgs and open world noone can tell you what to wear anyway so go for it.
This is what friends list is for find people that feel like you add them then play only with them dont use the lfg tool bam done you got your filter
Edit
And dont complain when it take long to form groups thats on you becouse you want it that way.
the title says zero dps but its a lie I clearly see the thief doing damage in the video
I completely agree with this, more content that is Difficult, with appropriate rewards to balance difficulty vs incentive.
I also like the idea of raid tokens, as this would allow us to acquire unique gear that cannot be obtained anywhere else.
I wouldn’t mind possibly selling this completed gear to others for profit, and the only way to access it is by having a certain degree of player skill. The rest of the players who do not possess such skill/time should have to compensate those who do.
Only if said cosmetics/rewards are account bound and as every other game when the 1% are done chasing the carrot its gradualy lowered so in the end everyone will be able to get their cosmetics ( while said 1% are chasing their new carrot ofcourse hehe )
there are no low pop PvE servers they all share the same world WvW however is a dif beast entierly
or you could have the char be the intended level and switch before last boss getting the exp and the reward for downing boss, but then again you have to learn to play your alts then dont seem like you want that mate.
Serously cant understand how people have a hard time lvling alts with all the writ of exp and tomes that are given out with daily login and tasks ( 3 to 12 depending on your highest level). You get even more if you do some pvp reward tracks aswell.
All that said, I sometimes have a hard time separating out those who want a challenge from those who want better (and/or exclusive) rewards. Often, the two wants are inseparable.
Most seem to want better rewards, so they can sell them for greater profit or to give themselves an advantage.
This game is good in the fact it’s not going to have better stats than ascended. That’s one thing this game needs to stick to.
Harder content doesn’t need to have better rewards, if the reason is purely to test your skills.
Trouble is a lot of raiders in other games do it for the profit they can get from the better rewards. They are effectively stimulated by the amount of gold they can make per hour rather than how difficult it is.
This is a MMO. If you dont care about rewards there are plenty of other games out there for you. Why shouldnt harder content give better rewards? You put more effort and thought into it so why shouldnt you get better rewards for it?
Because that’s not what this game is about? It’s like saying “I’m a great healer, why am I not rewarded for it in GW2?”
This is a casual game. If all you care about are rewards there are plenty of other games out there for you. Why should harder content give better rewards? If you ask for harder content in a casual game, then why shouldn’t the harder content itself be seen as the extra reward?
Where did you get this idea Gw2 is suppose to be a game only for casual players? They promoted hard content before the game was released but failed with the AI (admitted by Colin and Izzy). The harder content was also suppose to reward better loot.
If you didnt know HoT is suppose to bring challenging content.
Please give a source on were they state that harder content was suppose to reward better loot.
Harder content is there for the challenge, want harder dungeons do ac explorable with only lvl 35s do the same with all other dungeons. (hard mode go with 5 levels below said dungeon)
Just becouse you can breeze through it at max levels dont mean its hard at the intended levels
Edit
Really we need to turn down the kitten limitation in the forum just becouse it can mean naught things dont mean you cant use it in a normal sentences. you cant type Hardand On after each other as an example
It would take me way to long to find the source. This was more than 3 years ago. Rewards give the content re playability without them no one is going to do a fight more than 4 times. A example of that is the LS 2. 9/10 people wont go back to do the content since it doesnt have any rewards (other than AP). But once the lumi set hit people were doing it left and right.
kitten I must be playing the game wrong then I do it for fun and challenge with pugs since you never know what the others will bring.
I have certainly done every boss fight/dungeon more then 4 times, even tho them just rewarding coin and tokens.
(edited by Linken.6345)
kitten that 76 power is so OP must start to craft ascended on all my chars now only got jewelery on 1 and random rings from fractals on the others
I’m trying out a tank-condi sword ‘n board build. It gets me by, but I have to admit that condition damage alone is pretty underwhelming. That doesn’t mean it’s necessarily useless, just not as great as herpa-kitten mega damage builds. The main problem is the boss battles because most of the time the conditions get capped, at least the bleeding and vulnerability.
Poison is a rare site, and I don’t know why. It seems very viable, what with reducing heal effectiveness as well as dealing some damage overtime. I’m sure it would be very usable in PvP, but I don’t go there, so I don’t know how often it’s used.
The upcoming expansion did promise a buff to conditions, and I’m looking forward to that. It’s rumored the cap will be removed, but then again that was only in the beta. Either way Anet heard us, so all we have to do now is wait.
Yes they said they are trying to remove the cap on conditions, but were did you get this promise of a buff from mate?
I would like to read that for myself from anet thank you ( source )That IS the buff. :P
Clearly should have worded your post better bud, sounded like they were giving it a buff like encrease duration or damage and removing cap.
Why do people always overstate the difficulty of GW1?
The vast majority of the game can be more or less AFK:ed.There is of course also the part about everything becoming easy after a while when people have learned how to do it.
Well because it was harder. It wasnt a really hard game, but gw2 is just a joke. In gw1 u had to work together as a team if you wanted todo speedclears, everyone had a specific role. If you had an important role like T1/T2/… u could just destroy the complete run by casting your SF 2 seconds to late.. Your party would probably leave and have to restart the run and but for each run u had to pay 7k for a new conset. So you absolutely didnt want to die. I know after 100 runs it becomes easy. But in gw2, it’s easy from the first time you try. Once i did this dungeon in gw2 (expl.mode). I had absolutely no idea what i had to do,, i just ran around,, i cleared the dungeon in 15min… like… That made me sad.
And all of you were the intended level of said dungeon noone was max and noone knew what to do or did you just piggy back on people that new what they were doing?
Edit
Remember doing ac p2 at release as lvl35 with friends noone knew what to do and we quit at last boss since we got two waves of ghost on one trap and couldent kill them so npc could build the trap.

have fun with the hours upon hours of wvw ques mate
I want a server extremely active in WvW… roaming, raiding, etc… and has a decent size playerbase.. IoJ isn’t doing it for me anymore. What would you recommend
A tier 2 sever tier 1 is bloated already so you wont be able to do much WvW yourself anyway mate
@OP, no this game is not “too easy compared to other MMOs”. Show me another MMO where years-old content is not facerolled by the players. If anything this game is much harder than other MMOs because parties in dungeons can still actually fail after all this time.
More to the point, you don’t actually want harder content. Harder content will only be completed by a tiny percentage of the population, and those that do complete it will do so in an afternoon and then come QQ on the forums about how they want more. Let’s see how long a game focused on bringing in the casual audience survives on that kind of content.
Personally I think the level of challenge in this game is perfect. Dungeons and FOTM seem really hard at first, but with skill and practice they become increasingly easier.
Hey just look at wildstar they tried to cater for the hardcore and succeded but the game failed becouse of it.
I’m not sure people understand what “viable” means. I’ll admit some hybrid builds are viable, but no pure condi build is viable currently.
If by some miracle you could maintain 25 stacks of bleed, permanent burning, and poison and 3 stacks of torment then with 25 stacks of might you are doing a maximum of 6000 dps. That is HALF of what a power based build currently does. That is in no way “viable”. GW2 is easy enough that it is DOABLE, but it is NOT VIABLE.
Conditions need to first have the cap removed and then have their damage roughly doubled in PvE by some method to be “viable”.
vi·a·ble
?v??b(?)l/

capable of working successfully; feasible.Condi builds are viable, but they’re far from optimal in PvE.
exactly. They are currently not viable. You instantly get kicked from any group if you reveal you are a condition spec. I can not successfully complete the content with condition builds.
Hopefully the upcoming changes make them viable so I can complete the content without being told i’m not wanted.
yes they are viable havent had a single condi build kicked from any all welcome group yet. Dont try to join speedclear all zerker groups and your golden.

the pve effort aint wasted your skill points you get from them are changed into hero point that you can use the second the trait system change to buy all the skills you had before.
You only need like 60 of them that less then a third of the total ones
I don’t see any justification for why a build has to have the best of both worlds being good at AoE and single target.
In theory, it wouldn’t have to be, but if the game’s content puts a much higher priority on single target, as it seems to do, then it’s the game’s obligation to allow AoE builds to be balanced against that content.
No its not change to a single target weapon mate

so you have 64 slots already? then Im sad to say they cant give you another ( I mean you said you maxed out)
yea before people just joined kicked the seller for no reason and made no profit on it
you can and are suposed to switch skills out of combat dif skills area needed for dif encounters.
I dubt you will see warriors not run banner of x most of the time
they have stated that they are working to make the last story step a solo dungeon no time frame on when that will be complete.
for the other dungeons i wouldent hold my breath of them ever becoming solo instances.
you dont have to ask anyone to group list yourself on the looking for group tab.
just type in “New watching movies” and it will fill up with like minded people
As the saying goes “if it aint broke, don’t fix it”. There’s little reason to rework the system because it works perfectly fine currently and an alternative isn’t worth investing time/resources in.
Lore wise, the WPs and the system is owned by the asura- you are paying to use their service each time you WP. Unless the asura had some need for junk (trophy) items, I don’t understand how this system makes sense.
If the argument to disagree with the idea is going to be that the we are paying the Asura to run it, then in the spirit of lore I will suggest that the Asura must need technologies and items to keep the system running and sustained. To make their job easier the different individuals of each race could individually contribute by acquiring these items making the need to pay said Asura for the work needless.
You don’t agree. Got it. I still like the idea of further tying game mechanics into the storyline. Looking forward to further ideas on how this can be accomplished, even if what “isn’t broke, doesn’t need fixing”.
Yes but they can buy exactly what they need with the raw cash…. imagen this oh no the norn areas havent been active recently so noone can wp since we dont have the trophys we need from those areas to power the system.
People would grumble that they had to grind certain maps to be able to waypoint.
Im more intrested if the older generation of gamers are from na or eu.
In my early days of gaming back in 96 i met older people from na playing but it dident seem to be the same on my side of the waters ( Im from sweden btw )
Edit
and I just did the same thing by older Im refering to the 50-80 bracket being 33 myself

Asura are little trolls
Norn are vikings.
Those have got to be some of the cutest trolls I’ve ever seen.
its the internet trolls stay away =)
Topdown viewer?
33 and played since beta.
Wife is 32 and has played for a little over a year.
A 30 year old cousin plays.
My brother is 27 and has played for 6 months.
I have some nieces and nephews that play too.
Both my daughters have characters that they play around with. Not only do older people play, but the game brings families together. Nothing like a Friday night dungeon raid with good ol’uncle Karm.
I want to be like ol’unkle Karm.
Sadly noone else in my family plays and thinks I need to grow up, Im 33 btw =)
axe aint melee mate its 600 range

No read the email you got from the stress test
You sure your not downloading another language?
OP, you demanded a price. Players with reasonable expectations gave you reasonable price estimates. You try to dispute them at every turn. What exactly are you wanting out of this thread?
^This
As mentioned, you can reasonably expect $30-$50 (though I highly suspect closer to $30). I fully understand, from your original post, that you are strapped for cash. That said, based on your concern for a game, internet connection and computer able to play the game, and a few other factors I also believe you aren’t poverty stricken either and thus have a limited amount of disposable income (stressing on limited as I know what it is like to be “new to the market”). My suggestion, put $5 in a jar every 2 weeks starting immediately. Don’t touch the jar until HoT comes out except to add to it. By that time, based on projected end of summer release date, you’ll have roughly $50 to spend on the game.
A little pre-planning and discipline can take you a long way in this world.
Well given that in the op they say they got little cash income, hard to save up cash at all and on top of that being an impulse buyer.
I would advice going to a bank putting it into a bank saftey deposit box each week so you cant access it readliy at all.
this isn’t wow.
and ANet has always been good to their playerbase. You brought up that they have earned money from the gem store and thus could have a lower price. I brought up the fact that WoW is earning way more money every single month and still have about that cost for expansions.
They are good, but they still need to earn money. They are a business, if they don’t earn enough money they will die. Simple as that.
It is also worth pointing out that it is fully possible to play the game without every paying anything other than the initial cost, which I would actually guess is what most people do.
GW2 follows a different revenue model than WoW.
WoW relies on subscriptions and expansions which are more like the old GW1 campaigns in their scope.
The problem for ANet in GW1 was the lack of sustained revenue, they relied on periodical campaign releases for money, and the cash shop came very very later on and even then it provided very little compared to what the gem store has now, but now that we have the gem store, ANet can space out its major releases much more than for GW1, because the gem store offers a continuous stream of funds rather than a burst of funds.
What this also allows ANet to do is distribute the revenue for any given content between the initial cost of the content itself (which would be rather low in comparison to other similar releases in the genre) and the cost of accompanying items in the gem store, a perfect example is the living world content and events like wintersday and halloween and such.
So comparing HOT to a WoW expansion would be very unfair and unrealistic, one expansion is not equal to another, the word “expansion” is meaningless in itself, what you want to look at is “relative scope”.
This continous stream of founds would be valid if it werent possible to buy gems with gold or get it for free each 5k ap chest you get.
And do we know that the gems that are bought with real money that those money then are infused into anet or are ncsoft just taking it as profits.
Why wow was brought up was you misstakenly thinking that having a cash shop should make expasions cheaper.
Then having cash shop and subscription that game should really just give away expasions for free but they are not they charge for that to.
Maybe you should go down to your local store and say they should give you food cheaper the more you buy becouse I mean they get more money the more food you buy.
The problem with the way Necromancers are going into the expansion is it’ll be far too easy for ANet to simply fill all the gaps and holes they’ve left untouched for 3 years with the specialization.
So while other classes get fun and exciting new toys to play with that expand the way their class is played, Necromancers get barely enough to bring the class up to where most of the other classes currently are and will likely be blown away by the other specializations.
PvP and PvE the class doesn’t do well in at all. In WvW it’s only useful because of the burst potential of wells. So even there, they don’t have much of an identity even though they’re part of the meta.
Even with the trait changes we’ve seen so far, nothing is changing. Power builds will be using the exact same specs they are now and they can’t even choose a third tree to go in because no other GM traits are worth taking. Condi builds (for some reason ANet honestly thinks there’s a difference between a condi build and a terror build?) are in the same boat with having no 3rd line to really invest in.
So what we’ve seen so far is the class hasn’t changed at all going into HOT. There’s too much ground to make up for a single specialization to compensate for. Especially when every other class is getting one too.
were have people seen all the new traits in the new lines or are you only going on the lines we have now with no changes?
You do know that traits will change get cut and merged much like the elementalist air trait line right?
They went over all of the trait changes last Friday on the twitch stream. It was like 5 hours long or something. They showed the current state (which doesn’t mean they’re final, I’ll admit that) of all traits for all classes.
To say the Necromancer’s changes were disappointing would be an understatement.
Oh I missed that will read up more
Edit
On a side note did they say anything about fixing the skills that dont work under water flesh golem comes to mind.
(edited by Linken.6345)
I’m failing to see the connection. If someone is using a rig that is so fickle that a small visual/mechanical update would cause issue, then it wouldn’t be able to play gw2 at a functional frame rate.
A little visual update X 10 or 100 player become big for me..
and you will still have the ability to play on low settings so no change there. Next
$39,99 – $59,99 seems like a likely price range for standard edition.
This is wildly expensive for an expansion pack that -in contrast to the base game- provides a fraction of the content.
Also considering that ANet had the gem store from the get go this allows them to drop xpac price much more than a full game.
Yea you mean like wow with subscription and a cash shop for mounts pets name changes etc have their expansions at a low price?

think it was in the tentonhammer article were they stated it was the first of 3 spcializations they would release now so yes and no is the answer.
yea you can just add afew clicks with enter to get white lines that wont show
Have they said how new weapons will interact with elite specializations?
Will I be able to use shield on mesmer and mix it in to any weapon set? Or only mixed in w any weapon set as long as chronomancer elite spec is part of the build?
Since its granted for elite spec it will have to be in build yes
Whats the problem with a physical note pad and a pen to write down your build specs and have close at hand? kitten todays people are so lazy
Feature was already in first game so it’s logic to demand same feature in this game. Especially when you can change builds between fights.
Even if the first game was not a mmorpg?
Whats the problem with a physical note pad and a pen to write down your build specs and have close at hand? kitten todays people are so lazy
if you read your stress test email it says you wont get into upcomming betas
it is repeated yes and they said they would like to implement it in the future sometime but not working on it am
why should only the revenant get a special never used before weapon?

rather they just use a existing weapon in a special way alike they already do with hammer and hopefully melee staff.
Yea I have no problem with the information we have at this time thank you.
