No skip option for living world season 2 Im afraid and I guess the same for hot story.
This is a post that really is meant to outline my impressions I’ve come to from Heart of Thorns.
First Impressions:
- Open World
Very early on I loved this expansion. I found myself grouping a lot in Open World. This was both with Guildies and really anyone I encountered. I loved this as it brought out a lot of missing socializing that had long since died from the game.
- Exploration
The exploration was good. There was a lot to do for the first 96 levels of Mastery or so, but by 41 that began to taper off hard.
- Challenging Encounters for the Post-80 Experience
Most of the Heart of Thorns creatures were pretty lethal compared to Central Tyria forcing most of us to group in order to get through them.Later Impressions:
- “There’s really nothing to do.”
- The Mastery System isn’t that great.
- Auric Basin is 1/4 the size it appears because Tarir is massive, but useless
- There are 3.1 maps because of the reason above rather than 4.
- The fourth map, Dragon Stand, is really only a map if there are people doing the Map. Otherwise it gets halved.
- For the reason above we now only have 2.6 maps.
- I really don’t feel the need, desire, nor compulsion via any ‘fun’ with it to go on leveling much more than level 137 in Masteries… and that IF and ONLY IF I take my sweet time getting there because honestly… 80 levels was too much to start with. 160 some more doesn’t strike me as fun in the least since the content to do it from I don’t accomplish. I have to give myself over to the carrot-on-a-stick experience of Achievements rather than Exploring or defeating some enemy. And achievements are Story Mode. Not just getting done with story, but doing a whole block of achievements that are annoying little nick-nack mechanics I couldn’t care less about. Basically, 1/5th of the Mastery System is FUN. The rest of it is a pointless shameful grind that’s degrading and just a lot of annoying content most of us want nothing to do with.
The good news is most of the masteries after level 96 or so are just vanity fair stuff that really doesn’t add a lot more to the gaming experience. Unfortunately you have to have gone the right direction to get there. If you went after all Exalted Mastery for some reason then you’re looking at 160 some levels of Masteries before you can get on with gaming.
- The Ascended Armor nerf + Dungeon nerf = no Ascended Armor
Ascended Armor can be gotten only if a player devotes all of their time farming Chests in Open World for Empyreal Shards and then some more months farming Ore. That’s for just one Ascended Set. Legendary weapons are easier AND cheaper than this.
- Raids are the only content giving any rewards.
Fractals being made so that you do one Fractal and then level up your personal level was a great idea. Removing the Ascended Droprate from its already Nerfed point MARGINALIZED HALF YOUR PLAYER BASE!!!!!!!!Pretty much the Ascended Armor situation + raids has transformed Guild Wars 2 from being an Open World game into another Level and Gear Grind treadmill.
You may have just killed this game Anet. Your game WAS Open World, WvW, PvP, and NOT FORCING us on a permanent Gear and Level grind. That’s very close to dead now. When it goes you’ll have killed the only thing your game was selling. So think very hard about that.
Oh your done less then a month since release?
Maybe the content they spent over a year on wasent meant to be rushed in 29 days OP have you considered that maybe your not doing it as intended?

Trails of atlantis failed for a totaly other reason OP , mythic forced realm vs realm guys into pve best in slot item hunts or they wouldent be able to compete in dark age of camelot.

what story are you talking about personal, living world season 2 or hot?
The raid was designed for organized groups of highly experienced and geared players to have a challenge. Anyone who complains about the raid being inaccessible is missing the point.
Oh. That so? Then let that sort of content be developed in future(assuming there is one)with the funds coming only from that percent of the player base. Then see how good it is.
The folks left setting out in the cold here have a right to feel cheated- seeing as how the moneys they’ve invested into the game – capital which should have been earmarked in this expansion to keep them happy, playing, and paying through gem store purchases- has been spent on something they won’t be able to participate in due to either limited time or to their being excluded from participating due to changes in the culture made not only to appease that small percent, but then through the elitism subsequently introduced by that small percent.
It’s about priorities and Anet doesn’t seem to have a sound set of them at the moment.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for letting players play how they want, but robbing Peter to pay Paul wasn’t a good way to go here-(dungeons, fractals, wvw etc.) particularly now that Paul’s(raiders/megaguilds) have begun rubbing Peter’s(everybody else) nose in it and the thieves(Anet)just look on and laugh whilst still within earshot.
Someone here a few weeks back said roughly, ‘this(HoT) is how a game company commits suicide.’ I was on the fence back then, but as the weeks have passed I’ve slowly come around to that point of view myself.
Maybe these people should have been a informed consumers and read the blogposts about how the game would be more challengeing and that raids ( the horror we will get more then one/sarcasm off) would be getting into the game, or wait untill release to see what changed.
To clarify I’ve been playing for over a year and a bit, have 4 legendary weapons and put in over 3k hours into this game. This topic isnt just about the legendary weapons but more about the actual manifesto for the direction of the game. Why has the no grind policy been thrown out the window?
It havent they just noticed oh kitten people need stuff to do or they wont play our game.

I really love the idea of the legendary journey. I love the idea to work for something that I really want, but, now that we have that great idea of the journey, that show us a little story of that weapon maybe? Make us beat all the hell that you can throw at us in the game, painful raids, impossible meta events, a really large and fun collection to complete, achievements through all the world and then reduce the amount of materials, I know, is crafting a weapon, just be more reasonable with the craft part and the gold that we have to invest in exchange.
Casuals will choose to collect gold in every way they can to buy it. Me, even if I had the money to buy it, I’ll always choose the journey, but just if is reasonable, now is almost impossible mainly for the craft part that I don’t enjoy very much.
Just remember, a legendary is not something that you really need. Is more a symbol of your time and effort invested in the game or that you are a successful person in real life capable of pay a lot of money and use it for gold in the game.
Doing the journey, crafting by yourself or buying it in the market, is doesn’t matter, you have to put effort in something, in one way or another to complete it. Just please Anet, we love the game, there’s a lot of thing to do beside the legendary for us to stay, don’t give us for free the legendary, make us PLAY the game to get it, no just transform us into chinese farmers

And thats what we have now play the game and you will get your legendary.
Dont force your self to farm just play in all the zones of this wonderful game and in time you will just have the materials you need by just doing your journey.
I just wish GW2 did some player housing. Wildstar did it.

Yea its a good change considering the almost a year of content drought we had before it.
No you heard wrong you could never get a discount on hot.
If you had the game before jan 25 2015 or bought from other retailer then the gw2 homepage.
You could get 1 character slot extra for each edition of 1 base 2 deluxe 2 ultimate.
Or if you bought through homepage after 25 of jan 2015 then you could get refunded base game and buy hot instead.
Both these things ended when expansion launched, so if you want it cheaper wait a year or two is my recommendation.
MMO == many people online in the same game at once, not many people required to even play.
I’ll say it again: this has caused ANet to lose potential customers. My friends will no longer be relocating here because the 4 of us can’t do anything useful as a guild with the HoT changes.

We were glad to hear about the free accounts, because we had friends who didn’t have the game and this was going to give them access to our world.
The problem now is, that they don’t need to buy the game, as they are unlimited in their free to play version. They found out that they don’t need the trade market to get exotic armour, they only need Karma so now they go jumping from boss to boss leeching karma. They are not bothered with quests or stories all they do is come for their leeching sessions and off they go. That is really annoying, we think they should be limited or given a free trial expiracy time. Their money and Karma storage should be limited. It is not really fair on the paying players.
They already got enough restrictions and cant enter the expansion without buying.
If they are content with being shut out of tradepost map chat whispers to 99% of the people only 3 instead of 5 up to 8 bag slots, cant send anything (and you ofcourse shouldent send any gold/items to them just to boost their leeching in your eyes right).
Then why should you wish more on them, just so they wont play at all?

If you could buy relic items that did even 1% more damage then ascended/legendary then yes it would be pay to win, but noone can do that.Pay to win does not need to be directed to combat related stuffs.
In GW2, since there’re no vertical progression, legendary itself is the symbol of the winner. The heavy emphasis of gem store items and the lack of new items acquirable in game further enhance this stance.
In GW2, cosmetic = end-game contents. So if gold can get you 95% of legendary weapon, then it’s a form of pay to win.
No mate its not, me ingame playing can get me the legendary without paying any more cash then buying the game so its not pay to win.
Its pay to not play and if your doing that then maybe its time to think if you want to play at all.

Long term goal involving roaming in low level boring, threatless zones for 100 hours, logging woods 24/7, Meaning you’d never get the materials yourself by playing real contents such as HoT maps, raids, fractals, WvW, PvP if you don’t buy them.
There goes the immersion and long-term goal.
I rather do raid100 times than this.
Want more danger, while logging wood? Roam on the wvw maps, they have all the wood nodes you need.
Rather run raids? Then do so and buy the wood from your rewards.

After you complete Precursor by spending 2000g, you still have to spend another 3000g for other legendary materials.

The girl designer who talked in the live show is now my least favorite developer of all time.
Basically Anet still live in their ivory tower, never log on to their game to see the market for themselves. They ask for enormous material sink without changing the crafting component from 3~4 back to 2, without adding extra ways to optain t2~t4 materials to increase the supply.
How do you know it’ll be 2,000G? It’s also in line with how the other popular legendary weapons were prior to the announcement of HoT. You have to realize that there’s very high demand for those materials so what you see the precursor worth now won’t be the same once things settle back down.

100 Spirit woods, excluding everything else, is 1500g on TP alrdy.
Other materials that require lots and LOTS of extra woods are not exactly free either.And there’s no-way market will back down when Devs promises to release 3 new legendaries every 3 months, and all of them are competing for Spirit Woods and Deldrimor Steel Ingots.
The only way to fix this is fix the crafting component, fix the recipe for precursors, and add more ways of getting low tier materials other than playing in low level zones.
But we all know it’d take another 3 years until Anet does this.
People who’re clueless, who’re not even trying to craft one, who’re not even doing any research about this matter should really stop talking / defending Anet because they do not know what they’re talking about at all.
Math? How about you link the recipes for the other parts. That’s what I was getting at. Also, spiritwood is 11G to make so that’s 1,100. You claim I’m clueless except you keep using the sell order price for the time-gated item to inflated the price so your argument appears to be stronger. I’m fully aware of what the actual costs are from what has been released so far.
Except if you sell your spiritwood it’d worth 1500g, so using Sell order is ofc the right value.

Yeah, there’s a very high demand for the materials because everyone is going for legendaries and I believe guild banks require some of them too. So time-gated materials will be selling at a premium and players make the choice to pay that much because they don’t want to wait and craft those materials themselves. Yes, you can sell the spiritwood planks but selling them will not put you any closer to the new HoT legendaries.
There’s a really high demand for materials BECAUSE Anet put all the resources in the same bracket, etc, guild hall, old precursors, new precursors. They do not diversify the material at all, while asking for huge material sink, making demand sky-high, while not addressing the supply issue a single bit.
This inflation is totally forseeable, and Anet still CHOOSE to do it regardless. This is still 100% Anet’s fault and oversight. It’s like a fail government who has no idea what they’re doing, printing too much money without considering the price level, workers’ income and GDP, and inflation, and doom their own country.
Yea becouse absolutely noone can go to lower zones and gather materials by mobs material bags or harvesting.

Yes OP it might be implemented in every map from now going forward from hot so more then 4 maps over time.
But to your question no it wont be going into old maps they werent built for it.
I dont have a complaint about the Balls, they’re not that hard to get.
The Stabilizing Matrices though.. Im not going to have anywhere near enough for Unbound, even after completing the collection. Ive already salvaged most of my rings for the first two backpieces.
Then do fractal section dailys everyday and get new matrixes + hopefully rings for even more of them mate
The item aint to be made easily anyhow.
DPS meter is absolutely crucial, if someone isn’t putting the effort needed to beat the encounter they need to be gkicked and blacklisted from future runs.
Failure is not an option and can’t be ignored.
And this is exactly why it shouldent be implemented.
Since people wouldent be given time to improve and instantly guild kicked black listed by alot of people.

if you have done everything you should have enough mps to finish all core tyria lines.
I havent completed everything only 4 of the s2 stories so 4 points from there.
havent finished any of the collection/ rare collection, silverwaste, explorer, fasion, bosses ( 4 easy there just get into a organised group 1 hour before spawn for tri wurm 3 days + karka queen and you got the 4 I got from season 2 stories)
And I still got 49 of 49 mastery points in core tyria
if 3 is asking about the boss enrage timer then yes its always on you cant disable it.
The answer to your question is No they cant help since they dont have heart of thorns expansion as free to players or even vanilla game buyers were the actual hall need to be recaptured.
As maniamsmart said they can enter it after you other guys have claimed it tho.
Still the same question remains are there enough aussies to fill up 3 servers so you can wvw against eachother?
Not to mention you will only be able to spvp and tradepost with those 2 other servers aswell.

The best of resolving this was suggested over 3 years ago, and it’s a simple fix than the above.
Simply de-couple the server you WvW for from the server you PvE on. You can then use the existing character transfer mechanic to move your character to any server you wish. Charge gems to move your WvW server to maintain WvW integrity and give a pop up message saying your may get lag is you move cross region.
Job done.
So your asking anet to do jobb for free when moving chars from na data center to eu data center?
Noone will do stuff for free mate.
You dont have to change pve server on the same data center ever.

If you can’t be bothered to play silverwastes, gather materials, play halloween (or other events), do boss events, etc. : in short, play the game. No wonder you are having gold issues. As is one can easily farm 100 gold in 2-4 hours without trading post flipping or other fancy stuff. Just sell your loot on the trading post, done.

removing the time gate would do nothing other than speed up the process of crafting an old item that many people already have..
there is no reason why older items like this should still be time gated..
you still have to put in the work and it would more than likely encourage people to buy from the TP.. essentially giving these items more value as people are more likely going to buy them when they are soo close to finishing their desired item..Time gates exist purely to prevent people completing new content too quickly and getting bored and having nothing to do.. that’s why Anet add them to the game
but after several months.. to years later those time gates are completely pointless and do nothing but turn people off those Items..Why bother going after Mawdry now when you could be going after the Fractal backpack or the legendary backpack or any other ascended class backpack

and since said character is saved on two dif data senters what happens when a rare drop happens in the na server that you wont then have on the eu server mate?

That’s a bad comparison. More accurate would be “is not hot” on freshly brewed coffee cup. In-game tooltips read that you can craft them on all weapon-crafting disciplines. But you can’t. The information is wrong. Simple as that. And if only tooltip was wrong then you shouldn’t be able to learn the recipe in the first place.

If people cant understand that the weapons they have been crafting before need the same craft to be crafted in the future.
Is the same people who dont understand that coffie should be hot when brewed.I’m not talking about complete weapons. Sure you can’t craft all weapons on artificer/weaponsmith or huntsman but what you buying is recipe for “Core” of specific weapon. Do you even know what are auric weapons and how to craft them? Seems not.
Furthermore I can’t fathom why are you defending AN on this matter. It’s surely a bug. One of many in HoT. It should be fixed one way or another…
But its not a bug the base material can be made by all 3 crafting disciplines, people need to think what their finished product come from and only use the recipie on those crafting disciplines.

I believe it lists all three because the recipe also teaches you Auric Ingot smelting.
