Moving to remove dungeons?

Not “remove” dungeons, but rather reduce the “CoF1&3 15kAP Ascended or kick” farm. Or dungeon-gold farming in general. A big payout on dungeons adds money to the economy, more than is appropriate to maintain its health.

Rather, it’s better to reward materials and items with low vendor value. Players sell on the market to other players, and that filters out money via trading fees. With the map rewards coming, even those prices should be relatively in control, once the upshot in demand bases out.

Dungeon runs might remain the fastest way to get the unique exotics, but it’s old, stale content that is no longer supported, and it seems wise to aim away from them as a part of the reward structure.

I don’t know anyone that farms dungeons for gold, but if they do it, they’re not really that smart i have to say, sure for tokens, kinda, but for gold?
The only “good” gold reward is the 24h gated one, after that, 20s is peanuts. You earn tons more from FGS champ farm or simply doing silverwastes chains, dry top buried chests, World boss trains.. Honestly, anything gives your more money for your time than repeating a dungeon twice in a day.

You know it can also be called a farm if you do every dungeon path of all the dungeons a day right?

4 Questions for Anet about Masteries and WvW

I have heard/read/seen very little about whether there is any connection between Mastery Tracks/Points and WvW play and I have a few clarifying questions about it.

That’s because masteries are a PvE thing.

1. Will we be able to train any Mastery Tracks by playing WvW as a level 80?
For example: training the Legendary Precursor Crafting Mastery. It would be grossly negligent and hugely disappointing if this track was unaffected by WvW play.

Unknown at this time. However, I think it’s likely that it will be possible to train core tyria masteries in WvW.

2. Will we be able to earn any Master Points in WvW?
For example: would be rather odd if WvWers could train, say the Precursor Crafting masteries, but not earn mastery points to unlock them.

Unknown, though considering masteries are a PvE thing I think it is unlikely.

3. What Masteries will and won’t work in WvW?
For example: will Advanced Logistics from the Pact Commander track work? I heard a passing loose reference to it working in WvW during one of the twitch casts, but no real details. (Obviously the HoT masteries won’t work, as those are specific to the new content).

Advanced Logistics is literally the only one that could potentially work in WvW. Coincidentially it is also the only one Anet talked about in relation to WvW. I can’t remember what they said about it though.

4. Will there be any WvW only Mastery tracks?
I don’t personally see the need for it, as we have the WxP ranks and abilities. But I figured I’d ask anyways because it could be really fun and rewarding.

No. WvW has it’s own progression system which already sort-of functions like the mastery system. Besides, we already know exactly which masteries we will get (at the release of HoT anyway).

Since its in the mists Id say none of the masteries excluding fractals should work, but then you have to be able to train that one in spvp aswell since they all share the mists and i dubt that will be implemented

Bosses, especially last, was surely faster than anything in vanilla, but still not THAT fast to receive massive harm from confusion. Still a nice pace, tho

I played since headstart and have 240% magic find, I’m in the capped zone now: 30k luck for +1%

I do think MF does help, but It’s not “a guaranteed exotic on each dungeon path”
I do get more rare’s though…

I have salvaged some ecto’s during crafting but not to gain luck… Mostly cause I run out of crystaline dust…. If you need 20 or 30 dust you’ll not get +1% at the amounts I need now. People at max luck: at the moment you’re out of luck….

In the same boat here played since head start with a roughly 2 months break, computer breaking down in for repair then dident feel the urge right away, when comp returned at 182 atm

There already is a way to burn it right click destroy volia I fixed it for you nothing had to be added either.

Anet added ways to get rid of all the extra Bloodstone Dust, empyreal fragments, candy corn , dragonite ore and Karma, so It’s an reasonable request.

Well to be fair s/he did ask for anything not a item to eat it and get bags from specifically.

Not at the moment, but nothing is off the table as usual.
But I think they would rather have you buy another character slot and remake your character.
Since they dont know how or even if said feature will ever make it into the game.

If there were coming new fractals ( anets 5 man content going forward)
It would have been spoken about as one of the major features, instead we got increase cap from 50-100 and each level is 1 of the before 3 fractals + boss fractal.

So no new fractals, just the same split up 1 each in 1-100 instead of random of 4 each 1-50

Veteran players are awarded the free character slot because new players are getting the core game for free. A character slot is only $10 whereas the game is $50. New players are already receiving more benefits than veteran players. Don’t be greedy, unless you want anet to make you buy the core game, which you are playing on for free now, for $50 just for the character slot (which can be bought with $10) that you so dearly want.

How am I being greedy? I get absolutely nothing for free. You should read the thread before commenting.

All I can say is, check with support they can see when you last loged in and if you havent been playing during the time limit for getting the refund, maybe you could get one anyway. ( since you were clearly eligable for it)

Puging is how I keep dungeons fresh, people saying dungeons are easy try doing ac burrows p1 as lone 80 guardian with 4 30-33s thats hard but also alot of fun when you see the new players learning each wipe then come together and completing the encounter

It just occurred to me. They will have to redo the dailies when HoT arrived, on 2 grounds. One is the PvP dailies will need to include the Revenant. The other is to include the new maps for the dailies by region. Maybe they’ll take the opportunity to change other things as well.

You dont think revenant will take the spot of the engi in one of the dailies since some days engi can get 2 daily class done with 1 match win.

It might. But they will still have to redo it by that much. And remember, we will have new map areas also that dailies can be set for.

But will they include Daily areas that core-only and Play4Free players can not access? I wonder.

Thats a consideration. But they might also consider it an additional inducement to buy the expansion.

Or we will get our dailies depending on what we have got hot? get hot area´s as daily only if a lvl 80 is on account(if not same as core game people).

@Todd I’d usually agree, but you are not “test-driving” the game before buying it. I guess that was the original idea, but then they should have restricted the game in some meaningful way instead of creating some weird arbitrary barrier that doesn’t matter except if you want to play cooperatively (basically the meat of the game).

The help page for free accounts states that the only real limitation on free accounts is the mailing system/guild bank (The way to exchange items, probably to prevent item farms/sales where a single player farms a lot of items through multiple free accounts) and the map chat (probably to prevent spam from free accounts). Also, a lot of the gem stuff is limited for free accounts, which I don’t really understand. If you don’t want the money of the free account players, then okay.

But I digress. It’s a free-players limitation and I understand it’s purpose, so there is no point in fighting it. Thanks for your input though, appreciate it

And @Inculpatus cedo, Thanks. I just feel like there is a disconnect between “Let’s make all players cooperate” and “No, wait, you can’t really help other players in the open world until you fight higher level monsters/go raiding”.

Ofcourse you can help them stay around and kill monsters with them that will advance their heart and you would still be doing stuff.

How so? “When they said that they’ll give access to unavailable weapons for classes with feature/content pack I was really hyped.” It was loong before HoT or LS2.

Yes but they never stated that you would be able to wield 2 of those unavailable weapons at once.

if anything needs increasing is the ammount of ores per node 3 from normal veins and 10 from rich is meh

If anything needs changing it’s the value of copper, silver and gold. They are virtually worthless and need more sinks in the game to drive demand and thus value up. Maybe level 500 Jeweler will do this someday but as it stands right now the last thing the economy needs is more copper, silver and gold on the market.

Havent you heard we get electrium ingot in the expansion, so prices for 2 out of 3 should go up.

To be honest, I was not referencing promoting. Simply selling copper for gold. Some profit there.

A once per account black lion key is a rather underwhelming announcement.
It’s a rather insignificant item when you can only get it once per account I think.
So my suggestion is that black lion key shards could be implemented.
X number of shards gives 1 black lion key.
Shards could be distributed in the pvp reward tracks (and the rest of the world) to give players that little extra sometimes.

The reason for shards rather than keys would be that the low droprate needed for a key would mean that there is no progression. It’s just pure RNG. Nothing to work for, and that’s rather boring.
With shards, you could guarantee a shard for each time you complete a pvp reward track and through that, let people have their progression while still maintaining the rarity of the keys.

I don’t really see a specific need to include the keys as drops in the game at all to be honest, as they are buyable through the gem store for gold-bought gems, but ANet seem to want to have it as a rare reward once in a while and even make news about it, so I present this as an alternative, repeatable, yet rare way of doing it.
One-shots are pointless for insignificant consumable items, but rare repeatables of said consumable items are more interesting and make for better announcements according to me.

Arent there a currency already in the game called black lion ticket scraps, why add a shard all of a sudden?

And speedyfox you say that games like TERA are a lot more fair, it just show how ignorant you are. In TERA if you dont spend money its just almost impossible to get an item to +15, and a +15 item just boost your damage by an insane margin, so yeah not p2w at all, and you can spend real money to buy cash itens sell, and buy all the top itens, really fair.

GW2 just follow GW1 bussines model, its by far the less p2w game out there. All other you need to pay a monthly fee or if its f2p there dozen of things you can spend cash that boost you ( premiun account its the most common) all the things you dont see here. So just quit gw2, its not f2p anyway, not p2w, its just b2p as it always has been

I think the problem it is not the TERA, the problem is you it is not difficult to place an item + 15 it just takes time, everything that has in TERA store has in GW2 store too, items to boost xp, karma, gold , items to change appearance, clothing, name, endless tools to gather materials, items to increase space in the inventory etc .., you are so blind trying to defend this game that you do not even sees the the cash shop, but I’m not complaining about the GW2 store I agree that they have to make money somehow, I’m complaining that they are forcing you to buy the new expansion to gain access to new skills, I will not waste my time with you I’m sure everyone who argue at least already bought the expansion and will try to defend it no matter how.

I havent bought the expansion but you sir/mam are wrong its totaly ok to charge for new skill lines/side grades to the existing classes, guild halls, raids, new maps, totaly new systems like the mastery system etc ( what I dont want them doing is start cranking out new elite specs and sell them for 10$ a pop)

Wow, still the same arguments, well I’ll admit I skimmed after my last posts.

Here’s some easy feedback:
I would totally buy HoT if I could buy it with Gems, because I could, in theory, save up gold, convert to gems and give myself a “discount”.
I’d probably end up buying 50% of the gems with cash, and trading gold for the rest.

This would work because it really doesn’t matter who buys the gems, gems are money Anet and NCsoft already have.

And you already answered yourself why that wont happen, its money they already have they want new money.

That is exactly what I was getting at, Xorgith. The game seems to focus on solo players being able to do “group activities” without actually having to group with anyone.

And to Linken: I can see that becoming a thing, sadly. Though I would argue that the mailing system allows for that to happen as well, yet it is still in the game. I kinda just want to be able to mail the player in front of me an item, essentially.

Yes but then they have to either buy more accounts most normal players wont do tha, I would guess organised groups that hack credit cards/accounts would for example.

the gifting another player could be abused by bots, lets say someone run 10-15 bots and 5 of those find a precursor.

They then gift it to a paid account that havent done any botting and are on another network entierly, said botters then sell precursors gain alot of money and can again sell the coin to cheap players.

It silly for anyone or the Dev’s to expect all the players to conform in a way/ways they may not want too with the upcoming changes and not expect players to show resistance. United Sates of America was NOT founded by yes people as they refused to conform to the British rule of thumb. Once the expansion hits there will be more people like me speaking up soon after wards.

Cant say I agree with any of said points but I agree to dissagree.
Point 1
Game should have something to strive for legendary and in sence ascended is that, Its good that crafting are usefull in this game most others its just tacked on and you get the best gear from raids or dungeons.

P2 Mounts aint needed with the waypoint system if you want to enjoy the scenery why not walk or run?

P3 Third party addons, why would you want stuff to clutter up your screen cant you survive without said addon that say out of the fire or boss do this attack block now?

P4 alot of people play this game exatly becouse it dont force the trinity and there is a multitude of games out there that do so play one of those?

If you want to kill all monsters you are free to do so any one of them could drop a precursor for ya.

This happens in at least 95% of the time in every single PUG I join, the worst is ARAH.

Something tells me that if any 1 of us were to join you with 3 other pugs, that night somehow this “at least 95%” would magically go to pretty much 0%. Extreme hyperboles like this sentence make your entire post’s legitimacy come into question.

Ofcourse not obviously that 1 or 6 or 25 hours you played with s/he and they dident get kicked once was in the 5% bracket.

I did a pug map few days ago that burned like half his HP bar in one burn phase and defense HP bars barely budged at all.

That is not possible since you can only burn down from 75-50 then 50-25 then 25-0

That said did Teq today 2½ hours ago joined map 10 mins before and had no problem with downing him.

1 is alone = not a guild
2 is company = not a guild
3 is a crowd = a guild in anets eyes.

I for one would have gone higher but anet went as small as feasable when scaling said missions.

this might have something to do with my experience I am on est and were running them between my hours of 10am-2:30pm. I am hestitant to blame all of it on my timing as I said I was watching the dungeons lfg tool and saw other groups forming rather rapidly so long as they were “zerk only speed runs”

And Im on Eu and here all welcome groups fill up faster (hence you hardly see any and have to start you own) then the zerkers since they are less specific. No clue how the dungeon scene is over on Na.

Then you ask to be helped first then you dont log off and help them in return thats how trust is built and you got your buddies. And to route out the bad eggs block and ignore or start a homepage were trusted guilds are marked and bad eggs are marked nothing against that.

Edit I would be willing to do it for one of my bank guilds for example and im a 1 person guild but also on a bigger social guild ( unsure if we can earn favor for more then 1 guild at the time the same week tho)

So join a casual guild with no requirements, and profit? You seem to think that joining a guild means having to do something. That’s not always the case.

Casual guilds are social organizations. There are even guilds made of people who solo. I don’t know what guilds you’ve been in, but you’re probably picked the wrong ones.

How does joining a casual guild solve one issue that I have is to earn Favor for my guild so I can to contribute on my own with +5 banners, buffs and other bonuses I have access to? If I join a said guild as to your suggestion I would just get player rewards and the favor goes to said guild thus my problem.

We really don’t know how the credit systems will work yet if two or more guilds can team up and do a missions together, without members need to rep a guild other than their main one. If it is then no issue here! If its not just wait till the 23rd and after there will be more threads and post on this issue!

Anet recognizes there are some issues they trying to fix as they see it from their side. “Missions for All” is something we want to achieve in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns.:

Well since you have to be 3 people to earn favor and there are so many guilds out there of 1-2 people find another rep each others guild and earn that favor for each guild.

Ok so for Revenant you would like to see more diversity, the ability to choose utilities and create a unique build. That’s reasonable, I don’t think it’s going to happen right away but certainly something to question in the future once the smoke of release clears.

Raids you would like to see a LFR (Looking for Raid) type of system similar to how a player queues up for PvP and have that system find your team based on the class roles that are needed ? Which could be a valuable tool so long as difficulty levels are not affected. You do realize though with a tool such as this you are going to get random strangers some of which you may not see eye to eye with in respect to their … mannerisms.

All in all I think both are not bad ideas, why did it take us 3 pages to reach this simple conclusion.

You’re not asking for raids to be easier just a more simplistic way to enter/organize a group to enjoy the content. Am I correct in assuming this is a good summary of what you’re asking for ?

In a way s/he is asking for them to be easier since “every player/every class/every build accepted everytime” are suposed to be able to lfr and the raid must be tune for that.

s/he did say that the lfr should pair people to be able to do it so if you need 1 more berserker and the only ones queing are soldiers, clerics and zealots. Tough luck be prepared to que for hours. ( the reason they made healers and tank not required is the whole point they went with soft trinity at all so people shouldent have to wait for a specific person, I dont see them changing that now)

May I ask what your requirment/dungeon were when you waited for hours and end without getting groups filled in lfg? If it was arah I can understand it not many pug that
one.

I done all welcome groups on all but arah and only time I wait longer then 15 mins are during the night at 2am-5am my time.
