@OP: GW2 isnt an Asia Grind MMO, so there is a reason why it might feel like its no achievment leveling to 80 if you come from FFXI.

For some people you dont even have to level to do the things you love in this game, like sPvP and such. PvE wasnt the main point of the game either, its a very PvP heavy game, so in order for people to get there, leveling was just a minor part of the game.

FFXI didnt have much except PvE, a big reason I never bothered with it. Well that and being an absolute grindfest.

To me the leveling is just long enough in this game, its entertaining enough and give you a good possibility to level other toons. The only thing I miss in this game is the thrill of WPvP while leveling.

Grinding doesnt equal hard. It just equals boring. Freedom on the other hand is a different thing. This game has so many paths you can take to reach 80, it’s all decided by the player.

If you enjoy Asia Grind MMOs then this isnt the game for you.

Even though there’s a ton of grind in this game? -_- very contradicting statement, i actually agree about multiple paths you stated, i remember mentioning the same thing myself to a friend, until i realized every mob/zone in this game is exactly the same with a different skin, once you learn the mechanics of the game it becomes a snoozefest.

If you aren’t into pvp, exploration, collecting cosmetic items or dungeons but rather have focus on levels and grind then this is the wrong game. Sure there’s some optional grind there but that’s the thing it’s optional. You make your own fun in this game using what is there, you aren’t told that you ‘need this or that’.

The PvP and exploration are so basic though. There is next to no customization for the classes and exploring the world isn’t even exploring. It’s a checklist on a map. It’s not adventurous, it’s like going to a theme park.

agreed, i quit for a week after getting 100% because it drained all the enthusiasm out of me, the pain isn’t worth it because PvE is so mind numbingly easy, i will never play PvE in guildwars 2 again even if they release new content (assuming i come back, which i might for my guild), renown hearts should never have been apart of this game imo as well as part of world complete.

The problem with this game is that good players have to make up for crappy casual players i.e babysit, but as we all know all the ‘hard’ content like champions that one hit you and don’t telegraph properly aren’t soloable at all and you’re ‘forced’ to group up with drones who don’t even make decent meat-shields, i call for solo content too OP because i’m tired of playing babysit wars 2.

One of the biggest annoyances I have with many of the posts upset with ArenaNet, is that they do not even know what the word LIE means.

Even IF way back when, they said something would work one way and now it doesn’t, it does NOT mean you were lied to.

There is one thing a company can do to instantly lose all respect in my eyes and that is lie. I don’t like being lied to.

Ascended was planned all along? I don’t remember that part of it. I remember, “It was not specifically designed before launch. However the concept of progression rewards with a shallow curve bridging other rewards was. Hope that makes sense.” Vague as kitten in some respects, but clear in others. There was always going to be some vertical progression in the game (there were 5 tiers of level 80 gear, now there are 6), but that statement tells me that the current implementation of Ascended gear was not intended all along.

If you want to hang onto the idea that they lied, I cannot stop you, but it might be better to look at all the facts after a while, once their ideas for making the new gear more accessible are out, and people have cooled down.

Just quoting this again to make sure the OP gets the message that he’s wrong. This statement explicitly states that the rarest items (ascended) are not more powerful than other items (yes, they are).

Actually, the rarest items are legendaries, and those will not be more powerful than Ascended will be. Of course, we took that gap to be between Exotic and Legendary. You can give them a chance to fix the Ascended accessibility, or you can uninstall and never give ANet the time of day, again. The first option might result in your being able to enjoy playing a game you are obviously passionate about. The second will mean you won’t, but you’ll get to be “right” about how ANet “betrayed” you.

Aside from my mistake, though, group content is just a nice way of saying that the game is easy for people who can’t play to save their lives, and impossible for those who would like to.

I’m wondering if my excitement for this title was misplaced as well.

These aren’t just bad luck or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. There’s no such thing as a completely random loot table algorithm, people suggesting that really don’t know the inner workings of mathematics in their current state. Mathematically, we have been unable to produce an equation that is completely randomized and they definitely do not use such algorithms in games like these, so when it comes to loot there is always a manipulation of +-. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know what they are talking about.

Secondly, their silence is either on purpose because they know they did something wrong, on purpose because they made a huge boo boo in manipulating the loot tables and don’t want to confirm it for the public with an apology, or on purpose because they did it to actually make people buy more gold directly from them with the gems. All three are wrong, we need an answer so we can get it resolved and ignoring it won’t make it go away. It’s far too wide spread a problem. My husband hasn’t seen a single unid dye since they made this change and all he gets are whites while leveling his ranger.

And finally, why is it that we can’t get word on what’s happening with the glaring problems in classes like Engineers for example? I follow the devs forums all the time and have seen nothing regarding engineer bugs misses and kit’s underpowered issues at all.

Um, what do you think? This is a Pay to Win game. NO SUBS. They intentionally messed with the drop table to MAKE YOU GO TO SPEND RL MONEY. It’s a dirty and cheap thing to do but this is NCSoft and ANet after all… Let’s not act surprised. Blizz is notorious for that with D3 until it majorly backfired in their faces. We should know by now all of they filthy tactics to make you spend money. It will eventually backfire on them as ppl will just leave and tell others not to spend money on this game. It will end up LIKE ALL OF THE REST OF THEIR FAILURES. Look at Tera Online – Tera who Yep, these companies haven’t learned yet, due to pure corporate greed, that if you screw over the players – you’re going down faster than a kitten down the toilet…

I don’t think that you know what pay to win means or have ever even seen a single pay to win game. I have 2 level 80s with full exotics, not a single cent was spent on gems and no I did not grind. All I did was collect everything on my way trough the zones and increase my magic find. Both money and tier 6 items are not a problem to me. On top of that I never actually needed the best gear tier to be able to do dungeons and level 80 zones on my level 80. Where exactly did I need to pay to win?
Also Tera Online is doing quite well as an MMO.

Congratulations your gear is now obsolete, time to go grind some ascended gear, then the next tier after that all the way up to legendary armor

all to force an impatient crowd into cash shop and at this point as difficult as they have made it to make gold, let alone get decent drops, they are figuring you will either stay and pay or leave.

Every armor/weapon looks like crap in this game, i played TL2 for a couple of hours and looked awesome with crap gear. It’s because they want you to gold sink into gem store or legendary weapons so they can make $$$ – which is ofc why the made this game.

Play a guardian and faceroll everything or play Atlantica, i solod everything in atlantica all the way up to lvl130 and ironically the new shiny skins tactic to buy from gem store (keys) was originally done in atlantica, it’s called gambling.

Yep i haven’t played since the final kraka event because of the bugs, every new addition to the game just compiles them, I’ve reported the same bugs over and over and over from the beginning of the beta events and yet they still remain. It seems arena net only care’s about pumping content out than making a stable game.

Not even close anymore. The only exotic armor or weapons that are under 3g each are those with +condition damage, or maybe the odd MF piece. If you want Knight’s, Cleric’s or Berserker, be prepared to pay 3.5g and up.

Still amazingly cheap. Had 12 gold on my warrior before I hit 80…..

6 X 3.5g = 21 gold… better go grind that 9 gold bro

How about fixing the bugs like AC explorer path 2 and sometimes 1 or getting stuck in invisible walls in WvW EB or the stealth glitch in WvW or the swiftness not stacking duration properly or getting animation glitched randomly from skills or the number 5 ward on staff for guardian that animation lags you in the terrain when you try to move forward right after cast or the up and down lag that is consistent forever everywhere and the 2 end virtue traits for justice that don’t add hardly any extra damage Vs Critical damage line etc than adding crappy events “when it’s NOT ready”.

I would have rather no one get precursors simple as that, now i feel like a piece of kitten trying to farm gold for dusk when all i had to do was play 3 hours of lagfest which is normal in my case anywhere in the game, and have guaranteed success at exotic and a bumped 25% at precursor. I spent 3 grueling hours of my sunday to get a chance at that big chest and I would be furious if ANET gave that karka earring/bag to everyone that participated… That actually made all the time i spent WORTH IT.

The event was announced a long time ago and was specific about times. This game is supposed to be dynamic and not like all the others. There will be more events. I just hate the fact that I couldn’t even complete the event due to dc issues at the end, meanwhile I have a friend who completed the event twice, came in at the end of a third one and got all the rewards. He’s now quite happy with his 3 20 slotted bags and a friend of mine got a precursor as well.

I woke up early to do the last two “one time events”. The first being a cutscene and the second being a really laggy event. So this time I decided not to wake up super early to see the event and bam. It’s an event in which exotics/precursors/20 slotted bags were the reward…

^this, both events had crappy rewards and it was 4am my local time so i skipped the 3rd only to be kicked in the teeth. GG arenanet, i uninstalled Bugwars 2.

Yep you can drop a great-sword precursor in my mailbox too, no i wasn’t there, my fault i had to sleep seeing as it was 4am in the morning for me -_-. i wouldn’t mind 3 hours of unbelievable lag for guaranteed awesome loot Vs 6 months of grind.

At least your able to do it, 50% of the time the npc won’t talk to the ghost to start the last chain event which really aggravates me to no end, how about instead of pumping out crappy new content, you actually debug the friggin game first -_-. The End.

They should of merged WvW with PvE instead of having dumb static towers/keeps that you don’t give two hoots about, that way PvE would be worth playing instead of falling asleep at your keyboard and the outmanned buff wouldn’t be so one sided on a care bear PvE/bot server.
