Sure they “can”. However, do you guys see the drop rate for rares translating into “a lot more Ecto”?

Edit – By the way, for the record, I’m not complaining. I’m just wondering if the drop rate on rares in WvW is where Anet wants it to be. I’ve wondered this for awhile actually. I can practically roll my face across the keyboard in PvE and easily get 5 times the rares than in WvW, if not more. Maybe it’s intended, but I’m not sure why.

Meh. It’s not like gold has much use anyways other than buying frivolous tchotchkes in the gem store without having to whip out the credit card. I’d rather play content I enjoy than sit in one spot and mindlessly farm the game’s AI for an endless mining pick.

Shortly after TC took FA’s keep on EB, we paid FA’s spawn a visit. That wasn’t cool, and I helped convince our commander to leave this area. Of course, the 60-man TC zerg wiped us as we tried to leave, so we got our come-up-ins.

Tkitten TC zerg is big enough to take most of the map, so we’re a little lucky that we have the siege bug.

You’ll get two the next time you gain a WvW rank, probably clickable down at the bottom right of your screen just like Daily and Monthly Achievement chests. Then, each time you gain another WvW rank, you’ll continue to get two chests until you catch up to your current rank. That’s how they’re retroactively rewarding chests for past WvW ranks.

This 100%. Dungeon skins should remain unique for that content, and WvW should have PvP centric skins. And sorry, Invaders doesn’t cut the mustard.

Okay Leto, Hoots, TW and some others. How about we lay off the antagonistic Blackhole comments? I know there is a history/rivalry here but it’s pretty uncool to those who are out there every night, as well as those who have chosen to make BG their home but may be struggling with attendance.

Regarding transfers to JQ, I personally think they may be at a bit of a disadvantage due to human nature. People tend to like to see the “big dog” fall, and the “underdog” rise and become the new “big dog”. The fact is, of the current T1 servers, even with their recent slump, JQ still has 12 more T1 wins and 15 more medals than the next closest server. Until there is a bit more balance in the overall win count, this may be a continued drag in their efforts to recruit WvW guilds (assuming my thoughts on the matter are even remotely valid).

Your video guy missed the post from the leader of an SoR guild that popped up in last week’s T1 thread. Probably because he deleted it (you can still see it if you run a search on the thread). Sounds like you guys trolled him pretty hard. Not very cool in my book but it’s also pretty funny and basically harmless.

The thing is…. They should’ve have seen this coming. There’s literally no excuse for not realizing what putting that many people in that time zone will do to the balance of T1.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Hindsight is always 20/20, and you don’t really know what kind of impact a transfer like this is going to have until you have a chance to look back on it. In my eyes, the numbers IRON brought to the EU timeslot, while very meaningful to overall performance, had less impact than the actual fact that they were there at all, which added massive “hey I have something to give a crap about now” factor for SoR. Was it coincidence that MORD and NYS had a sudden resurgence? I think not. Heck even SYN and Ritsuko made a brief return to the game to get in on the action. A 9.0 earthquake hit in the middle of the ocean and SoR is riding the player tsumani.

By the way, please don’t take my opinions above as an attempt at bashing anyone or belittling anyone’s accomplishments. Nothing could be further from the truth. I’m just stating things as I see it, which as always, could be completely stupid and wrong.

BG doesn’t know how to endure, JQ is still a solid contender though. My apologies to BG, it seems a lot of your guilds stop showing up, but how you gain guild is not how one makes a strong community. Whilst you guys say you have one, from everyone I talk to on BG your guilds seem very segregated and do their own things for the most part.

Look, I’ll be straight up here. How we “gained” guilds is no different than any other server. We recruited them if we had time zones where we were weak in our current tier. Sometimes, others followed unexpectedly. Also, we have the same thing as every other successful server in WvW. Forums, a shoutbox, serverwide Teamspeak, weekly strategy threads in the community leaders forum, map/goal assignments and regular VOIP meetings. Blackgate guilds are not any more, or less segregated than any other server unless for one reason or another that guild chooses to be (I don’t know of any, just saying).

I cannot answer why players are not coming out lately, but I feel strongly that it will change for the better sooner rather than later. I have personal opinions on the matter, but they’re just that, opinions, and without any factual data to back them up they’re not even worth mentioning. That said, whatever the current issues are, it has very little if anything to do with “community”.

They’ve been the server to beat during NA prime since at least November if not earlier. I don’t see that changing anytime soon. BG and SoR have a contentious history but I don’t let that get in the way of my offering the respect their NA crew deserves.

I doubt it. From an outsider’s perspective, IRON seems like stand up guys that aren’t out here for ego stroking. They came to NA looking for a different experience and to help move a top tier server into the #1 spot. They scouted all three T1 servers and made their decision based on where it seemed like they were needed the most. The thing is, I don’t think they expected it to happen in the very first week. Now they’re looking around scratching their heads with their primary goal already accomplished, and they’re not finding the fun encounters they were hoping for. Hopefully that changes sometime soon.

If anything, this proves how precarious WvW server balance is in this game. I think morale, driven primarily by a player’s perception of their server’s ability to win, has a larger impact on WvW participation than many people realize.

I name that server BlackHoleGate though. Where on earth are they putting all these guilds? They get a bunch of transfers, I see them on the field for a few weeks and then they dissapear. Something very fishy is going on over there, Anet should be calling in the feds.

This has been kept under wraps, until now. I can’t live with the guilt any longer. The fact is, Blackgate has a dirty secret. Behind the scenes, we are nabbing all the new transfers, taking them down through the heavily guarded Blackgate and to the depths of the earth where we are harvesting their brains and fusing them all together to form a “super brain”. Once it’s ready, this “super brain” will rise through the depths and embed itself right in these very forums, where it will begin to respond to trolls and in turn troll our competitors at a level so incredible and downright heinous that our competitors will explode from within.

So there you have it. Ah it felt good to get that off my chest.

Nothing personal but we do have a match thread for this kind of thing. We really don’t need a whole separate thread for friendly smack talking.

Oh I see, you’re questioning why these will cost laurels at all. Well, the answer is they want these items to be gated by time, and the only way to do that without adding a new currency is to include an existing time gated currency to the cost.

From what I can tell, Rings and Amulets will be available via a WvW vendor at some cost combination of Laurels (reduced from the full Laurel vendor cost) + Badges. The new WvW specific infusions will be the same (Laurels+Badges). Earrings will not be available from the WvW vendor (yet).

Ugh. We need less ACs in keeps and towers right now not more. I think we counted 13 enemy ACs in Quentin Lake early this morning. The current meta is to bait zergs towards a tower and rain down a mini zerg of ACs on them. It sucks to be honest. Arrow Cart Wars 2.

Too bad I recently spent a bunch of badges gearing my Necro and re-gearing my Engi to condi damage. Ah well, I can always farm more, not to mention the 100 laurels I’m sitting on.

When you want something bad enough that can happen I think. Once it gets rolling it just happens organically. I think SoR may be experiencing a similar phenomenon right now. I couldn’t sleep last night so I got out of bed this morning and logged in at 2:30am/5:30am PST/EST and I was kind of shocked to see so many tags from who I know to be SoR NA guilds. I’m not knocking it, just saying it happens.

I run with TW when I can and tbh, guilds do tend to avoid them completely.

We don’t. We love clashing with TW. Although we don’t exactly seek them out either. We run our map and if TW happens to be on it and we cross paths then it’s go time. We’ve had our share of wins and wipes against them, but it’s almost always fun. As much as their forum warriors get under my skin sometimes, you have to respect them on the field. Squaring off against TW always means you have to put on your big boy pants and be on your game, and I’m all for that (wearing big boy pants).

I remember when BG was in T-1 the first go round and the forums were exactly 957 pages long with complaints of the JQ/SBI double team conspiracy. I also remember every orb in T-1 mysteriously vanishing and being unavailable for capture. Hell the orbs are gone from GW because of BG <3. That’s another reason I’m still shocked WM went to BG after all the funny posts they made about how BG had no honor.

I agree with this post, all 3 of our servers have been through the thick of it and come out all the better. As for all the chest thumping, you really have not seen it from the major guilds on SoR as it is mainly our rallians excited about a win. JQ has done the same to us when we first arrived in t1, they posted there own page about how amazing they were from capping all bl’s and I know some of your pugs have also boosted about a win. Everyone over on SoR knows that next week after our IRON high has worn off that BG and JQ will be back at it again, and as always SoR will be ready and waiting for the fights from the best. Good fights this week SF/RK/KnT/Rise and whoever else I missed.
