I don’t get why they don’t just give it a more appropriate reward for a ~30 second fight…
Because that might be unfair to those professions that can’t do it in ~30 seconds? (Can every profession do this fight in 30 seconds? Guards, Necros, Thieves, Warriors can. Who else?)
It’s a farm. There are no exploits happening here. People are using legit strategy to defeat him.
That the nerf was done stealthily was pretty disrespectful of Anet. Why not mention it in the notes? It definitely is something that people would want to know about, so why not put it in? It’s not like people aren’t going to notice!
If Anet really dont want people to farm there they should just put time gate mechanic down there. Maybe disable gambit if you win 10 times with gambit on.And resume after a few hour.
Increase diffuculty not really needed. that gonna make things harder for them for later balance issue.
More time gating??! Please do not do this Anet!
when 2 deadeyes shows up.
I wonder what kind of coding bug makes this happen?
Making Deadeye’s teleports more random seems fair to me. However, now he sometimes kneels down for killshot when in melee range, then teleports at the last second to a great distance dealing heavy damage to you. I feel this is unfair. Anyone agree?
honestly, it was too predictable before and deserved a nerf.
HOWEVER: Another stealth nerf??!!! C’mon!
No. You did not cheat. You won legit. A lot of the challenge is to find a build that works and you did it. Congrats.
I’m 90% sure that she’s actually a man disguised as a woman using mesmer magic.
Unfortunately, the enchantment has been persistent for so long, it’s caused his brain to deteriorate so his mind has become warped.I think this would explain the design of the watchknights. Obviously, he’s designed the watchknights to have ‘feminine’ bodies, because it’s something that he doesn’t possess. It’s how he ultimately desires to look, but can only achieve that through enchantments and building these things.
This would be awesome. Imagine Logan discovering this after finally gotten the queen in bed. Priceless!
Just goes to show how poorly designed these encounters really were. If it ruins the challenge of the fight then why not give the boss a way to counter it instead of just removing it?
Exactly this. The fight environment is perfectly controlled and it’s 1 vs 1. Surely it must be possible to make good fights without having to deny some people their skills!
And if in fact this is not possible, then immobilize must be broken and should be fixed.
I can see the argument in using defiant/unshakeable to prevent the facerolling of bosses in the open world — after all, with multiple players versus 1 boss, the fights would turn out to be boss ping pong.
However, this is a 1 vs 1 situation, in a set and controlled environment. Surely it’s possible to create boss fights where immobilize is not OP?
Apparently Queen’s Gauntlet bosses can’t be immobilized. Why? Is it somehow OP versus these bosses?
For once, it would be nice to have boss fights where all the skills at your disposal can be used 100% effectively (the defiant mechanic prevents this for the regular bosses: champs/legendaries).
don’t want them at all. Anet promised no vertical progression grind but ascended armor and weapons will be exactly that. They will certainly be time gated so alts, new toons, and new players will lose out big time compared to those with fully ascended gear.
My prediction/fear: Instead of nerfing the rune, Anet will nerf confusion!
They will almost certainly do this. It puts together two of their favorite things: nerfing any farm spots and time gating.
Better farm these champs as much as possible right now.

thanks! totally forgot about that … it’s kinda lame for soloing bosses (vuln is also 50% duration and blind is 10% effective) .. If these effects could scale to number of players around, that would be nice (kind of like defiant)!
I was killing some bosses solo and noticed that weakness has only half its listed (in tooltip) duration on bosses. Here’s my tests:
- weakness has 1/2 duration on bosses:
- Tested first golem boss and Tazza in SEp1, Golem boss in Metrica, and Flame Tribune in Fireheart Rise.
- Skills used were: Enfeebling Blood and Signet of Spite. Their condition durations are quite long (10+ seconds) as I have +condition duration traited so it was easy to tell durations were about 1/2 of their listed values.
- other conditions have full duration on bosses. (Tested using chill and blindness.)
- weakness has full duration on non-bosses.
Anyone know if this is a bug or intended?
anytime you zone to another instance or map it will again disable #1. But as long as you stay in same map/instance, once you Enabled #1 AA, it will remember it for the next Lich form casting.
I swear I tried this in a dungeon yesterday and the second time I casted it, it had reverted back to disabled (no deaths, downs, wp in between casts)!
If that’s the case, I belive you have to enable it the first time you use it, then? And it stays on auto attack? Or does it revert back ? I can’t remember, haven’t used it much… anyone else have any concrete info on this?
It reverts back the next time you use the skill, which is really annoying.
Anyone know why Lich form has autoattack automatically disabled? There doesn’t seem to be a good reason for this.
Edit: sorry, I meant “disabled” and wrote “enabled”

Pre-Rune: My warrior could easily stack 8-12 Confusion, a bit more with effort.
With-Rune: The exact same build stacks 21-25 Confusion easily.I enjoyed the build before the rune… seemed to catch people off-guard with the 12 stacks of Confusion. I saw the new runes and thought that would be perfect, adding an extra stack of confusion on each interrupt… but it added more than one. I thought my quirky build was getting better, but it seems to have gotten overpowered which completely eliminates its quirkiness. (shakes fist)
tldr: I was playing confusion warrior before it was cool.
Even worse, there is a potential for Anet to nerf your build instead of the rune — they seem to like nerfing around the problem point.
Don’t “fix” the matching system, fix the evolution ratings. If you are in last place and it’s not reasonably close, you should de-evolve. Otherwise it’s like saying “yea you got blown away, but we thought you’d get blown away even worse so good job” ….. that is not a fair or appropriate message to send. When you lose you should be given a better chance next week to win. Evolution doesn’t keep players around… winning does.
The problem is that for each server, there are very very few matchups that have the potential to be close. So to get close matches each week, you’re pretty much guaranteed matchup stagnation.
The reason there are so few potential close matchups is because of the WvW population imbalance between servers: servers that are just two ranks away from yours often have grossly different WvW population. This problem has really not been addressed by Anet and I feel really needs to be.
I’m a healer Guardian.
There’s your problem. Go full DPS zerker for PvE.
Well my best hour yet gave me back 290 Resplendent Watchwork Boxes, less the cost of tickets (4 silver per ticket) that’s ~6 silver per box for roughly 17.4 gold. I did get two charged lodestones this time, which increases my haul quite nicely.
Here’s my routine:
The “risk” taken with those 4 gambits on is essentially nil. The worst thing that can go wrong is if you accidentally try to use Flashing Blade before you’re in range, then you won’t teleport to him and you might end up dropping your wall at the starting point if your muscle memory has taken over. But you can recover from that by using Renewed Focus to walk through the mine. You’ll need to probably pop your other virtues to recover from the Volley in the middle at that point, and then he’ll get off his first teleport. You can use Focus #4 at that point to nullify his Kill Shot, at then Flashing Blade should be off cooldown so you can TP to him again and finish him off.
Of course all that can be avoided if you just walk in range of Flashing Blade and do it correctly to begin with. You can add more damage like the 5% boost consumable or stacks of Bloodlust, but it really doesn’t matter since the limiting factor is the wall/shout cooldown.
Nice!
Unfortunately, you should know by now that by posting this, you can be sure it will be nerfed. (It’s a sad state where telling of your farming methods in a forum is akin to a criminal telling of his crimes in a bar.)
strange.. I died after jumping from the eagle.
Run with the zergs below, tickets will drop out of the chests.
So we get reduced WP costs for a month from Kiel winning the election. But of course, she/Anet makes all the money back from all the people waypointing after being killed in the gauntlet!
It’s a tough spot for ANet to be in though. If you tell everyone that they’ll be worth gold (or any sort of reward, for that matter) when the event’s over, then everyone just holds on to them for later, and ignores the election. Don’t tell people, and they’ll be justifiably miffed after they delete seemingly useless junk. It sucks if you deleted yours, but try to appreciate the lose/lose situation ANet was in here.
Once the event was over, Anet probably should have just left them as worthless junk to be deleted — no one expected them to be worth anything anyway.
The real problem now is: Who’s going to vote next time knowing that the tokens will be worth money after the voting’s over? Bad precedent, Anet.
I didn’t vote and deleted my tokens before the update
This is going to cause fewer people to vote next time.
Go to your …/Documents/Guild Wars 2/ folder and delete local.dat.
It will tend to bloat over time and after big patches. It should be ~1 MB in size.
Note: This resets your graphical and audio settings.
It’s a problem that has showed up with these new patches. There’s a big thread about it in the technical support forum. I don’t think it’s a normal “bloat over time” issue.
I think his point his that almost every living story feels like a holiday event rather then an actual event. The Molten Alliance for example felt like an actual battle though I still think it could of been done better with some of the world stuff going on. Everything else feels like a holiday with some bad guys. The Aetherblade Pirates just feel like party crashers and not a real threat. They are like clowns gone wrong.
I agree… if every event is like a holiday event, then the actual holiday events become nothing special.
since the update i got incredible long loading screens, i used to have max 2-3 seconds and now its like 10-15 everywhere o_O
exact same issue as me… was 2-3 seconds.. now 10-15.. I have an SSD hard drive and can only imagine how bad it is with a rotating disk hard drive!
It’s definitely not that I’m loading into a popular zone either, this is true of all maps including dungeons.
Anyone else notice a significant increase in map load times since the Aug 6 updates?
(in all maps, not just ones with lots of players)
Deleted them all. Anet should have told us earlier; we expect these items to be worthless after the event is over so it was natural to delete them.
Nothing possibly could go wrong with employing new mechanical sentinels to protect the Queen, right?
This is not funny. There are enough places in the world where legitimately elected leaders really are threatened with things like assassination; let’s not bring it into the video game world, please. Whether the voting was rigged or not, keep it civil.
… Except that’s also commonly used in the plots of even lighthearted videogames like this.
You know, like Caudecus’ Manor?
So really, this is just kinda overly-sanctimonious. You know what else happens in real life? People getting kidnapped. Can we please have less kidnapping in the game? /sarcasm
But… Think of the children!
Anyway, they already assassinated that charr from the ships council so it’s not like that’s never been seen in GW.
It really matters little in the long run. For all we know, this might be the last time ever we see either Kiel or Evon in a story.
that would be fine. Especially in Kiel’s case.
Seriously Martin? The title was perfect :X.
I thought the title was a bit harsh, and the new one better reflects some of the actual more RP posts in this thread.
yeah.. title was perfect. We don’t want her stepping down. We want her dead. Of course Anet usually only kills characters immediately after we meet them (former ships council guy for example) so this is unlikely to happen.
Engi’s can be really strong and yet aren’t overly popular. Necros are the flavor of the month because of recent buffs but are going to be nerfed pretty hard soon.
Queen Jennah will be assassinated during her Jubilee?
Enough of these goody goody two shoes characters! Please, please start killing them off!
And what would you replace them with? All of the characters in this game, goody two shoes or no, are cardboard cutouts. There’s no more depth to Evon Gnashblade than there is Ellen Kiel, for example.
Everything you said is true. However, goody two shoes are worse than other types of cardboard cutouts (that’s why I’d like to see Kiel killed off as well). And I would replace them with more complex characters that are more realistically human with human motivations, flaws, etc. Is that too much to ask?
Lord Kuru must be one of the nobles trying to take over the human leadership.
LOL… no, I think I’m middle/working class (?) (I have a friend who works at a bar — is that right?) and I never finished the personal story.
I just don’t like these one-dimensional characters that we have in this game. Especially when they are not believable. C’mon.. an egalitarian queen? What’s next? We find out that she was voted into office a la Star Wars Ep1?
Dear Anet,
Please add the faces and hairstyles from GW1. I will give you my money if you do. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Everyone who played GW1
funny, without knowing this thread existed, I made a thread asking for the assassination of Queen Jennah!
Too bad it won’t happen because she’s in the human personal story.
Queen Jennah will be assassinated during her Jubilee?
Enough of these goody goody two shoes characters! Please, please start killing them off!
I personally would not like to see any more of Destiny’s Edge as long as Logan Thackary and Eir (to a lesser extent) are involved.
For a while, it looked like they were making a Destiny’s Edge: The Next Generation with Braham, Rox, etc. I really hope this does NOT come to pass!
the combat log is actually pretty kitten poor: no listing of condition damage, minion damage, skills that do 0 damage, etc. It should simply list all effects that you apply to foes and all effects that foes apply to you (if that’s too much, include checkboxes so that players get to choose which type of combat interactions they wish to see).
With this necro
buffing
…then immediate nerfing
…and then more nerfing
…then un-nerfing to come
…then re-nerfing after that,
it’s clear Anet has no idea what they’re doing! Please, please hire some people to help with balancing. (Sorry, I guess that last line was somewhat constructive.)
Nerfing burning for everyone because Dhuumfire is OP: that’s only a slightly exaggerated version of Anet’s MO for nerfing!
You can convert badges to gold by buying seige and the TP’ing them.
