I’m sure they’ll shave a couple seconds off of it again for the next quarterly update. Problem solved, right?
Let me try:
- Yak’s Bend & Anvil Rock = Yak’s Bend
- Blackgate & Eredon Terrace = Blackgate
- Jade Quarry & Isle of Janthir = Jade Quarry
- Tarnished Coast & Kaineng = Tarnished Coast
- Dragonbrand & Sanctum of Rall = Dragonbrand
- Fort Aspenwood & Borlis Pass = Fort Aspenwood
- Sea of Sorrows & Gate of Madness = Sea of Sorrows
- Maguuma & Devona’s Rest = Maguuma
- Stormluff Isle & Crystal Desert = Stormbluff Isle
- Darkhaven & Ferguson’s Crossing = Darkhaven
- Henge of Denravi & Ehmry Bay = Henge of Denravi
- Northern Shiverpeaks & Sorrow’s Furnace = Northern Shiverpeaks
Wow, you must be really fun at parties!
Just being realistic.

Ehmry Bay is dead and gone. They’ll probably remove all traces of it soon, once people get used to its demise. By the way, it got absorbed by HoD, not SoS.
LOL. Autoattack still bugged. Or maybe not bugged, but intended? We’ll never know.
Didn’t I read somewhere that the devs said it was going to take a lot of work (2-3 months worth) before alpine was going to be ready to be back in rotation due to changes on the backend due to HoT?
They’re stalling as long as possible, hoping players will change their mind about the Desert BL. Like the famous Mike Tyson quote, “I will **** you till you love me.”
The queues will disappear soon and WvW will be back to its previous state because server merges are just that, merges. The root cause of WvW’s loss of population hasn’t been addressed.
However, for those who went to lower tiers to escape blobs and are now in T1, you’re just going to have to transfer again.. to T4 this time.
TY Dank
I hoped I’d covered this in point 5 of my post – when population reduces Anet either reduce map caps or go back to 4 maps. If this doesn’t cover your concern please give me more details and I’ll think them over.
If you go back to 4 maps, then you lose both the choice of maps to play on as well as the the server identity feature. And guess which map would be kept? DBL, of course.
- Queues: Because everyone is rushing in to try shiny new
- Prime-time: Over stacked, hard to play with guild/friends
- Play-style: low-pop-play removed effectively, etc
There are a lot of different points flying around here.
Some of these will improve somewhat with time, in that the “new shiny!” wears off and people goes a bit more passive again, The weekdays etc.
But I absolutely understand XTD’s main point that those that went to lower tiers because they WANTED that play style, just lost it. Myself being one such, that already miss a place to go away from the zergs, heck even OS had something resembling zerg on zerg combat (it was the only map without queue so I had to check).
I think that this would actually be partially solved by adding Dynamic Map Adjustment. Remove the queue’s by opening more maps, shut them down as play number dwindle. This would also let people looking for lesser populated maps be on the look out for newly created maps, and preferably let guilds try to stack for the same instance of a map. I really think this idea should be a corner stone for other fixes and changes to work with.
Do it like this: the playable area is an island. As player population decreases (e.g. nighttime), the sea level increases, reducing the total play area… and as player population increases (e.g. primetime), sea level decreases, revealing more play area.
Or do it a lake in the center of the map. Or a bunch of lakes. Something like that.
It would require a new map though, so maybe in 2019?
I’m a casual player and I only have time to play gw2 for about one hour per day. The queue time essentially prevents me from playing WvW, which is the only part of the game that I really enjoy.
Queues weren’t even this bad on launch weekend for me. I’m a casual player on a fairly casual server and I liked it that way.
EoTM have no qs
go play there for one hour a day, its 3 hours per match there 24/7
the match on Worlds are a week look, so EoTM suits your playstyle
dont stress yourself too much on WvW, its just a game bruh
Outside of Anet devs, who considers EoTM WvW?
A lot of the issues could be taken care of if the linking/merges changed from week to week, but from what the devs are saying, that’d take more effort than they’re willing to put in.
There’s no incentive for Anet to cater to someone that isn’t interested in playing under their new monetization model, because they moved to this model due to a majority player desire.
All the content promised in the expansion was supposed to also come with the B2P/gemstore model. The expansion was just a money grab.
RIP AR, ET, IoJ, Kain, SoR, BP (maybe more, but at least these servers)…
If you can’t see their tags, either as friend or foe, they’re going to lose all their identity. And yes, theoretically, Anet can unlink and merge differently, but let’s be honest, they’re not going to bother.
You would be right, but Anet did some jerk move with HoT. And to follow your deal, Anet removed some of the core game and put it behind HoT, How is this hard to understand?
This is just really low. But, it’s the kind of company they want to be.
Circular argument much?
How is this circular? Raids are exclusive to HoT, the DPS training area is exclusive to the Raid Lobby, therefore you cannot enter the Raid Lobby and in extension the DPS Training Area if you do not have HoT.
And why is the training area exclusive to the raid lobby?
Because Raiders are the ones who requested it, and Raiding is the only area where it’s actually of use.
100% false.
If Skyhammer was kept around for 3 years, the Deserted BL isn’t going away anytime soon. The devs are too stubborn and just won’t learn — at the cost of the WvW population.

Why does it have to have anything to do with raids?
It does, right?
Has anyone been able to use the breakbar well in solo dungeon runs?
It seems a lot of people feel that breakbars really damaged the PvE experience. Why?
Another whine thread about double teaming.
Rough idea:
- Introduce a new currency (yeah, sorry) for each fractal. Let’s say, one token per run for each fractal.
- Make this currency required for crafting/buying some fancy new skin. Let’s say 100 of each token — some pretty big number.
- Every token can be traded on the on TP.
- Add some sort of time gate, because Anet.
- Let the economy do the rest.
Why this might work:
Very importantly, if you hate fractals, just buy the tokens off the TP. This means there will be big demand for the tokens on the TP. At equilibrium, the profit for each fractal should reflect how difficult/lengthy that fractal turns out to be. So doing two swamps would net you the same profit as doing one fractal of twice the length.
That means if you like doing swamp over and over, just continue doing it, you’re not explicitly punished for that. And if you like more diversity, you’re not missing out on gold by not doing swamp over and over. I know Anet doesn’t believe in this any more, but “play how you want.”
Also, there’s a minimal amount of tweaking that needs to be done by the devs (just decide on the number of tokens required for the skin), which is good, because look at how much effort they put in when they varied the dungeon gold rewards.
The breakbar and removal of unshakeable was just the final nail in the coffin to me.
I haven’t seen too many thoughts on the breakbar. As a solo player, it really reduced my gameplay options and for me, really shortened the lifespan of the game.
Problem is, they’ll end up ruining WvW more than the desert borderlands Anet put out.
They’ll cause over 70% of the WvW population to quit the game in a blink of an eye?
Anyway, we’ve seen this before many times.
- They’ll push their new home up as far as they can.
- Once they can’t move up any further, they’ll make excuses (usually blaming their server), and mass transfer to the next victim.
- The server, whose native guilds will have all quit or transferred by then, will be a shell of its former self. It’ll freefall down the rankings as servers it used to dominate delight in beating it down.
- Rinse and repeat.
Just out of curiosity, since Super Adventure Box is ending soon, what do you think is going to be in the next patch… or what IS going to be in the next patch?
I know that the old World vs World map is going to come back
Not in the next patch.
Why would they buff dungeons? The entire point of the nerf was to discourage people from doing them.
It would be easy enough to move all the camp guards closer to the center, so you’d always have to fight all of them to flip a camp. But to be clear, you guys are arguing that you want to do ‘more PvE’, which seems to go against the forum’s current agenda of ‘less PvE.’
Wow. This makes it pretty clear how good the WvW revamp is going to be.
on the reddit AMA Mike says: Further on, we’ll launch the next raid wing in May or June, then Living World and the next quarterly update.
Of course they also said in that AMA that 3 legendary weapons were almost done and the others would be coming along at a 1 per month pace… so….
And that they have reached the sustainability that lets them reach their goals without needing to resshufle devs from one project to the other.
We all know how that ended.
Honestly, i believe that raids are the next content to be cancelled, though there is possibility that they will do that only after making the third wing (as it would let them dissolve the team without needing to inform anyone).
Yeah.
After wing 3, people expect maybe a 6 month break until the next raid. So what Anet will do is cancel raid development right after wing 3 comes out, but not make an announcement. That way they can hold customers for maybe up to a year, waiting for the next raid. “It’s coming soon! Stay excited!”
Of course, the negative is when they finally do announce the cancellation, people will be angry that Anet was “working” on the new raid for a year only to finally kill it. Anet can’t give an explanation because they won’t want to say that raids were actually cancelled long ago.
Probably the same thing happened with the Legendaries cancellation.
If you didn’t like how grindy it was before HoT, wait till you see it now. Hint: you won’t like it.
I remember when these guys were taking NSP towers way back … maybe a year or more ago. Getting Anet to do anything is like pulling teeth.
Either ignore them and let your towers be taken, or just log off for the week.. your blood pressure will thank you.
So basically, yes. It’s legal to sell runs for dungeons and other content that requires a party. Although it’s “buyer beware”.
What he said is stronger than “buyer beware”:
As long as the transaction is completed and players are getting what they paid for, fine.
don’t forget the atlas.
HoT was not "half done" and my 3 reasons why
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lord Kuru.3685
HoT’s planned content was already half an expansion. Subtracting the broken promises takes off another half. So it’s a quarter of an expansion.
You can argue about whether Anet broke a legal contract until you’re blue in the face. But the fact is no one is going to sue Anet over this so that’s all moot.
The important point is that Anet has lost all its credibility with customers, which means sales of the next expansion is going to be even lower than sales of this one.
Free server transfer window also heavily damaged WvW
This should be added because it’s pretty significant.
Also, t’s good to see “violating my game mode” and the golem rush event on the list as they really damaged Anet’s credibility with WvW players.
Bottom server has around 1200 kills per week. There are 10,000 minutes in a week. So they’re averaging one kill every 8+ minutes.
Considering that there must be more activity around primetime, that means there are probably huge stretches of time when the server makes 0 kills.
I wonder what’s the longest period of time where a server makes no kills. Half an hour? One hour? Is it possible to see that with the API?
I don’t think there’s any reason not to believe them.
Seriously?
Forever. Or in Anet speech: indefinitely suspended.
Not surprising. They’ve been the same, with the same progress stopping bugs, for years. Any new ones would probably follow style of the WvW missions: hastily put together checklists instead of content.
Anet cares about gem sales from server transfers much more than it cares about having decent WvW.
They held their end of the deal, the provider didn’t. They can and should be as cynical, salty, angry and loud as they are – and more, until they get what they paid for or at least until they would be pesented with a solution to the broken trade. (the customer didn’t pay for the development team to work on bugs. They paid for the expansion with the promoted features- so it’s only fair they would CONSULT with the customer, before using their money for other purposes. Instead they said "oh yea, sorry guys, we’re gonna use that money to fix the bugs and issues – which were present prior to the expac)
Really? Life has taught you that this is how you get your way: expressing your anger loudly, being salty and cynical? Cynicism is not constructive and throwing a tantrum most likely won’t lead to your desired results. Most children in the world (the ones whose parents/guardians actually have a backbone, that is) can tell you this. Just imagine how you would respond to someone treating you that way, whether you’ve actually wronged him or not. Is this the only way to get through to you if the roles were reversed? If so, I can understand your point of view, but it also comes off as pretty closeminded. Whether you’re justified or not, it’s best to take the high ground and show some maturity. People are much more likely to take you serious and listen to you then.
Anet has shown again and again that they don’t react and don’t communicate unless the community explodes in anger. It’s the only thing that works when dealing with this company.
Together we grew the active player-base for PvP by 135% last year – and that’s pretty awesome.
This certainly sounds impressive until you stop and think about it…
That means you a little over doubled the ACTIVE PvP population in the past year.
First, you need to define active? Play PvP 1 match a day? 1 match a week? 10 matches a day? By correctly defining “Active” I could double or even triple any aspect of the games population.
Second, there is no information on the % of players who are “active” in PvP. what was it last year? 5? 10%? 50%? If you doubled from 1% to 2% of the active population then 200K was a supreme waste of money.
Finally you fail to mention HoT launch and F2P. These two things more than doubled the active population of GW2 compared to before. Without putting these numbers in context they are meaningless. How much has the PvE population changed in the past year? fractal population? WvW population? If these sections of the game have grown by more than 100% with the launch of F2P and HoT then PvP has actually failed, not succeeded.
Remember a few years back when they were bragging about how great the numbers for WvW were. Everyone was suspicious… and then it turned out they were including the EotM karma train numbers. Same thing here.
- New content.
- Promises followed through.
- Honest and open communication.
April Fools!
- They’ll put all the HoT failed mechanics into it.
- Everyone will hate that.
- People who do come back will quickly leave because of this.
- Apologists will say “See, people will whine no matter what Anet does.” Everyone else will groan.
I looks very pretty, but as playable content, it’s terrible. A pretty good generalization of GW2 as a whole, in fact.
they are bring back alpine soon. that is great news.
Yeah sure. Soon. Any time now. Just around the corner. I can almost see it.
The future:
- Promise,
- Don’t deliver,
- Bread and circuses to appease the masses,
- Goto 1.
