Charr will claim any new land.

What? Why?
They have no reason to establish and maintain a large force so far away that would only drain their resources from more pertinent matters.
I have no understanding of why people think there would be Charr hordes in Orr post Zhaitan when it benefits them in no meaningful way except to say “lel, we own lotsa land”. Kitten, they are even conceding portions of their current holdings to Ebonhawke so they don’t have to bother with fighting them anymore and those guys are right on their doorstep.
The Charr are reprioritizing their forces and are beginning to see the benefits of humans as allies (although not all are convinced yet). Unless for some oddball reason this reprioritization revolves around claiming (again, for the seemingly only benefit of claiming it) Orr, there is no reason for that. Charr outposts? Sure, but I don’t see a reason to expect much.

what are the orders gaining for there work and by giving it to humans with no reason what so ever other then the queen will look bad and its a old human kingdom

If that’s your understanding of the situation and what was said, then there is no hope of ever convincing you of anything logical. At this point you’re either ignoring what people tell you for convenience or you literally cannot use logic.

i from experaince haveing a nation rulled by one race

kitten man web browsers have freaking spell checkers. Use them.
Also waaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

the other will at some point fell suppreced if not get suppreced by the ruling race and that is the reason we should not give it to humans

This makes literally no sense in the context of this and appears to be jumping to conclusions that previously required only Saturn V rockets to reach.

we know that the other races are going to be precent there to some degree for diffrent reasons i think we have all come to agree on that.

This has nothing to do almost with what you’ve previously stated and seems to backtrack it.
I don’t know, I don’t even know what you’re saying. I’m no longer sure I ever could.

Are you just trolling? Like, do you post just to watch people fumble through your posts trying to make sense of them? Either proofread your posts or don’t bother.

What’s the point of the equivalent of 2 extra weapon swaps when we give up health, armor, and variable range for them? Not to mention that many ele skills simply aren’t as good as those of other professions.

D/D has variable range, just not of the ‘sit back and spam auto attack’ variation. Staff has Evasive Arcana for melee.

I’m referring to the ability to swap between a ranged and melee weapon set.

That’s another problem of our class, exactly, and that’s the exact reason I can’T understand the huge mobility nerf, because we can’t SWITCH to ranged weapon set, we should have MORE mobility than other classes to counter that (While using D/X weapon set, mainly D/D)

About that variable range on dagger, you mean those few spells with range of 600? Are you serious???

I think he is referring to the two very limited 900 range skills under Dagger MH Water.

MH dagger (water) has no spells with the range of 900 units m8

Huh….that’s what I read on the in game tooltip…

would be the best day for me on GW2 if it happened…
Finally the “ele is fine due to LH” excuse would disappear….

The LH does at least work as an excuse for the people that complain that “the ele is too hard!”.

EDIT: The sarcastic buff to LH mentioned in a few posts above is actually a real buff. Blind almost never works on bosses, and LH is used against bosses, for its high damage and spammable blast finishers. If you remove blind for a 5% chance-on-critical to deal extra 2-5k damage, it’s a pve buff.

LH is also used for farming/leveling/trash mobs because their attack speeds are often times slower than the 3rd hit goes off meaning you as a group will take almost no damage.

The blind is huge.

This. The LH makes leveling and taking on multiple veterans viable BECAUSE of the blind. It effectively allows us to level with ease instead of having to drop keyboard contortionist might stacks for every. single. mob. we. need. to. kill.

If you want to dps a boss with a conjure you’re much better off using fgs and dropping might stacks inbetween.

As far as I’m concerned 5 man dungeons are the bane of the game.

How is content that can be completely ignored and bypassed even able to be considered the “bane of the game”.
You can literally customize your experience to do them and that’s if you even choose to do them.
I can understand the champ farms being called out but the dungeons?

All dungeons allow is for there to be more difficult content that doesn’t interfere with the “I’m going to watch some MST3K while running around in my Staff Guard to farm events/champions” group.

About centaur organs

in Lore

Posted by: Lostwingman.5034

Lostwingman.5034

I have been wondering, where centaurs have their hearts and other inner organs. In their humanoid torso or in the horse body, or in both? Does anyone know the answer to this?

Little known secrets.

Many years ago there were horses on Tyria, however they were corrupted by alien parasites brought by the “humans” (historians believe unintentionally as uninvited passengers) and lost their heads from the shoulder up which atrophied as the alien parasite denied nutrients. Instead being controlled by the parasites linked into their spine. However this stage of parasite control cannot last for an extended period so these headless horses searched for replacement nutrient sources. What transpired is that as the head and neck atrophied and fell off, a gaping maw was left through which the matured parasite’s appendages drew forth.
Upon coming across their natural host, the human, the parasite ushers the only functionally living horse to run down the prey and draw them in by the legs through the maw by their appendages. Little is known about the interior anatomy of this stage as “Centaur” stage corpses disintegrate after expiration of the parasite. It is theorized by top Human researchers however that the human brain is somehow compatible with the parasites (being from the same alien world) and is thus somehow compatible to the nutrient demand of the parasite.
Over the centuries cases of new Human-Horse parasitic hybrids formed by capturing human prey has drastically decreased. Researchers and Hunters in secret who have tried to stop these creatures now believe that the parasite has further evolved. Fully absorbing the human’s ability to use magic and utilizing it in such a way to reproduce and create more perfect hybrids. It is truly unclear where these developments are leading but one thing is clear, the “Centaur” menace must be quarantined and contained. For the protection of all sentient races.

Never enough of technology...

in Twilight Assault

Posted by: Lostwingman.5034

Lostwingman.5034

I’m not really clear how you can claim your percentages. 40% of the races are tech. Every Ascalon and Maguuma zone has some tech in it. The closer you get to a Charr or Asura facility the amount of tech increases. The fact that Asura tech is magic in nature doesn’t remove that fact that it is also highly scifi. Charr tech is industrial which is almost a greater leap from fantasy than scifi is.

These should, however, be known factors. The Charr invented the flintlock. They’re all about technology. Asura invented fricken computers, they’re all about technology. If that detracts from your enjoyment that’s too bad, but it’s your problem for thinking you would be in your version of a fantasy world, rather than the lore rich world that ANet created.

I think the problem with Asura is the tone, look, and capability of their technology compared to everyone else.
It’s like shoving a bunch of Star Trek tech and aesthetics into an epilogue of Game of Thrones or something.

Lostwingman.5034

The ariships use charr, human, and asura technology – the latter two use magic in their technology (for humans it’s a “time to time” thing while for asura it’s “all the time”) so I’m sure there’s some magic related to making it float, especially the Aetherblade version which got revamped by Inquest.

The problem for me is trying to figure out where one’s technology begins and the others end and vice versa. With the Charr their level of technology and general functioning is plainly visible and has real life parallels to make it easy to understand.
We also have Asura technology thrown in our faces at virtually every step so imagining their “replace electricity, welding, and hydraulics/pneumatics with magic” isn’t too hard to imagine. Although where it fits in the Airships I don’t know yet.
With the Humans I just don’t know. With them I see a bunch of peasantry and field laborers.

Sadly, Lostwingman, that’s among the holes in the interview’s explanations…

And how so many NPCs in the game don’t use magical skills even as instinctive “defense mechanisms”

Yea, things don’t really make sense if everyone can use magic in some capacity yet many basic modes of labor exist as they did on Earth in the pre-modern era.

This all just really confuses me. I’ve been trying to reconcile how much magic is involved with basic technology but I just don’t know.
Like with the airships, are we just assuming that for plot and artistic convenience they use a conveniently super light by volume gas for buoyancy or is it some kind of imbued magic? Except I thought Iron Legion machine works were specifically without the aide of magic so that can’t be right…

How Does One Become A Magic Profession?

in Lore

Posted by: Lostwingman.5034

Lostwingman.5034

It should be noted that while “everyone can use magic” but “not everyone does use magic” – there are people with a specific magical proficiency. For example, right outside the Grove you will find an NPC who’s crying – talking to her reveals she wants to train to be an elementalist, but her mentor suggests becoming a thief because she’s more skilled in that profession’s abilities.

One way to look at it would be to view “magic” to be akin to the word “art” – anyone can do it, but certain people have talents in certain fields of art. A good sketcher may not be good at painting, for example; or for a wider field example, a good writer may not be good at drawing and vice versa. In a similar manner, those proficient with mesmer abilities may not have good skills in that of necromancy or elementalism.

What about bakers, craftsman, and manual laborers?
Is the explanation there that their magic is just so pitiful overall they must rely solely on manual labor?

Lostwingman.5034

Although they aren’t the kind to go into, say, Ascalon and tell the Charr to clean up their act, they may very well take a personal stake in Orr given that it was a major part of their short lived society to see it cleansed.

I think they Sylvari would likely allow the humans to move back in and may even allow for human Sovereign rule, but I don’t think they would simply allow the humans to take over completely without a heavy Sylvari presence. How the humans would respond to this I’m unsure, but I think it would at least start out on good and cooperative terms.

Btw if sylvary will come to Ascalon with actual ideas how to do it without stopping industrialization, charr will probably let em do it and assign warbands to help. Charr cares about healthy environment (no one wants to live in wasteland and charr are rational thinkers, see multiple charr hearts about cleansing various areas), they just care more about industrialization at the moment.

Those hearts about cleaning up the environment, aren’t those more about environmental hazards and disasters like tar leaks and whatnot preventing use of the land?
The Charr are pretty much venture capitalists when it comes to environmentalism. “Does the environment benefit us? Yes: Keep it. No: Change it”.

Also these arguments about “claims” to Orr, shouldn’t we have gone through all these already? Any claim at this point with the risen still there and land so messed up is just a limp wristed gesture at a land grab until someone actually puts in the resources to making it theirs.

Still don’t think the Charr would do much more than have an outpost here or there as it’s soo far from their territories and primary conflicts.

Need bundles on top of/instead of turrets

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Lostwingman.5034

Lostwingman.5034

This really is the only solution to the turrets, but at the same time how do you balance it?

“Carefully”

The point of the turrets are to remove Tequatls armor and to remove the poison areas. If it’s a bundle that anyone can pick up both of those things become nothing.

No it isn’t, to start off with you still need a LOT of dps to down Tequatl. Too many people with packs = not enough DPS. Additionally for the armor removal make it a condition stack on the dragon where one use from a pack adds 1 to the stack and when the stack maxes at 25 you remove a scale. From there it would be easy to balance.
For poison you could simply make it a small Self-AoE cleanse (240 range?) on a reasonable cooldown (20 sec?).
There are many things you could do.

Even if they quadrupled the cooldown if you just got everyone who would be protecting the turrets to use that instead the armor would be cake and so would the poison.

Not if they adjust the 2 skill on the packs to be prohibitive without losing lots of DPS as well. The point would give the battle some leeway with losing a turret or two to a noobie.

Somehow the turrets still need to be in effect, but if they’re automated they could only be automated to drop armor, really, which still leaves buffing and poison removal in the hands of any number of people. Making both of the major problem mechanics, armor and poison, nonissues.

It’s already barely sufficient with the turrets we have.
I already partially solved the issue with stacking packs above
Plus, the turret area is the part of the event that scales. Did you never notice that champs only spawn there when soo many people join?
That’s an easy way to balance that and it’s already present.

It just doesn’t seem like a balanced solution to the problem.

Think outside the Taco.

It is NOT impossible for you as the only thing holding you back is them and numbers.
Do you understand the difference now?
Or are you going to keep lashing out over any perceived slight because of your frustration?

Well the argument is flawed.
1. It’s impossible for servers filled with AFKers and potatoes due to them upscaling the event
2. If the servers overcomes potatoes upscaling the event, potatoes get the reward too, therefore making it not impossible for potatoes.
Pick one!

1. So Potatoes and AFKers sabotage the event for themselves when in any appreciable numbers.
2. This is why I added the “almost” caveat because it is possible if they aren’t allowed on turrets and the ratio of Humans:Potatoes is very high towards Thinking Users. It just isn’t feasible for many to win that way outside of a statistically infinitesimal amount.
That’s the thing, some things are always possible. Like winning the lottery. You’re treating Potatoes winning the lottery like its a regular thing for Potatoes.
Plus I was replying to the OP who had abandoned his home server (not guested out, outright transfered which happens to be my home server) that is constantly sabotaged because of the INCREDIBLE amount of Potatoes and AFKs.
I don’t think you understand having a server in overflow but only a dozen or so people doing the event. It was in that context that I made the statement.

…..while everyone else mashes 1 just like before…..the zerg doesn’t need to do ANYTHING.

While I will agree that the event is too dependent on who gets on the turrets…what kind of absolutely absurd Power and Autoattack DPS do you think people have to just stand there and autoattack?

Honestly you’re either misrepresenting how the DPS zerg works or you haven’t done it yet in a competent group.

Give it time, people will learn the mechanics eventually without the need of guesting/teamspeak. It’s only day four and we’re seeing more and more servers having success.

One must be critical of how much that is due to guesting.

Then you don’t have any comprehension and have let your frustration make out what you want.

I’m pretty sure that you don’t know English well enough then.

It’s impossible for potatoes and afks.

“For” and “Because of” are two different things.

It’s impossible for potatoes and afks.

nice way to insult servers that are trying by using their own guilds only.

Nice way to not read what I said.

what you said essentially reads as “it’s not impossible unless you’re a potato”, so yes, I did read.

Then you don’t have any comprehension and have let your frustration make out what you want.

Maybe he just went to help Tequatl, after all he knows Teq is now having all the fun beating us repeatedly

Sounds like he guested to another zone….

5. LFG option. OMG something positive incoming. Awesome idea. My only complaint here is that it can’t be tested if no one is using it.…hint hint people!

It IS being tested. Read the patch notes. It is getting a gradual release to test it with different numbers of people using it.

So SoS guys, should I even bother coming back to try this, or is it just a waste of time?

Serious question, this looked like an interesting event, now I’m starting to reconsider.

Might as well pop in and see what it looks like.
You can still go for achievements like the tail dodge or something.
