Server Titles for WvW playtime ?

What if we can get such a feature that will track the time spend playing WvW or certain server and reward us a “server title” (e.g. “Vabbi Hound”).

The idea is simple – you gather up points while playing wvw on one server and your points decrease if you transfer away and you’re not able to gain more points toward gaining points for your new server till you loose all points from your previous server.

I call them ‘honor points’ (pride points).

There could be a variety of titles depending on your points you have accumulated – which will be tied to a title progression. (example: tier 1 – Vabbi Hound for 1000 points and tier 2 Vabbi Scout for 5000 points)

Achievement with progression to boost a bit the server pride and a way to show off your loyalty to your server you love.

what do you think and what titles you would like to have to show off ?

I don’t seem to have a way to deal any notable damage after his 1st phase.

So anyone figured it out or my boss got bugged and become immortal ?

EDIT: turned out there was really a bug tha made the boss immortal – restarting the thing fixed it,and i’ve killed him easy.

Scoring Discussion

Great start guys! There are a lot of good ideas already.

Here is a high level summary (not a proposal) of what is currently being discussed:

  • Some sort of point scaling based on population or prime time hours
  • Break the day into scoring periods. The match is decided on the scoring periods not PPT.
  • Consider score for taking objectives either in conjunction with or in place of PPT
  • Add score for kills
  • Boost the outnumbered buff (in a number of ways)
  • Consider adjusting score based on placement
  • Adjust score of objectives based on upgrade level
  • Create special objectives/achievements that occur when you are behind that give you a special reward for completing them

Someone had a question on this one from Phys that I wanted to answer:

  • Break the day into scoring periods. The match is decided on the scoring periods not PPT.

Doing this would greatly buffer runaway score. If it is off hours and one world can cap most everything because of greater coverage they still just win the scoring period rather than rack up triple score all night. It means off hours play time still has value without creating blow outs. In conjunction with some of the other suggestions it has potential. I thought that was a pretty interesting suggestion from Phys.

John,you cannot fix WvW without complete overhaul.

Current WvW format is lackluster and if you implement different scoring or population balance measures before you look deep into the design its made you will create only more problems.

I’ve pointed out in last CDIs the overhaul for Stonemist Castle (you can dig it in my posts) but that is only 1 mere example how counter-productive is the structuring and the whole system is made.

WvW is just too simple and easy that is why I and all the competitive guilds who left this game feel like.You just can’t get invested into something lackluster like this.

I will give you another example – you guys killed any initiative for defending just by putting 1 single entrance to the structure like towers – the same entry point is places on top of the main entry point for attackers. (so basically defenders need to run through whole enemy zerg to enter and start defending)

From the beginning if you would prioritize defending and keeping stuff rather than making it karma train non-sense adding 3-5 entry points for defenders (same way attackers have more than 1 attacking points like walls) everything could look way different.

You guys in ArenaNET thought that underdogs would team up vs strongest enemy server which was another ground breaking mistake – even in real life people stand united with stronger and smash the weaker.
This is what was happening past 2 years in wvw since the launch – strongest server attacks weaker and the other weak server just backdoors the weakest server. (why go poke the beast while you can just go pile points on the weakest server)

So please before you even start thinking (not to mention working) on anything related to wvw address the mistakes you have made at launch – you have more than 2 years to study and gather data.

Those are just few examples where i can write a whole library about why current design is bad.

Complete WvW design overhaul or Catastrophe.

P.S. I had my best battles in WvW at heavily defended structures (example: go check the video of 1st WURM kill – there people go euphoric because it was hard and well deserved kill and result of hard work – same way people was cheering after we took enemy keep after 3-4h long battle)

That devs are actively discussing MATCH UPS and according to forum rules this is strictly FORBIDDEN.

We lost more bothers and sisters to moderators killing our posts than we lost in battlefield because of this rule.

This is just a reminder how pathetic is the NO MU discussion rule.

Proposal Overview

MistVille – Instanced Mists Guild Hall,GvG Arena and Server guild recruitment Area.

  • Instanced Map to hold all the needed Guild Halls / Houses placed inside the Mists.
  • Includes an entry point to GvG Arena – (Multi purpose – Acts as lobby for GvG Arena same as sPvP Lobby but only for GvG Arena / Acts as Server map to be used for Guild Recruitment purposes for WvW since megaservers killed this option)
  • Instanced Server map where Guilds can hold server specified meetings and events

Goal of Proposal

Create a single map that can be used as hub for many things that are requested from players related to Guilds/Guild Halls/GvG/WvW/PVP/Events but mainly to be used as hub for every server. (we have no privacy out of WvW maps and we desperately need some)

Proposal Functionality

Since Guild wars 2 already have the duplicating instanced map system i think we can use this to create a MAP inside the mists (inside the mists since it will be entry point for GvG and maybe WvW) where Guild Halls / Houses be placed.
A Multi-Purpose map called “MistVille” or w/e else (i’m sure other players will come up with better names) that can be used for various activities while acting as Server hub that contain Guild Halls and GvG / WvW entry points as well as server hub for organizing server specific events (we have no privacy and we need a place only for our server!)
The map can be home for the future merchants and crafting work station that will be bound with the guild halls / houses to sell mercendise for them and a place where you can craft furniture and other items specific for Guild Halls/ Houses.

This place will be a Paradise for Role Players :> (Just think about it) – The map can have different themed placed like Pirate ship,Ancient battleground or a beautiful lake where this part of our community can use for their needs.

Same way your guild hall can be placed in 1 of those themed areas so you can brag about how you own a guild hall next to a Pirate ship or Asura Lab (mini version of Traumanova anyone?)

Associated Risks

Risk of this project are related to social parts of the game.

Guild Wars was pushed to become “1 BIG BLOP of Nonsense” with all the Megaserver and stuff where this idea will separate players and create different social eco-system.

I’m not sure where Devs stay in this but creating MistVille will open the door for many things and be an giant step and improvement.

I will stop here and let others discuss about this because i can write a book of 1000 pages on this idea ^^

We got this situation where few Tier 3 towers got flipped with no damaged gate/walls today.

Than seconds after that 3rd tower got tagged but we had a scout at the gate.

By the time he moved from gate to lord’s room … the lord was already dead and no gate or wall was damaged nor any enemy player/siege presented anywhere.

I doubt that Anet will do anything about this since they cannot track what they cannot see so this post is just for public awareness for people who will be matched against Baruch Bay in next weeks.

This post will probably get deleted but i hope as many as possible see it so we may be can make devs finally implement structure integrity checks server side and add invulnerable buff to lords unless the wall/gate integrity is not present.

P.S. I’m sure that Baruch community has nothing to do with this cheating individuals and are not happy to have them in their server same as FSP wasn’t happy with them last season.
They’re a plague that devs have to deal with.

Dredgehaunt cliff map have only IP 232 ?

Every time i use a waypoint to this map to enter 1 jumping puzzle game opens 232 IP.

That is for the past 2-3 days.

I think that are bots in this IP preventing the map from closing to open new IPs.

And the major problem here is that the quest to open the entrance for the Jumping puzzle i want is bugged on this IP so i’m stuck there since almost a week.

I won’t mind to have such marking systems in GW2.They are great.Right now the game is lacking in that aspect a lot.

Naa I’m not talking about marking targets mate :> but this is of course something that every MMO out there should have.

Would the enemy be able to see this skin? It would certainly make Rangers more valuable being able to easily pick out commanders from a zerg.

No the skin wont be visible in wvw to your enemy but it will be visible in any area out of wvw like world bosses and any other place you see tags.

Why don’t they just make it blank and use the dye panel for whatever color you’re feeling that day? Problem solved.

Hello everyone it’s me Luna again :>

Since Anet decided to give us the other commander tag colors free of charge I’ve decided decide to brainstorm a way for them to have some profit out of this as well.

This wasn’t easy task but I’ve got an idea how to make this situation WIN-WIN for both sides.

And here i present you – Commander tag skins.

Yes you heard it,skins for the tags themselves.
Everything in this game have skins and that is where Anet is making profit of some sort.

So I got this idea to give Tags skins as well.

I will start with some basic skins for tags that will provide – glow,sparks,hearts etc.. effects on the actual tag.

The idea is to have an Gems-Store item that will give our beloved tag a skin.

Imagine having a PINK tag that will have little hearts popping out of it.
Or Having a Yellow tag that will have sparks dropping out of it.
Red tag can have a red aura around it (similar aura like the focus – Knowledge is power for example)

That is the basic skin for tags idea.

There is a Luxory Skins for Tags as well.
Luxory skins can be in different shape and look even better than the basic onces.
But I’m still not ready to spoil them so …

What really gets me though isn’t so much what I feel is a bad design choice but that people who will in no way be handicapped or otherwise negatively affected by the OP’s proposed alternate to FOTM are so strongly opposed to it. /sigh

This is exactly what I always find so strange too. How can anyone be against having multiple ways to achieve or do something. Why is someone against for an option for players to choose the way they actually like to do the most?

It’s the problem of the perceived equality now.

I would be happy to waste useless badges on the mists stone instead of precious relics, but I agree that a) those have very little value because there’s excessive amount of them, and b) the difficulty in running in a blob spamming 111 compared to a mildly organised fractal run is substantial.

To make it worse, there are enough things which “force” people who do not want to do something do it:

  • Map completion in PvP area – complained about since release.
  • Rank requirement for Gift of Battle.
  • Jumping puzzles in PvP area.
  • Mistforged weapons for WvW Tournaments.
  • PvP backpack and the upcoming PvP armour skins.

Pristine Fractal Relics are just yet another thing in the row, but this time it’s WvW crowd QQing about doing the “hard” content they “despise” for 5 (!) times at lowest level (or buy them from dungeon sellers). We, PvE scrubs, simply do not feel that this request is equal in terms of difficulty, while it should. Want the reward? Go and do the content like everyone else does! …or get rid of all the other limitations other people are forced to face first.

Why don’t you go and open up topics with your issues like i did here rather than trolling us ?

Really if you think that you’ve been discriminated by any way by Developers go and oppose them and lead your own fight but please don’t come and oppose fellow players who are actually trying to get their game improved.

You have no right to troll this topic trying to get the game improved rather than trying to fight for the things that concern you and you mentioned up there really.

You just don’t have any argument in opposing this idea – which can lead to massive improvement for future additions to the wvw game type and improve overall gaming experience not only for wvw oriented players but for everyone.

(more than half of the words you use are used by frustrated teenager trolls just saying)

Let me explain it the simplest way possible for you Lishtenbird.

We want to buy a car to go from point A to point B.

Where we like to drive Mercedes but we’re said that we can only do it by driving BMW.

Which is not correct since they’re both cars and can get us to desired destination.

Since we’re spending the money we’re can choose what car we can drive.

I hope this makes it crystal clear for you..if not than you will just prove yourself to be troll since you have no reason to argue with people here.

People have the right to choose and do things they like – it’s developers who are in position to provide us with our needs.

There is nothing wrong in providing more variety in this game as well as utilizing the rest of unused currencies in this game.

I’ll even go even deeper and drop the idea of all items except dungeon/pvp/wvw specific to require karma on top of the required currency so karma can mean something and gain some value as well.

1000 badges & 10 000 karma for example for the mists stone.

Took the group i joined around 2:34 minutes to reach 3rd map’s last boss.

By this time we got 1 of the players afk multiple times and eventually leave.

We got 1 of the other guys start raging and make 1 more of the players leave.

So basically I’ve been put into situation I’ve spend around 3h and not being able to acquire the item i was there for.

No offense but I see no logic for you to be here except deliberately trolling people who just ask for mare variety.

Thank you for your involvement in this topic but you have no reason to be opposite to this idea which is just an improvement and adds variety.

If you like Fractals and trolling people in fractals that much – do it but you have no right to troll wvw players who ask for support here.

It’s a game we all bought with money for different reasons – you may enjoy fractals same as we bought this game because we enjoy wvw.

You already have the NPC that can be used to sell those – same NPC that sells gift of battle.

And the number of badges required can be increased.

Anet please don’t forget about us – WvW only players :<
Please start using those badges to provide us with items we need to craft the new items so we can feel part of this game.

Stop isolating WvW players.

I’m not sure when it started (one of last hotfixes probably) but today i saw people just hopping inside towers ignoring the gate like gate don’t exist while its there at 100%.

Sunnyhills tower was the one i saw this happening and when i asked in chat people reported that it happens everywhere.

This is a major bug and a new one that has nothing to do with previous gate bugs that was reported.

Nowhere to hide bugged now?

After the hotfix update this achievement is bugged for anyone else ?

Doesn’t matter if you dodge or not she will always knock you away preventing you from getting this achievement.

Here is Dulfy’s video for this achievement where you can see that after the dodge scarlet don’t try to throw her grande skill…but after the hotfix update she instantly throws the grandes and knocks you away and make it impossible to get the achievement anymore.

Garrison Waypoint send us to Citadel WP ?

The bug have nothing to do with Garrison being contested or not.

I was entering this morning our home border i clicked to Garrison waypoint and end up in Citadel again.

After this i ran around a bit but whole map was ours than used Garrison WP from ruins and again ended up in Citadel.

[WvW] Waypoints are bugged.

When you try to teleport from EB to home border Garrison you get ported to Citadel waypoint instead. (or any other border or map outside of wvw too)

When you try to teleport from to Eb Keep waypoint you get ported to the starting area instead of the keep.

This bug is happening since last LA update.

I’ve asked in mapchat and everyone else reported happening to them as well.

Interesting, I hadn’t considered using the 3 of 5 system there. Do you think that would really force groups to fight it out or would people just turtle up to prevent capture?

Like i stated in my post the attackers should hold at least 2 of all the capture points in order to capture stonemist.

The general idea is to divide the attacking and defending zerg to smaller groups providing for smart plays using variety of new tactics instead of zerging the lord room.

I think that there should be few capture chambers at outter courtyard and 1 at current lord location.

(i’m providing a map with possible new capture chamber locations)

Proposal Overview
I would like to point out few things related to the Scaling creatures and NPC complexity.
One of the best things that really made difference after joining Eotm for 1st time in betas and after was the fact that there is a different approach to creatures/NPC bosses.
They was actively scaling and had different fighting mechanics compared to what we had till now in original WvW maps.

Goal of Proposal
What i’m proposing is test overhaul on the Stonemist Lord and adding him the features like the Lords in Eotm lords have.
Stonemist is the only Castle in WvW yet the lord NPC that defends it is same as any others NPC/Lord out there.
Give this guy some personality allow him to fight back (i know he have grudge agaisnt all WvW players who zerg him all time while he don’t have the necessary tools to fight back).Add him more complex mechanics like those we can see in Eotm or even better than those.
My other proposition is to add more capture points to Stonemist.Currently its really counter-productive to have 1 single capture chamber which gets zerged by the whole map zerg.
Instead add 2 more capture points to Stonemist which will divide the zerg and provide more tactical plays.With the all new PvE boss mechanics we saw like in 3-headed wurm i think that everyone saw that multi task mechanics are way better than 1 zoneblop attacking 1 poor NPC (sometimes even using only auto-attacks) to take it down.To capture Stonemist at least 2 of the capture points should be held by attackers

Proposal Functionality
Both or my propositions will add more complexity to the wvw game and more variety of tactics.When NPC you’re about the attack have complex mechanics you can’t just auto-attacking it to death while keeping an eye for other enemy players.
Guild Wars 2 devs have showed us that there is a lot more that they can do about those so i think after Marionette,3 headed wurm etc… it’s time WvW to get to the next level where you need to actually play the game and play it smart to win.

Associated Risks
The system i propose probably have some flaws i cannot see so please point them out so we can make this a better place for all of us.

Quick note
I proposed this system to be tested 1st on Stonemist lord but i hope to see it applied to all NPCs in wvw in future.

Question regarding WvsW Season 2

I think that many people have many questions related to WvsW Season 2 and it’s time to ask them since 1 month will pass like a blink of a eyes :>

My questions are related to the new Swiss Tournament System:

  • Will it contain separate ladders – Gold,silver,bronze ?
  • The Swiss style tournaments I’ve been part of included elimination – So how this will be executed in Season 2 WvsW? (Server who loose will be eliminated and matched with other looser servers while the winners will have to fight few weeks against each other?)
  • If we don’t have separate ladders (which is how the original Swiss system works – 1 ladder only) does this mean that winners keep climbing the ladder till tournament time ends and the server who have most wins at this point wins being 1st place anyway?

And to finish my post i highly encourage everyone to post questions the way i did so we can get straight answers as soon as devs are available.

I tried a game without aoe, it was amazing, there was 100 people but everyone was fighting in 1vs1.

Aoe is the main problem ! No more bus, just lot of fights !

Want to play single player ? – Try Skyrim.

Want to pvp 1v1 ? – try sPvP.

WvW is not your thing if you’re looking at 1v1 fights.

It’s a Massive Siege Warfare and the main reason i joined a Gaming community with more than 200 active Guild Wars 2 players – so i can ENJOY MASSIVE battles.

There is a sPvP so loners like you can play alone 1v1.

People like you are the main reason why WvW don’t evolve as game type.

I would like you know how do the players of small servers feel about EOTM map? (Edge of the Mists)

Do you think that it will be your long awaited salvation in face of a real option to play wvw finally with more people and not restricted by your server population and coverage ?

Or do you think that it will be the last nail at the coffin of your small pop server luring even the last wvw players left to the new map where there always will be many people playing since it overflow map for over-populated servers ?

Personally i think EOTM could be a double edged knife and it will act as a PUG magnet (yes those players who are not part of big wvw oriented guilds but still do wvw and get blamed for everything when things goes wrong).
And server who rely heavily on pugs will hurt when Season 2 starts probably but can’t say for sure – just a theory.

What do you think ?

Overflows bugged

I went to Bloodtide Coast for the Wurm event and got placed at Overflow while waiting decided to finish my daily gatherer and started to gather ores and vegetables.

Travel to main channel dialog poped up so i clicked travel.

But for my surprise i was placed in another Oveflow.

I realized its different overflow because the gatherables was places in different places in this one.

Around a minute later i got Travel to main poped up again i clicked travel and got moved to 3rd Overflow instead of main channel.

Than i waited again and same thing happened but this time i made screens to provide in this bug report. (check the gatherable items on the minimap which prove those are different Overflow channels)

  • My question is why there was a decision taken to make FREE transfers to not so populated servers which led to the destruction of the inner eco system of those server?
  • And will there be more server destruction before Season 2 starts ?

When you will finally address this MAJOR issue or you will keep ignoring it forever and still say you make stuff for hardcore groups in future ?

How do you propose they address the issue?

Making main server channel not allowed for guest is a start.

Main channel should be only for the native players of this server while if i and my friend from another server want to meet and play together any of the conted we should be send both to overflow channels.

Next is server and event optimization to the level where large events like this can maintain whole server in 1 single channel or the numbers required for large events adjusted properly to not divide 1 server to 300 overflow channels causing dis-organization and crippling any attempt to hardcore gaming.

I’ll say it again those are just a start for many adjustments before they can call provided contend aimed for hardcore groups.

Hey, thanks everyone! We spent a lot of time tweaking the balance on this, and I’m glad that so many people appreciate our efforts. We REALLY like hearing that people are making memories and cheering each other on. Those are the kinds of experiences we make MMOs for.

I’m not surprised that the Wurm is not liked by as many people. We were making that specifically for the hard core groups that are all about the organization and figuring out the strategy and tactics. It’s really cool watching the community grapple with this puzzle and innovate as they get closer and closer to finding a winning strategy.

You are joking right ?

How can you be making those events for hardcore groups when our hardcore groups hits OVERFLOW and the main channel of our server is full always ?

When you will finally address this MAJOR issue or you will keep ignoring it forever and still say you make stuff for hardcore groups in future ?

Hello Anthony,Thank you for shading some light on this.

My question is:

What you (anet) will adjust when you start pushing out more massive events like upcoming multiple new Dragons or Bosses at same magnitude or when the expansions comes out which include more and more massive events ?

I play since the release of this game and never knew or used those but you say they have made such a big impact to cripple whole servers and now you pushed a solution to this what you will you CUT OFF to make your future events playable and not cripple your servers ?

Does this limitation fixed the skill lag once forever and was it the root of the problem (which i think is way more complex) ?

Great Wurm - Killing eggs most important!

Thats the most important part of all the 3 locations.

Zerg must focus to kill the eggs before they hatch or you get overrun by champion creep zergs.

Few people are enough to do the meta event while zerg should focus the eggs. (20 for kegs only if its good grp you can do it will less)

As soon as people realize this we will have our 1st successful Wurm Event.
