what kind of build do you use right now?

With the HGH build I use the pistol for the utility, the damage comes from conditions+grenades. I try to avoid to use #1 pistol

I do not see a nerf. I played HGH for a while now and I love it. The guide from ostricheggs made some things more clear and some had some good advices.

I guess they will not nerf HGH because it is our last strong build.

Ostricheggs I have a question regarding your movement. You say in the guide we have to kite a lot and throw a lot of grenades. You use free camera. If I look back with free camera and throw some grenades I can not turn to left or right. If I press right mouse my char is running into the “wrong” direction. Can you post your settings or write 1-2 lines how you look backwards while throwing and running in circles?

I do not like builds without condition removal. But I guess it should work against some classes.

I see bad odds for you against a ranger, a mesmer, a necro or a HgH engineer.

What I do not understand is that you chill your opponent and use condition damage. Why chill them? It is condition damage. Power and chill are friends. Condition and chill are just neighbours

I guess the nerf will not be hard for ele. It is like in all MMORPG. If the majority of the community loves a class it does not get a hard nerf. They nerf warrior or Engineer. Not Mesmer or Ele that’s for sure.

I guess you will have more benefits if you take an different sigil. Every 10sek is not that bad but having a different effect every 2sek is maybe better. Removing one condtion every 10sek does not help you build that much.

Many Mesmer have no condition remove possibilities. From my point of view condition damage based builds works well against mesmer.

I also hit and kill people with grenades on range. And Grenades are very powerful. And it is not the point if you hit with a grenade 8 of 10 times or not.

The point is, if you throw a grenade your opponent gets a big sign:

“Please move out of this area you will get damage in 3 sec. Thank you”

And I guess the game would be more fun if you do not get this sign.

For example you are inside of a keep. Outside are 20 people killing everything they see.
I will not be able to kill them all, but I will harm them or make it more difficult for them.

As a ranger, necro, engineer or ele you paint nice red cicles on the ground and never hit someone.

You can go and try to shoot at them but they will kill you as soon as they see you barrage, Ice spike or all the other skills never hit someone so you have to create a line of sight

It is ok from my point of view that they removed some builds from the game but I do not understand why they removed the builds from the weak classes and the OP classes are untouched.

Leaderboard and spec-mode would help pvp to get more and new players.

I know my suggestion is very class based. But anyway.

I dislike the red circles. I play an Engineer and use granates. I have a 1500 range which is great. But I never hit someone on this range.

I throw my granate and it takes 3sek until impact. But even if my opponent is not looking at me he knows the impact place.

It is hard to guess where I have to throw the granate on an constant moving target. But it does not make sense to guess and to try to throw the granate into the correct direction I will never hit because of the red circles on the ground warning every opponent.

Granates are really useful in close combat.

It is grenade(s) not Grante(s) and it is Sec not Sek.

I play an Grenade engineer and I have no issues with the red circles, I can hit my target 8 of 10 times. Sounds like you just need to invest more time into learning your character better than coming on wasting time asking for senseless suggestions like this

But I do not belive you that you can hit a target 8 of 10 times. In sPvP/WvW the people pay attantion and it is so simple to move out of every red circle. It is impossible to hit a good player on range with grenades. I bet on a range of 1000 in 1on1 you hit 1 of 10 times a good player with grenades.

You can’t remove conditions with this build and it seams that the sigils on your weapons are useless because they share the same time ( am I wrong???)

Last night we played some tPvP. One tourney started and we played Ele,Ele,Guard, Mesmer and me as Engineer (random group). The other team was Ranger, Warrior, Warrior, Necro, Engineer. Easy win and it really was.

Ele is too strong.

Copied from OstrichEggs imo one of the best engineers.

Basically ur damage comes mostly from the V trait in Explosives lines, since u crit with grenades and proc that trait.

Currently this build is one of THE best in the game.

Has OstrichEggs some videos? Seems to be a great build for sPvP.

It has only one condition remove possibility and is for advanced player because of handling 3 kits but it is very strong even without HgH

I’m full zerker

Auto attack usually hits for 1-,1200/ each granade
and sharpel/freeze for 1,700 – 2,000/each
bleeds still hit for around 52 per tick

Bombs special skills are if you’re low on condition damage, but skill #1 will hit for 3-5k per bomb depending on how much toughness the enemy/mob has

Based on this page:

Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

1 grenade makes with 30/10/0/30/0 without might full zerker (2304 power)
425,6 damage

With 25stacks of might
587,2

Additional ECM gives us ~30% damage in this case it is 176,16
In sum we can make 763,36 damage without a crit

(I checked it on the server. I never had so much damage without a crit, so I am not sure how ECM works or if it is working)

Maximum damage with maximum crit should be with 28% critical damage
1358,7 for #1 grenade

But I never got a hit like that.

I guess ECM is not giving full 30% additional damage if I have 30 boons on me (25stacks of might, stiffness, vigor, regeneration, protection,rage)

So I guess the maximum damage with full zerker is ~1.2 with full crit and should be normal ~600

With Shrapnel+Sharshooter is extra bleeding possible. So heavy conditions = grenades

This, you can maintain 25 bleed stacks, permaburn, permapoison, and high vuln, just by facerolling grenades. Without pizza. Makes other options (condition-damage wise) for every class look pretty stupid to be honest by direct comparison. This is with 2 sigils admittedly – one for 10% longer bleeds, and another for earth. Given other players passive bleeds, I’d probably give up the earth sigil for sigil of battle or somesuch – swap to prybar for some confusion stacks and bomb kit for a few more! Unlike the ideal power engineer build (grenades/EG/FT), the ideal condition build only needs grenades, anything else can be chosen at will.
