Does Energy Conversion Matrix work?
I checked my damage:
Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
(based on wiki)
Weapon damage is 1204
Power is 2114
Light armour is 1836
skill-specific coefficient for rifle #1 skill is 0.65
So I get 893 without crit and without Energy Conversion Matrix.
With 18 stacks of might I make 1183 damage based on this forumla.
I do not see where the Energy Conversion Matrix is working. Because 18stacks of might and two random buffs should make ~1400 with a single shot without a crit. And I do not see it.
can someone confirm that ECM is working?

Condition w/ pistol+ FT or Elixir gun? Could you post this builds? Are this PvE Builds?

it works easy. You get might for using elixir from toolbelt or as a skill. You get might if you swap in combat to a kit and you get might if you heal yourself. You get might you the sigil proc. Energy convertion matrix gives you 1% damage for every boon and this means you can get >20 stacks of might and >20% extra damage.
if you hit someone with grenades then you make >2.5k per grenade and this hurts a lot.
And Formular 409 + elixir S gives you survivability
Grenades faster.
Glue Shot much faster. Range 700 and real slow flying of the glue is bad.
New sounds for weapons. I want a desert eagle sound for pistols and a real shotgut sound for rifle.
If I am in close range in sPvP, they are really easy. With the first build if I am able to land the bleeding from grenade #2, the sigil of geomancy and blowtorch they are dead. I can sit down and enjoy the bleeding/burning show. Some can’t handle the conditions.

@Orion the pet+Ranger makes on range more damage then I do with pistol + ~10-18stacks of might. I am out of range for grenades (they are much to slow to hit im on ~1000range) and are waste of time until I am in short range.
I make 400-500 without crit with the pistol. I start the fight with mostly ~8 stacks of might and during the fight I go up to ~18. Surely sometimes I hit with the second build the 25Stacks but not always.
The pistol is ok, but to win a damage war I need the grenades
@Amadeus. The most ranger I see in sPvP have a dog or a jaguar or something like this. Some are able to knock me down. But all are able to hit me for 400-800. Most of the ranger have the spike trap and are using Bows (shortbow in many cases, longbow from time to time)
My problem is to go into short range to set the blowtorch.

It is condition based build with HGH and a good amount of direct damage. It works well because many people do not remove conditions and the direct damage is also fine.

Both builds are fine and are posted many times on this forum.
Unfortunately I get outdamaged by a Ranger and I am not able to use my advantages. I start the fight and mostly I am already under fire. It takes to long to get in short range to make damage with grenades or blowtorch, because he is moving and set his trap from time to time.
I use static shot at the beginning of the fight and try to get 15+ stacks of might.
Someone an advice for me?
Give us a desert eagle as pistol and a desert eagle sound for the shoots.
But to be honest I do not want that the engineer is the most popular class. I like to play the underdogs
if they nerf kit refinement hard then we loose a very special build possibility. I hope they buff some other parts of the engineer. I do not like turrents so I hope we get not only turrent love
But I have a question. If I dodge towards. Why the shatter wont hurt me?

I had the same problems with a condi build. I switched to might HGH build. Mesmer still is not easy but I win more often as before.
First I crtl+T to highlight the real person.
I save some elixier for removing conditions, because some mesmer give m many stacks of conditions.
If I have 10+ stacks of might, I hit for 800+ and put a lot of pressure on the mesmer.
If the mesmer is going to stealth or creating lots of illsuions I switch to
grenades, slow and blind him and try to outdamage the mesmer and the his “Friends”
May I ask why you take Pistol shots pierce?
Not taking group fights/multiple enemies into the equation, in close quarter combat or by making use of a terrain, this trait helps you deal double damage on an enemy.
Can you explain this ? I checked the skill on golems and…. you know ….I only shoot through the foe. Seems for me not very useful

There’s something I want to add that new players might want to learn about pistols which is not mentioned in this thread. With the trait coated bullets, it’s possible to deal extra damage with Explosive Shot on an enemy by making use of the environment. Lets say you shoot an enemy standing a few feet from a wall/tree/anything that can be called an obstruction, and it pierces him and that bullet hits the wall. The initial shot hurts him (dmg), bullet pierces, and then hits the wall (explodes), and that explosion hits the player next to it. This can also be done when you’re atop of something shooting the enemy below you — the bullet pierces and explodes on the ground. You too can make use of this on slopes as well… as long as you understand the concept well you will always be wanting to look for a situation where your Explosive Shots can deal that extra damage.
Ok now I understand. But still I guess it is not the best skill we can take

Cooldown is fine but granades miss every moving target a lot of times because they are sooo slow.
For me a granade makes ~250-400 damage. 8 of them 2k-3.2k. I do not see how this is overpowered. 12k are impossible.
The idea is nice but do be honest it is big love to engineers
Played the build today, not easy to handle 3 kits. And I sucked because of condition remove (sPvP). But the playability is great

I watched nearly most of your videos and I cannot agree that you are not the most skilled player. Anyway … we have a lot of very skilled engineers and many very good videos.

At ~9min you fight against a thief. This is not the most awesome fight ever. But your tactic is nice.
I guess it is:
Go to range spam conditions, go for prybar.
ok he goes into steals… this is expected. You run out of range, remove your conditions and then you go for the kill.
Simple and nice.
But I want this simple and nice videos against mesmer, ranger and ele. Thiefs I can kill by myself (condition build is king against thiefs)
vs. Mesmer, use Ctrl-T — that’s what I do (and I use mesmer almost exclusively in PvP). It doesn’t make it easy to fight a mesmer, but it makes it easier. No such help with Thief — you have to wait for stealth to break (or shoot into the dark).
The issue here isn’t balance… mesmer is well balanced against other classes. It’s the class-mechanic of clones. Same argument with thieves — thieves are not OP, but their class mechanic is very challenging to fight against.
Does crtl+t stay on the main Mesmer all the time no matter what?
Could you write a short guide how to handle mesmer as a engnieer with your build? You play both chars very well and I will never get your skilllevel but even bad played mesmer are hard to kill for me (worst setup for me). I never know should I kite or should I go short range for prybar. If I run, how long should I run. If I run I lost the real mesmer many times. I play mostly sPvP

The builds works very well in siege/larger fights by just spamming Grenades, and is quite good in roaming around cause of the Prybar (OP), and swapping into grenades for a few bleeding, poison and freezing nades. (with the 90% duration I had doing that movie the bleeding from skill 2 lasted for 22 or 24 seconds? something like that, okittensecond CD)I use 2x Runes of Lyssa, and 4x Runes of the Madking, or Lich, or Nightmare (all 3 can work), problem is these runes are bugged since last patch, but Anet is aware and fixing it soon (hopefully)
I run full Rapid Armor, Carrion Weapons (gonna use Giver’s when those are fixed and working for 20% longer condition duration), and a mix of Rampager (2 rings) Carrion (2 trinkets) and a rapid Acsended (neck)The Sigil I use is Superior sigil of Generosity (60% chance on crit to remove a condition on yourself and give it to the enemy – for roaming reasons) and a supeiror sigil of corrution, but you can roll with the sigil that gives bleeding on crits if you want!

Well Ink, a HGH build will eat up the rune set, so you can’t have 20% longer condition duration from there as a start, but also, it will eat up all your utility slots for the Elxirs (Also lock you into 30 point in Alchemy)! Not that it’s bad, because it will indeed in a longer fight end up giving more damage, but my build simply have other tools’, so if your just gonna stand on a wall throwing down grenades, then yeah, go with a grenade HGH build (which I got a setup running aswell)
But if your gonna roam around as a condition engineer and take on smaller group fights ect, the build I linked got better tools for that (Perma Vigor, Perma Swiftness, a Pull, more cripple, PRYBAR, an extra heal at 25%HP ect)
WvW ain’t allways a matter of giving the most damage, also Prybar is OP, so in any condition build you should try get it in there!

This build isnt as good at all. Its boring and weak compared to my old kit-heavy builds.
I play solo most of the time and since patch i have a very hard time. I tried this build now and have to say its just not competetiv.

You need Only Explosiv X + Sigil + runes. everything other is customisable !
I use such a build for 2monthsIt shows it’s better effetiveness with grenades/bombs and FT ! And with this setup, you can wear PVT gear and do enough damage
With my Grenadier build (30/10/0/20/10) I maintain 18-21 might without any problem
Explosives X gives 3 might and with the duration from your runes you can get up to 6 might from this trait. Sigils giving during fight 3 for swap and 1 for 10s (30% on crit).
1 might from Alchemy adept.
So I see ~12 might not 18+. Am I wrong?
